Pixellated display and output

Hi there,
As of yesterday, images are opening at 50% the size they appear in preview for example and on the web. Unlike some other threads I've seen on this, they are also outputting with pixelatted low quality text...
If you look really closely at the logo in the following site, the text is not smooth and crisp as the live text in the navigation - it is slightly pixellated and the quality is definitely compromised esp when viewed on the mac screen as opposed to the monitor. Anti-aliasing is on btw... Virgo Fidelis
Another strange thing: when I move the file between my macbook pro to my samsung monitor in a 2 monitor set-up, the zoom auto changes to 50% on the samsung...
What is going on?

1. If you attempt to write data to the analog output buffer before there is sufficient space available in the buffer, AO Write.vi will wait until space is available. At that time, it will write the data to the buffer.
2. Synchronizing the file reading and the analog output does not occur in a strict sense. New data is read from file and written to the analog output buffer as the previous data is output.
3. To obtain information concerning a DAQ device, you should use Get DAQ Device Information.vi. It is available in the following location:
Functions >> NI Measurements >> Data Acquisition >> Calibration and Configuration

I attached a bmp that illustrates how to read and write simultaneously from one file. The VI is using notifiers (under the advanced palette) to synchronize reader and writer loops.
Note that the Wait function in the reader loop is irrelevant because the Wait on Notifier function blocks until data is available. This forces reader to be at least as slow as writer.

Best way to configure Photoshop workflow settings when source photos are shot in AdobeRGB, edited using a wide gamut display, and output to sRGB?

Being able to quickly produce finished photos is of importance with the majority of my photography work. Therefore I shoot, process, and deliver JPEG files. For this time sensitive workflow there is no benefit to my clients by my shooting RAW. I do want to be able to accommodate any possible future uses of the photos, so I shoot using the Adobe RGB color space. The output for my clients are JPEG images for use on the Web, therefore sRGB. I currently used a wide gamut display (NEC PA302W) with a 24-bit graphics card. (I plan on upgrading to a 30-bit card sometime in the future.)
I've noticed that in Internet Explorer the reds in my finished photos are overly intense on my display. My photos look fine in other web browsers on my display. This situation has me concerned as I do not know exactly why it is happening since my photos have the sRBG color profile embedded and IE supports embedded color profiles. If anything, I would think the reds would be overly intense in other applications that do not support embedded color profiles.
Please let me know if my workflow can be improved, outside of shooting RAW and using a 30-bit display:
Shoot JPEG photos in Adobe RBG color space
Edit photos in Photoshop using wide gamut display, 24-bit
Color Settings: Monitor Color (Monitor RGB - PA302W, calibrated)
Save for Web, JPEG, Embed Color Profile, Convert to sRGB
While working in Photoshop the reds appear fine. When saving for the Web and previewing 'Monitor Color' the reds are intense, when previewing 'Internet Standard RGB (No Color Management)' the reds appear fine. The final saved images look fine with the exception of when displayed in IE, which supports embedded color profiles- Color Management.

You're rapidly making a mess out of this. Stop, sit back, and stop thinking there's a "problem" to "fix". There isn't - you just need to use software that is color managed. That disqualifies IE right off. Stop using it, throw it away. It's useless with wide gamut displays. Use Firefox, which has proper color management.
OK. Save For Web in sRGB, embed profile. So far so good. But:
Don't ! set your working space to Monitor Color!. That turns off display color management which is the very last thing you want with a wide gamut monitor. You could sort of get away with that with a standard gamut monitor, because it's not all that different from sRGB anyway. So you wouldn't notice the difference (but it's there). The fact that your Adobe RGB files look right in Photoshop is purely coincidental. Any other profile will look wrong.
With a wide gamut display you absolutely and unconditionally need a fully color managed pipeline. That means 1. an embedded document profile, 2. a valid display profile (Spectraview or other calibrator), and 3. an application that reads both profiles and does the conversion from one to the other as the image is sent to the display.
See, it's not just the document profile. That's half of it. The other half is the display profile. IE doesn't use the display profile, instead substituting sRGB. And that's very wrong with that monitor. Firefox is fully color managed if there is an embedded document profile. But it can be configured to color manage even if the image is untagged (and a lot of material on the web is untagged). It does this by assigning sRGB to the image.
To configure this - and you really need that with a wide gamut monitor - type "about:config" without the quotes in the address bar and hit reload. Scroll down to gfx.color_management.mode, and change it from 2 to 1. Relaunch. All web material will now appear correctly regardless.

PWM Display and Output to DAQ

Hi All,
I am a newbie to LabVIEW and I don't know much about it. Anyways I am trying to generate a PWM signal in order to control a motor, subsequently, I have downloaded the examples of PWM on http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2991. So how can I display the PWM signal on a chart ? (I am getting some weird conversion error when I directly connect it to DAQmx Start Task.vi or DAQmx Is Task Done.vi). What kind of conversion do I have to do ?
Moreover, I want to pass this PWM signal via DAQ to the motor, how can I do this ? (I am using 6025 DAQ.). A Vi showing the connections will be highly appreciated.

