PIXe-5122 Questions

I'm thinking of getting a PXI system for an ATE I need to build I've poked around and found the 5122 is a good scope, but I have two questions;
Can the 5122 do any kind of frequency analysis, I need to measure THD?
Are the two channels differential?

Hi DanHHunter,
The 5122 itself will not perform the frequency analysis; it is just the digitizer to convert analog signals to the digital domain. The frequency analysis can be done using NI software such as SignalExpress or LabVIEW. LabVIEW will provide the most options and functionality as far as signal processing and analysis. I have included some Help documentation on certain functions in LabVIEW and SignalExpress that will allow you to measure the THD of a signal acquired by the 5122.

To answer your second question, the channels on the 5122 are single-ended. If you would like to take differential measurements, the recommended option for this is to use the 5122 in conjunction with the Tegam 4040A PXI Instrumentation Amplifier. I have included the website for this product. Please refer to the data sheet on that website for the 4040A and the NI 5122.

  • Simple PIX 501 Question

I have a quick and easy question.
Have been using a Cisco PIX 501 Firewall via a DSL connection to my hospital.
Would now like to use it on my connection to Comcast cable connection.
Does the PIX need to be re configured in any way, or can I just plug it in and use.

    Hi,
Ofcourse you can plug it in to see if works without any configuration changes.
In what type of use was the PIX previously? You say it was for a connection to a hospital? But from where?
Are you going to use it just for home use now or will the PIX still server a connection to the hospital?
Who handled the configurations of the PIX originally? I imagine if you can't configure the device yourself you might need some outside help.
I suspect if you need to make configuration changes to it, then the minimum you need is to know the possible username/password to log into the device (unless its on default settings regards to those settings). Also following a certain Cisco guide would also make it possible to erase the passwords from the PIX if you have forgotten them.
It might even be worth looking into a totally new firewall device instead of using money to get the old PIX501 working. You could for example get an ASA5505 which to my understanding should be lowest costing Cisco firewall model.
If you have found the information helpfull you can rate the answer. Thats the best thanks you can give on these forums

  • Palm Pixi simple question for the pros

How do I block my wireless number from being displayed on an outgoing call, or can it be done?
Post relates to: Pixi p120eww (Sprint)

    Hello!
If im interpreting this correctly, you want your number to not be displayed on people's caller ID.  In those cases, 2 ways to do this.
    1.  Use *67 to block calls.  On your phone, dial *67, then whatever phone # you want and dial.  Would need to do this for every call you want you number blocked.
    2.  Contact the carrier to put a block on your #.  Afterwards if you want your # visible, just dial *87 then the phone #.

  • Security System CLD Exam Problem Solution? Insane?

I just started working on the CLD example problems.  I've been using Labview for about 10 years - so everything I do is old-school.
I'm posting this solution for the Security System example.  There are arrays of switches to represent the alarm, bypass, and tamper
signals - and then a loop to go through each "zone" to logically determine the state (normal, alarm, bypass or tamper).  To make the
"zone status" indicator an easily scalable indicator I have the "zone" loop change the color of a boolean LED indicator.  Then I take a
picture of it and display an array of pix.
Question:  This works fine, good response - but would it pass?  Is there a better way? I attached the diagram...

I don't like the detour over an array of images and property nodes. Seems indirect and inefficient. Is that a requirement or your idea?
Also I assume that the FOR loop executes quickly, so you should probably do the timestamping once before the loop.
The "wait for FP activity is really "old school" and not very good. You typically get extra triggers, which is expensive since you write to the file every time. I would strongly suggest an event structure instead.
The small FOR loop can be replaced by "search array". Much cleaner!
It might be better and more efficient to open/create the file once before the loop, write using lowlevel functions during the loop, and close after the while loop has finished.

