Pixar Shorts

When syncing with Apple TV I get an error message relating to 5 of my 7 Pixar Short - that the video format is not supported by Apple TV but 2 of them sync without a problem. I can't find a single piece of logic that would explain this - they were all downloaded from iTunes using the same account and stored in the same way since, other than the two that do sync are the two most recent purchased.
Anyone got any brain waves on this one?

could be any number of things that make it not compatible with tv.
just because it's in itunes does not make it compatible.
what is the frame rate of the one that's don't work?
what is the resolution?
what is the codec used ?
you can find all this info in quicktime>movie inspector.

  • Can't synch Pixar Short Films

Anyone know why? I have my movies set to synch all...but they don't show up under "movies" or even in an alphabetical search (I have For The Birds and Lifted). I have a 30gb iPod video.

Ok...duh...I fixed it! I backed up my library to my computer and reset my iPod video. Selected the movies (among other things) to put back on my iPod and it worked! My Pixar shorts are playing fine now. I can't believe that didn't occur to me sooner.

  • Saving a purchased video short as a Quicktime Movie

I bought the Pixar short Boundin' and opened it with Quicktime in order to do a Save As and saved it in my Movies folder. When I double-click it, it opens and plays fine. However, when I try to play it from the small preview that displays, it continually asks me to 'authorize this machine' in order to play purchased songs, but no matter how many times I authorize this machine it still does not play it in the preview mode. Also, when I tried to burn it to a dvd in iDVD it seemed to work fine, but when I tried to play the finished dvd, Boundin' would not play (I made a dvd with several short movies/trailers for my two year old son), while all the other short clips did. None of the other short clips were iTunes products, however.
Any help would be appreciated, and I apologize for the long post.Perhaps, this is iTunes way of guarding against copyright issues, but I would really like to put this movie on a dvd for my son.
    Thanks,

  • No sound when using Airplay for Movies on Apple TV

For reasons unknow, when I try to stream full length movies (Lion King and Nemo bought from iTunes) from my iPhone or Macbook Pro using Airplay, there is no sound.  When I stream smaller movies, like Boundin' the Pixar Short, there is no problem.
Side note 1: Why do purchased movies not show up like purchased TV shows on Apple TV?  I feel like I shouldn't have to use Airplay for movies if I don't need to use it for TV shows I buy.
Side note 2: For some Netflix movies played directly from Apple TV there is no sound.  Other movies work fine and the movies that work or don't work seem to change day to day.
    Thanks for your help.

Apple has not negotiated the rights to allow this is the assumed reason.
We can't even play Purchased music or TV Shows from the cloud in UK.

  • Trouble adding video files to library

I am unable to add most video files to my video library, the only files i have been able to add so far are quicktime files, also, when i try to open other video files into quicktime it says:
Error -2048: The file is not a movie file
Im not sure if this has anything to do with adding files to itunes library, just thought id mention it. I've tried to convert some of these files to quicktime with Xilisoft Video Converter 3 but when i do it, it says that it failed. If anyone knows of any good reliable video converters (if this would solve my problem) that would be cool. Also, this doesnt have anything to so with my problem, but i cant find any movies or tv shows in my Itunes store, and yes i do have the latest itunes version: 7, i can buy games, music videos, and pixar short films but i cannot find tv shows or movies.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why are my .m4v downloads not playing correctly on QuickTime 7.0.4?

Can anyone out there help, please? I downloaded the Pixar shorts (.m4v format), which should only play on QuickTime. Except they aren't playing correctly: the picture is fine; the sound is stuttering and off-sync. BACKGROUND: I've got a mother of an Windows XP Pro animation system with DSL. I've tried all the QuickTime Preferences suggested on this website to no avail. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

I have a similar problem. When I try to play TV episodes that were downloaded (in .m4v format) using iTunes, QuickTime (7.0.4) will play video without audio, and when I press "stop", QuickTime locks up!
My system used to play these files PERFECTLY, until I downloaded some shareware video format conversion programs (that didn't work, anyway). I believe one of them installed a shared DLL or CODEC or something that is conflicting with QuickTime. I'VE UNINSTALLED AND REINSTALLED QUICKTIME AND ITUNES COUNTLESS TIMES, trying to follow different people's advice, mostly from posts on this site, but nothing helps!!
The thing we have in common is that it sounds like you also have other video software that could have conflicting CODECs or shared DLLs. DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO TRACK THIS PROBLEM DOWN??
And why doesn't Apple make a CLEAN uninstaller and a COMPLETE installer? People shouldn't have to do the manual registry editing and file deletions that other people are recommending!!!!!

  • Can't change Movie Properties

I just bought and downloaded 5 Pixar short subject movies.
I have a 3 year old grandson that I've set up a Mac for.
I've put his favorite movies and trailers on the desktop with large icons and slow double click. I set each movie to open in full screen and close when finished because he can't click on the red close button.
The Pixar movies downloaded into iTunes, so it would be difficult for him to find them to play.
I opened the mp4 in Quicktime and saved as self-contained movie, thinking this would do it. I put the movie on the desktop and opened it to get movie properties. I could not change them, so I can't set to go full screen or to close the movie when done. ???
Is there no way to do this? "Protected" is one thing... but not being able to change the properties seems ridiculous.
    RM

Better to use "reference" instead of "self contained" to save on HD space.
Then unplug the mouse and teach the 3 year old the keyboard.
The "Tab" key will highlight a file and a new tap on it will move the focus to a new item.
Command key and the letter o key will launch QuickTime Player.
Command key and the letter f will send the file to Full Screen (requires Pro).
The Spacebar will start and stop playback. Up/down arrow keys will adjust volume.
Command key and the letter w key will close the window. Escape key will send it out of full screen but leave the window open.
Command key and the Tab key will allow switching between the Finder and QuickTime (focus changes each time the Tab key is clicked) and releasing the Command key will make that app the "front".

