Pixelation issues with VoD

Getting pixelation and sound dropping through ALL of certain shows.
I have read through the forums: I've checked my wiring, I have tried playing with the AC on and off... everything I have seen here, but there is a catch witch proves (I believe) that it is not my hardware.
For instance, I felt like watching Game of Thrones today...
Season 4 Ep 1 - Could not watch due to pixelation and sound dropping through ENTIRE episode
Ep 2 - Watched it just fine
Ep 3 - BAD
4 - GOOD
5 - BAD
6 - GOOD
7 - BAD
8 - GOOD
9 - BAD
10 - BAD
The "Good" ones are flawless, no problems, absolutely what I pay for...
The "Bad" ones are unwatchable in any way.
I am seeing this intermittant GOOD and BAD quality On Demand often lately.
What's going on and please do not tell me to reconnect my equipment (which I have done just in case) The above problems do not describe an issue with my hardware.
I have so few reasons to ever complain about my service, I love you guys!! But this is way more than irritating for the amount of money I pay each month.

I have been experiencing this on all VOD TV shows and movies since installing Quantum VMS and clients. VZ tech came out to check signal (excellent) and said it is a known problem for 3 weeks now. VZ customer service personnel just refuse to admit it.  I am in Virginia Beach.

  • Pixel Issue With Screen

    I've had my iPod video for less than 90 days. I purchased it through a local Best Buy retail store. Just a few weeks ago, I noticed that there is a discolored pixel on my screen. It shows up primarily when the screen is black (i.e: when loading videos, playing games, etc.) The pixel is red consistently and does not change color with the rest of the screen.
    I know this seems like a trivial issue. However, having the iPod for less than 90 days, something like this really shouldn't have occurred in the first place. The iPod is not damaged in any way. It works perfectly fine, otherwise.
    I'm wondering if anybody else has had this problem with their iPod video or if anybody has any recommendation as to what I should do about it.

    I've been to that page multiple times. But, I'm always unclear of what's going to happen to my iPod in the repair process once I send it off (i.e: all my mp3's being deleted, my whole iPod being reset, etc.).
    I've read the legalities and it seems like there's so many strings attached. That's why I was wondering if there's anything that I can do myself to fix it so that I don't have to send it off or if I could just take it to an Apple Store.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Pixelation issue with logo

    OK, so this issue is now the bane of my existence.  I have a logo that I created in Illustrator CS5 that I use on my website but also on Facebook.  Here is a link to my logo on my domain:

    This looks fine and exactly how I want it to appear.  However here is the exact same logo (multiple times) in my facebook album.

    This might be easier to see on a laptop where you can tilt the screen but notice the pixelation around the letters and at the edge of the circle.  When I remove the letters the orange in the centre has no pixelation but it is still around the edges.  I uploaded the same logo but in green and the pixelation is still there however it's hardly noticable.  I need to have this logo in the orange/red colour and even when I use web safe colours the issue still persists.
    I have tried the following things which have not helped:
    saved as .png, .tiff, .gif, .jpg
    saved for web
    exported
    exported to photoshop
    web safe colours
    align to pixel grid
    removed anti-aliasing
    resizing
    This is driving me mad - so any help is hugely appreciated.

    I took the larger jpeg you had and saved that for the web and got this
    which looks pretty good you shoud be able to do better with your save for the web.
    I know the problem, in the Save for the Web and Device you should select either Art Optimise or Text Optimize
    right now you probably have none selected.

  • MBA text pixelation issue with projector

    I tried a high-end Optima projector with my MBA and found the output to be very pixelated. I tried it with a MacBook Pro and it looked perfect. I made sure the resolutions and other settings were the same on both laptops. In my MBA under preferences/appearance, I selected the different font smoothing styles, but that didn't help. Does anyone have thoughts on this? Thanks!

    If image quality on your web site matters to you, consider using SVG for your vector graphics.

    Newest Photoshop supports simple SVG export from the Generator features (just add .svg extension to Photoshop CC vector layers.
    For photos, consider serving 2X images to Hi-DPI users and 1X images to everyone else by using CSS,  JavaScript or PHP script.  Of course, this necessitates creating & hosting 2 sets of images. But it works.

