Pixelated PSD Images in FCE what do I do??

Hi
I've imported some images as 720x576 @ 72dpi flattened PSDs into FCE however the images appear very pixellated on canvas.
What do I do??

I have FCE 2, and the images are being used as cutaway from video to a powerpoint slide (formatted as recommended by FCE - TIFF, 720x534 pixels with 72-ppi, made a copy and changed image size to 720x480). What am I doing wrong? When I export the video (Quicktime Movie, self-contained or not), import into iDVD 3.0.1 and burn to DVD-R, I'm still left with fuzzy images on TV and computer. Is this simply the "limitation of DV" and I'll have to live with it?

It's "aspect ratio", not aspect "ration".
It's what determines whether you have square pixels ("normal") or, if rectangular pixels, what the aspect ratio (width : length)  of that rectangle is.
It's explained in the Help files.  I cannot go into more detail because you have neglected to provide information about your platform and exact version of Photoshop.

  • Why are PSD images pixelated on Mobile site?

    Hi all,
In my muse site I have several .psd images that are pixelated when rendered on a mobile version (testing on iPhone 5).
They are psd buttons with a normal & rollover state. I have tried the knack I read somewhere of reducing both layers opacity in PS to 99% but this hasn't helped (can't remember why this would help).
When you pinch to zoom on the mobile, the image obviously gets more pixelated. The image is 165 x134 px....Is it a case of designing the image much larger and then creating a frame in Muse at 165 x 134 and placing the large image in this smaller box? Would this appear crisp when zooming in? The image even at normal size still seems pixelated too?
Really stuck on this one for a while so any help would be much appreciated. The 4 psd buttons appear under 'Features' on the middle of the home page.
    thanks.

  • What to do with a psd image in Modified folder that I can't see.

With an original jpeg image I modified the image in PSE (which is set as default editor in iPhoto) using layers. I did a Save. The psd is in my modified folder but is not displayed by iPhoto. I understand that I should have used a Save As (eg to desktop) and imported that image back to iPhoto.
Is it OK to move the psd image out of the Modified folder to desktop and then import it back into iPhoto? Thanks,

  • Dark outline of pixels around images in PDF

When saving a pdf from Illustrator,  close cropped PSD images have a dark edge of pixels in the final PDF. It looks like a black outline when viewed in Acrobat. I have since found if I flatten the transparency before saving as a PDF , it displays fine. Why is the PDF having problems with Illustrator’s use of transparency?

When you export your PDF in Adobe Illustrator then change these settings:
Adobe PDF Preset to High Quality Print
    Standard to PDF /X-1a:2001
Now export your PDF, you will see that your problem is fixed, no need to say thanks to me.
Same problem show in Adobe InDesign too, here is video tutorial showing how can your export your pdf in InDesign:

  • Transparent PSD image in Illustrator changes color of vector background after print.

Hello, I really don't know how to explain this so I'll just upload my files which are located here: http://rapidshare.com/files/4040672260/Green%20circle.rar
I have a green vector background in illustrator and then I placed psd image over it and created PDF for press and under Color bitmap images I selected no compression.
After viewing image in Acrobat all seems ok, I even checked with picker, but after I send this to printer (xerox in thsi case) I end up with this: .
Both .psd and .ai are in CMYK color space. For this particular case I could use mask to cover up that transparent space but my original project has shadows which I cannot mask by vector :S.
Can someone plz explain to me what I am doing whrong or how to set color profiles or whatever is neccessary to avoid this issue. One thing I was using was, opening PDF in Photoshop and flatening all. Problem is that sometimes I need vector files and cut lines for cutter. Don't want to have bitmap, if I can have a vector? Also when I flaten image I do get same CMYK values in photoshop (with picker) than I have in Illustrator on vector object, but when I print this they don't match at all.
    Does someone know a solution?
THANKS in advance and sry for my bad english.
    Stefan

Nothing worng with your .ai or .psd file, prints fine here. Problem is with your tranparency flattening.
Most likely you can fix that by print >>  Advanced >> Custom >.> Move slider all the way towards rasters.
If you need more help, let us knwo your printere, and screenshtos of your print settings can help.

  • Avoiding pixelation with image resizing

i just redesigned my site (with a ton of help from many people on this forum--thank you nancy riki osgood
    Sudarshan!!)
i have my thumbnails resizing (using max width: 100%) in a gallery but on a large browser window like my 32" monitor they get pixelated when they scale up, particularly the text..
is there  a way to start with a higher resolution image and display them at a smaller display size so when they scale up they stay crisp?

    thanks..

    Hello mate, Welcome back!
Ideally, I wouldn't do a 100% width for your images on the site for enlarging them. No matter what plug-in you use, you'll definitely end up pixelating the image at least to some extent.
However, if you're definitely looking at achieving this, try this: http://archive.plugins.jquery.com/project/aeImageResize
And, start with a higher resolution of the image. The plug-in will scale it down proportionately depending on the screen dimension you're displaying it on, rather the DIV dimension that holds the image inside.
Also, it is to be noted that usage of multiple jQuery will lead to a performance issue on your site. You should keep this in mind.
One last thing: having said that you should start with a higher image resolution, your load time for the site will considerably increase as the plug-in only scales down the image visually, it doesn't load differently sized images!
If I were you, I'll keep the thumbnail images to zoom in to one optimal size and then provide a link inside my fancybox/ lightbox to a much fuller, bigger size image - if someone is interested in seeing them/ downloading the big size image.

