Pixelation once uploaded.

Hi all,
Here's what I got. I built a website in iWeb 1.1.2 and it looks fine... except for a few images. I know that an image will appear pixilated when the file is not of a sufficient size but it looks fine in iWeb and then pixelated on the actual web. Any thoughts?

Why does my vector drawing become pixelated once uploaded to the Creative Cloud?

I'm drawing in Adobe Ideas on my iPad. I assume the only way to save it is to upload it to the Creative Cloud. When I go to view it in the cloud, it looks pixelated. Even when I download it, it is still pixelated. Why is this happening?

Projects are blurry once uploaded/saved?

Everytime I save something in PSE 11 that has text or graphics, I feel like the clarity is not even remotely close to what I was seeing in PSE. The whole thing often has a blurry/pixelated look to it. I am sure that any graphics are large files for clarity and in PSE 11 they appear very clear and sharp, I am usually saving in .png The resolution is 300.
What can I do to make sure that they save crystal clear and sharp so that once they are uploaded (to somewhere like Facebook for a timeline cover) that they don't loose that sharpness to text and graphics that I see in PSE? What is the best format to save in? I don't have this issue with pictures I am editing, it seems to just be stuff I am making. Business cards, timeline covers, forum signatures,etc.

For things such as timeline covers, I have no choice but to upload to Facebook. But I seem to loose clarity on text/graphics once uploaded, even though I've seen other make covers with PSE products and theirs are sharp and crips looking.
Should I save in another format? When I save in .png it asks about interlace. Do I choose none or interlace? I usually choose none.

Can't get Quicktime videos to play once uploaded - using iWeb 08

Please help. I just updated my work website and uploaded a few quicktime videos of my TV spots. These same spots were uploaded and played fine on my last website update last year. But this time around, they're not working so well. Once uploaded, if you click on the controls under the screen, they don't respond. If you double-click the actual screen, the video starts and stops playing.
How can I get my quicktime videos to play like they're supposed to on my site? I'm using iWeb 08 and my version of Safari is 5.0.2.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked. However, it's three different videos on three different pages, and each video is pretty much the only thing on each page.

I have checked the box that said DELETE PHOTOS ON MEMORY CARD ONCE UPLOADED ON IPHOTO, and I did check "don't ask me again"... and now I do not know how to undo this mistake I made.

What OS and version of iPhoto -- prior to Lion
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

Color and quality of photo changes once uploaded to online printing galleries (like Shutterfly).

The photos are RGB. Shutterfly can't figure out why and says there must be some error in the file when it is saved. Does anyone have a reason and/or solution? The portion of the photo on the left is edited, the one on the right is how the image looks once uploaded. It happens to every single photo.
I saved for web and uploaded again and the color looks a little better, but still not right. The one on the right is the correct original:

The way I work is as follows (my screens are colour hardware calibrated):
- create the image
- convert the image with the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour profile, set to perceptual rendering
- export to web with sRGB profile embedded (optional)
The last step makes no difference in colour when you view the final results (with or without embedded colour profile) in either IE or Opera: they are identical. In FF and Chrome it does affect the colour quality, with the embedded profile version more correct looking.
And I would argue AGAINST turning on that option in Firefox, because you are isolating yourself from the rest of the world: at least then you will be aware of the slight colour change, while with the option turned on you cannot know.
I tend to disagree with this workflow - it means pretty much no-one except you will be able to see the image as intended, because no-one is going to activate that option in Firefox. And what about other browsers?
Of course you have no control over how everybody else's systems are set up, but that's not your problem, it's theirs.
Disagree. While you cannot control the setup of others, I am of the opinion we should try our best to provide the best quality, and therefore we should be aware of these issues while we work with and preview our imagery on the web. It feels to me as if this is an ostrich approach: hiding your head in the sand, and hoping the problem goes away.

As for ShutterFly: I just did some testing of my own, and it seems Shutterfly does not care one bit whether a jpg has an embedded sRGB profile or not. I uploaded both versions of mine (embedded and no sRGB profile), and checked the generated thumbnails with this:

It tells me the processed thumbnails have no profile embedded, so it becomes a crap shoot what the output (printed) quality will be like - you cannot trust the colours in their thumbnails/previews in a browser, because the OS and the browser will have to handle those untagged images.
It seems the best you can hope for with ShutterFly is to upload your images after you converted them with the sRGB profile in your image editor (Photoshop, Photoline, etc) and exporting the JPGs with an embedded sRGB profile.

Cp6: mp4. Video works perfectly when published, once uploaded to website, does not appear.

The mp4 works perfectly when reviewing the published file from my computer, however, once uploaded to my web site, does not work, just a blank screen. The rest of the file works perfectly.
I am uploading to a Google site and a Google drive, so security, I think, is not an issue.

Getting Flash to run is a real Pain! If I don't get it soon, I'm
just going to use links... this is getting ridiculous. This should
be SIMPLE... embed the video , download to the server and GO.

Does Adobe Reader for iPad save annotations by/in itself (once uploaded from e.g. dropbox)

Does Adobe Reader for iPad save annotations by/in itself (once uploaded from dropbox I can still see them after closing the app or switching documents)? I lost some valuable annotations while switching documents and apps over time. How do I save them? Only by sending it to dropbox for instance?

It saves the file when:
1) The app goes to background
2) A share action (open in, email, print) occurs
3) A form submit occurs
4) You close the document by going to "Home" or "Documents", or open another document
One issue that people encounter is that they open the file in a reader that does not support annotations (like the dropbox PDF view or the iOS Mail app). It doesn't sound like this is the case for you though, since you do see the annotations.
There is a known issue, where on a small number of documents with specific properties, we fail to save changes. This is an issue that we have fixed and will be in our next release. The release is currently pending approval by Apple. It's possible that you encountered this issue, and if so, I apologize.

