Pixelated Graphics - Powerpoint to PDF

I am exporting a PDF from Powerpoint 2003 to PDF. The problem is that the color images (logo) are quite pixelated.
Depending on the Acrobat zoom level, it can look quite good, but can also look very bad. So is this just a rendering issue on the acrobat side (unable to scale images well)? I have tried a lot of things to get it to look good, but nothing seems to work.

If you saved to PDF using the WORD addon from MicroSoft, there is nothing that Acrobat can do to improve things. As far as the screen, be sure you have smoothing turned on for the display. The default is to have smoothing turned off.
If you go from WORD or PPT using Acrobat (either by printing to the Adobe PDF printer or PDF Maker), you can improve the graphic resolution with either the press or print job settings, but the size will then be a potential issue.

  • Export a PDF and convert the vector-graphics to pixel-graphics

    Hey,
    i want to export a PDF out of indesign CS3 and convert all vector-graphics to pixel-graphics.
    Is there any solution, maybe a plugin, to do this?
    Thanks!!!!

    You could apply a transparency effect to your vector objects that doesn't effect their appearance and make a flattener preset which forces everything to rasters—then export a flattened PDF using that preset. Why do need rasters?

    Just converted a PDF document to Word, none of the graphics from the PDF file show up in the Word document?
    What do I need to do to bring the graphics and exhibits from the PDF file to the Word file?

    Hi jackp52432917,
    How was that PDF file created? Please see  Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community
    It could be that the PDF file you're converting was created using a third-party application, and it doesn't contain all the information necessary to ensure a clean conversion. Have you had similar troubles converting other PDF files?

  • Dark outline of pixels around images in PDF

    When saving a pdf from Illustrator,  close cropped PSD images have a dark edge of pixels in the final PDF. It looks like a black outline when viewed in Acrobat. I have since found if I flatten the transparency before saving as a PDF , it displays fine. Why is the PDF having problems with Illustrator’s use of transparency?

    When you export your PDF in Adobe Illustrator then change these settings:
    Adobe PDF Preset to High Quality Print
    Standard to PDF /X-1a:2001
    Now export your PDF, you will see that your problem is fixed, no need to say thanks to me.
    Same problem show in Adobe InDesign too, here is video tutorial showing how can your export your pdf in InDesign:

  • Pixel-by-pixel graphics

    I'm working on a bioinformatics project that will use java. My data will be represented pixel-by-pixel, where the color of that pixel will represent of three variables in the dataset. The x and y dimensions are used for two other variables.
    I've been looking through the Java 2D API and tutorials, and there doesn't seem to be a tutorial on pixel-by-pixel specification. Everything seems to be discussing shapes and lines instead.
    In the end, I want a JFrame to pop up, draw the data to the screen, save the graph as a lossless, 8-color picture file, and terminate. Eventually, I hope to have thousands of these files, and I want to animate a change in the data over thousands of generations.
    But first things first... how do I deal with pixel-by-pixel graphics generation?

    g.setRGB(int x, int y, int rgb) where g is the graphics context of a BufferedImage, for example
    buf = new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Graphics g = buf.getGraphics();
    g.setRGB(x, y, rgb);
    //or//
    g.setRGB(x, y, new Color(r, g, b).getRGB());
    have fun!

  • Cannot convert Powerpoint to PDF in greyscale because there is no adobe option on the printing dropdown screen

    How can I convert Powerpoint to PDF in greyscale - there is no adobe option on the printing dropdown screen?

    Creating PDF from PowerPoint by printing to AdobePDF produces lousy PDF. All transparency is lost. Use the “Save as Adobe PDF” feature installed by Acrobat as a plug-in into Microsoft Office applications.
    Once you have the PDF file created, within Acrobat you can use the Convert Colors tool under Print Production to convert to grayscale.

  • Pixel graphic after sleep mode

    by the way if you are interested a background check about mac service care where i life:
    to start with - i life in beijing - china, and have unfortunately not made the good service experiences my friends from oversees report me and i can read in the community here and there. apple seems really to value their clients out of the region i deal with.
    we buy at the apple flagship store in sanlitun (nice architecture - nice products but differnt service policy than elswhere in the world - that is my impression at least) all our office equipment the last 3-4 years (macbook air (battery inflated after just 3 years), mac bookpros 2*15"&17" (harddisc failure after ~5month no replacement but only repair with waiting time of ~2 weeks+), imacs 24.5" (tons of death pixels from on day one and getting worse - no replacement right away but waiting time of 3 weeks for repair - last year harddisk failure), 4*19" 4*27" (all have the dust issue behind the screen - very anoying special if you do lots of graphic), ipad, 4 iphones (one with switch on of bottom failure after 8 month - no exchange), mini mac, 2*mini server (complete disk failure after 1.5 years repair only - waiting time 2 weeks for arrival of repacement 1 week for repair)...all our mac purchases are bought with extended apple care warranties btw). we finally i believe we buy them because they match our esthetic style - not our quality requests.
    just reacently had a bad info on appletv - does not run with airplay on the equipment they sold me all the years as i know yet despite their yes...
    but ok these are some of my own problems and i need to get along with them.
    but here is the issue:
    do you have any idea what this pixel graphic issue could be on my mac book pro. it occures frequent, randomly after sleep periods - thus i call it sleep disorder -  and can not be forced to appear for demo issues, thus not easy to show the super busy geniuses at the counter. the screen first is black- nothing at all shows. just if i move the mouse squares get visible as if i used a sponge to clean a dusty table. sometimes a complete section of the screen changes as well. once i cleaned long enough i find the insert window for the password and enter it and here we go as if nothing happened.
    the issue appeared after the harddisk of my second last macbook pro broke just a couple of month old (4 or so) in jan 2012. as mentioned above i got a harddrive and some related wires changed. when i finally got again problems with the harddisk and wifi connection the flagship store replaced it after some not so kind words back and forth the macbook in december 2012.
    brand new machine - i mirrored the system but after a couple of sleep modes the pixelgraphic appeared again.
    no one at apple can help me - even the guys in brussels who were very supportive (macline shop - completely differnt service experience) could not give an answer. at that very same day though on the counter a client next to me had just the same problem - so far so good - it is not only me in the world:)
    i dont know what it is and what it's caused from - but i had a couple of very unpleasant comments  when some clients saw the problem at presentations.
    cheers
    arnd
    MacBook Pro (17-inch Late 2011), pixel graphic

