Pixel Lines!?

Hello all.
Not been on these forums for some time, nothing really gone wrong, until now!
My current system, PM Dual 1.8Ghz 04' model has done the job for me time and time again, however, receently for no apparent reason, Im getting kinda 'horizontal pixel black' lines going down the left side of my Formac 19 Display?! If you were to divide my display up into quaters, the lines would only appear when I drag a folder or something with a white background such as a design app into the far left hand side.
I did used to used dual formacs so I dont know if this has anything to do with the problem however, I have ran a AHT and it found that nothing was wrong, not even Video RAM, which it passed as usual.
I just posting to see if its my video card or most hopefully the display which is still under warrenty. Wondering if anyone out there knows of similiar problems!?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Jamesy

I have the same problem. It started a month or so ago same as yours and has not gone away yet so I think its here to stay.
I noticed at first if I pushed on the screen where the line was at it would break the line up. Mine also has a line all the way across the screen about a quarter way down the screen right in a bad spot to view vidio. I was thinking of contacting that repair site that i saw someone posted, it says they repair the lcd screen for $65. thinking of calling them.
here is the address if anyone else wants to check it out.

My 06' Macbook Pro crashed with vertical, green pixelated lines and now will not advance past the turn-on screen with the apple filled with green lines as well. Then, it says to hold down the power button to restart. I have tried several times to get it past this point but tnothing helped.
I have an appointment at the Apple store today, but was wondering : will all of the information and files on my desktop be lost? Or is this a logic board problem?
Any help is much MUCH appricated.

I'm not sure, if you're out of warrenty it'll cost quite a bit for the replacement of the logic board replacement...unless you have apple care. you could ask apple to try and recover your hard drive but i'm not sure.

  • I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green.

I updated my iMac to 10.7.3 and about an hour later the screen began to flicker with a gray line on the upper side, and it also flicker green and red small pixel lines all over the screen, mainly green. The computer froze with these pixels, so I shut it off and restarted it, and there were this green lines everywere. So I turned it off, and the next day I turned it on and it began to work just fine, but suddenly the same thing happened again, and when I restart the computer again there are these green and some red pixels everywere.
I've read 10.7.3 is giving people many problems, but I never saw that it gave one like this. How can I fix this, or what will Apple do to fix this problem they caused me with their update.
    Thanks

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

  • Green pixel lines after installing 10.4.6

I started getting green pixel lines on my screen following installation. They appear when windows open and remain after windows are closed. They also appear around the desktop icons, but mostly on the left side and bottom of the icon.
Any thoughts on how to eliminate this problem?
I have run permissions repair several times.

    jcaz,
Find the com.apple.finder.plist, and the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file in your ~Library/Preferences Folder. Drag these plist files to your Desktop, log out/in or restart.
If unsuccessful, can you duplicate this behavior if you create a new user?
Reinstalling the Mac OS X 10.4.6 Combo for PPC is an option if the behavior is observed in the new user account.

  • Moving 2 pixel lines at top of of picture?

I have exported a high quality 2-pass 4:3 m2v from FCP 5.1.4 Looks fine in Quicktime. when i build the project in DVDSP 4 it looks good in simulator but when viewed in DVD player there are moving 2 pixel lines at the top of the picture - and ONLY on the shots from one of the cameras. SO -looks like DVDSP is the culprit. How do I eliminate these lines?
    thanks!

Yes, you'll see that sometimes when you view DVDs on computer. Of course, on television that is way out of safe action area. This is why when compressing things for the web, people always trim the top by 2px or whatever.

  • Vertical Pink pixel line 17-inch, Early 2011 MacbookPro

For the past week my MBP has been acting up. When I irk on 2-3 programs simultaenously ,the screen gets distorted and I am forced to press and hold the power button to reset.
Today there is a permanent pink pixel line on my display.
Is there any workaround solution or anyway to switch off the AMD graphics card ? I believe thats the culprit.

I see an impressive collection of LaunchAgents, Launch Daemons, Internet Plugins and drivers for who knows what. At this point I would like to suggest a completely clean install of your system (after making a complete backup of course).
At the very least uninstall the Kaspersky software completely, and the same with what remains of the terrible CleanMyMac software.

