Pivot Table / Query display in Forms10g

Hi,
I have created a pivot table and a pivot view. How do i display these data in Forms10g. When i select either of these, the pivot columns are disabled. i am unable to select the pivot column in Form in the Data block Wizard.

Forms doesn't matter if a column is a pivot column or not as long as it are columns in a table or view. Soyou shouldn't have any problems with the columns. What are the columns named like? And what versions do you use?

  • Is there any possible that pivot table can display date values in the data area like this?

    I use Power Query to load data(including all the of data showed in the following table without accumulating) from database to the Excel Worksheet, and I want to build a pivot table like this.
    But the data area of the pivot table can only accecpt and display numeric data. Is there any possible that such a display can be achieved?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Would you like to upload a sample file through OneDrive? I'd like to see the data source structure and test it.

  • Pivot Table - Rows displayed

    Hi,
    I have a pivot table report which display complete report instead of showing 25 rows first.
    Due to large number of rows we are getting Out of memory issue.
    Is it possible to display 25 rows first in Pivot table. Please help - as users are unable to test this report.
    Thanks,
    Poojak

    Hi,
    I could able to do this for all reports in one shot by modifying the Instanceconfig.xml , with the below tags, make sure to put these tags before AdvancedReporting area.
    <Views>
    <Table>
    <DefaultRowsDisplayed>100</DefaultRowsDis played>
    </Table>
    </Views>
    Or Try:
    To limit number of rows in table view check this : http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/obiee_limit_clause
    For pivot : http://obiee101.blogspot.com/2008/02/obiee-controling-pivot-view-behavior.html
    You can also mention the rows to return in the pivot table properties.
    NOTE: Please mention if this resolved your problem/still facing and close the thread to assist others with similar problems.

  • Pivot table not displaying the values correctly

    Hi,
    I have created a pivot table in which i am using 2 tables. I pulled columns from table A and one column from table B in the measures section to get the grand total. All the rows are comming fine but, its not returning any values for tableB's column(if i pull it into measures).
    If the column stays under rows section, the report is comming out fine.
    I need the total to be displayed in the report.
    Can some body help me with this.
    Thanks

    Hi David,
    i have set the column's aggregation to sum, and it is comming out correctly in the grand total, how ever, i have some of the coulmns which i am taking the %
    col3= (col2/col1)*100
    col1- aggregation set as Sum, col2 and col3 is set as default
    The values for col3 are comming finr in report , where as it is not returning correct value for garnd total row.
    ex: row w--- col1 col2 col3
    row1-----6630 1130 17.04
    row2 6114 994 16.26
    total 23317 3739 56.40(should be 16.2..)
    For col3 it is calculating like this(3739-total of col2/ 6630 -first row of col1 *100)
    Instead of taking total , it is taking the first row.
    I tried different aggregations, but was still unable to get the correct value. Can you please let me know if i am missing anything.
    Can we define custom aggregations.
    Thanks

  • TopN limit on pivot table row display, not selection

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to create a pivot table which only displays the top 20 rows of data I'm interested in. I know I can filter the data with the TopN function or one of the columns "is in top n" filter, but I'm displaying the data as a percentage, and I want these to accurately refelect the full data available not only the items displayed:
    Example:
    Text-Description 1, 160, 80%
    Text-Description 2, 20, 10%
    Text-Description 3, 10, 5%
    Text-Description 4, 10, 5%
    Say I want to only show the top 2 rows, and get:
    Text-Description 1, 160, 80%
    Text-Description 2, 20, 10%
    Whereas what I actually get is:
    Text-Description 1, 160, 88.8%
    Text-Description 2, 20, 11.1%
    The percentage figure is calculated from the data selected, not just to limit the rows displayed. My other way through this is to get the "text description" to also have a conditional field that returns "Others" that uses the TopN function, where I'd get:
    Text-Description 1, 160, 80%
    Text-Description 2, 20, 10%
    Others, 20, 10%
    Does anyone have any other ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Create a dashboard prompt and set the formula as i and set it to edit box and give the presentation variable name.
    use this presentation variable in topn function like
    TOPN(column,@{variablename}{defaultvalue})

  • Require help with Pivot table query in SQL Server 2008

    Hi,
    I have a query regarding converting columns to rows in SQL Server 2008. Please look at the table below.
    I need the output to look something like this :
    The columns for the children can be dynamic or fixed ( max of 6 children) based on the Family_ID.  For Example: A family can have 1 child or more than 1 child.
    Not sure how to go about it. Would appreciate your help :)

    Looks like you need dynamic pivot on multiple columns. I have two articles on this topic, start from this one