  • Certain psd images are saving darker as jpegs

    I use Photoshop CS3.
Certain psd images are turning out darker after I save them as jpegs. The shadows are far more predominant and the images are significantly darkened. This only happens with photographs that I have edited over the past two or three days. All photographs that I have edited four days ago or more save exactly as they appear in photoshop. There is no darkening whatsoever. I can't figure out what is causing this recent batch of photographs to save differently.
Both batches are RGB 8 bits, Color Mode 3, with an ICC profile of sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
    Thanks.

Is your display profiled and calibrated, and if so, what software/hardware did you do this with?
What version of Windows are you running?
It sounds as though your Windows Photo Viewer may not properly be using the document and monitor profiles to do color-management.
Windows Photo Viewer has been color-managed since at least as far back as XP SP3, but I'm wondering if your monitor profile just isn't being interpreted correctly.  Perhaps it's in a format your OS software can't handle.

  • Pixelated jpg image files

    Muse 7.2, OSX 10.9.2
I have inline images and a gallery slideshow on a site.  Some of these images are extremely pixelated on the rendered web page.  All the images were sized in Photoshop to the exact pixel dimensions and saved as  saved-for-web jpegs in Photoshop.
Several of the inline images have been on my site for about a year and only recently appear pixelated.  I'm making some edits to my site but have not touched any of the images that are now pixelated.  Also, I have embedded the links to all images so Muse need not search through my computer for the image source files.
I did replace one pixelated inline image with the same source file, but with a different file name.  For some reason this image now renders properly.  However this technique did not have any benefit on several images in a slideshow gallery that has both thumbnails and full size image.
What's your opinion why these images appear pixelated, and what suggestions might overcome the trouble?
    Best regards,
    Tim

    Zak,
A second thought on pixellated images.  Currently I have overcome the problem by replacing all the affected images with a replacement image (the same original) but using a different file name.  These same images are used elsewhere in the site, but at different sizes.  Likely the file name was the same as the images that became pixellated.
The odd thing is that other images that have not pixellated have the same treatment.  In several places (pages) the images are the same with the same file name but at a different size.
I have not made this site active yet but these odd problems have made for lots of extra work to sort out.  You can see this site at:  www.fractalfotos.com/debV3/index.html
    Thanks, Tim

  • .MOV to .PSD image shift...HELP!!!!!!

I have a .MOV and a .PSD file of the same image, the .MOV is of the .PSD image animating into its place on the .PSD. However when the track (.MOV) jumps to the Layered Menu (.PSD). there is an image shift. How do I prep the files so that the uncompressed quicktime movie and the photoshop file will line up seamlessley?
    Any help appreciated!
    Bill

I don't know enough about how you applied the motion to tell you exactly why this happends, but I have clue:
If you are animating the motion in FCP in an uncompressed sequence, the frame size will actually be 720x486. When this gets encoded to mpeg, it gets cropped to 720x480, 4 lines top and 2 bottom, to keep the field order the same.
I start with a 720x486 file in photoshop, and then manually crop it 4 top and 2 bottom to prepare the version of the still file for the DVDSP menu.
I might also recommend simply extending your motion quicktime to include the still at the end. It should only add a minute of video to your disc. You can even set the menu in DVDSP to a stilll at the end, as opposed to looping.
Another thing that can effect positioning of photoshop layers in FCP or DVDSP is if there are any pixels on the layer outside the bounds of the canvas. A quick "select all-image:crop" will eliminate this.

  • Blurry / Pixelated R3D images in Premiere CC 2014

FYI, for anyone else (like me) who has experienced pixelation / blurry images when viewing certain R3D files on the timeline or in the source window in Premiere CC 2014: this issue can be solved by right clicking on the problem clip(s) in the timeline or in the project files panel, selecting "Source Settings," and clicking "Save to RMD." You'll see the image become fully sharp again immediately.
This blurriness happens even when the still and playback resolution settings are set to "Full" in the program and source windows, and it isn't fixed by adjusting sequence settings. It was still visible even after exporting to Quicktime files, which created a huge headache for us as we tried to figure out what we were doing wrong in our sequence or export settings. Turns out both of them were fine, it was just this "Save to RMD" glitch.
An Adobe staff member replied and said they will fix this in around a month: Red footage pixelated on Import into AE.

Update: Unfortunately it's not all good news.
Trying to render out to H.264 wiht Mercury CUDA still gives a crash rendering with the typically uninformative 'Unknown Error'. Software rendering does not, but it's very slow.
Miraizon Codec and the Premiere native Cineform also crash with 'unknown error'. However I can render out using Cineform Mov at 12bit using my registered copy of Cineform. Not fast, about 1/8 real time.

  • Photoshop images into FCE

Hi - I am trying to import images into FCE but am having a difficult time.  I have clipped around a medicine ball and gotten rid of the background, so that it in the video it would appear as though I am holding the medicine ball.  When I bring the image into FCE, the medicine ball has a black, square border around it.  I have done this with a few different images and the same thing happens.  Any suggestions?

Did you save the image in a format that supports background transparency?  TIFF, PSD and PNG will work.
