Pixma IP4950 B200 Error

I have a Pixma IP4950 B200 error.
I printed 10 6x4 pictures then tried to print a 'printable' CD when I got the error along with 6 flashing amber lights,  on some occasions it flashed 10 ambers alternatively with the green light..
I'm confused:
The 6 flashes indicate inner door opened and the 10 amber and greens indicated the front tray out of position, whilst on the internet some reports said it was the print head.
Now then, I stripped the printer down, first looking for debris or jammed objects and non was found, I do keep the printer covered when not in use. So I proceeded and checked the inner door micro switch, read zero Ohms when activated, so something telling me 'porkies'.
This error can be instigated by just doing a roller or back plate clean and can be reset to a steady green by powering off, opening the top cover and powering back on then just as the heads move across close the cover and all is well.
As anyone any ideas on this issue? Thanks.
Dave

  • Pixma mp990 b200 error code

I am getting the B200 Error message which states to unplug the printer and contact the service center.  My first call to the center resulted in the advice of needing a new printhead and it would be better to buy a new printer.  This one is only 25 months old!  I cleaned the printhead per instructions I found online, and replaced it, but so far I still get the error coude.  I can get a new printhead for around $70-$75 on ebay.  Would this solve the problem, or do I need to reset the CPU.  So far an internet search has not produced information on resetting the CPU.  I did send off an information request to the service center via their email form, but have not heard back in over 24 hours!  Any ideas?

I fixed this b200 error by searching this forum and following a few steps mentioned.
    1) Tried unplugging the printer for 10 minutes.... Powered on and same error.
***Note had to manually move printhead and cartriges over to the left to remove cartriges and printhead****
    2) Removed all ink cartriges and carefully put them in separate plastic bags (I didn't have the orange storage clips to seal the base)
    3) Watched youtube video on how to remove printhead for the MP990
    4) Watched youtube video on running low pressure warm water under the sink to clean printhead. I washed resevoir first until clear and no more ink visible, then turned upside down and washed underneath printhead until clear, then repeated washing top and bottom about 8-9 times until all ink was gone and ran clear. Took about 5 minutes and I was very patient.
    5) Carefully dried printhead with papertowels making sure all electrical contacts were completly dry.
    6) Reinstalled printhead and all cartriges
    7) Plugged printer back in and turned on and still got the B200 error
    8) The B200 error code reset fix: Powered the printer off and then back on and while powering back on push the Home Button and Power Button at the same time like 10-15 times repeatedly. Printer then cycles and starts up normally.
    9) I was having clogged jets and doing cleaning cycles periodically and was not able to clear the clogged jets. After washing the printhead I finally have a perfect running printer again. I had no idea you could wash the printhead. This would have saved me a lot of money in ink over the years. Now it's been 2 weeks and just ran another nozzle check and it's still perfect. Thank goodness I didn't want to buy another printer right now and probably would not purchase a new head for that price.
BTW. The only reason I can deal with this printer and it's crazy way of wasting so much in in cleaning cycles is that I have been using www.ldproducts.com ink for over 3 years on this printer and their quality and price is great. Also after every cleaning cycle you should always do a nozzle check and don't ever do more than 2 deep cleaning cycles in a row before printing. You could ruin your printhead if you cycle it too much. Now that I know about washing the printhead I will probably never do another deep cleaning again. It never works anyway.
    Hope this helps!

  • PIXMA MX922 with error code B200

I am about ready to throw this printer in the trash. First off everytime I want to print to it over WiFi I have to reset my router for my computers to be able to print. Now this error code (B200) comes up and the manual says to call support. Can a tech or someone from Canon help here?

    Hi Frustrated83,
Disabling the Wireless LAN DRX and iPv6 settings on the printer may resolve the wireless issue you are experiencing.  To do this, please follow the steps located at the link below:

    Hi ernja.
The B200 error is a generic internal error code and could mean one of many things.  Based on this, your PIXMA MX850 would require service.  It is recommended that you contact live technical support . There is NO charge for this call.

  • How to prevent print head clog up and B200 Error ?

I just went through a horrid time getting rid of a B200 error due to the printer head clog up.  I had to soak the head for at least one hour in a solution of warm water  and a bit of oxy clean to get the printer to work again. I almost gave up and was at the point of buying a new printer .
My question is :  How to prevent this from happening again especially during 2 to 3 week vacations when the printer is turned off?
    Tks

    Hi sportflyer,
There isn't a way to prevent a B200 error.  If you do encounter the error again, it is recommended that you contact live technical support . There is NO charge for this call.  Please dial 1-866-261-9362, Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. ET (excluding holidays).

  • Canon MX870 B200 error, how to use scan only?

I have Canon MX870 which I only use it for scan. When I'm turning the printer on at the booting process it give me B200 error and STOP to work completely.I have to open and close cartridge door couple times at the startup to can skip the B200 error and be able to use the scanner.I know the problem is related to cartridge or printhead or something about printing. I only use this machine for scanning and i don't need to print at all. How I can disable or disconnect the printing component on this machine to be able to use just the scanner?
or at least disable the printer diagnostic at the start up?

Hi g6381646, We do not have instructions for disabling the printer diagnostic at startup or disconnecting the printing component of the printer; the printer will require servicing to resolve the error.  Please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page to obtain your servicing options.