    I've had the same thing happen to my MacPro, although I haven't tried firefox, since upgrading form 10.6.5 to 10.6.6. Seems to happen more when waking from overnight sleep. The only thing I found to fix this is to restart the machine, very annoying.
    My MacBook running 10.6.6 seems to work just fine.

  • Reports Builder: line width of a graphic and generated PDF

    Hello,
    I change the line width of a graphic but in the generated pdf the line width remains equal.
    Some pics:
    The graphic in Reports Builder:

    The xml code:

    <Series id="1" markerType="MT_MARKER" color="#101df" lineWidth="9"/>

    </SeriesItems>
    The graphic in the PDF report:
    !http://i25.tinypic.com/2emq3b5.jpg!
    Why in the PDF report the size is different?
    Thanks in advance and sorry for my english...

    To procede, omit the "(nil)" argument and you should be fine for that line, or specialize the method in question.
    I tried this, but I got error messages pointing to a function that uses the fontInstance pointer. The function is in the form of:
    EstimateStringWidth(WideString run, IFontInstance* fontInstance)
    and the error tells me that the line:
         totalWidth += EstimateStringWidth(charBuff, fontInstance);
    has no matching function.
    Also, most of the samples in the SDK creates a IFontInstance using an InterfacePtr.
    I tried this approach because solutions.pdf suggests this method to estimate text widths... I want to measure the text width of a composed line to determine the raggedness (degree of whitespace left on the end of each line) of a paragraph. But with this issues, am I better off using the GetWidth method of IWaxLine to get the width.
    Now, my next question would be, can I get the estimate width of the line if I change the properties of the paragraph, ie. justification settings, without actually composing the text in the ui. I need this so that I can compute for the optimal settings to changed so that the degree of raggedness of the paragraph would be less than the original.
    Thanks again!

  • How do I take notes on iPad for powerpoint and pdf files..?

    Some professors like to use powerpoint and some use pdf files to presnet their notes..
    and I like handwriting on them.. so I could circle or underline some things..
    I use to use NOTERIZE app and it was woring fine until this morning when it crashed..
    is there any other app that works with both powerpoint and pdf?
    Please let me know~

    One option would be to investigate an MDM such as AirWatch.  Devices can be placed in Single App Mode, or setup with a restricted browser.  You can also display business content on your devices.

  • Problem with pixelation when creating a pdf

    Hi,
    A client sent me an InDesign file and a PDF of what that file made. I was asked to make some text edits. I finish and export to pdf. When viewing my new pdf at 100% the images are pixelated really bad. The original pdf they are high quality images at 100%. I didn't mess with the images at all. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Extra info
    ID CS6
    Images are jpegs
    High quality prin settings
    Compress jpegs (maximum quality)
    Do not downsample

    InDesign creates low resolution previews of placed graphics (to enable quicker screen draws).
    When you opened the file you should have been alerted that the document contained missing links.
    During the work time on the file, the links panel would have shown similair to
    InDesign probably also alerted when you exported to pdf.
    If you have instructed InDesign to disable warnings, you should consider turning them back on from the Preferences panel

  • PowerPoint to PDF

    Hi Folks,
    When I create a PDF (with Acrobat Professional 7) from PowerPoint (2003 or 2007), quality is "Print Quality" I run into the following Problem:
    At the screen view the borders of PNG- and GIF-graphics are very fuzzy and frayed. But when I print the PDF all is fine.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks, Alex
    P.S. The same happens when I creat a PDF from Word

    You are on the wrong forum - this is about PDF, not Acrobat.  Please report on the Acrobat forum.

  • Graphic quality in PDF

    I'm converting PowerPoint slides to PDFs. One image in particular (our company logo) is not faring well in the conversion. I've tried changing the dpi of the output, changing the quality settings for images, changing the downsampling settings -- nothing seems to produce a clean looking logo. Any other tips on what to try in order to end up with clean PDF output from a graphic?
    Orson

    What is different about the logo?
    What type of file did you use to insert in to Powerpoint? Was it vector or bitmap?
    There's a lot we don't know from the little information you have given so any details you may want to add would be helpful like what version of Acrobat you have, what version of Powerpoint, the exact steps you have taken to create the PDF...etc.