Hi Dan916,
The PWM signal that you are generating is being created in the hardware so in order to display it on a graph you would need to measure that signal through an input. You could use an example from the Example Finder in order to read it back in. The use the Example FInder go to Help>>Find Examples from LabVIEW.
As far as connecting your signal to your motor, you are going to need to connect the signal from your counter output. The pinout you are looking for can be found on the last page of the linked specifications manual. You would be looking to use Ctr 0 Out or Ctr 1 Out depending on the counter you are using in your application.

Target Group Member List Display and Output to Excel

Hi all,
I am using CRM 2007. On the Web Client I want to output to excel a target group with 7000 accounts. I have 2 users. One User when the target group is selected can see all the details of all 7000 in the target group members list and when exported to excel all 7000 accounts are listed in the excel file.
With the second user when the target group is selected only the details of 100 accounts are visible in the target group members list and when exported to excel only 100 of the accounts are output.
The 2 users have the same roles and parameters and the personalize icon next to the excel export button also have the same settings.
Does anyone know where the setting is that will allow the second user to output all 7000 on the list?
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jonathan,
Open a Profile Set with user2.
Push button "Graphical Modeler".
When the modeler is loaded , Press button "Settings".
On the upcoming popup, you can change the number of members that are loaded to the Target Group Member list in the WebUI in the field "Number of Members Displayed".
Most probably, this field is empty for your second user, so the default of 100 is used.
Note that a maximum of 9999 members can be loaded to the list in the UI. For bigger Target Groups, you must export the list to the application server using the "Export to File" button on the Target Group WebUI page.

Look, you can build an HD DVD with an SD movie, just as you can build an SD DVD with an HD movie. This is not a bug, it is most likely user error. Apple will not be addressing it.
Just start over, and ensure you are building an SD DVD by bringing up the inspector for the disc (click on the background in the Graphical tab).
Make sure SD DVD is selected:
(If you do the same thing on your ill fated project, you'll see that HD DVD is selected)
Build your DVD and you'll be fine.

P.S. You will need to google HD DVD and Blu-Ray if you want to understand the difference between the formats. The reason that DVDSP included HD DVD was that its format was similar to SD DVD's. Blu-Ray is something else entirely.

Looks like your problem lies by the file associations, i.e. extension of your jsp file (.JSP) is associated in your operating system with DreamWeaver rather than with IE. If you are using Windows you should be able to change file associations, so that all web pages including JSP will be opened in your browser.

Retina display and CS6 InDesign pixelation

Has there been no software update for InDesign CS6 that supports Retina display? I have recently upgraded my Macbook to a retina display and InDesign icons and text appears pixelated. It's really annoying! Is there any way to fix this? Is the fix purchase CC?

Well yes, it was possible by rewriting the program. That became CC. It's a valid business decision to make that kind of change a new version rather than give away thousands of hours of work for free. The development team needs to be paid, and the stockholders expect some return on their investment. Do you do any work that gets a periodic revision? Do you charge the client for that revision, or do you just give them the new versions year after year? Should Ford or Chevy retrofit your car with batteries and a new engine to be a hybrid vehicle for free?

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro, 8 gb ram with a Dell 27" display and a 42" LG TV. I am thinking about upgrading the stock ATI Radeon 2600 graphics card for better resolution, preferring 2 dvi outputs. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best card?

Role and User level Risk Analysis is not displaying any output or report.

I have a problem when I run risk analysis, both in foreground and background. The issue is that no report is displayed and I have followed all the instructions carefully.
I have done the following:
Maintained Access Risk table to contain functions and assigned it to a rule set.
The functions contains actions and permissions that are explicitly assigned to my ERP connector in the system field in both action and permission tabs.
I have run the sync job to update the roles in the GRC server from the ERP backend. I am surprise that no report is displayed as I have a test role that I am sure has conflict as per my function definition.
Please advice me if there is something I am missing.

It shows "Table does not contain any data".

1080P content and output

I am looking for sources of 1080P content (shorts, trailers, etc) and a way to output from a Mac(G5 dual) to a 1080i/p rear or front projection TV for demo purposes. This can be done with 1080p content available for windows media but I want to use Mac environment.

I think that the 1080i limitation would be caused by the display, and not the DVI interface, as DVI is a digital interface commonly used with LCD computer monitors, which do not use an interlaced signal. So, when you watch 1080p content on a 30" Cinema Display, you are seeing it at true 1080p over the DVI connection.
I would suggest calling some major TV manufacturers and asking them if they have any models which accept and natively display a 1080p signal, and from which source.
Of course you also have the option of using any widescreen LCD monitor with DVI input, with the optimal resolution being 1920x1080, for a pixel-per-pixel fullscreen display of the HD content.

Weird crashes - deformed pixelated display flickering...

I bought a late 2008 unibody macbook pro (2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo, 4 GB MHz DDR3), and loaded up on it a time machine restore of my old macbook pro.
I experience a weird problem I couldn't find info about anywhere: I have sudden crashes just on a regular activity. when it happens, the display distorts and flickers and the computer goes totally unresponsive (not even caps lock). I get a kind of small pixelated deformations of the display, and the sound output locks down looping the last second.
As far as I understand, the console shows no trace of it...
here's an example of a crash right after the computer woke up from sleep. and the log after I powered it up again:

While doing a complete erase and install might work in most cases it isn't necessary. Remember we're not talking about a Windows system here.