  • Strange Vertical lines and pixelation issues with my Powerbook screen...Hel

    I have got a problem with mt LCD screen which now permanently displays lines of "dead" pixels, but they can't be dead because they chaneg all the time. If I move a window, I get lots more, which are created by the edge of the window, like a ghosting? Does that make sense?
    I have taken a screen grab, but not sure how to feature it in these forums. Anyone got any ideas or know about this problem?
    I have had a similar problem with this and other laptops, but it has always been a temporary thing before, when I had overloaded the system or something, and I got 'ghosting' from the trailing edge of a window, but this is permanently there?

    I have now attached a monitor to the PB, and it happens on the monitor too...maybe suggesting something wrong with the graphics card or logic board, rather than the screen itself. When I type this message, I get strange red 'ghosting' lines where the cursor moves across the page.It reminds me of the 'Etch-o-sketch' game, where you draw lines, and then wipe them off. I can move a window from left to right and get these ghosting lines. When I move the window back right to left, they erase the lines to the left of the window, but I get more to the trailing right edge of the window...i.e. on the right of the screen.
    Scrolling also removes these pixels, but creates new ones elsewhere.
    Any ideas?

    as i am new here i have no idea if this is the right place to post but yea, anyways i have a ipod nano 3rd generation 8GB. today as a i looked at my coverflow, it was all pixelated, it didn't work, so then i tried to restore my ipod, and it corruped it? i turned it off unplugging it and turning it back on "middle button and menu button" then when it restarted and i plugged it into itunes it knew it was "corrupted" so i restored it, after that it was working okay till i put a song on it and the thingies were still pixelated, any ideas on what could be wrong, help very much appreciated

  • Shouldn't Apple recall and provide FREE replacement for MacBook Pro screens with ghosting and dead pixel issues?

    Read the forum posts, Google the issue, watch the YouTube videos on the problems; they are everywhere. I purchased a 2012 Retina MacBook Pro and the screen is riddled with dead pixels, white ghosting throughout, and image retention issues, all from a company that promotes the quality of the product they sell. There's no way this issue facing so many consumers shouldn't result in Apple replacing these screens for FREE.
    I purchased the high-end machine for photo and video editing. Photo editing is particularly difficult when I can't tell if I have dust, dirt or colour shifts in my images or if it's just the screen overlaying these issues. I've never had so many issues with any screen I've purchased, from my Panasonic Plasma TV to my cheap ACER laptop. Please Apple, quit ignoring this issue.

  • I have a issue with my screen now and then it shows colored pixels all over the screen

    is started somw days ago i didnt do any software update but when i change webpages or apps on the desktop thise pixels come out it's like small squares colored and they go away after a few seconds. what can it be? maybe some issues with the video card?

    I have this as well.  imac i7.  Not sure if its hardware (video card) or software related.  Does it look like this?

  • Issues with using 3 monitors on 2 external gpu

    I have some issues with configuring Xorg to use 3 monitors. I have 2 external graphic cards (same model, no SLI). Monitors connected to the first gpu are recognized ok but I can't configure my 3rd monitor conencted to the second gpu via HDMI nor DVI.
    1st is recognized as DVI-I-1, 2nd is DP-1 in first card, 3rd monitor is in second card (bus 22:00.0) as DP-1-2 (also tried connecting as DVI-I-2). I can see them in Xorg log but I can't configure my 3rd monitor via kscreen nor xrandr. :-/

    I have  a similar issue except with two ATI cards and four monitors.
    I have a working xorg.conf that uses Xinerama and all 4 work but have been trying to get xrandr to work since xinerama is deprecated supposedly.
    I would like to switch to xrandr but there is some kind of magic voodoo I have with my current xorg.conf that doesn't even work on an exact same machine and cards that I tried to setup for a co-worker.

