PIR Consumption - Sales Order & Service Order

All -
I've come across an issue in our system as it relates to PIR consumption.  We create a PIR forecast which is designed to be consumed by orders.  (MM strategy group 40, PIR consumption indicator 1).  PIR is successfully consumed upon sales order creation.
In the same area of our business (aftermarket service and repair), we also require PIR consumption when component requirements are added to our repair service orders.
With the current setup (strat 40, CI 1), the PIR is not consumed after service order component addition.  It adds to the total material requirements.
I've altered our settings across the board to account for both order types, however, i am hitting a wall as to if my new settings are a help or a hinderance.
New settings are (MM strat 40, MM mixed MRP mode 3, PIR CI 3).
Visually, i can see that my total PIR count is actively reduced via MD04 monitoring, however, when looking at the PIR directly, I see that the PIRs have not been consumed.  Instead they are still active and the reqs are hidden.
I don't know if consumption of PIR is allowed for multiple order types.  I know that strat 40 directly relates to sales order requirement planning.  I do not know if there is a strategy that works similarly for both sales order AND service order types.  I'm also very skeptical of using mixed MRP mode 3 to accomplish the PIR consumption.
Could anyone enlighten me on this?  I can't find any information on this sort of order types with consumption.  If it's not possible to combine order types with PIR consumption, so be it.  I'd just like some info.
Thank you in advance,
Ehren

Sure thing. I'm running in our test client for the results, but my settings are identical:
Image 1 = MD04 result of addition of PIR using VSF with consumption indicator 3:
Image 2 = Addition of sales order requirement for the same part, VQTEST1.  Successfully consumes qty 1 of PIR material:
Image 3 = Modification of service order to add qty 1 of component VQTEST1. Rather than consuming one of the remaining PIRs, the order created a new requirement above the PIR forecast:

    Hello,
Repair order is an SD document with doc type RAS. Through thye repair order, and the equipment for service(material) will be received (retrun delivery), and the outbound delivery of the repaired material will happen.
Service order (PM/CS order) will capture the cost of the service, the spare parts used for the service.. etc. After capturing all, the invoice will be generated for the actual costs by resource related billing (DP90).
    Hope you are clear.

  • Use of PIR consumption for advance material order (MTO prototype)

    Hi planing Gurus,
I am investigating the possibility to use PIR to trigger replenishement long lead time sub level mfg or purchase products in the context of building MTO prototype. I believe I could use planning strategy 70/consumption mode VSFB to handle eventual actual requirements that will be created at higher levels.
Q1. The parameters Fwd and Bwd consumption in MRP 3 are limitted. For instance, if I set 7 days each the system will only consider actual demand in this timeframe. I am not too in favor to set large value there to manage the fact that actual demand may not occur exactly as planned by the PIR. Is there any way the consumption can be iterative (eg. bwd 7, fwd 7, bwd 14, fwd 14)?
Q2. Is there another mean to trigger replenishment of long lead time mfg part/purch part in the contexte of MTO prototype and manage consumption.
Your help is greatly appreciate and speed up my curve to learn SAP PP architecture (I have experience with other mfg systems).
    Francois Paquet

    You had another question
Q2. Is there another mean to trigger replenishment of long lead time mfg part/purch part in the contexte of MTO prototype and manage consumption.
FOr this I would suggest even looking at Planning strategy (PS) = 50.
This strategy are probably the most widely-used strategies in a make-to-order environment.
Procurement of the long lead items (components) is planned by means of planned independent requirements entered at the finished product level. The system creates special planned orders at the finished product level for these planned independent requirements. These orders are only relevant for production once a sales order for the finished product exists.
The assemblies are, however, produced or procured before the sales order is entered. Production is carried out up to one level before the finished product level, and the assemblies and components required for producing the finished product are placed in stock to await the incoming sales order.
Final assembly is triggered once a sales order has been entered.
Hope this helps you take a good decision.
    Thanks,
    Ram