Suddenly I see the usual blue box with question mark inside mail messages instead of pix.
    That did not happen before.
It happened only on certain pages with Safari, like the google news feed which did not display pix.
However, this new mail problem is really disturbing.
I checked Little Snitch and port 80 is open.
    I checked java pref.
    I am at a loss.
    PLEASE HELP!

Suddenly I see the usual blue box with question mark inside mail messages instead of pix.
That indicates that your Mail preferences are setup to not display remote images in email messages. You should check Mail->Preferences->Viewing and make surre the box to 'Display remote images in HTML messages' is checked.
    I checked java pref.
Java has nothing to do with Mail, or displaying images in it or any browser.

  • Question Re Picture & Video Messaging (PIX Place)

Ok, so I have the LG Accolade (i.e., no micro SD card) on the Prepaid Core plan, and have been trying to access the original picture files I have taken at their maximum 1.3 MP resolution (1280 x 960 pixels).
In an earlier thread, it was suggested to me that I try uploading the photo(s) in question to Verizon's PIX Place (Picture & Video Messaging).  From my phone, I chose [Send] To Online Album (which cost the standard 25¢ MMS fee deducted from airtime), read & agreed with the online TOS, etc., and logged in.
I saw the photo icon in the "My Media" folder, but when I clicked the VIew Larger link, this was all I got (image below is reproduced here at original size as it displayed on the webpage).... What does, "The original uploaded image size and resolution are preserved in your account" mean? Where is this "online account," and how can I preview/download it to my PC?
I'd like to be able to display some of these photos in our (mid-sized) digital photo frame here at home (for starters).  Surely these tiny little (426 x 320) pixel images are not all the 1.3 MP camera phones are capable of producing??

    acraftylady wrote:
Why don't you just download them onto the computer then re-size them in a photo program?  You can use a free online resizer or this free batch resizer.  It will resize a whole folder and keep originals in tact.  As far as I know the zoom function in the IE browser is just that a zoom function and not a picture resizer.    Mary
If I were able to simply "download them onto [my] computer" (i.e. at their original size), I wouldn't be posting these questions, as that is precisely what I'd wished to do in the first place. But this is what has been at issue with this phone since the proverbial Day One.
As I explained before in another earlier thread, the USB cable that came with the phone does NOTHING. When you connect it to the PC, it won't even recharge the phone (which according to the user's manual it is supposed to do without fanfare), much less access the phone memory or transfer any data.  The Hardware Wizard comes up on Windows and it asks for a *Modem* driver, which: a) the modem is not what is needed here; and b) there is no compatible driver to be found.  Seems something was said somewhere else on these forums about switching the default from Modem to USB Mass Storage; but there is no external memory card and I cannot find anything resembling this in the phone menus.
The thing about resizing digital image files is, you can make them smaller, but not larger.  Well technically you can (depending on your image editing program); but the resolution in almost all cases will be *really crappy* and it defeats the purpose.  From what I see of PicResize.com, it doesn't do anything I can't do myself (offline) using the freeware image editor from Irfanview. In fact, if you'll notice from the screenshot I've posted below, all the prefigured options are for making the photo smaller (25%, 50% and 75% of original size).  When I chose Custom (to change Verizon's 426 x 320 "downsized" version back to the original 1280 x 960 res.) all that did was to double the filesize (in kilobytes) of the uploaded image.
What I'm thinking is that Verizon has in some way deliberately crippled these phones so that the customer cannot utilize the original 1.3 MP camera images at full resolution.  If it wasn't so, seems that a VZW representative would've already responded to one of these threads and cleared things up for us, if it were designed to be easy or intuitive.  But that's not what's happening.  Despite all the unnecessary hoops we've tried jumping through so far, nothing has worked. I could be mistaken about that -- I hope I am and it's an option or setting somewhere on the camera that I have missed -- though I personally doubt it.  Either way, I am posting these things so that others will know (hopefully in advance of purchase) what the LG VX5600 phone is capable of (on Verizon's prepay service) and what it is not.  No sense having a 1.3 MP camera if all you can get from it is a tiny image less than normal VGA resolution -- the more basic Samsung U350 Smooth is capable of that!   As a selling point for this phone, it is 100% moot.

