Pixel Bender for Photoshop CS4 -- in August 2010 ?????
How could I have missed it!
Just found out about Pixel Bender today via an email from Wacom.
Can only find the CS5 version available for download on the Adobe Labs site. Will the CS5 version work with PSCS4? If not, is there someway for me to download the CS4 version?
I'm still saving my pennies for a CS5 upgrade. Hope I don't have to wait until then to explore Pixel Bender.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Trouble installing Pixel Bender in Photoshop CS4
I have downloaded
pbplugin_ps32b_111708.mxp
pixelbender_p7_mac_081809.dmg
MandelbulbQuick.pbk
pixelbender_toolkit_2.5.dmg
I have ran what I think are the installers for them. They go through the motions of installation but so far I have no indication that they have installed in Photoshop. I have looked under the filters but do not see them. Where should I look or what could I have done wrong?
I am running PS CS4, on an iMac, running 10.6 on and intel duocore 2 with 4 gigs of ram.Look here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/pixelbender/

Photoshop CS4 Extended, issues with resolution and font sizes on Mac
I have Photoshop CS4 Extended, which worked fine on my old 15 inch Macbook Pro, I think it was 2011 and had high definition display.
I now have a new 15 inch 'late 2013' Macbook Pro with retina display (2880 x 1800), and OS 10.9.4
I have 2 problems:
1) Using photoshop now, the resolution is a lot worse than with my old computer, even though my screen is higher resolution.
For example, the images themselves are worse resolution on my display, far less crisp and more pixelated than any of my other programs. And even the windows such as 'save as...' screens are terribly pixelated also. Is there a way to fix this?
2) When using the type tool, I cannot find how to change the size of the font. There used to be numbers which I could change, and also select the font type, both on the top menu bar always visible. Now there is not anymore. What there is there at the top, is what looks to be a bar on top of another bar. The top layer bar is on the left and reaches about one third of the way across the top, and I can drag it by its corner so it can extend more, but not less. It looks like there are things behind it which I cannot see, because it is over the top of them. Perhaps the text size and font options are stuck behind that. What can I do?
Many thanks!
JustinHi JJMack, you said "Seems like you want a low resolution display hook and external display to it." I do not know what that means. I did a google search for "low resolution display hook" and it came up with zero results. Also I do not have an external display, only my laptop.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this issue? I would greatly appreciate any solution.
Thank you! -
Photoshop CS4 Extended Graphics Error
Hello Everyone
I just recently upgraded to CS4 Master Collection in hopes of using it with my web design job I was hired for. Whenever I go into Photoshop CS4 Extended and I try to "Free Transform" something (an image, a shape, etc) and either the canvas goes black and doesn't respond for awhile, or it has these purple shapes that show up on a black background and they are pixelated. I do apologize if I am not describing this very well. You can see what I am talking about here on this link where I took a screenshot and posted it.

The graphics hardware in my iMac are as follows:
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT:
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Type: Display
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0391
Revision ID: 0x00a1
ROM Revision: 3022
Displays:
iMac:
Resolution: 1920 x 1200
Depth: 32-bit Color
Core Image: Hardware Accelerated
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Quartz Extreme: Supported
Built-In: Yes
I never have nor have I ever had this issue in Photoshop CS3. I look forward to everyones help and responses to this matter. Thanks in advance!
Josh Lindseythis fixed the program error for me, at least for the time being. i do use the opengl drawing thing quite a bit though, i hope they fix this. i also hope its not my machine (1 year old macbook pro). i also speeded things up on my machine by having a separate scratch disk that i plug in (a firewire 800 drive) which i thought was the program error problem at first. some of the files that were not able to open i was able to initially open by duplicating them and then opening them. but not today--i haven't been able to open anything until i turned off the opengl drawing preference. good luck whoever you are! i know how frustrating this is--believe me, i almost slammed my computer on the ground today when it wouldn't open my files!
note that overall the opengl feature, i feel, is pretty rad though--i love being able to draw and rotate the entire canvas to match the orientation of my drawing capabilities! -
I'm trying to process RAW images from my new SanDisk Ultra memory card and unable to do so. I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended, is this the right one or do I need to update?
…and you absolutely have to specify the camera model that generated those raw image files.

Photoshop CS4 Extended - cannot paint on .kmz files in 3D
Hello, ist there anybody who can help me with a special problem ? I try to generate my own 3 D Object in Sketchup but in Photoshop CS4 Extended ein cannot paint on this, even i can with 3D objects out of the Photoshop Library.
Thanks a lot,
alphaplanet2000Hi,
Sorry for the delay on the attachment. It looks like it cleared 'customs' and is no longer in the queue.
I used SketchUp 7 (7.0.10248) (not Pro), so you may want to update, but I did find some useful things.
This was just using a rectangle pulled up into a cubic geometry. If you use a solid color for each face, the export creates a unique map for each face. If you leave the geometry face styles undefined, the export will create UV mapping that overlaps. And if you use the tiling textures, you get really tiny targets which you can't paint at all (like what you saw).
To see the UV mapping in Ps, open a diffuse map and then go to 3D> Create UV Overlay> Wireframe. This will create a new layer and draw in the UV triangle mapping. For painting you want to see non-overlapping triangles, that are fairly equal in area, and openness (think triangulated squares). Tight angles, and small area makes for hard targets to project in clean pixels.
Hopefully this makes sense and helps.
regards,

