Pixelated clip after importing to FCPX

Hi there,
Quick question: why when I import a clip to Final Cut Pro X into a project it gets all pixelated?
I'm editing a video and I had to add a clip shot on another camera, and even though it looks fine on Quicktime, when I import it to FCPX it looks like this:
Looking around I noticed that the clip was shot on a 25fps, while the rest of them are on 24. Do you think this may be the problem?
If yes, is there any way to fix it?
Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

Hi Tom,
Do you mean this?
Otherwise
Let me know if these are what you were looking for...
Thank you

I have mov files from my Panasonic GH3 on my hard drive. After importing them to FCPX footage looks horrible, it's falling apart.  If I open it in quicktime is fine. What am I doing wrong?

What uis this image supposed to show? How are you importing media into the application? What are the media specs? Open in the QT player and report on the movie inspector.

  • Jumbled clips after importing finished product from DV Camera

I'm pretty new to imovie '08 - My problem is that I have a finished product I had copied back onto a DV tape a few years ago and now when I try to re-import it into iMovie '08 it brings it back in as clips - and worse the clips are reorganized (maybe by date?). If it brought it back in order that would not be a big deal, I at least could just select all the clips in order. But it had a sound track that was underlying a number of the clips.
I would like to know a way to either: Import the final project into iMovie 08 without it automatically cutting it into clips, or import the clips in order.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Jason,
If have exactly the same problem. It seems that all transitions are taken out of the original DV footage and shows up as a small thumbnail (1 - 3 sec). This makes it hardly impossible to restore the footage to its original sequence. Did you find a workaround to import an entire DV tape as one clip in imovie 08?

  • Flicker and pixelized video after importing from motion

Hello, I captured a clip from HDV tape via Firewire using log and capture in FCP, then exported the clip to Motion where I applied filiters. I made a movie from Motion and imported it back in FCP. The movie required rendering to play and it now has a flicker and is grossly pixelized. Anyone know what could be causing this?

what settings did you use in motion? what settings are you using in fcp? my guess is they don't match.

The render requirement is not surprising - all motion clips require rendering. How are you viewing your clip? You can't judge by what you see in the canvas...

  • Shorten clip before import to fcpx

Looking for the best way to shorten a 20gb gopro file before I import to an event in fcpx and I am stuck with the whole 20gb in my fcpx structure.
Any ideas that I am missing? Many thanks!

Mark, Here's an addendum to my earlier post:
SETTING MULTIPLE RANGES IN THE SAME CLIP
To set multiple ranges in the same clip – this is especially useful when importing multiple portions of the same source clip – press Command while dragging to select a range within a clip.

  • All clips missing after import from camcorder!

All clips are missing after import from camcorder - Canon ZR20.  For some tapes all clips are there, for others there are none.  All the files are there in the finder, but I don't know how to have them show up in Final Cut Pro X.
    Any suggestions?

Ok - this is frustrating.  I have been importing my old miniDV tapes again into FCPX as I wasn't able to transfer all of these projects from iMovie - don't get me started...  After importing about 7 of the tapes the first 3 came in fine, but the last 4 didn't have any clips as I said in my original posting.  Now after restarting FCPX a couple of times all of a sudden the clips are all coming in!  Strange!  Guess I'm OK now.

  • Clips in wrong order after importing

    Hello,
I have a digital Sony camcorder HDR-SR7E. I had a 7 day trip and filmed a lot. When i was importing it to imovie all seemed fine but after importing it all the clips were in the wrong order. And i belive there is no way of sorting the clips or is there?
I found something called pane reliever for imovie but the download link is not working. Or maybe someone else has any experience with this kind of a problem.
Thank you very much for any replies,
    Madis

And i belive there is no way of sorting the clips or is there?
Not from within iMovie '08. You can however, download and open a utility called "A Better Finder Attributes", close iMovie '08, open the problem events folder, drag and drop your imported clips to the utility, change the "creation" dates and/or times, and then re-open iMovie '08. If all went well, your "Event" clips will be re-ordered during the initialization "scan" according to their creation dates/times within the event.
I found something called pane reliever for imovie but the download link is not working.
This utility appears to have been written originally for OS 8 and 9 and carried over to OS 10.1 thru 10.3 but I don't see any reference to OS 10.4, OS 10.5, or use with iMovie '08. I would stick with simply changing the Finder attributes for the files.

  • Imported Illustrator files pixelated, even after continuous rasterization.

    Hey there,
I'm trying to import files(Text converted to objects) from illustrator to after effects, and they're showing up pixelated, even after I've selected continuous rasterization. Google is no help, sadly, and any help I could get regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    PAR of your comp?
Your comp window should look like this:
The PAR Correction turned on is a likely culprit.
The other option you can take a look at is in the File Interpolation rules. There you can set antialiasing to Best for EPS options. You'll find it under the more options in the Footage Interpolation popup.
The other thing that may give you problems is OPEN GL Rendering. Try turning OPEN GL off in the Comp window's Fast Previews options or in the Preferences.
This is how the Comp Window should look at 100%:

  • How do you make one long clip camera import FCPX

Does anyone out there know how to make one long clip from a DV camera import in FCPX???  Why the designers thought it was a good idea to chop the clips up during import is beyond me...

You're expecting one continuous take to import as one single clip, right?
From my experience with DV-format cameras like the Canon HV20, it's not unusual for there to be enough of a discontinuity (control track??) to create two or more successive clips when importing, dropping a small number of frames between clips. This could be caused by dirty heads or a tape that has been used more than it should.
A string of separate takes should import as separate clips, I believe.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why are my AVCHD clips recorded in 60i being converted to 29.97i after import?

Hello, after importing footage that was recorded in 60i on an AVCHD still camera, the clips are converted to 29.97i.
How do I maintain their original format during import?
    Thanks.

It is a misunderstanding, your video has not been converted.

  • .mp4 clips blip every few seconds after importing

I have some .mp4 clips that play correctly when I use Quicktime to open them directly but after I import them, they play back in a jumpy manner--blipping at regular intervals.
--I've tried converting to .mov and .dv, but they still blip when I import them to iMovie.
--I've tried importing to iMovie 9 with the same results.
--In this post, I was going to share a link to one of these clips via iWeb, but there, it played smoothly, without the blips.
    Thank you for any assistance.

Yes!  I imported the entire BPAV in a file on my scratch drive under the specific project folder.  From there I am using the media browser in CS4 to either preview the clip or import it into the project.  The audio drops out whether it is previewed or imported.  And as I have said, this behavior is not consistant.  I have yet to find a repeatable cure.
Also as I have said if I import the offending clip, from the same folder, into Soundbooth using Bridge the waveform is fine.  If I import the same clip into Soundbooth from the Premiere timeline the waveform goes flat where the audio stopped in Premiere.
    Thanks for the quick replies.
I am readingthe article that was suggested soon.

  • Clips goes over red color after importing movies clips

Clips goes overdosed by red color after importing movies clips

I guess it doesn't look like that in the QuickTime player. 640x480? That's a computer form of NTSC yet you're using a PAL frame rate. That's very weird. What's the codec?
You might also check the color space your display is set to, though the clip below it in the browser doesn't show the problem.
