PiP inside a thought bubble?

Let me preface my question by saying that I just downloaded the trial version of Premiere Elements 11 today, so I'm VERY new to it.  I've been able to muddle my way through most of what I want to do thus far by viewing MANY tutorials, but now I'm stuck.
Is there a way to:
1) add a thought bubble to a video (I managed to do this!)
2) fade out the text inside the bubble
3) replace the faded text with another video
4) expand the thought bubble video to full screen?
My whack at it:  I used the PiP effect and plunked my video on top of the thought bubble, but the bubble is somewhat rounded and the PiP video is rectangular so it looks weird.  I would prefer the video to play INSIDE the thought bubble, clipped to fit.  I was also able to add a key frame to the PiP and expand it to 100%, but it doesn't fill the frame all the way.  Not sure why.
I'm trying to portray a dog thinking a thought (that the audience can read in the thought bubble), then visualizing it (the PiP video), and then have that thought become center stage (full screen).  If I could add some "dreamy" fade in effect too (dissolve? blur?), that would be great too.
I guess another option would be to have the thought bubble exapnd to full screen, then ripple into the thought video.  But, I don't know how to do that either!!
Any help would be much appreciated!!

Along with the Track Matte Keying (a method that I often use), what about doing something like this:
Create the "thought bubble" as a Title (this could also be a graphic of a thought bubble created in another program, or downloaded from a Web site, then placed on a Title.
Create a Text Title, with desired Type, as a separate Title, placed above your thought bubble Title on the Timeline.
Apply a Fade-In/Fade-Out, or Keyframe that Title's Opacity to accomplish the fades.
Create a second Text Title (Duplicate from the first Title will keep the design settings, but create a separate Title, that can be edited separately, from the original).
Place that Title above the thought bubble Title, and apply any fades necessary.
Then, when that has completed, adjust the Fixed Effect>Motion>Scale to your thought bubble Title, to expand it to fill the screen.
Good luck,
Hunt

    If you program is Premiere Pro CC, you have posted in the wrong forum. Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum.

  • HT4906 How do I set type in the Thought bubble on a pic? Thanks for any answers!

    How do I type words in the Thought Bubble after placing it on a pic? I hit the type icon, but when I click in the thought bubble my Mac just beeps. Please Help! Thanks!

    Hi leonie,
    Thanks again for your reply and tactful help and understanding. Although as mentioned, after reading another forum I was able Somehow to add the Speech Bubble and then inserted the text to one of my photos; but evidently I'm wrong in feeling it was with, in or whatever, iPhoto.
    And thanks for catching Terence's back, as it restores my faith in the 'Level 10' rating system. Researching other topics, I'm aware he is extremely computer intelligent and his(as Yours) attempted help was greatly appreciated. We all simply can't a point across sometimes and come out smelling like roses. :~)
    And evidently asking the question correctly obviously Is the trick, as well as challenge. As are Replies by those grateful enough to at least Try to help; as well as those like Myself seeking and truly appreciating it.
    So, please accept my apology for evidently Not asking my question correctly; and allow me to garner Anyone's help whose willing to at least Try. Still being a PageMaker 6.5 stabber, I'm not computer literate enough nor have the appropriate time now to even try to answer all your questions. However the correct answer I found on How to add Text in the Bubble(However I was able to Actually get the Bubble On the Pic): "Double-Click inside the Bubble and begin typing". Possibly I placed the Bubble on or in the Pic, through 'Preview'.
    Then was immediately stumped on my questions I'm seeking correct answers to which were listed in my initial response and again below. Answers will again be greatly appreciated.

      D. And at the moment Most of All: How to Delete or Remove the Bubble from the Pic??

  • How can I add a "thought bubble" to a photo?  ty

    How can I add a "thought bubble" to a photo?  TY

    Go to your Home Folder > Pictures. Here is your iPhoto Library If you didn't assign a special name then the default will be "iPhoto Library". Control-click for the contextual menu (right click if using a mouse with a secondary button) and choose; "Show Package Contents".In that new window that opens find something like this: "Originals > 2011 > …". Keep clicking open the folders until you find the desired photo. Now you can Option-drag it to the Desktop.
    No, don't do that.
    1. Accessing your files in the Library package is not supported
    2. It's dangerous. You can easily trash your Library doing this.
    3. It's inefficient. Rooting through all the folders of the Library is slow. Even iPhoto's Show File command is better than that.
    4. It's utterly unneceeasy. Just use the application in the way it's designed to work. It's safe and fast. Simply set Preview (or whatever) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Preview or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
    Other than that:
    There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    (Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
    You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
    If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
    If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
    For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
    Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
    For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
    b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • How do I disable the typing thought bubble in iChat for AIM?

    I have Mac OS X 10.7.1 along with iChat 6.0.  When chatting with AIM my buddy can see when I begin to type via the ... bubble .  How can I disable my buddies from seeing when I begin to type?
    If not iChat needs to be updated with this feature in the next version.

