Pivot Point in "Rotate 3D"

hi all,
is there a way to change the pivot point in "rotate 3d" (timlines/add action)?
i have no problems to set a new pivot point with the transform/rotate tool. works well.
but in rotate 3d it rotates around the center of the object.
an example, think of a picture that rotates around a pole.
have a creative day

Thank you for the reply.
Unfortunately it doesn't answer my question.
I DONT want to animate rotating around the center. I have offset the pivot of an object and rotated around that from state 1 to state 2. But the animation interpilation ignores this and still rotates around the center of the object to get from state 1 to 2.
I want the object to swing in to the canvas from its bottom corner but I can't get it to honor where I put the pivot during the actual build of animation.
I am beyond frustrated with the limitations of Catalyst. If I have to go to Flash Builder to add any type of specific function, whats the point, as FB
is 10 times more complex to me than Flash ever was. The reason I am not messing with Flash is that I don't want to screw with code.
but I guess I might as well just stick with Flash as in Catalyst
I can't
Use Gifs
Animate around a changed pivot
Scale a bitmap thats a button (come on really...)
Unreliable results with swf files that have multiple bitmap images in them.
Any type of slightly advance animation, such as ...move a background around to loop,  when I am in a static state.

  • How do I get the rotate tool to default locate the pivot point in the exact center of an object or group of objects?

    My new copy of CC has the default pivot point set to one side, rather than the center. I know I can manually move the pivot point around, but this is not always exact. Is there a way to have AI determine the exact center and then make this the default?

    s,
    We are not talking about the Reference Points in the Transform palette, are we?
    In any case, you may consider the list.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Pivot point in Photoshop CS 4

    Hello
    I seem to have an issue using 3D layers in Photoshop CS 4 ext.
    You see I have a layer which I convert to a 3D layer and I want to rotate the element however I would like to move the pivot point which it rotates from. I am unable to do this. I can not find the pivot point and I am not sure how PS generates the coordinates of the pivot point. This should be a simple task.
    Thanks
    Cheers

    Hello Bart
    Im not sure how your pulling this off. Could you please provide me with acurate step by step on how you are able to do this? cause I am still not able to get a pivot point from a 3D layer.
    Thanks

  • Pivot Point Problem - CS3

    Using cs3 with Windows7, it's been hit or miss lately on whether or not I can adjust the pivot point when doing select, edit>transform>rotate.  Working with a photo yesterday, on several occasions when I tried to adjust the pivot point the entire selected area would move; other times, I was successful in moving the pivot point.  I was working with a .png file but encountered the same problem after converting it to a .tiff.  Even more frustrating was the fact I could adjust the pivot point on one area selected on the photo, but not a different area on the same photo.
    Anybody have any thoughts on this problem?

    It doesn't matter if you want to rotate the cylinder or to
    modify its height.
    If you cannot alter the pivot (of any 3D model) in your 3D
    modeler, James gave you a good advice.
    In your case, all you have to do is to modify the scale (on
    the desired direction) of the group.
    The cylinder (a child) must obey!

  • Setting pivot point

    Hi all,
    I'm using InDesign CS5.  I know that with the Rotate Tool, I can not only rotate an object, but change the position of the point on which it rotates.  I'd like each object in my document to remember where I placed the pivot point...but every time I deselect the object and reselect, the pivot point always moves back to the center...
    This is a long shot, but is it possible to keep the pivot point where I place it?
    Thanks!!!!

    One common workaround for this is to group the object with a larger one whose center is at the desired location, and rotate larger one. One downside might be if the larger object interferes with text wrap etc. One way to deal with this might be to put the larger object on its own layer - InDesign can group across layers; hide the layer when it's not needed, and enable "Suppress text wrap when layer is hidden," in the layer options dialog box.

  • Registration and pivot point issue

    The pivot/rotation points default back to the center of the symbol when I drag them from the library for later use.
    Here's what's happening. I create a symbol, double click to edit and set the registration point (the cross hairs); the pivot point (the white dot) automatically moves to the registration point. Great! When I drag the same symbol from the library to the stage in a later scene the registration point is the same but the pivot point has defaulted to the center position of the symbol. How do I keep this from happening? Am I leaving out a step? Help, please!

    Never mind. I think I figured it out; create the object on the stage, edit the registration and pivot points in the symbol in the library, return to stage, right click symbol and 'set transformation point.' I might be able to set that last action as a hot key.
    Thanks for all your help. You should write the manuals.

  • How to save pivot point with free transform tool?

    Hi,
    I'm animating a picture, have the limbs on different layers, so I can just simply use the free transform tool to rotate them into the good position. Although it's a pain to always reset the pivot point from the center. Is there a way to make Photoshop remember where I want the pivot point to be?
    Thanks,
    Fisher.

