Pismo will play CD/DVD but not burn them

When I put in blank CDs they will spin fast for while and then quit and nothing shows up on the desktop. So I tried to use iTunes to burn a playlist and when I clicked on burn I got the message disc burner or software not found. I am using 10.2.8 currently as I need to update from original 6 Gb that this came with 6 years ago.

Your Pismo came with a DVD-ROM drive; this is a read-only DVD and CD drive.
If you wish to burn CDs, you want a DVD/CD-RW "combo" drive.
If you wish to burn CDs and DVDs, you want a DVD-/+RW "super" drive.
Both of these drives also read both DVDs and CDs. Here is an example of what you can buy in both kits and complete drives.

Is it possible for my dvd player to be able to play dvds but not burn them anymore?

So my dvd player will play movies but it will not let me burn them anymore. I didn't even think this was possible? Do I need to just replace it or is there a way to actually get it to burn again?

Probably the SuperDrive is damaged, if it doesn't allow you to burn DVDs. You have two possibilities:
1. Take the computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get a new SuperDrive.
2. Buy an external optical drive for your iMac

Media center will play regular dvd but not blu ray

I have seen a few questions on this but non that assist my particular situation. When I place a regular DVD in the drive it reads the dvd and says Disc ready for playing, please press start to play..I press start and a regular DVD starts right up. If I place a Blu Ray into the drive it tells me, Disc is ready for playing please press start..I do and nothing happens. Any assistance would be greaty appreciated..it is a brand new pavilion dv7 with beats thanks

Disable AVGs Resident shield and restart the notebook. Download the latests installer for HP MediaSmart DVD on the link below and save it to your Desktop.

When the download has completed, right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation - this should initially uninstall your current version before installing the new one. When this has finished, restart the notebook again and let Windows fully load before trying to play a Blu ray disc. If it now works ok, you will need to add the whole HP MediaSmart DVD folder ( in your Program Files list ) to the list of exclusions that AVG will not scan before re-enabling the Resident Shield.

I recommend trying CDBurnerXP for burning video CD's. I have been using it for years without a glitch. I use it mainly for burning ISO's, but have used it for all types. Please let us know if it works or not.

Th AVPlayerHD works well for playing other video types. You can transfer the videos via USB in the app tab in iTunes on your computer. When you open that tab when you have you iPad connected to the computer scroll down and you will see apps listed on the left and a blank on the right. Click on the app and then click on the add button under the blank window on the right. Then navigate to the video you want to play and it will transfer it to the iPad. I have about 14 movies on mine using AVPlayerHD. works very well. Also have VLC player (before it was yanked from the app store). Works about the same.
You can also get the app Air Video and stream the video to from your computer to the iPad, and even have Theo ad connected to the tv to watch on there. I do that all the time with my iPhone. Saves time with not having to sync movies all the time.

If you haven't tried re syncing the apps using iTunes..
Connect the iPad to your computer. Select it under Devices left side of the iTunes window. Select Apps from the menu, make sure the boxes next to those apps are selected then click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.

okasy if you want to move the music from the other comptuer into your comptuer you can > but if they were purchased with a different APPLE id then you need to authorize the comptuer to play them .

I burned a dvd on using DVDSP and it will not play on our dvd player but will play on the macbook pro dvd player. Should I try a DVD-R or are there other considerations that I should be aware of?

I created dvd's using idvd and successfully played them in our dvd players, but when I created dvd using the same videos, I cannot play them on the dvd player.I used the standard menu template in idvd to create the dvd. I created a menu with HD video in DVDSP is that the issue as to why it won't play?

i created a hd slideshow aprox 25jpg images at 1280x720. in dvdsp project preferences are set to hd dvd, slideshow is set to 1280x720p. i have one image set as a menu with one button to play the slideshow. the simulation works fine. the disc burns fine and will play in the computer but not in dvd player. i have tried 4 different players. i also tried setting the prefs to sd then reburn disc. also tried converting the slide show to a track with the smae result. the media im using is imation dvd-r.
any help would be greatly apreciated!

HD discs will not play in SD players. Also changing the prefs to SD will not change an existing HD project to an SD project (you cannot go from HD to SD in a project, you need to recreate it as an SD, though you can change an SD to HD project)

i just started to learn how to use my mac/iDVD and I burned two DVd's without any issues and they played fine on my regular tv/dvd player. I had a basic image/audio for the background.
I made another DVD with a video for the menu background and more data on it-but it still was under 4.7 Gb of storage..etc. But I went to play it on my tv/dvd player and it says "incorrect disc" and will not read it,yet it will play fine on my Mac.
Any reason why this won't work vs. my other two that burned fine??

Did you burn it as an Audio CD or a Data CD? You may have a home CD player that can play data discs while the car player cannot...

DVD Created with IDVD Will Play on Computer, But Not in DVD Player

I loaded some video into IMovie, then went to IDVD to create a DVD. It previews fine and the disk burned fine. I can play the disk back in the computer, but when I drop it in a Panasonic DVD Player, it won't play.
I've been burning for some time now and haven't had this problem before. Disks burned two weeks ago are fine, these are not.
I've tried a couple different brands of disks, it makes no matter.
I'm at a loss.

One of the limitations of iDVD 4 is that 'out of the box' it doesn't support the creation of disk image files - just burning to writable media.
Your problems sound to be high burn error related. With newer versions of iDVD you can create a disk image file out of iDVD and use Apple's Disk Utility to burn the image to writable media at a low (4x or lower) speed. This reduces the amount of burn errors. None of the iDVD versions prior to the current iDVD '08 had any provision for reducing the burn speed.
What brand of media are you using? (Maxell and Verbatim have good track records around here.)

.mov will play on iPhone but not on computer

I have had this problem intermittently but it has me a little confused. Here is what's going on.
i have recorded several .mov files on my iPhone 5 and I can play each and every one of them from the phone without issues. Now, when i plug the phone into my MacBook, a few of the movies will not play with ANY media player. For example, if I try to open the movie with Quicktime or any other player, like VLC, it is not recognized. It is as if the file is damaged.
Why can my phone play the movie but it appears damaged when plug into my Macbook and/or copied to my machine?

I think you should have updated media players as you are trying to play the clips recorded from iphone 5.
So, you should check your quick time player version & vlc too.

TS2972 Apple TV will play some content but not other content

My AppleTV will recognize the available content on my computer and will play some of it, but when I try to watch other content it says that I must authorize the computer. However, the computer is already authorized, which Apple TV sees because it will play my music and a TV show I've downloaded. The content that it will not play was downloaded directly onto my iPad, and I can watch it on my iPad. When I try to watch it on Apple TV, it says I need to authorize the computer.
This is very frustrating. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Just needed to Re-authorize the computer and every thing worked fine. I imagine this will solve most of the issues that I see posted on here concerning this problem.