    Hi,
    This thread just goes to prove you can't please all of the people all of the time.
    (Most people notice that their thought bubbles stop working and want to fix it)
    As the info comes from AIM I am not sure it would be that easy to have a setting to Disable it.
    Having said that I have just checked my very old AIM for Mac version 4.7 (the last in the previous numbering system) and it does have an option to "Disable People seeing I am typing".  (Or very close wording to that)

  • How can I hide the thought bubble when typing?

    Very simple, I'd love to know how to hide the bubble with the ellipsis that pops up for others to see when I'm typing. I'm hoping this is an easy question for someone to answer.
    I knew how to do it before, but now not so much.
    Thanks!

    Don't think there's any way of doing it in iChat but maybe some of the add-ons (such as Chax) can do it.

  • What does an icon of a pr of binoculars mean inside a conversation bubble for dialogue in a text message?

    I got an answer that was a conversation bubble with a pair of binoculars in it.  What does it mean??

    Thanks, Paul, for the prompt reply.Obviously, your answer isn't what I wanted to hear, but feared. When I get home tonight I'll try finding the install disk and booting from that. Fortunately, I still have a MacBook Pro that is running fine.  Incidentally, I have a Western Digital external Hard Drive that has very little, if anything on it. But since I can't open anything on the iMac, I guess I'll have to see if the install disk works before I try to figure out IF I can use that WD-External drive temporarily rather than replace the HD on the iMac. Any clues on what a replacement drive and labor runs for that sort of iMac repair?

  • How to color a speech bubble itself?

    I'm working with PE11. Eaisrsy to insert a speech bubble from the gaphics and to change the color of the text, but I also want to change the inside's color of the bubble? Is this possible and how?
    Thx,
    Jan

    jan breugel
    I have an idea on how to go about changing the color of the inside of the speech bubble independent of changing the font color as well. This is an all Premiere Elements idea, no Photoshop Elements involved.
    I do not know how much experience you have with Premiere Elements (any version) so I will give you the plan, and then you can tell me how
    much detail I need to go into.
    Expert workspace
    1. From Graphics/Thought and Speech Bubbles, drag one of the Speech Bubble into Video Track 2.
    2. From fx Effects/Image Control/Color Replace, drag the Color Replace effect into the Speech Bubble clip on Video Track 2.
    3. Under Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Color Replace Panel expanded, use the set up icon in the panel to change the
    color inside the Speech Bubble. Reminder, in the set up, Target Color = old and Replace Color = new.
    4. Double click the Speech Bubble clip on Video Track 2 to open the Titler. In the Titler/Text Section, use the Color Properties to change the color of the
    font. Close out of the Titler.
    5. With the Titler closed, select the Speech Bubble clip on Video Track 2, and resize and reposition it as needed.
    Looking forward to exploration and experimentation with the suggestion.
    Please let me know if any questions or need clarification.
    Thanks.

  • Pipes vs. sync

    I am studying inter-thread communication, and all i read about are sync blocks (and volatile). But what about PipedStreams ?
    Are there ever debates: "shall we use pipes, or synchronization" Or, is the choice so obvious there is never a debate? Or is it impossible to compare a Pipe with a sync block (ike "apples vs. oranges")? I can only imagine very simple test cases for pipes. Maybe, its almost similar to opening a socket with a different thread on the same host. (Except for possible firewall issues) one could maybe use circular sockets in a similar way to a standard pipes???? Anyway, thanks for reading.

    Thank you for your insight regarding Pipes . I think I will put pipe knowledge near the bottom of my long list of "Things to Learn" in Java. Since I made the test code tonight, here it is. I am not really sure if it attests to my point:
    public class Main extends Thread {
      public static void main(String[] args) {  new Main().start();  }
      public void run() {
        PipedInputStream pin = new PipedInputStream();
        PipedOutputStream pout = new PipedOutputStream(pin);
        CopyMe copyMe = new CopyMe();
        copyMe.id = -1;
        ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(pout);
        oos.writeObject(copyMe);
        ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(pin);
        CopyMe copyMe2 = (CopyMe) ois.readObject();
        copyMe2.id = 15;
        copyMe.start();
        copyMe2.start();
    public class CopyMe extends Thread implements Serializable {
      public int id = -1;
      public void run() {
        List<Integer> list = new ArrayList<Integer>();
        for (;;) {
          if (id > 0) {  for (int i = 1; i < id; i += 2) {  list.add(i); }  }
          System.out.println("________--> " + list.size());
          Thread.sleep(1221);
    }I read in the API, "twisting / serializing" two pipes in one thread is deadlock prone. But, since I started studying pipes (again) I thought about deadlock safety with pipes between 2 threads. And I just got conflicted feeling about deep-copy and serialization and cloning. I am ok, and thank you for your time.

  • I do not have a speech bubble option in Preview...