  • Pivot table query - PLEASE HELP

    I have one requirement whichis similar like this.
    I have following tables.
    POSITIONS (one account holds multiple securities)
    account_id     security_id     total
    1          101          300
    1          102          500
    2          102          300
    2          103          600
    3          104          400
    4          104          800
    SECURITIES
    security_id     security_name     country          region
    101          ABC          USA          NA
    102          EFG          USA          NA
    103          PQR          GBR          EUR
    104          XYZ          CANADA          NA
    I will get all the account numbers from front end application, for which I have to display output like this. For example I am getting accounts, 1,2,3 and 4 and have to display like columns at the end. I have to groupy by region and country.
    REGION     COUNTRY          SECURITY_ID     SECURITY_NAME          1     2     3     4
    NA     USA          101          ABC               300
                   102          EFG               500     300
                             COUNTRY TOTAL          800     300
         CANADA          104          XYZ                         400     800
                             REGION TOTAL          800     300     400     800
    EUR     GBR          103          PQR                    600
                             COUNTRY TOTAL               600
                             REGION TOTAL          800     900     400     800
    I am working on Oracle 9i Release 2 and front end is .net. Can anyone please help me out with a solution using a query or a stored proc. For Stored procedure, I should send refcurser as OUT parameter or any possible solution.
    Thanks in advance.

    You could do the following:
    In SQL
    You can use the decode function and SUM over it.
    Get the totals by region and country
    select region,country, s.sec_id, sec_name,
    sum(decode(acct_id,1,total,0)) a1,
    sum(decode(acct_id,2,total,0)) a2,
    sum(decode(acct_id,3,total,0)) a3,
    sum(decode(acct_id,4,total,0)) a4
    from positions p, securities s
    where p.SEC_ID = s.SEC_ID
    group by region,country, s.sec_id, sec_name
    You can run similar sql to get totals by country or region separately ... just remove from select and group by clause the column name that you do not want to be displayed.
    The limitation here is that you would need to write the decode statement for every account. Some programming may be needed here.
    In PLSQL
    create or replace procedure acct_sum (cr OUT sys_refcursor)
    is
    cursor c1 is
    select distinct acct_id from positions order by 1 asc;
    var1 varchar2(1000) := ' ';
    var2 varchar2(1000);
    begin
    for i in c1 loop
    var1 := var1 || ' sum(decode(acct_id, ' || i.acct_id || ', total,0) ),';
    end loop;
    var1 := substr(var1,1,length(var1)-1);
    open cr for
    'select region,country, s.sec_id, sec_name, ' || var1 ||
    'from positions p, securities s
    where p.SEC_ID = s.SEC_ID
    group by region,country, s.sec_id, sec_name';
    end acct_sum;
    You may want to modify the code so pass in an array of accounts and loop through the content to get all the accounts.
    Hope this helps

  • How to Display a Detailed Grand Total Column in Pivot Table

    I have a pivot table that looks something like this:
    I would like to display the 'Grand Total' column at the end so that it is separated by year, like this:
    Is there a pivot table setting that would allow it to display this way? I've searched high and low but haven't found anything. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

    You can add a calculated item to the pivot table to display grand totals by year:
    1.  First, turn off grand totals for rows and columns (PIVOTTABLE TOOLS > DESIGN tab > Layout group > Grand Totals > Off for Rows and Columns)
    2.  Click on the Price List (Invoice) field in the pivot table (hidden above the
    Member field?).  You must click on the pivot table cell containing the field name for the entries "Member" and "Non-Member".
    3.  Add the calculated item (PIVOTTABLE TOOLS > ANALYZE tab > Calculations group > Fields, Items & Sets > Calculated item...
    4.  In the "Name:" box, type: Grand Totals
    5.  In the "Formula:" box, type: = Member + 'Non-Member'
    6.  Click the "Add" button, and then click "OK"

  • Calculate a daily average in pivot table view

    I am new to biee 11g and would appreciate any assistance with the following.
    I have a pivot table view which includes a hierarchy column and a single measure, units. The pivot is filtered based on date that is prompted.
    I need to include a column in my pivot table that displays the average unit sales for the period being displayed based on working days. ie total units for the period divided by the number of working days in the period selected. The date dimension contains a flag indicating whether a date is a working day or not.

    Measure Columns can't be hidden like an attribute. How ever you can use custom style sheet for Value and Header Properties to not show the measure.
    for the "Custom CSS Style Options (HTML Only)" under measure properties of the column set "Use Custom CSS Style" value to 'display:none'.
    Let me know if this worked.

