Pioneer Elite System

About a year ago I purchased a complete Pioneer Elite System complete with Blu Ray. It was the technician's first day of work and I don't think he connected and setup the system properly. Everytime we play a dvd movie on the Blue Ray, midway through the movie, the sound cuts off (and I think the input changes). The picture continues but there is no sound until I manually change the input back to HDMI 1. Recently I sent an email to the Pioneer support online and they told me to reset the receiver and gave me the steps. Well, not only did that NOT fix the problem, but it made it worse. Now the sound cuts off 2 or 3 times during the movie and when I turn the system off the receive stays on and the LCD shows "Zone 2 on". I don't know how to get the Zone 2 to turn off and I still have the problem with the sound cutting off during the movie. I have read the manuals, but just do not understand them. Best Buy wants $299.00 for someone to come out and fix it. I paid $14,000.00 for the system, and I really don't want to pay $300 to get it straightened out. Can someone PLEASE help.

Okay here is what I have:
Pioneer Elite Receiver Model # VSX92T XH
Pioneer Elite BluRay Model # BDP-95 FD
Pioneer Elite Plasma Display TV - There are two model numbers on the manual and I can't see the back of the tv to see which one it is but the two model numbers are: PRO-150FD/PRO-110FD
The Plasma TV is set to input TV/SAT and the BluRay is set to HDMI 1
Any help or guidance you can give me would be MOST appreciated. The two issues I have are:
1. Mid-way through a DVD movie the sound cuts off and I have to manually turn the input back to HDMI
2. When I turn off the system the receiver stays on with "Zone 2 on" shown in the LCD panel and it won't turn off.
THANK YOU SOOOOOO VERY MUCH!

Just a general question to the group:    Currently I own a pioneer elite pro-151fd  of which I bought 2 yrs ago from BB and had it professionally calibrated after 200hrs of play--to this day--I haven't seen a flat panel that competes w/ the elite except for the Bang and Olsefuen at 5 times the cost,, the elite black levels and color depths are massive,,,   do you agree ??   what will be the technology that will overtake the quality level of the pioneer elite "s ,  when ??  and will there a 3d version of that technology that will be without glasses ??    as a side question--is there anything that could be done as a additional piece of hardware that will become available to convert 2d to 3d without glasses ??

Yes I agree. Nothing today is as good as the Pioneer Kuro technology was.
what will be the technology that will overtake the quality level of the pioneer elite "s ,  when ??
I think it will still be plasma. When Pioneer stopped production they sold their Kuro tecnology and patents to Panasonic. Panasonic has been slowly incorporating aspects of the Kuro into their lineups and improving on that technology. Many think plasmas are dying but they are not. They will still be around for awhile.
and will there a 3d version of that technology that will be without glasses ??    Eventually but not for another few years. Several companie have already made demo models but there are massive issues with them that prevent them from mass production. Issues such as very poor viewing angles and the cost to produce is so high that the cost of the TV would be prohibitive for mass consumer consumption.

Why not double check to be certain.
Beyond that, contact Pioneer to see if anything special needs to be done to make AirPlay work on the receiver.

You need to read your Pioneer manual carefully. Check for HDMI passthrough settings, assuming your receiver functions as a HDMi switch. This is definitely a configuration issue with your receiver, not the Apple TV. A receiver typically works by having multiple HDMI inputs for various components like cable or satellite boxes, Blu-ray player, AppleTV, etc., and a single output port to the HDTV that will be the display. There is also some little amount of signal loss as it passes through the receiver and the length of the cables may come into play.

  • Pioneer Elite VSX-84txi & iPod: where does D/A conversion occur?

    Hello, first time poster!
I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to in the owner's manual or on the net and perhaps some knowledgeable person could help me. I own a Pioneer Elite VSX-84txi manufactured in Nov 2006 and a new model iPod manufactured in late 2008. The Pioneer has the latest firmware update. I use the Pioneer supplied iPod cable included with the receiver to connect the iPod to the receiver.
With Wadia pushing the i170 transport as the first solution to bypass the iPod's internal DAC, I was wondering if my iPod passes a digital signal to be decoded by the Pioneer Elite VSX-84txi or if the signal is decoded by the iPod's DAC and passed as analog to the Pioneer. Essentially the answer to this question will dictate whether or not I buy the Wadia i170 (I don't care about video, just the audio processing).
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Dan

Well, I received this reply from Pioneer today:
"Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.
The signal is decoded by the iPod and passed as analog to the Pioneer receiver.
    Thank You,
    Ismael
    Customer Service Representative"
So I guess I'll be buying the Wadia as the Pioneer iPod connection confers no advantages other than charging the unit while it plays.