  • I have a B200 error message on my Canon MP560. I tried taking out the ink cartriges etc. to no avail

I have a B200 error message on my Canon MP560. I followed the posting that said to take the ink cartriges out, lift the grey bar and remove the printer board. I did that, replaced it after a few minutes, replaced the cartriges, turned the printer off and unplugged it. After waiting well over 10 minutes, I plugged it back in and when it was turned it on, the same message came up.
    Now what?
    Thanks,
    Jimmoclips

I'm glad I was able to help.  I kind of wish mine hadn't worked because I ended up being one of the "lucky" individuals where my phone didn't restore from the backup and I lost all of my contacts, calendar appts, notes, etc.  It took me an extra 2 hrs last night to rebuild the next month worth of appts and try to rebuild my contact list from my yahoo contacts.  Oh well.  I will be getting an android at my next upgrade.  I'm tired of all of the BS that comes with owning an iPhone.

  • PiXMA MP250 scan error 5,202,54. Prints and copy so scanner works. Has software problem.

PiXMA MP250 scan error  5,202,54.  Prints and copy so scanner works.  Has software problem.  Need a fix.

    Hi Horseheadjdj,
If you have any antivirus or firewall programs on your computer, please temporarily disable them and then try to launch MP Navigator again.  Sometimes these programs can block the scanning process of the printer. If you still have difficulty opening MP Navigator, we can remove a file/icon on your computer named "My Websites on MSN" to see if this will resolve the issue. To do this, please follow these steps:
    1. Click 'Start' and then 'Computer'.
    2. On the left-hand pane, click the down arrow beside Local Disk (C).
    3. Click the down arrow beside Users to open the folder.
    4. Click the down arrow beside your username (for example Joe).
    5. Click the down arrow beside the AppData (Application Data) folder.
    6. Click the down arrow beside Roaming.
    7. Click the down arrow beside Microsoft.
    8. Click the down arrow beside the Windows folder.
    9. Click the down arrow beside Network Shortcuts folder.
    10. Locate an icon named My Web Sites on MSN.
    11. Right-click on My Web Sites on MSN and select 'Delete'.
After performing this process, attempt to scan. If you still receive the same error after removing the file, or if the file does not exist, we can try to temporarily remove files from a folder called TWAIN 32 that may be causing a conflict with the MP Navigator program to try and resolve the issue. To do this, please follow these steps:
    1. Go to Computer / My Computer and locate the C: drive, then double-click on it to open.
    2. Locate the WINDOWS folder, then double-click to open it.
    3. Locate the TWAIN_32 folder, then double-click to open it.
    4. Inside of the TWAIN_32 folder, you will see a folder for your PIXMA MP250 printer as well as a WIATWAIN.DS file. If there are other files in that folder, you will want to move them to another location, preferably your Desktop by doing the following:
4-1. Click on each of the other items in the folder other than the the WIATWAIN.DS file and PIXMA MP250 folder to select them. You will want to hold the the CTRL key on your keyboard while selecting each of the items until all of the items except for the two referenced above are selected. Please be sure to leave the WIATWAIN.DS file and PIXMA MP250 folder inside of the TWAIN_32 folder.
4-2. With all of the items you want to move selected, please go to the EDIT menu and select the CUT option.
4-3. Go to your Desktop (main window that comes up when you start Windows with all of the icons on it) and right-click your mouse in any blank area, then choose the PASTE option. The items you selected from the TWAIN_32 folder should appear on the Desktop.
    5. Try to launch and scan using MP Navigator again.

    Hi kbishop,
To try and resolve the issue, please remove the power cord from the back of the printer and leave it out for at least 10  minutes, then plug it back in and turn it back on.  If the error persists, the printer will require servicing to resolve the issue.

  • My Pixma MX470 shows error check in 1686 Col. How do we fix this?

My Pixma MX470 show error-Check Ink 1686 Col.
We have checked both the color and the black ink.  It still will not fax or print.
    Please help.
    Wanda

    Hi wandasf,
The 1686 error indicates that your color ink cartridge may have run out of ink.  If you would like to continue printing or faxing until you are able to replace the ink cartridge in the unit, you can disable the ink level detection function of the printer by pressing and holding down the STOP/RESET button the printer for at least 5 seconds, then releasing it.  Once the ink cartridge is replaced with a Canon genuine ink cartridge, the ink level detection function of the printer will be re-enabled.
    Hope this helps!

  • Canon MX850 printer and Isolation of B200 error

Hi, I have a B200 error and I am attempting to isolate whether the issue is the logic board or the printhead for an MX850.
The following parameters apply when switching the printer on at the top panel on/off switch:
    (i)                 B200 error appears;
(ii)               If I open the scanner bed with the power off and physically remove the printhead and switch printer on with the cradle lock handle down and lower the scanner bed, I do not receive the B200 error.
Question: Does this establish the fault lies with the printhead or could it still be the logic board?
That is, with the printhead removed, if the logic board is faulty will this register the B200 error?
A related question is what is the standard technical procedure for isolating the printhead as the faulty mechanism?
    With thanks, Tim

Throw it away as fast as you can.  I've had one for too long.  I received a 5100 error the first day I had it (new, not refurbished) and Canon advised me to take it to an authorized repair center which I did.  Two weeks later, it happened again.  This center is 20 miles away.  It cost me more in gas than this piece of junk is worth.  Get ready.... when it says its out of ink you will never be able to fax or scan.  It will hold you hostage.  Thanks Canon.

My Pixma MG5420 is on, bluetooth activated. My HP laptop recognizes the printer when in Control Panel-->Hardware & Sound-->Devices and Printer-->Add a Device (only printer in the entire office), but when I hit next, it immediately pops up with error code 0x80070005. Says contact device manufacturer for assistance. Pls. help.
NOTE: I AM noticing it comes up as an MG5400 instead of the 5420. There are no 5400's in the office at all.

    Hi AMPP,
The PIXMA MG5420 does not have bluetooth capability; it can only be connected via USB cable or wirelessly over a network.