  • Calculation on two columns in pivot table

    Hello all,
    I have a view:
    Dept Year Amount
    Accounting $500 2010
    Accounting $700 2011
    Engineering $100 2010
    Engineering $600 2011
    and etc
    pivot table:(data displayed side by side)
    Dept: 2010 2011
    Accounting $500 $700
    Engineering $100 $600
    Is there a way in pivot table to create additional column and do a calculation on that column? New column called 'Change' (actual calculation amount of 2010 minus amount of 2011 per each department). I see the feature which allows to duplicate the columns in pivot table. But this is it... no additional calculations.
    Thank you in advance,
    Sonya

    Deepak,
    My "YEAR_NO' is already in the column area. Once I created 'calculated column' and entered formula '2011'-'2010' I got what I needed.
    Thank you very much for the solution.
    Sonya
    In my view I also have column called EXPENSE. When, I added the 'calculated column' to 'YEAR_NO' with formula '2011'-'2010'. It created two calculated columns 1) after the EXPENSES and the other one after YEAR_NO. Is there a way to be specify to display the DIFFERENCE only once after the YEAR_NO??

  • How to display the column into the narrative or section from pivot table

    I have a report. I have the basic number displayed in the pivot table, but missing one column and I need move one column to the top. The column missing (% of tested) should be calculated by column c /column F's last number, ie, F7=48. My desired column would be H3=c3/F48 9/48, H4=c4/F488/48.... But I could not get the number 48 into my formula, because it is the running total of the all column E. These data is in Pivot table.
    I also need display No of Students 74 in the top of the report. I am not able to get this number from pivot table. It is count distinct on student key from the repository.
    I appreciate any help.

    I wish it was this easy. I must not explain it right. All the score from each student and each question for each subject and each test is stored in database. The number of question for the subject is the max of the questions for each subject. Basically, it needs 'parittion by'... But in the OBIEE, it would not let me add any 'partition by' in the column formula. Is this true? ie, can you use partition by in the column formula? Here are the query from trace file.

  • Excel Pivot Table with Date Hierarchies - query performance degradation

    For the sake of this explanation, I’m going to try and keep it simple. Slicing the data by additional dimensions only makes the issue worse. I’ll keep this description to one fact table and three dimensions. Also, I’m fairly new to SSAS Tabular; I’ve worked
    with SSAS Multidimensional in the past.
    We’ve got a fact table that keeps track of bill pay payments made over time. Currently, we only have about six months of data, with the fact row count at just under 900,000 rows. The grain is daily.
    There is an Account dimension (approx. 460,000 rows), with details about the individual making a payment.
    There is a Payment Category dimension (approx.. 35,000 rows), which essentially groups various Payees into groups which we like to report on: Automobile Loan, Mortgage, Insurance, etc.
    There is the requisite Date dimension  (exactly 62093 rows-more days than we need?), which allows visibility as to what is being paid when.
    Using this DW model, I’ve created a SSAS BISM Tabular model, from which Excel 2010 is ultimately used to perform some analysis, using Pivot Tables. In the tabular model, for easier navigation (doing what I’ve always done in SSAS MultiDimensional), I’ve created
    several Date Hierarchies, Year-Month, Year-Quarter-Month, etc.
    There are currently only two measures defined in the Tabular model: one for the “Sum of PaymentAmount”; one for the “PaymentsProcessed”.
    OK, in Excel 2010, using a Pivot Table, drag the “Sum of PaymentAmount” measure to the Values section, next to/under the PivotTable Field List. Not too exciting, just the grand total of all Payments, for all time.
    Drag the “YearMonth” hierarchy (from the Date dimension) to the “Column Labels” section. After expanding the year hierarchy to see the months, now the totals are for each of the months, for which we have data, for June through November, 2013.
    Drag the “PaymentCategory” (from the Payment Categories dimension) to the “Report Filter” section. Filter accordingly: We just want to see the monthly totals for “Automobile Loans”.
    Now, some details. Drag the “AccountSK” (hiding the actual account numbers) to the “Row Labels” section. This shows all accounts that have made Automobile Loan payments over the last six months, showing the actual payment amounts.
    So far, so good. Remember, I’m using a Date Hierarchy here, in this case “YearMonth”
    Now, if any of the other attributes on the Account dimension table, say “CreditScore”, or “LongName”, are subsequently dragged over to the “Row Lables” section, under the “AccountSK”, the results will never come back, before timing out or by giving up and
    pressing ESCape!
    If this exact scenario is done by removing the Date Hierarchy, “YearMonth” from the “Column Labels” and replace it with “Year” and “MonthName” attributes from the Date dimension, these fields not being in any sort of hierarchy, adding an additional “Account”
    attribute does not cause any substantial delay.
    What I’m trying to find out is why is this happening? Is there anything I can do as a work around, other than what I’ve done by not using a Date Hierarchy? Is this a known issue with DAX and the query conversion to MDX? Something else?
    I’ve done a SQL Profiler trace, but I’m not sure at this point what it all means. In the MDX query there is a CrossJoin involved. There are also numerous VertiPaq Scans which seems to be going through each and every AccountSK in the Account dimension, not
    just the ones filtered, to get an additional attribute (About 3,600 accounts which are “Automobile Loan” payments.).
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks! Happy Holidays!