    My Xorg.0.log shows all the DVI connections when I don't use a xorg.conf file but only two are "connected"
    I see DVI-0 and DVI-1 connected and in "xrandr -q" but in Xorg.0.log I see DVI-1-2 and DVI-1-3.
    xrandr --listproviders show the two cards as well.
    Tried "xrandr --setprovideroutputsource 1 0" and they show up in KDE but as clones and then X crashes eventually.
    "xrandr --setprovideroutputsource 0 1" just plain crashes X

  • GDM and Gnome graphical issues with Nvidia card

    Hi !
    I want to install archlinux with cinnamon as desktop environment on the computer of a friend, but I have some issue with it, and especially with (I think) the graphic card, it's a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200LE.
    I tried installing nvidia-173xx from the aur first. I installed gdm, but it's extremly slow, as a result that I can't log in (nevertheless the mouse is fluid..)  the cpu is not so much used yet, and it's the same thing in the cinnamon session or the gnome session (I tried installing lightdm to log in which works fine). Moreover, in the session I've got some strange graphical things, such as some missing white pixels, or a blue window when I launch nautilus, ...     I tried to install the nouveau driver instead, and now gdm don't freeze, I can log in, but there is always these strange graphical issues.
    Is the graphic card too old for gnome ? Or did I forget something ?

    I'm no expert on reading the xsession errors, but I had all sorts of problems running gnome3 with my machine of the same vintage.   Cinamon is based on gnome3.  I switched to Mate which is a re-packaging of the old gnome2 along with Compiz for the window manager and all works well.
    I strongly suspect that they are using the newer OpenGL 4 API.  The Nvidia FX5200 is stuck at OpenGL 2.1.

    Hello all
    Got an iMac since January 2008 and I do like it a lot, even though it has some issues:
    -- It displays (quite often) lines partially across the screen
    -- Lines appear as well when opening applications or when menus come up
    -- The system freezes more than I like to admit (more than my Windows/Ubuntu box)
    I don't know if the freezing has to do with the lines that are shown on my screen. But I assume that both issues relate to some video card problem. I can't be sure - but that's what I assume from living with this issue day to day.
    The line on the desktop (most of the time it is there before login) I can always get rid of by changing the display resolution to something else and then changing it back. Normally the line is gone, or, reappears on a different spot on the desktop. But repeating the procedure removes the line.
    However, this does not mean that the lines are not showing up again when launching apps or displaying menus!
    And since those lines appear to happen randomly, I think it's safe to assume that we're not talking dead pixels here, either...
    About the freezing:
    My iMac freezes sometimes when I move the mouse around, when switching desktops using "spaces" or when the zoom function of the Dock kicks in. Sometimes the screen goes completely black, sometimes completely white. The mouse, however, always works. But the system requires a reboot.
    Again, this happens too often to feel comfy about it.
    With my little knowledge of Mac troubleshooting I assume that there's something wrong with the ATI card that's built into my Mac. On the other hand, some people say that they started getting similar issues after updating their OS to Leopard. Again other people say that such issues stem from an ATI revision that is too old and the Mac should get a new ATI card. And how would that work? Isn't that an "all-in-one" machine with everything soldered onto the mainboard?
    So, any help in this matter is greatly appreciated...

  • Multiple issues with my iPhone 3GS since 4.1; can anyone help?