  • Deleting Pix in iPhoto - Safety question

I have 5,000+ pix on my PC, which I copied over to my MAC and put into file categories. I am now importing them into iPhoto, without the "Copy photos" being checked in the Preferences Advanced tab. My question is, when I delete pictures (dupes, etc.) in iPhoto, am I deleting them off my MAC? Or will they be intact in my "pictures" folder after I empty the trash in iPhoto?
    Thanks.
    Hazel Hanford

    Hazel:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No. By using a reference library you are taking responsibility for the total management of the source files. Do not rename, edit or move them or their folders after importing. That will really mess up the library. There are a lot of downsides to using a "referenced" library. Do a search in this forum for "referenced" and see the posts regarding the downsides.
If you want to categorize photos within iPhoto using a "managed" library you can use the iPhoto folders and album like this. If at some time you decide to convert to a managed library you can use AliasHerder. Again, it's not a recommended method.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IE Spry 2.0 Menu centering/ CSS vs Table/ em vs pix questions

    Hi,
I realize this question may relate to other issues than strictly the Spry Widget Menu Bar. As some background, I am in the process of building a site to get rid of a bit of my record/cd collection. I am planning on using PayPal websites payments standard and a Paypal-shopping cart.  While I realize this may be time consuming (especially making buttons for every item), I really don’t want to pay a monthly fee for a shopping cart or spend a lot of time to figure out how to integrate my design with some free third party software cart such as Zen cart. (Of course if someone has some ideas, I would be glad to hear them).  But the main issue I needed some help with related to centering my Spry Menu Bar and questions about using tables as part of my layout.
    My test files is here:
    http://blueyondermusic.com/mywidget11.htm
In general, I had a few questions that I hope someone could shed some light on.
SPRY MENU BAR 2. 0 CENTERING ISSUES IN INETERNET EXPLORER
I have used Spry Menu Bar 2.0 widget for the main/bottom menu that goes to the various categories of records/cds.  I used pixels for font size and did a fixed size layout for the widget.  I think I have this working ok. However, I noticed it really isn’t centered when I view the page on IE 8 (more to the left).
Any thoughts on how to best fix this issue?
    USING TABLES FOR MAIN CONTENT?
For the listings of each item, it seemed that it would be the easiest to use tables for my content. I have a 3 column table with the left column for the picture of the cd cover, the right for the paypal button, price, and other info (in a nested table), and the middle (in a nested table) for info about each item with Title, Catalog #, condition info at the top of the table.  My thinking was that this would allow me to add items easy by just copying and pasting the middle table to new rows…  I could have 10 to 100 items on a particular page (or who knows maybe more).  I would also be copying these rows or tables and adding them to other pages where the item fit in multiple categories.
I couldn’t find anything on the web that made it look easy to do what I want to do with CSS rather than with HTML tables and have it look consistent across browsers.  Of course, I did my first websites with tables, so I am used to them but also recognize that folks try not to use them these days. I am using pixels for my font size as opposed to em (no experience using em). My questions are:
Are my assumptions correct that it is ok to use a table layout for this portion of the page?  If yes, any suggestions on controlling how it looks (I,e, should I not be using pixels for my font size?)?,
Is there an easy way in CSS to do the same thing and ensure consistency?
These questions above are really the most important.  I don’t want to start adding all these items to find that there was a better, easier way to do this.
While I am not necessarily designing for mobile browsers, is there something easy to do to make it look consistent on mobile browsers?  I notice the page on my iphone the text is taller than the album cover.  I assume that it I set the row to a fixed height, it still would show the text the same on the browser and break up the table possibly.
    Thanks!