    Thanks for your reply Marco. I've been reading your book, too, getting into Tabular.
    I've set up the Excel Pivot Table using either the Year/MonthName levels, or the YearMonth hierarchy and then adding the additional attribute for the CreditScore.
    Incidentally, when using the YearMonth hierarchy and adding the CreditScore, all is well, if the Year has not been "opened". When this is done, I suspect the same thing is going on.
    From SQL Profiler, each of the individual MDX queries below (formatted a bit for readability).
    Thanks!

  • Power Query; How do I reference a Power Pivot table from a Power Query query

    Hi,
    It's pretty awesome how you can define Extract Transform and Load processes within Power Query without having to type in a single line of code. However how do I reference a Power Pivot table from a Power Query query to avoid me repeatedly accessing
    the same data source (CSV) file with a view to increasing performance?
    We are aware of the reference sub menu option with Power Query. However the new query created by the "reference" option still seems to refresh data from the data source (CSV) rather than just referencing the base query. Is this understanding
    correct? There does seem to be a lot of hard disk activity when re-running the new query which is based on a base query rather than a data source.  So we were hoping the new query would just need to reference the base query in memory rather than rescanning
    the hard disk. Is there any way to ensure that the reference query just rescans the base query in memory?
    Kind Regards,
    Kieran.
    Kieran Patrick Wood http://www.innovativebusinessintelligence.com http://uk.linkedin.com/in/kieranpatrickwood http://kieranwood.wordpress.com/

    Hi Kieran,
    This sounds like something to be suggested for a future release. At the present time, Power Query will always re-run the entire Power Query query when refreshed. The Reference feature is analogous to a SQL view whereby the underlying query is always re-executed
    when it's queried, or in this case refreshed. Even something like using the Power Query cache to minimise the amount of data re-read from the disk would be helpful for performance but the cache is only used for the preview data and stored locally.
    It would be a good idea to suggest this feature to the Power BI team via the feedback smiley face.
    Regards,
    Michael Amadi

    I want to Group by dates and move the Hunt to columns calculating their counts and sum their marks too. Like given below.
    I wrote a pivot query like below but If i group it with dates and calculate the total marks it throws aggregate errors.
    Create Table Student_Log ([Date] datetime ,Student varchar (20), Subject varchar (20) ,Hunt int ,Marks int )
    Go
    INSERT INTO Student_Log ([Date],Student, [Subject],Hunt,Marks) VALUES('2014-02-18 15:00:00.000','Sam ','Maths','1','20')
    INSERT INTO Student_Log ([Date],Student, [Subject],Hunt,Marks) VALUES('2014-02-18 15:00:00.000','Sam ','Maths','1','10')
    INSERT INTO Student_Log ([Date],Student, [Subject],Hunt,Marks) VALUES('2014-02-18 15:00:00.000','Sam ','Maths','2','30')
    INSERT INTO Student_Log ([Date],Student, [Subject],Hunt,Marks) VALUES('2014-02-18 15:00:00.000','Luke','Science','1','50')
    INSERT INTO Student_Log ([Date],Student, [Subject],Hunt,Marks) VALUES('2014-02-17 15:00:00.000','Sam ','Maths','2','50')
    INSERT INTO Student_Log ([Date],Student, [Subject],Hunt,Marks) VALUES('2014-02-17 15:00:00.000','Luke','Science','2','60')
    INSERT INTO Student_Log ([Date],Student, [Subject],Hunt,Marks) VALUES('2014-02-16 15:00:00.000','Luke','Science','2','20')
    INSERT INTO Student_Log ([Date],Student, [Subject],Hunt,Marks) VALUES('2014-02-16 15:00:00.000','Luke','Science','3','20')
    Go
    select * from Student_Log
    select [DATE] , [Student], [Subject] ,[1],[2],[3],[4],Total =([1]+[2]+[3]+[4])
    from
    ( select [Date], [Student], [Subject],[Hunt],[Marks] from Student_Log
    )x
    pivot
    count ( [Hunt]) for [Hunt]
    in ([1],[2],[3],[4])
    )p
    order by [Date] desc
    I have done this far only. More than this I need to enhance it with the Percentage of Hunts for each Student.
    ie like below table.
    On 18th Sam in Maths he had 2 rows on 1st hunt  and 1 row on 2nd hunt. So On the Pivot table is it possible to represent it on percentage using the Total Attempts column.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Its runnung in SQL 2000 Server.
