I have a canon pixma ip4300 ij printer with software to print cd/dvd labels ,i origonaly had it connected to a mac with the old MAC  OSX processor, since i have changed to a mac with MOUNTAIN LION the new intel processor i cannot print the cd labels, i have downloaded software update for the printer but it still reverts back to the old software , can anyone help  thank you   Allan R

So do you have any problems using the iP4300 to print from other applications on 10.8? Just trying to get an idea of your current setup.
I ask because Easy PhotoPrint (EPP) will use your existing printer - there is no need to create a new printer. So when you open the software and select to make a Disc Label, when you get to Step 4 -  Print Settings, the software looks at your existing printer setup to check that you have a printer that will support CD/DVD printing (not all models of Canon inkjet support this).
So with regards to the problem connecting to the iP4300, is the software failing to locate a supporting printer? Can you give me a bit more info as to what is happening when you attempt to print a CD/DVD from EPP?

  • MY PIXMA iP4000 not printing--paper feeds and steps through but only blank pages

The printer sounds like it is printing----you can hear the print head moving---but nothing prints....
pages are completely blank. Reseated the connections, no effect. Took out all the cartridges, reseated
them, no effect. Still only prints blank pages. Connected it to another computer, same---only blank
pages...nothing, not even a test page or nozzle page will print. Any ideas? Was working fine
on Monday when I went out of town until Friday. When I tried to print on Saturday morning, only
blanks pages. Just spent a small fortune on ink for the printer and would hate to trash the
printer, but can't justify spending more than the price of a new one to have the old one fixed.
PS The printer is connected to my USB port, as it was for the past several years when it worked
    fine. Totally stumped/

Thanks, Michael, however, I was on the phone with Canon for some time, and could not get the printer to do anything even off line. Was told the iP4000 is over 8 years old and there are no parts available to repair it.
So I have already replaced the printer with an iP2702 that was on sale at a nearby
mass merchandise store. I was intending to replace the iP4000 eventually anyway, as the red was
not printing as vividly as it once did...more like a purple. Thought at first it was because I was using
3rd party ink, but even after replacing the magenta cartridge with "genuine Canon", the red was still
not as vivid as when it was new.
Unfortunately,as you know,  the iP2702  got uses a more expensive combined color cartrdige
rather than the separate ones in the iP4000.
I am suspecting the reported failure of my iP4000 to print may be due to the third party cartridges
which I was told do not contain a "chip" as do Canon cartrdiges and that may signal to the printer
     to suppress printing.
Strange, as I have been using 3rd party cartridges for some time prevbiously without any problem.

  • Pixma mg3200 not printing from mac

I have recently started having troble printing from my Pixma mg3200. I have a MacBook Air, it has worked in the past. It is set up for wireless.
This is the message I get. Support Code : 300 The printer does not respond. Make sure that the printer is plugged in, powered-on, and properly connected to your computer.
Everything is on and connected. HELP.........

    Hello donnadap57,
Try deleting then re-adding the printer driver.  After confirming that the cable is connected and the printer is powered on, perform the following:
     1.  In the Apple menu, open System Preferences.
     2.  Open Print and Scan.
     3.  To add the printer, click the Plus (+) sign.
     4.  Select the printer to add, then click 'Add'.
     5.  The printer is added.
After the printer driver has been re-added, see if you are able to print.

  • Canon PIXMA e510 not printing

So far I've installed (and enabled) every cups related package in the official repo.
There were no drivers in the AUR for this printer, so I downloaded the rpm here and installed the cnijfilter-common-3.80 and cnijfilter-e510series-3.80 rpms in there using a PKGBUILD.
The printer is detected fine and the driver shows up in KDE's printer interface but I can't print to it. Every print job goes from 'Sending data to printer' to 'Idle' within a second or so. The print queue shows everything in 'Completed jobs' with 0 pages present.
I checked dmesg and it shows the following every time the printer is connected:
    [ 217.086424] usblp0: removed
    [ 223.045054] usblp 8-1:1.1: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 3 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04A9 pid 0x1761
Any idea about what I should do next?

Use the web interface to cups rather than KDE's print management. Enable debugging and examine the error console/log after trying to print with it enabled. Check if your printer is listed in the openprinting database of printers and, if so, see how well it is supported and which driver is recommended.