Im using Muse whichj crashes like you would not beleive, but after much perseverance I got a basic 4 page holding site together, I tested the site and it all looked fine, when I uploaded it to the server it looks nothing like the site I tested, to the point that even the background has changed colour and nothing is in the rite place.

Pixelated web uploads

I upload a lot of my images to facebook when I'm done. I've never had an issue before but recently I've been working a lot with reds and the images look horribly pixelated when uploaded. I shoot in sRGB RAW on a 7d, edit in 16bit and export an sRGB JPEG. The JPEG at my end looks fine but compression at Facebook, photobucket etc is really knocking it about.
Here's an example of a trouble image. Uploading it in PNG to photobucket gave me a clean upload but this doesn't work on facebook:

When publishing to a folder page looks awful once uploaded. Can anyone help

I've read through at least 30 pages on this forum and seem to be unable to find something to help me remedy my problem.
I made a really simple site in iWEB. When I publish to a folder and click the "visit this site now" button, everything looks perfect. However, once I upload the site, using Fetch, the site looks awful. The Arial font is replaced by something else. The "made on a mac" image disappears. The navbar is non existent, and none of my other pages display properly (when I manually enter there addresses).
I read a previous post about changing my Fetch settings so that data uploads in binary (raw) form and did that. I tried changing text-encoding in my browser to UTF-8, but that did not help either.
I've cleared the folder on my home computer a number of times and tried republishing and re-uploading and that does not help. I've tried viewing the page in Safari, Mozilla, and Explorer, and it looks terrible in all 3. The site is:

You have changed the permissions (or they are incorrect) on your home_files directory. I get a forbidden message when trying to access that directory. The sylesheet (css) and other files there dictate how the home page is diplayed. Make sure that all the permissions on the directories for your site are set correctly.

Flash video does not show up once uploaded. Help please.

OK I've spent several days searching online for an answer to this question and I'm at my wit's end. Please help me out. This is what is going on.
I'm using flash to design a basic website. Within that website I want to place a .flv file. Everything works fine in preview mode and test movie mode. The problem comes when I puplish to the web. I'm just using flash to publish which puts all the files in a folder.
IN previous attempts, once I load those files onto a server it does not play the .flv file. The .sfw skin will show up but the general .sfw file for the project doesn't seem to be finding the .flv file. And yes, I'm uploading the .flv file to the server. Is there something wrong with the html code that it can't find the .flv file? I can replicate this problem on my desktop by moving the .flv file out of it's project folder. Once I do that and then click the .html file the page will load but it won't find the video file. It's like it can only open that file if it's in the original project folder and the folder doesn't get moved.
I can't be the only who has experienced this. Please help!

The effect you're having "only displaying the flvplayer skin but no video" is a clear sign that your swf can't find the flv.
One thing that you can do to ensure that everything is right is to first upload the .flv file to the desired location and then link your FLVPlayback to the url on the flash IDE / AS.
2nd Option would be to:
save flv, fla and swf in the SAME folder (no subfolders or such)
upload flv and swf to your webserver while keeping them together in the same folder, that ensures that your files can find eachother.

How to get songs back on iTunes once uploaded to iCloud & deleted off hard drive?

I have my 10,000 song library saved on an external hard drive. I got the subscription to help limit used space on my laptop hard drive. I started iTunes Match with my entire library (external drive) and uploaded my entire 10,000 songs. Once completed I deleted everything from my iTunes program & unplugged my external.
Now my computer has absolutely no songs on it and I now expected to have access to my entire 10,000 song library from the cloud. Once restarting my computer and iTunes I opened a library of all my songs visible in iCloud with download buttons but I was unable to actually click & download any of the songs that showed.
I turned off iTunes Match from the "Store" menu and turned it back on. Now my library is completely empty but when I check the iTunes Match tab it tells me that I have 10,000 songs in iCloud waiting for me.
How do I get my songs???????

This sounds like an issue of the local iTunes client getting confused about the location and status of the library.
To use iTunes with all Song files on an external disk is straightforward if you have instructed it to find the Song files in that location.
A good route would be to connect the external hard drive such that iTunes client can see all your Song files as normal - check that you can both play your Songs and complete an Update iTunes Match.
Assuming all is well at this point you can instruct the iTunes client to delete all Songs keeping files and not requesting iCloud deletion. At this stage all Songs should appear with a working download indicator against them.
If you now switch off iTunes Match. Restart the iTunes client and create a new blank local library store on your computers internal disk, then switch on iTunes Match - all Songs will now appear. You can complete a test download, it will simply store to your new library location. From here you have the state you wished, all Songs accessible from the iCloud - with the ability to download should you choose.

Edited template in Dreamweaver, once uploaded...another story!

I purchased a template and began to edit it in Dreamweaver 8. It looked great until I uploaded it. Some of the background doesn't show, as well as certain icons and logos. Everything has been uploaded using Yahoo! Webhosting. I uploaded the layout.css and style.css files and still no go. Alright, I created a js folder and woo hooo. The other images that were actually there I moved to the images folder...did not have to do that with my previous template, just upload and go. I have to admit that I googled absolute and relative links and I see the difference. I guess I've been "linking" like that for so long, I wouldn't know otherwise. It seems to be something I would do once I get my site nearly completed. Thanks so much to Gary and bregent! I guess I can mark this answered.