    The latest version of Preview app from OS X Mountain Lion onward feature a couple of fun menu items that let you quickly add comic book styled speech bubbles to any photo. It’s extremely easy to use, but it’s also easy to overlook, so here’s how to use them to add some humor to any picture:
    Open an image in Preview and click the “Show Edit Toolbar” button that looks like a square with a pen in it, or hit Command+Shift+A
    Click on either the speech bubble icon or the thought bubble icon, then click and drag on the picture to place the bubble
    Type what you want in the bubble, adjusting the font and size as desired using the Fonts panel
    I have Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and version 6.0.1. (765.4) of Preview. What gives?

    I can't believe that was the answer to my problem.
    How obvious, lol. It is SO obvious, it blows my mind how simple a solution it is.
    Thank you for your answer.

  • Is it possible to disable text bubble grouping?

    i have this thing where sometimes i send several shorter messages within one minute. several people i talk to do this as well.
    in the older design each message would have its own separate line/box which was fine, easy to keep track of, but with the new look everything is grouped into one big wall of text inside a text bubble, which is pretty hard to read and keep track of due to a large amount of text with no linebreaks or other way to help reading it.
    is there a way to "un-group" those messages, so each message i/others send is in its own box, like how it'd look if the messages were posted over 1 minute apart?

    TThanks for the info.
    CAn can you elaborate on how I would set up a security policy.  Is it with a GPO?
    thank you.

  • Creating a new title template from a .psd file

    We weren't happy with any of the lower thirds that Premiere had for us, so I got one of the people in my office to create a lower third that would look nicer, but now I've just got this .psd image that I don't seem to be able to get into title form.
    Its just an image of a thought bubble that says "science tips" and then a darly shaded rectangle with blue text inside of it, but when I try to import the .psd image as a logo in the titler screen it comes up with the thought bubble very washed out and see through ( the thought bubble is white on the inside in the .psd file) and the darkly shaded area doesn't show up at all.
    I fell this may be a photoshop error on my part as likely as anything else,  but mostly, I'm wondering if bringing it in as a logo is the right way to go?
    -Dan

    Ann,
    I like that workflow.
    I handle my "custom" Lower-Thirds (or similar) just a bit differently. I create the artwork in PS, and then Import that as an Asset. I'll then do a regular Title for just the text, placing it above the PSD of my graphic. My workflow does mean that I will need to Import that PSD into each Project, but I put a copy into my Common Assets folder, for ease of Importing, as is required. I can also individually animate each element, as is needed. If I wish to animate the Layered elements of the graphic, I'll Import as a Sequence, keeping my Layers, but with Lower-Thirds, I usually end up animating both the graphic and the text as a unit, i.e. the same Keyframing for each of those elements.
    Your method will all one to do a full Save_As a Template, and allow for easy changes of the text, as the graphic is but a logo. Neat!
    Thanks,
    Hunt

  • How to select a shape from pen tool for paint bucket

    I was under the notion that I could make a shape with the pen tool and if I closed the the shape it would then be selected in a way that would allow me to color the interior with paint bucket.
    However, when I splash the paintbucket inside my shape, it paints the whole layer, not just the part inside my shape.
    Obviously I don't understand how it is supposed to work.
    Apparently I've gone at this the wrong way.. I want to create a freeform shape, that once created will be a selected region in the same way a rectangle or elips would.
    What is the best way to do that?  I'm shooting for thought bubble sort of shape, something along the line of the outline of an egg, but with a tail at one end.

    Added tips from Tip Merchant ($200 consulation fee)
    - on mac - command/ numeric keypad Enter turns the path into a selection. Option delete then fills.
    - an action can be setup to bring up Fill Path from the Path panel menu. Just pressing enter fills with FG color
    These are ways to avoid he paths panel altogether. Best way may be to use the TINY fill path icon in that panel as was pointed out by John

  • Help with buttons within buttons

    I am trying to get stop and play buttons for the background
    music of my site to work within an animated rollover state of a
    separate button. When I put the stop and play buttons into the
    rollover animation they effect the hit state of the button they are
    inside, how do I get around this? If you look at
    www.thepixelplaypen.com/site you will see the menu bar at the
    bottom. If you click on the references button (the 3d thought
    bubble) i have directed it to how I want the page to look and work
    when the music bar is 'rolled over'.

    I've look at the site but am not sure what you mean. 1st I
    don't know what the music bar is. Are you talking about the menu
    bar when it's blank and minimized? Because when I go over that it
    jumps from expanding to its full form to back to its minimized
    state over and over.
    I think what you need is something a little more involved
    than the over/out states buttons give you.
    I would say a two state movie clip with a variable that flags
    on and off for the menu. Have the "toggle" turn off when moved out
    from the menu, but not when over the music switch. For example, a 2
    second delay that tests for the toggle being off, and the music
    button turns it on on over...
    Hope that helps...