  • Canon Pixma MG6150 not printing

I am very happy with Arch Linux, everything works, thanks to the clear wiki's!
But printing is a problem with my Canon MG6150. Cups is installed and works: i can select the printer
The drivers (cnijfilter-mg6100 3.40-4 and scangearmp-mg6100 1.60-3 from AUR) seems to work: I see the message (in KDE printer applet) 'Job completed. But no print.
    edit: who can help me?

Try installing libpng12 from AUR.  Canon software requires libpng version 12.

  • Just installed the latest Canon printer software update (V 3.2) from the App store. Canon Pixma MX850 will not print. Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Printing via Airport.

Just installed the latest Canon printer software update (V 3.2) suggested by the App store in effort to get printer working after OS update. Canon Pixma MX850 will not print. Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Attempting to print via Airport from a MacBook Pro. Also from a Mac Pro via ethernet. Both worked before updating to Yosemite. Canon Pro 9000 Mk 2 works via USB. Tried installing driver 10.84 from OS 10.9 as suggested by PAHU; no luck.

The "stopped at server - no pages found" message would suggest an image with the print file that is created by the printer driver on the MacBook Pro. But if the Mac Pro is getting the same message then that is unusual.
To rule out a couple of causes I would try connecting the MacBook Pro directly to the MX850 by USB cable. This action should result in a new printer for the USB connection being created automatically. If not then you may need to manually create it as you won't be able to use the existing printer that exists for the network connection. With the new printer created see if this will let you print without error.
If this USB connected printer also fails with the same message then try a reset of the printing system. Note that this action will also remove the Pro 9000 from Printers & Scanners so you will have to add it and the MX850 again.

  • PIXMA MP 530 will not print with win7 64 PC

My PIXMA MP 530 is connected via usb through a Linksys EA 6500 usb router. There are two PC's connected wired in this network. One uses Windows 7 32 bit and the other uses Windows 7 64bit. Cisco VUSB software is used to connect the two PCs to the printer. The Windows 7 32bit PC connects and prints fine but the 64bit PC says it is connected but will not print. I have updated the drivers and no luck. I have talked with Cisco tech service but couldnt resolve my problem and said I would need to buy a new printer. The 64bit PC does print when shared through the 32bit PC. Can this be fixed or go with a new printer?

    Hi VlcV50,
If Linksys is saying the only way to fix the issue is to upgrade the printer, I would have to agree with them.  The PIXMA MP530 doesn't have it own built in networking capabilities, so in your case it's relying on the VUSB software from Linksys to do the networking job.  It sounds like either the VUSB software isn't compatible with the 64 bit version of Windows 7, or there is a limitation in their software in the 64 bit version that doesn't exist in the 32 bit version that is preventing the software from sending the printer information across the network.
Fortunately the vast majority of our current models have built in networking support so you can connect any of them to the router either via Ethernet or via WiFi if the printer doesn't have an ethernet connection or you prefer to use it wirelessly to save on cabling.

  • My Dell Inspiron 1525 is USB connected to my Canon Pixma MX 392 printer, but is "not detecting".

My Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop is USB connected to my Canon Pixma MX392 multifunction printer. Though the
printer is functioning properly in all respects, a message is showing that my laptop "cannot detect" the printer.
At the same time I'm receiving a message (wizard?) "Found New Hardware - Windows Needs to Install Driver
Software for Your Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller". My Printer folder shows my Canon is "ready",
and the Port is shown as "USB..Virtual printer port for Canon MX390 series Printer". My Device Manager
folder lists the Canon printer and fax under "Printers", and under "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllers"
    are listed: MX390 series (1 time); Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller (7 times); Unknown device (7 times);
USB Printing Support (2 times). I've tried unistalling and re- installing everything associated with the printer,
but get the same results. As I've stated the printer is functioning fine, but the "incessant" appearing of the
message, "Found New Hardware, etc." is extremely annoying. When I follow the "wizard's" instructions to,
"locate and install driver software (recommended)", I'm finally told to" insert the disc that came with your Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller". I don't have any discs that came with either the printer or laptop. Is
anyone able to make any sense of this...and, hopefully, offer help in getting rid of the "Found New Hardware"
    message. Many thanks!

I'm not sure the error is related to your printer.

  • PIXMA iP4300 won't print black.

PIXMA iP4300 won't print black. New ink, nozzles cleaned, buffers cleared. Help?