  • Front Row Scrolling Issue

Hello. Just looked at the archives for this problem. Doesn't look like any posts on it since Nov. 2009 but it was never solved. So, I'm reopening it in hopes of finding an answer.
In Front Row while scrolling through my movies library the selection will jump back to the last played item unless I can quickly select a new item I'm stuck on the old one. Very odd. Pretty new problem as I've not been using Front Row much until lately. Of note is that it has a hard time figuring out what the preview should be for the selected item.
This is on my MBP with 2gb ram and 500gb hd.

Oops. Spoke too soon. I haven't solved the issue completely.
    Ok, more info:
When I first start FR it works flawlessly. Then, after I select and play a movie and it plays completely (I chose a 5 minute Pixar short) then go back and try to scroll through to find another option, then I get preview errors and the selection jumps to the last played item. Repairing permissions only works if you quite FR and then restart. So I tried just quitting and restarting FR and it solved the problem for the first show then it came back after the video completed its run. So. The work around is to quit and restart FR after every video. That kinda *****.
I checked the console and got this:
    2/14/10 10:22:13 AM com.apple.RemoteUI[1016] CoreAnimation: rendering error 501
Don't know what that means or how to fix it.
    Any thoughts?

  • Cannot preview TV Shows...

I am able to preview the Music Videos and Pixar Shorts just fine, but when I double click on any of the TV Shows to preview them (just as Steve Jobs did in his webcast), I get nothing!
I have tried changing the Store settings to download the entire file before viewing and that makes no difference.
Anyone else having trouble or know of a solution?

I never found a real solution. I was able to go in under preferences and select a different disk partition. It did not make any since the new partition I moved it to had less free space. The only difference between the two is that the one that worked was formated as NTFS and the one that did not was FAT32. iTunes was then able to download the videos how ever iTunes deactivated it self and would not reactivate. So I had the videos but could not watch them or play any music. Grrrrrrr.
I was able to pull a back up on the iTuens config files and install folder to get it back to working. This also moved the folder back to the partition iTunes will not save videos to. It does save music to it though.
I reported it to iTunes customer service they politely told me to get lost.

  • "cannot check for purchased music"

unknown error 11502. That's what it's telling me. what does it mean? how to I buy music?

Earlier today I was having problems like many iTunes users with downloading songs and connecting to the music store. Since then my pre-ordered music and purchased music has been downloading fine. I am having that same error (11502) that I am unable to check for purchased music. I had bought a pixar short video and don't see it in videos or in puchased music. When I try to purchase the movie again I get a message that it has already been purchased and just not downloaded. I tries to download and check which leads to the error message. Any ideas?

  • Change movie Coverflow artwork in latest iTunes?

In the latest iTunes, though I can change the movie poster to whatever frame I want by right-clicking on the movie as it plays and choosing Set Poster Frame, the picture that represents this movie in Coverflow does not change. The picture in iTunes' artwork box changes, but the Coverflow picture does not. Coverflow still shows the irrelevant frame grabbed by iTunes when the movie was added to the library. This wasn't the case with earlier versions of iTunes. Anyone figure out the way to change Coverflow artwork?

I have a similar issue, although slightly more extreme.
I recently had a hard drive crash, so I've had to rebuild my iTunes music library from a backup of the files. I've also upgraded to iTunes 8. I don't know which - if any - of these event was the root of the problem, but in my Movies tab, all my pre-hard disk crash movies have the same poster frame. If I delete any one of the movies, all the remaining files change to a random other poster frame - but they're still all the same. The exception is the Pixar short films I purchased from the iTunes Music Store. There are three of them, but all display the same poster.
If I add a completely new movie to iTunes, it appears to put in a poster frame as expected. If I delete all the originals and then re-import them, I get a different movie frame; but they're still all the same. The Pixar movies will all take the poster of the first one re-imported.
It feels like something is either corrupt, or iTunes 8 has an odd bug in it. Any ideas?

  • Movie trailers section missing in itunes store

just downloaded itunes 7.0.1.8, and the movie trailers section is missing from the iTunes Store menu. where'd it go??
      Windows XP

i know it sounds stupid, but there's no movies link either. it's weird. all i've got under the main iTunes Store menu is...
    Music
    Music Videos
    Audiobooks
    Podcasts
    iPod Games
    Pixar Short Films
... no movies. am i completely missing something? i'm not a newbie to iTunes, been using it for years. i think there's something seriously wrong with this latest version of iTunes. i called Apple support and they just advised to remove & reinstall iTunes. tried it but didn't help a thing.

  • Front Conroller Performance issue

We consider using a front controller servlet as the entrance to the web server.
We could allow direct access to more then one conroller.
We would like an advice regarding to performance - would it be better to use a few controllers to reduce load on the controller servlet, or use one controller servlet.
would the load on the web server would be the same? any other pros / cons to choose between one or few front controllers?
    Thanks