What about Pixel Bender in Photoshop CS5?
I didn`t see anything in the CS5 launch event.
I would love to see new features like:
some useful filters
at least some tools like hand tool etc. (not everyone knows shortcuts)
no more size limit at 4096x4096px
navigation like in Photoshop (flick-panning, scrubby zoom etc.)
onscreen tools like in PS
So what`s the deal with PB and PS CS5?Just installed the new PB version.
I can only speek for Pixel Bender in Photoshop, but I`m wondering what the PB team has been doing since the PB version that shipped with CS4.
It`s the same useless plugin as before. It`s fast (as it was before), but that`s it. Still no useful filters, still a file size limit, that cannot even open a pic from an entry level DSLR, no colormanagement, no tools (not even a rightclick menu for zoom levels) etc., etc.
After 1,5 years extremely disappointing!
Will we ever see a PB version that`s really worth installing for Photoshop? -

I have to install Photoshop CS4 extended on a new computer from a disk because my old computer had a hard drive crash. There is no serial number on the back of the case. How can I obtain a usable serial number?
Find your serial number quickly
You can activate software without following up and registering it... at least that was the case in the past. The serial number is normally located on the disc case or a box inside the main box. If you did not purchase the disc from Adobe then it is possible you would have dealt with a redemption code, in which case it would have been up to you to keep a record of the serial number, especially if you did not follow up and register the software. -
Hello,
I have been trying to get Adobe's help for over a month now. I've been on the phone twice to them, opened up three seperate cases and still arrived at no solution. I was bought Photoshop CS4 Extended awhile ago and use it for my studies (I'm an art student). Two months ago my harddrive on my computer failed and I had to have a new laptop. I went to reinstall Photoshop and "Licensing for this product has expired" comes up. I've uninstalled, inreinstalled many times and used Microsoft Fix It Programme for uninstalling to make sure all the files are gone.
Surfing the forums I learned that there should be a folder with back up and Adobe PCD but I don't have that folder at all. The serial number I use is my original serial number that I know works and adobe have even said it's a technical error. What do I do? College starts again in two weeks and I don't have the programme I use for it!Try the License Repair Tool Adobe - Adobe Licensing Repair Tool
Other suggestions if this doesn't work: Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Windows
Also if you must uninstall, use the Adobe CS Cleaner tool, not the Microsoft one. Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 -
About four years ago, I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended while I was in undergrad. I downloaded it to my Mac. Since then, I've purchased a brand new iMac. Can I use this same software? I know it's been four years so the software is very updated, AND my new iMac does NOT have a cd drive. This may all be in vain. I'm just clueless! Thanks!
Emalexander89 you are welcome to install Photoshop CS4 on your new Mac. You can download a fresh copy of the installation files at Download CS6 products.

How do you make a 3d octagon in photoshop cs4 extended?
How do you make a 3d octagon in photoshop cs4 extended that you can map artwork to? I've been searched online for a solution that doesn't involve using a 3D program but can't find anything. Can't you extrude a shape like in Illustrator, or exporta true 3D shape from Illustrator that will work? I'd use Illustrator but the mapping thing is finicky, and doesn't alow wrapping images around angles. (now someones going to say: "Don't mention any other programs in a PHotoshop forum!" Yeah yeah, there should be a forum then about using different Adobe programs together.) End of rant, any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks,
MikeThanks for your prompt response!
Suggested Bridge Update
It turns out that I got a message that this update had already been installed, which led me to more carefully look at the Bridge window and (finally) see that the Output module had a Quality dropdown: Full, 300 ppi, 150 ppi, 96 ppi and 72 ppi. Thanks! I decided to compare the CS4/Bridge results to those I got in CS2 with its convenient File/Automate/PDF Presentation/Multi-Page Document routine that I like.
My project was an 8-page PDF made from scanned pages of handwritten notes into which some fairly small type had been insert using the Photoshop CS2 Type tool. In Photoshop CS2, I had settled on "medium quality" JPEG compression as giving a "reasonable" file size (about 7 MB) and "very good/excellent" image quality. I experimented with making the PDF in Bridge, using all five Quality levels. See table below. The Bridge "good minus" file was about the same size as the file produced in CS2, which I judged to be "very good/excellent" and slightly better visually than the 300-ppi, 23.5-MB Bridge file.
Bridge Quality:
Full
300 ppi
150 ppi
96 ppi
72 ppi
File Size:
25.2 MB
23.5 MB
7.6 MB
3.2 MB
2.1 MB
Subjective Quality:
Very good
Very good
Good minus
Poor
Useless
I appreciate that you may not be all that interested in these observations, but it seems to me that Adobe has done us no favors in the multi-page PDF department in going from CS2 to CS4!
Install the Old Contact Sheet/Picture Package Plug-Ins
I had already done this some time ago, in order to get in CS4 the File/Automate/Contact Sheet II feature I liked in CS2. It does not appear to me that this plug-in has anything to do with make multi-page PDF's. Perhaps I'm missing something.
Again, thanks for your response! -
Photoshop CS4 Extended and Lion 10.7.4
Does Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended work on Lion 10.7.4? when I get the "Licensing for this product has stopped working" and I advance to where I'm to click on the License RecoveryLauncher.app it does not appear. A file called License Recovery Launcher does appear with the circle with the line through it.
Since this post is 4 months old, but for some reason only appeared today, assume problem solved.