  • I have a ipod touch gen 2 and I am trying to get airplay to work with my pioneer Elite VSX receiver.

I have a gen 2 IPOD touch with the current operating system (4.2.1).  As well I have a Pioneer A/V Elite series VSX 52 that is airplay ready.  On my ipod touch there is no airplay icon(s) with the music feature.  I am trying to make this work but have no results.  If there is a download that I need to enable to have this function work.
    Let me know
    KUNTRI

There are no setting on the iPod. Unlike the iPad wich morrors the iPad display, TV out on an iPod only displays TV out on apps that support TV out. The Video app is one such app.
    Is that you problem?
    Otherwise:
    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Should I run ATV digital signal through Pioneer elite tuner DAC

    I currently have
    2 ATV-2
    2 Airport Exresses
1 SC27 Pioneer Eite AV Tuner (with a really nice DAC and fiber inputs) this is mainly dedicated to my Home theater but has 2 additional zones
1 Denon 5.1 tuner with fiber inputs ( this is curently powering the 4 ceiling speakers but may be repurposed for another area)
1 Marantz analog amp (5004) that I would like to use to power the in ceiling speakers from either an ATV or AE.
    Question,
    1. Should I run the AE directly to the Marantz using the AE DAC?
    2. Should I run the AE digital through the Pioneer DAC and then analog to the Marantz?
    3. Should I hook up the ATV Digital to the Pioneer DAC and then Analog to the Marants?
    4. Should I hook up all and switch back and forth to find the best fit, think I have enough cables for that.
    Thanks

NTSC (Analog TV) ended in the USA/Canada in 2009.
Over The Air (OTA) Television uses ATSC (Digital TV)
Cable Systems (CATV) often use QAM, or other digital modulations.
Satellite TV uses other methods, BUT may provide Composite Video (Yellow RCA/S-Video) connector OR an old-style RF modulator for NTSC (channel 3/4).

  • Connecting to Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH

I am actually reading Pioneer's instructions before installing the receiver replacing a Yamaha! I am a bit uncertain about which ports to use on receiver to utilize the best video (HDMI) and audio (optical) connections. Would appreciate any tips. I bought the Mac MIni in January. Thanks

So your Mac mini is the Mid 2007 model. It has a DVI-D video port and an analog/digital audio combo jack.
So for your digital video you need a DVI-D to HDMI cable that you can assign to any of your HDMI input ports (see page 24 of your user guide to assign the ports) and for digital audio a Toslink optical cable with a mini-plug adapter for the Mac which can be assigned to any of your digital audio input ports ( see page 43 of the user guide to assign the audio input ports).

  • Pioneer elite plasma connection problem

I've tried both hdmi outputs on my pioneer tv receiver and i still get no picture. what am i doing wrong?? i've tried switching the outputs with no luck. its a plasma tv with a separate receiver. no hdmi inputs/outputs on plasma unit, only receiver.

it's hit or miss getting such setups working
hdmi splitters / swiches are notorious for implmentating an unsatisfactory hdcp

It didn't used to.  It doesn't matter if the battery is full, empty, or in between.  Even if the system has been playing Sirius for a long time, as soon as I plug in my ipod, the whole system crashes, restarts, crashes, restarts, etc.  What can I do??

  • IPod Touch with Pioneer ELite VSX-82TXS Receiver

I had an one of the older iPods with video (80GB) and when I played it through my receiver, I could chnage any of the adio settings on my receiver for optimum sound quality.
Now I have the newer iPodTouch and when I connect it, it only plays in a direct stream mode comming only through the front left, front right, and center channels. My 2 rear channels and my subwoffer are quiet.
Has anyone had this expierence? Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,

Nevermind, came back home and it decided to work. Sorry for the post, can't figure out how to delete it.

  • Low volume through AV system

I connected my Mac mini Core Duo to my Pioneer Elite receiver using my iPod's minijack - RCA cable, and found that the volume is terribly low on my receiver. I tried to turn up the volume in System Settings and while it did improve the levels, it was not good.
How can I make sure that the Mac mini is set to output "2-channel" sound, rather than something else? I have a feeling it's set to output 5.1 or something like that which is causing the problem.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

What application on your Mac mini are you playing sound from? Only the DVD Player will output anything but 2 channel stereo. iTunes, QuickTime and things like iMovie don't have the ability to output multi-channel audio. Remember there may be a volume adjustment in the software you're using as well as the main system volume.