  • Restricting PIR consumption based on custom Order Type

    Hello Experts,
We have implemented BADI MD_PIR_FLEX_CONS in our system ( Version 4.7 )so that we can restrict the consumption of Order Reservations.
For this we have added code as per OSS Notes# 608760 and 127370 for the BADI Interface.
We have included MRP Element "AR" so that consumption can happen for the order reservations.
The BADI is restricting consumption of PIR now for the order reservations, but now we want to restrict the Consumption of independent requirement only against reservation generated by customized Order type ( Say ZXXX ).
Does this functionality exist for this BADI? If yes, then how can we implement this?
    Regards,
    Debasish Sahu

    Hello Prakash,
    Thanks for your response.
The Def. Documentation does not describe how the process is carried out.
    The documentation is as follows:
    Application component:  PP-MRP, PP-MP-DEM, PP-MP-LTP
    Function group:  M60A, M61X
You can use Business Add-In (BAdI) MD_PIR_FLEX_CONS to make the consumption and reduction processes for planned independent requirements more flexible.
In the SAP R/3 standard system there were previously four possibilities for consumption and reduction of planned independent requirements (planned independent requirements consumption indicator):
    SPACE     no consumption
'1'     Consumption with customer requirements (planned independent requirements)
'2'     Consumption with dependent requirements, dependent and manual reservations, release order requirements from stock transfers (dependent requirements)
'3'     Consumption with planned independent requirements and dependent requirements
You can use Business Add-In MD_PIR_FLEX_CONS to realize consumption processes in which there are controls to define for each MRP element whether consumption or reduction should occur.
This Business Add-In replaces modification note 127370 in release 4.70.
    &PRECONDITIONS&

In the sample-coding, planned independent requirements with consumption indicator '4' (see method documentation) are consumed against all of the consumable SD document types (sales orders, SD scheduling agreement schedule lines, deliveries) and release order requirements from stock transfer purchase procurement proposals (purchase orders, purchase requisitions, scheduling agreement schedule lines, planned orders).

    <DS:IO.IF_EX_MD_PIR_FLEX_CONS        CHECK_PIR_CONS_REDUC> Documentation on BAdI method CHECK_PIR_CONS_REDUC

  • Change in Sales Order/Service Order is updating customer master data

    Hello Experts,
Here is the change happening in CUSTOMER MASTER RECORD for very few number of cases. This we are not able to replicate, since not able to find out, in which cases it is happening.
    Scenario:
When the user tries to change address in customer screen (For eg., NAME2,NAME3 ,NAME4 etc.) of change transactions (VA02 OR IW32), the same change is being reflected or updated in the customer master record.
Note : We tried again doing the change(For the already changed order) in change transactions (VA02 OR IW32) and found that the change was not updating customer master, this time.
Hence, not able to replicate. Kindly suggest.
Resolvable suggestion would be highly appreciable.
    Regards
    Mahesh

I never heard of this before. Per standard, only when customer master address is changed (master data), the changes will reflect in the documents (transactional data). Your scenario reflects the other way round. Hence you may need to debug the program SAPMV45A and see any enhancement is causing this.

  • How material transfers from sales order to service order

    Hi All,
In case of sales order (Debit memo request or quotation) created from service order, material in service order is transferred to sales order via DIP profile.
    but in case of,
service order created from sales order how the material flows from sales order to service order.
    In customer service module.

If Service Order gets created from Sales order, operations & components are transferred to Service order through Service Product assignment in Sales Order.
Service Product will be created in MM01 & this will be linked to Task list in OISD. By assigning this Service Product in Sales Order, Service order will be created automatically with the assigned Task list.

  • Notification data copy to Service orders created from sales order.

    Hi,
In our business scenario, we are creating sales order from service notification & service order from sales order. Document flow will be Service Notification  -> Sales Order -> Service Order.
Here user wants that Notification data to be copied to service order. This is possible when we create service order directly from notification. Buit in our case we are not creating service order directly from Notification, we are creating service order from sales order. in this case notifiationdata is not getting copied to service order.
Our ABAPer's are also tried to find the exit or enhancement points, but not able to find any thing for this requirement.
Pl. suggest, how to do it.
    Thank you in advance.