    Hi,
    I have an iPhone 3GS 16GB which I love very much. Vital Statistics are:
    Version: 4.1 (8B117)
    Carrier: Voda AU 8.0
    Model: MC132X
    Modem Firmware: 05.14.02
    I bought it through Vodafone Australia in January this year. It’s been brilliant, it is this device which convinced me Apple sold brilliant gear, and greatly influenced me to buy my iMac 27", 17" Macbook Pro, Airport Extreme, and Time Capsule.
    I am a Senior Test Analyst with telco experience in all of Australia’s mobile phone operators (3, Vodafone, Optus, and Telstra). I now work for a global media company, and depend on my iPhone for phonecalls, emails, internet, getting access to my share trading platform, banking apps, calendar, etc.
    I went to Germany for 2 months, and I bought the unlock from my carrier, Vodafone Australia, so I could use a usim from Vodafone DE in Germany. Vodafone’s instructions were that in order to apply the unlock, I had to connect my iPhone to iTunes, where it would download an update from Apple and unlock my phone.
    I performed the upgrade to 4.1, which was a completely clean install after backing everything up.
    Unfortunately, after upgrading from 3.1.3 to 4.1 I am having no end of issues with my trusty (once) 3GS.
    Issues I am currently encountering:
    1. Dropped calls. Both in Germany, and in Australia, my iPhone is dropping calls at a rate it has never, ever done before. 1 out of ever 2-3 calls is being dropped. The voice quality is also degraded over what I remember it being (both in AU and DE), and I’m getting ‘squawks’ and ‘screeches’ in the middle of my conversations which I never had prior to upgrading.
    2. Signal strength is very poor. Before I upgraded to 4.1, I was able to make and receive phonecalls at my desk at work (right in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, right next to Hyde Park.) without issue. I was able to walk in between my company’s offices in the CBD and talk the whole way without problem. Now, I get 1 bar at my desk, and I’m lucky if I can make a phonecall 50% of the time there. I can no longer receive the volume of calls that I used to at my desk either. Walking between offices sees my phone calls drop EVERY TIME now. At home, with 3.1.3, I had no problem with reception. Now, I drop calls inside my house on a regular basis, and I often don’t have enough signal to make calls at home where prior I had no issues. My younger brother, who bought an iPhone 3GS on the same day I did, from the same Vodafone store, at the same time, is still on 3.1.2. He has no problems with reception in the house at all. He walks around taunting me holding phonecalls without issue.
    3. Internet performance has been devastated. Whereas my google maps, email, and internet access used to be fast and crisp, now it is slow and haphazard. I am also seeing the 3G symbol disappear and be replaced by an E symbol, and my phone seems to have difficulty staying on the 3G network. My brother, standing right next to me, does not have these problems. Once again, my brother’s iPhone 3GS on 3.1.2 does not have any internet problems when he is using his iPhone right beside me. We are on the same carrier (Vodafone AU), on the same plan.
    4. My iPhone battery life has been dramatically reduced. Whereas I used to be able to use it for almost a full day, with minor top ups when it got really busy, now my battery life vanishes before my eyes in half the time. This is with the device simply not being up to the task of performing the workload it used to!
    5. My iphone locks up, and crashes at random times, and I’ve been having to hard-reset it on occasion.
    6. My iPhone is far slower than it used to be. I’ve compared it to my brother’s identical 3GS on 3.1.2, and his phone flies in comparison to mine! Opening my SMS’s, email client, and internet browser is painfully slow.
    7. When calling a number, often my iPhone ‘waits’ for 20-30 seconds at the ‘calling mobile’ screen before I hear any tone from the phone indicating that it’s making the phone call. This never happened when it was running 3.1.3. This never happens on my brother’s identical 3GS.
    8. My wireless performance has decreased. I have run bandwidth tests through my wireless router numerous times from www.speedtest.net, and compared them with my brother’s results performed right before and right after mine. I’ve run this test against my brother’s 3GS more than enough times to form a statistical picture. On the whole, my wireless performance is around 10-15% worse than his 3GS.
    I work in the telco industry. I regularly chat with the radio engineers who fix up blackspots in 3G coverage for Telstra and 3 Australia. I know that the excuse offered, that of the iPhone software correctly reporting the signal now and not before is absolute rubbish. My 3GS used to work at my desk, between my offices, and at home flawlessly. It crawls along now, and it does not get the reception signal quality it used to.
    I have wiped my iPhone several times now. I have put it into DFU mode and totally, cleanly installed the 4.1 software. I have done this 4 times now.
    The clean installs have not fixed the issues above.
    I would like to know what my options are for fixing these issues?
    The prime questions I have are:
    1. How can I roll back this accursed update?
    2. Why would Apple release a software update(s) that hasn't been tested, and dramatically negatively impacts my beloved 3GS?
    3. How can I get my brilliant 3GS +*back to the way it was*+!?!?
    I’m very, very disappointed. And to be honest, the simple fact I’m taking the time out of my busy day to write this post means I’m very angry as well.
    I know the problem with my 3GS *is not a hardware issue*. It's a software issue, and I'd like to know how I can get my old, fast, reliable, brilliant 3GS back.

    The picture you show is normal. If you lightly double tap home button it activates reach ability mode for one handed operation. Nothing is wrong there. Another light double tap returns it to full screen. Do not press, just light touch the home button. AAs far as the other issues check the in call volume or ringer volume as it happens, just a possibility. as far as the banner not displayed on lock screen, as far as I know you need to have notifications set to alerts not banners in order for them to show up on the lock screen.

    When I try to view data after creating the data set, I get the following error:

    Now when I remove those Presention variables (@{PV1}, @{PV2}) in the query with some hard coded values, it is working fine.
    So I know it is the PV that's causing this error.
    How can I work around it?
    There is no way to create equivalent report without using the direct sql..