Hi rrrb, Please make sure that the installed ink tanks are correct and full of ink. The correct order is: CLI-8Bk Black
    PGI-5Bk Black
    CLI-8Y Yellow
    CLI-8M Magenta
CLI-8C Cyan Next, a test of the printer should be performed. The Nozzle Check pattern shows if each print head nozzle is operating properly. Please perform the following steps to print a Nozzle Check pattern: 1. Turn the printer on and make sure paper is loaded into the sheet feeder. 2. On your printer, press and hold the RESUME button until the printer light blinks twice. When you release the button, the Nozzle Check pattern will be printed. 3. After the Nozzle Check pattern is printed, compare the results to this example:  If any colors are missing or if any horizontal lines appear in the color bars, perform the print head cleaning procedure.  To perform a print head cleaning with the printer, please follow these instructions: 1. On your printer, press and hold the RESUME button until the printer light flashes one time. 2. When you release the RESUME button, the POWER light starts flashing and all colors will be cleaned. This will continue for about 30 seconds. 3. Wait for the light to stop flashing before you resume normal operation. Once you have completed two cleanings, please perform another Nozzle Test. If colors are still missing, please contact our support group using the following link:

  • Canon pixma mx850 printer not reading my computer - will not print

canon pixma mx850 printer not reading my computer - will not print
I unplugged the cord that went from the printer to the computer to another canon printer to see if I could remediate a problem with a wireless printer.
When I plugged the computer cord back into the usual computer, the printer is no longer talking to the computer even though I have gone in and changed back the settings, and it has been the default printer - that was not changed.
I've tried all the trouble-shooting suggestions to no avail.

    Hi scheideckerj,
Reinstalling the latest drivers for the printer from the Canon USA website may resolve the issue you are experiencing.   Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MX850.  Once on the download page, please do the following:
    1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
    2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click on the MP DRIVERS file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once the file is downloaded, please double-click on it to reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • PIXMA MX860, OS X 10.9.4, OS X 10.10. Printer not printing black

Printer will print black when I print a test page from the printer, but will not print black when I print a selection from either my MacBook (OS X 10.10 Yosemite) or my iMac (OS X 10.9.4 Mavericks).  What gives?
I did print a test page from the Canon Utility on my MacBook, and it prints black.  Still wondering.

    Hi trexnb,
First, please make sure that the installed ink tanks are correct and full of ink.  The correct order is:

    CLI-221M
    CLI-221Y
    PGI-220BK
    CLI-221C
Next, please print the nozzle check pattern to determine whether the ink is ejecting properly from the print head. To do this, please follow these steps:
     1.  Make sure that the machine is turned on, then load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder or the Cassette.
     2.  Open the Paper Output Tray and then open the Output Tray Extension.
     3.  Press the Paper Feed Switch to select the paper source where you have loaded paper.
     4.  To print the nozzle check pattern:

4-2.  Select Maintenance, then press the OK button.  The Maintenance screen is displayed.
4-3.  Select Nozzle check pattern and then press the OK button.  The pattern print confirmation screen is displayed.
4-4.  Select Yes and then press the OK button.
The nozzle check pattern is printed and the pattern confirmation screens are displayed alternately.
Examine the nozzle check pattern (example is at bottom of post), and perform cleaning if necessary.
Please perform the following steps to perform a Deep Cleaning:
     1.  Press the MENU button.
     2.  Select Maintenance then press the OK button.
     3.  Press <OK> to select Maintenance.
     4.  Select Deep Cleaning and press OK.

  • Problems with Canon Pixma iP4300

I just purchased a new Canon Pixma iP4300 printer and can't find it in Printer Setup Utility to add as a new printer.
When I connect it directly to my MacBook Pro (Core Duo) it is invisible. I have downloaded the latest drivers available from Canon. Given the point below I am fairly certain it is not a problem with my USB cable either because the printer is recognised when I plug my USB printer cable into the Airport Express.
Confusingly, I can connect to it through my Airport Express base-station using Bonjour. A problem with this connection is that it does not allow me to use the utilities - so, for example, I can't align the print heads - or use any of the other software that came with the printer because it doesn't recognise the printer over the wireless network.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

And as soon as I posted this I found a spare USB cable and tried that... and it worked.
I guess the USB cable connects properly with the Airport Express and not with my MacBook Pro. Curious. Very curious.