  • Pixel line across screen

My laptop sudden has a pixel line running fully across the screen from the left of the screen to the right. I have rebooted, updated drivers, used pixel repair software and tried to rub the pixels clear. which makes me believe its possibly a hardware issue. Has anyone else con across this problem or know what could be wrong?

Contact HP in your region. It may be hardware display issue.

  • Pixelated Line Across iMac screen, occasional...

My iMac is 4.5 years old and works great except for a pesky horizontal pixelated line across the screen. I have seen it towards to the top, and now lately, it's moved instead toward the bottom of the screen.  It will usually 'attach' itself to a particular open window, not necessarily to my Desktop. It happens with a Browser windown, or an email, or any application, really.
Is this a sign of anything other than age of the machine? Does this indicate trouble I don't realize?
I have had this issue for months. It's occasional and more of an annoyance than anything disruptive to me.

These appear on all windows I open.  I took a screen shot using grab and the very definite gray line doesn't appear.
Excellent work, the Screen Grab grabs it from the Video card, so the prlem is after/outside of that.
Could be the Internal Video cable, or the LCD itself.

  • Iphone 4 screen/display - 1 pixel line problem

    Hi,
I have a cca. 1 month old iPhone 4 from New Zealand Apple Store.
There is a cca 1 pixel bright line across the screen/display and a smaller one next to it. These seem like dead pixel lines.
Sometimes it is hard to see the lines, sometimes are very bright - I think it depends on the color of the background.
I realized that problem aproximately 4-5 days after I received the new iPhone. .
My problem is, that few days after I got my new iPhone I traveled to Europe. Now I am in Hungary and I will go back to NZ in October.
I could not find any on-line contact for NZ Apple... finally I went to Hungarian Apple Service to ask them about my problem, but they said they cannot help.
I have Apple Care Protection plan as well. Can I get a replacement, or ... ?
I do not know what to do, where to go, who can help me...
Can somebody tell me who do I need to contact?
    Thanks
    Monika

Exactlly which model iMac do you have?
see > How to identify iMac models
Unfortunately that is not all that uncommon for the Early Intel iMac's given there age and the fact that the air intakes are probably choked with dust. Then add the extra heat caused by running a more intense OS X which is causing it to run a little warmer than normal and putting extra stress on the graphic and display components.
My 6½ year old 17" Early 2006 Core Duo w/2GB of RAM is also running 10.6.8 and is also starting to get a single line that (knock on wood) goes away after a few minutes, while many others started getting permanent ones after 2 or 3 years. One thing that I think has helped, is that about every 3 or 4 months I shutdown and vigorously vacuum out the bottom grill work and small vent under the stand to keep it running cool.
On that note: unfortunately I can only suggest that you clean your intake vents and hope that no permanent or irreversible damage has been done.

  • MBP screen keeps freezing and these pixelated lines appear...

    Hi,
For the most part, I've been a happy MAC user but I have been experiencing some problems.  For example, if I moved the mouse to close a program or something similar, the screen would freeze and these pixelated lines of black and white would appear, sometimes flashing. These lines would either cover a third or all of the screen.  When I restarted, the lines would appear in blue right after the apple icon appears.  This has been happening infrequently for the past day or so.
From browsing the internet, I've come across the GeForce 8600M GT GPU issue.  I've checked and I do have this component.  From Apple's article, my problem is not so much with the video, although it is really slow and intermittent at best but with the display screen (I think that's the proper term). I ran a general hardware test and all seems to be okay.
Would my problem(s) fall under this recall?  Would I be eligible to get a (free) replacement?  Further, is there a hardware test I could specifically run to test this?  This is driving me crazy!  What do you think?
    Many thanks!

I reinstalled and everything seems to be working fine.