    I have found a solution to this problem after some more investigation. PowerQuery does not support to use SQL statement as source for Teradata (possibly same for other sources as well). This is "by design" according to Microsoft. Hence the problem
    is not because different PowerQuery versions as mentioned above. When designing the query in PowerQuery in Excel make sure to use the interface/navigation to create the query/select tables and NOT a SQL statement. The SQL statement as source works fine on
    a client machine but not when scheduling it in Power BI in the cloud. I would like to see that the functionality within PowerQuery and Excel should be the same as in Power BI in the cloud. And at least when there is a difference it would be nice with documentation
    or more descriptive errors.

  • Transparency Issues with PSD files in FCP 7

    I'm having some weird file layer transparency issues with FCP 7. I'm working on a project that's made up entirely of graphics drawn in Photoshop CS5. They Photoshop settings were done to match an HDTV 1080i (16:9) sequence in FCP. In FCP, the pixels were set to square, field dominance to none, frame rate to 29.97 and compressor is Apple ProRes 422.
    I exported my PSD files out of Photoshop, with each layer being exported to its own file. In general, things were fine, but there were a few files where you could see the outline of the character against the background, but mind you that this is only visible once the video is rendered out in the FCP timeline. Nothing is visible in Photoshop, nor is it visible while viewing from the Browser in FCP. I told this to the artist and he went back and made corrections, making sure everything was on a transparent background, but the result was still the same - once I rendered the graphics out in FCP, these edge lines were visible.
    I then went back into Photoshop, opened all the files that were giving me trouble, clicked on the "foreground color" and changed it to a color other than white, then back to white and hit ok. That seemed to work - even when rendered out, I was getting no artifacts, until I tried enlarging the graphics over 100%.
    Also, with some of the same graphics, I was trying to layer them so that a guy was in the foreground with other people and a van behind him in the background. Once again, no problem in Photoshop, but once brought into FCP, the background people were actually being displayed over the main foreground character.
    I'm pretty baffled - what to do? I'll attach a photo of the weird lines around the characters. It might be hard to see at this size, but if you download and enlarge it to 300% or so, you'll see what I mean.

    Adam, did you try what David said about pointing to the root folder?  Did that work?
    When I copy the SD card, I name a new folder on my hard drive something specific, like Smith Wedding.  Then I copy everything inside the SD card to that new folder.  The first level inside my new folder now has folders for
    AVF_INFO
    PRIVATE
    and on down from there.  When you open Log and Transfer, point it to the Smith Wedding folder (of course whatever you have named yours).
    ClipWrap2 also works great to convert the files beforehand if you want.
    What camera are you using?  I have the Sony NX30 and it was giving me fits because the .mts files don't ingest if the clips are longer than 11 min. My problem is that I'm still on FCP 6.0.6.  I think 7.0.3 fixed that.  But I did find enough work-arounds to keep the camera.

  • Wierd issue with Sound Blaster Z and Windows 8.1

    I have just started having an issue with my sound card. For the past year it has been working perfectly fine with no issues. There have been no recent changes to the computer, but within the past week, if I am in the middle of a game or listening to music, the computer will once a day lock up, I then have to restart the computer. After it restarts, the right speakers, and only the right will not work, Center, Subwoofer, and Left side speakers work 5.0. I then go the Sound Blaster Z-series control panel and re-enable the surround sound. At this point the Center and Subwoofer cease to work, but the right side works perfectly fine. After a couple of resets the center and subwoofer still do not work. I then have to go to the back of the computer and change the cable for the center / subwoofer from left most to the second left most (as looking at the back of computer from the top side). It will work fine this way with all speakers working, for roughly a day then it will lock up again. I have to go through the same process, but move the cable from the second left most to the left most output for it to work again. I tried for the past two days to troubleshoot by removing all the software and creative drivers. Same issue after reinstalling with a fresh driver set. Any help, because this is completely annoying.

    Considering that there is already a ca0132 driver for linux, which was made to support chromebook pixel laptop. It should not be hard for creative to make that driver compatible with discrete cards and motherboards that make use of that chip. But Creative seriously dropped the ball on users and does not care about them. I do not understand this, because all previous creative cards are supported in linux. Steam OS and steam boxes are around the corner and Creative is missing a big opportunity.