    Have you tried recording the Transform operation into an action?  I see that some information is stored about the center in there...

  • Transformation point for rotation

    Before in flashMX the transformation point of rotation was BY
    DEFAULT at the 0, 0 (or point of origin) in a symbol.
    This alone left the use of rotation in tweening fluent and
    easy but now in Flash 8 professional, it as the weird tendancy to
    center itself BY DEFAULT and returning to 0,0 only if I start a
    transformation and double-click on the transformation point.
    I want to know how I can BY DEFAULT put this transformation
    point to 0,0 because this is increasingly annoying when you have a
    lot of symbol to work with.
    Thank you

    When you convert shapes or images to a symbol, you'll see a
    3x3 square
    filled with 9 tiny squares. These allow you to determine the
    default
    registration point for that particular symbol. The convert
    dialog will
    remember settings from last time, so if you click the
    upper-left square
    once, you'll be set.

  • Pivot point keeps shifting

    I'm attempting to create a Flash Puppet animation for my short film done via FlashPro cs6, and, obviously I'm using Tweens & Symbols.
    My character's already rigged and ready to go, but whenever I apply a Motion Tween on a Symbol and try to edit its pose via from Stage or Motion Editor, the Pivot Point keeps shift away from the postion I set it up.

  • Pivot point in image rotation with JAI...

    I'm using JAI to rotate some images...
    but it doesnt seem to rotate around the center of the image..
    here is my codes..
    float xOrigin = ((float)src.getWidth())/2;
    float yOrigin = ((float)src.getHeight())/2;
    float angle = (float)v * (float)(Math.PI/180.0F);
    Interpolation interp = Interpolation.getInstance(Interpolation.INTERP_BICUBIC);
    ParameterBlock params = new ParameterBlock();
    params.addSource(src);
    params.add(xOrigin);
    params.add(yOrigin);
    params.add(angle); // rotation angle
    params.add(interp); // interpolation method
    des = JAI.create("rotate", params);
    displayImage(des);
    note: src and des is defined as PlanarImage.
    any clues why the center point isn't height/2 and width/2??
    thx

    It seems that on problem with the code, I use same code when I rotate the image. How do you display the image? maybe problem is there, after the ratation, the origin of the image changes, if your display method can not handle this, you may not display it properly.

  • Rotate an object from a pivot point?

    Hi, I'm trying to animate the hands of a clock and wondered if it is possible to apply rotation to an anchorpivot/ point that is not in the centre of the object. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how would I achieve this effect?
    Thanks,
    Ross

    Yes you can. Select your element. On the top menu select transform tool. You will see the origin in the middle- a little circle- select it and drag it where you want it.

  • How to change decimal point in Rotate Tool.

    Hi,
    I use the rotate tool to design gauges, like clocks, a lot. I hold the ALT button and click on the center of my drawing and then a window pops up to enter in what degree I want my object to be. Currently the decimal point only allows for hundredths, ex. 45.25 degrees. Is there any way to change this to thousandths or even higher, ex. 45.25125? I've attached a screenshot to show you what I mean.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Laura

    Laura Belle,
    When you enter the full decimal value, that should give you the right rotation whatever the truncated value is.
    At least I hope that is still the case in your version.
    You may test it as follows:
    1) Create a square with W = H = 100;
    2) Rotate thrice, each time inserting 33.333333 degrees, then rotate by -100 degrees;
    3) Look at the W and H values;
    4) Repeat 1) - 3), only with 33.33 degrees and see what you get.
    You should get W = H = 100 in 3) and  something like 100.017 to 100.018 in 4).

  • How to align 2 pivot points

    I have a circle split into segments and a heptagon (7 sides) (see image).
    I need the center of the heptagon and circle to snap to the same point.
    i thought i could snap them both to a place on the grid but i cant seem to snap the centres of both objects to the same point. It's quite important because this image will be printed at 1.5m by 1.5m. So the heptagon has to align with the circle exatly as any errors will be exposed when printed at this size.
    Any help would be greatly appriciated. I have only started to learn illustrator...so thanks in advance!
    Tony

    Tony,
    I had to leave for quite a while, and then I realized the snapping option James then presented, and a way to make everything easy and possible:
    With Smart Guides turned on:
    1) Copy the heptagon in the same place and Object>Path>Average, this is the centre (of gravity) of the heptagon;
    2) Create a no fill no stroke circle large enough to extend past all points of the heptagon;
    3) Move the circle centre to snap to the centre of the heptagon, also select the heptagon and its centre, and Group;
    4) Snap the group to the centre of the circle.
    This will allow you to rotate the heptagon freely at any time after step 3).