  • Pixelated Line Art in Photo Gallery

    Hi
I am designing a photo gallery that externally loads jpegs
via XML. I have an actionscript that allows the jpegs to randomly
rotate at an angle as they load onto the stage. The jpegs contain
mostly logos that are line art. It works great but the images are
pixelated when they are at an angle since they are logos/line art.
I can't seem to find a solution to solve this pixelation problem. I
tried loading gif files instead but for some reason gifs does not
    load correctly.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hi dzedward
Thanks for your reply. I attempted to create an
emptyMovieClip and applied cacheAsBitmap in context of the
actionScipt that already exist in the file. I tried to follow the
examples in the Flash 8 documentation but failed. The photo gallery
I am editing from can be downloaded here:

  • Dark Pixel Line In Captured Image

    Hello,
I am trying to use a high speed machine vision camera (AVT guppy PRO F503C) to analyze touch screen LCD user interface modules for pixel defects, foreign particles, scratches, etc... However, this process is hampered by a dark line of pixels which tracks down the screen continously during image acquistion (both grab and continous grab). I have had a little success adjusting the camera shutter value to minimize the visibility of this line, however, this has proved to be relatively inconsistent as the shutter value seems to differ from unit to unit. I am wondering if anyone has ever run into this issue and if there is any corrective action to eliminate or minimize the effects of this line (lighting, camera settings, etc..). Here is an image:

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Here is a workaround.  No charge.  This time
I'm assuming the line always shows up in a different position vertically in the image.  If this is not the case, you may need to change the framerate so that the line moves around.  The VI I have attachec take in images from your camera until the "# of Images to Consider" value is met.  While it is collecting the images, it builds a sigle array of the max pixel values that came before.  The resulting image will not have the line.  You will need to play with the # value to figure out what works for your application.

  • Pixelated lines in illustration

    Hi,
I've made a technical drawing in Adobe Illustrator. I've used the PDF-format. Below I've inserted a screenshot of the PDF. The lines of the left hand & hammer are looking pixelated when I see the PDF on screen in Adobe Acrobat. When printed the lines are sharp. I want them to be sharp on screen also. What can I do?
    Thx,
    ief

    Buy a better screen?
Your view on the screen is limited (per definition) by its resolution. Computer programs try to fool the eye into seeing sharp lines by heavily blurring them with the surrounding pixels ("anti-aliasing"), and the idea is you shouldn't be seeing individual pixels.
Different software have different ways of drawing vector images, though, and different antialiasing algorithms -- there is not a "best" solution.
Apart from that, it's also possible your Acrobat settings are not optimal. Look in your preferences for a setting called "Smooth line art", and experiment with that to get the best results (for your screen only -- it's a user preference).

  • I have pixel lines running down the middle of my moniter.  Is there a way to fix this?

I have lines running dow the middle of my monitor when I boot up.  It seems as though it takes time for the pixels to "warm up" because it eventually goes away, but is there anything that I can do to fix this besides purchase a whole new computer?

    Is this a G5 iMac?

  • Odd vertical pixel lines not displaying

    Hello everyone,
Today I started having some problems with my little more than a year old MacBook Pro. Take a look at these pictures to know what I'm talking about:
    http://gaips.inesc-id.pt/~graimundo/MacBookScreen.JPG (6 MB)
    http://gaips.inesc-id.pt/~graimundo/MacBookScreen_CloseUP.JPG (8 MB)
It seems as if suddenly all the pixels of the odd vertical lines of the screen went dead. Also on one reboot instead of black (not on) pixels I got Cyan lines (didn't take pictures tho:( ).
I searched the forums and the web for anyone with a similar problem but I didn't have any luck I even tried proposed solutions for other display problems such as reseting PRAM, going to sleep and back, turning the screen off and on, etc but no luck.
I plan on doing a hardware test but unfortunately I am away from home until 10 of May so I don't have the installation CD handy.
Anyone has any idea what might cause such an issue? Maybe a faulty connection from the board to the screen? I don't think it's a graphics card hardware issue since I can take screenshots with no problems and the computer is working perfectly otherwise.
Any insights/suggestions will be greatly apprecitated.
    Best regards,
    Chewbacca

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply I searched the apple defects site but didn't come across anything that could help me.
Anyway I have an update... Today as I started the hardware test the screen just turned ok. It had strips when I turned it on but once i began the test the screen simply got fixed :P I just wonder if it will stay that way or if it will return to its striped status. I'll keep the forums updated.
    Cheers