The only way I have seen to do this kind of billing is using Resource Related Billing (RRB) and customizing of the Dynamic Item Processer Profile (DIP Profile)
It is not exactly like a simple flow of Notification > Sales Order > Service order (with all of the problems of how to copy notification data through to Service order) but might be a possible solution for you ?

  • Diff. between Sales order and Service order

    Hi Gurus,
Can anybody tell me what is the diff. between sales and service order? What are the customization settings will be different for the sales and service order?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Devi,
Both are two different scenarios. But both are transactions having different purpose.
Sales order comes to the picture when ever any product or service are going to sale. Service order comes to the picture either after sales order processing, when ever any damage happened to the product or replacement required or in order to return the product. or Service sales scenario.
For Configuration settings please refer the Best Practices Configuration guides.

  • MRP for Service Order

    Hi Friends,
My client want to run the MRP according to  Material Group and according to service order. What are the possible ways to run the MRP? How my problem can be resolved? Please reply...
    Regards,

    Hi Edit,
The question is not to run MRP for Service materials, - to run MRP for the Materials in a Service Order.
I have one service order in which I have raised requirement for 10 materials (eg. Raw materials).
MRP can be run Plant wise or Material wise. If  I run Plant wise MRP, system will gather all the requirement that are required in the plant (including Sales order, Service order, Prod order etc..).
If I run the MRP Material wise, system will gather the requirement of that material in all types of orders.
But the requirement is to run the MRP only for a particular Service order (only for the materials and quantities required in the given Service order) and generate PR and PO for procurement. The material may also be required for another service order, sales order or prod order. MRP should not gather the requirement for other orders.
Hope my explanation is clear. Prasanna, please post the correct scenario if there are any deviation in my understanding of your query.
I am also Looking for the solution. If any one have idea please help us to solve the issue.
    Thanks,

  • Restriction to component selection in Service Order

    Hi,
Scenario is a Repair Technician selects a Fault Code in the Notification. Component entry (Part consumption) in the Service Order is allowed only if the selected Fault Code requires a Part replacement.
Is it possible to restrict component selection in the Service Order based on Fault code in its corresponding Notification ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
May be u can maintain BOM and while selecting component let him go to LIST and select the maintained component. This may reduce ur errors for selecting.

  • Sold to Party information in Service order cleared automatically

    Hi,
I need a clarification. In my case Service Order getting generated from Sales Order.
Before saving the sales order,in the generated Service order(under schedule lines), Iam seeing the Sold-to-Party is populated automatically.
After saving the order, when I open the Service order, Sold-To -Party field is blank.
Why system is clearing the Sold-To-Party infor in Service order upon saving of sales order.pl suggest me.
    Regards
    SB

    Hi Pete,
No.If I enter the STP in change mode of Service Order, its accepting without any issues.
One more information is some times in Sales Order, Service Order will not get generated due to credit limit failure. In VKM3 , if I process the same  sales Order, then Service Order gets generated and in this case STP information is there.
    Means,
If the service order gets generated from Sales Order,STP info is not there in SO even though its appearing before saving of Sales order.
If the Service Order gets generated outside the sales orders(in VKM3),STP information is there.
I have checked with my Technical guys....No exits in place.....any settings in Sales Order-Service Link is there for this behaviour.
    Regards

  • Link between Service Order / Confirmation in CRM and Purchase Order in ECC

    Hi all,
Does anyone knows what the possible link is between a Service Order / Service Order Confirmation in CRM and a Purchase Order in ECC ? I heard that this could be found somewhere in the document flow of a Service Order ....
How do we get the Purchase Order number from ECC in the Document flow section of an Service Order in CRM ?
We need the PO number somehow to be able to create a Goods Received document in ECC from CRM.
    BR,
    Abjuh

    Hello Abjuh,
As of CRM 4.0 (with Service Industry extensions), you can automatically create ECC Purchase Orders from a CRM service order.
It is possible to track the status of the individual service order items with the document flow.
Please refer to the SAP Help for more information.