  • Non editable pix question

I have placed a series of photos in a collage in photoshop. I've never had this problem before but none of the pix are editable. It won't let me use the eraser on them. What have I done wrong?

No. I was asking if your image was 32 bit, and it's not.
I'm pretty confident your layers are smart objects (you can tell by the little mini-document icon in the bottom right of the layer icon, in the layers panel). You cannot erase smart objects. You either need to rasterize them and then erase them, or create a layer mask fro them and paint on that to erase them.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/11.0/WSCCBCA4AB-7821-4986-BC03-4D1045EF2A57a.html
If you have type layers (with the "T" icon in the layers panel) in the doc, these also cannot be erased, and you'll have to do the same to them, either rasterize then erase, or create a mask and paint black on it to "erase" the layer.

  • Pix OSPF load balancing question

I have a pix 515e with two default routes, learned via OSPF from two routers on the "outside" interface.
Currently router#2 is being preferred way much more than router#1. There are many thousands of destinations for the traffic. These two routers are further doing NAT to nat rfc1918 ip's to the internet (the pix is NOT doing nat)
Can someone please let me know how the PIX does load balancing? is it by IP address destination? is it something else?
    thanks,
    Joe

    Per TAC:
"the PIX will do per-destination Load Balancing instead of per packet
load balancing. The algorithm will look at the source and destination
addresses. It does not do 1:1 load balancing. Given enough different
source and destination addresses, the packets will more or less reach a
50/50 spit between the two next-hops. However, in real world testing
with the same source and destination addresses, it may not reach an even
    load balancing."

  • 5122 External Clock Questions

I am working on a project that requires the ext. clock (100Ms/s on a
    5122) and a signal hand-off.  Signal 1 is 32MHz, and Signal 2 is
32MHz +- 100,000Hz.  If I am feeding in Signal 1, what is the
minimum and maximum times I have to kill signal 1 and input Signal 2 so
that the card doesn't crash.  In other words, the jitter
parameters on the PXI 5122 clock.  I cannot find this information
anywhere.  If I had to guess, the minimum time would be 1/105MHz =
    9.5ns and the max would be 1/30MHz = 33.3ns.  The 30MHz and 105MHz
comes from the PXI 5122 data sheet.
Also, if the hand-off were made smoothly withing the jitter
specification times, would the clock crash due to the change in
    frequency between the 2 signals?
    Thank you for your time,
    Austin McElroy

*I have posted the answer on all 3 of the forums that you queried, but please continue the thread here, in the appropriate section:*
    Good morning Austin,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments with your issue, we'll try our best to solve it for you as quickly and efficiently as possible.
I'm going to have to contact R&D about this specification.  There are some that might get us close, such as the fact that the PLL Reference Frequency has to be accurate to +/-50 ppm (page 14 of (http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/5D8BAB258130779686256FA800691AAA)) and that the sample clock delay range is 1 sample clock period (Page 13), that I could postulate on, but I'd rather get the definitive answer.
One point of helpful clarification would be whether you're using the external clock for the reference clock or sample-clock timebase.
I will let you know as soon as I hear anything from R&D.
    Sincerely,

  • Why won't Verizon respond to questions about Pix Flix?  It has been weeks since they paid any attention to us basic people.  Guess they want us to go away so they can have more time to play with their "smart phones."

Several people have managed to get to the "community" to ask about Pix Flix. It has been weeks since Verizon responded to anyone.
The suggestion posted to the first inquiry under "Pix Flix" has not worked for several other folks.
This is not customer service.  The website offers limited opportunities for contact and it is, of course, out of my way to go to the most local Verizon office.
    Steve M

So the message about having pictures was not because my friend was trying to send me something?  “You’ve got a PIX or FLIX message!  To see it, visit www. “ telling me to go to an accessible computer wasn’t about me?  We the many complainers are getting these messages which don’t look like general messages.  At any rate, the instructions don’t work and HELP doesn’t provide me a result.
