Pixma MG2520 error message when trying to scan

Every time I try to scan a picture with my Pixma MG2520 it gives me the error message "You do not have the required privileges to access the specified folder. Code:9,244,3" It was working fine when I first bought it 10 days ago and I scanned about 700 pictures. Now this error code keeps coming up every time that I click on "Photo Scan". I am using Windows 8.1 on an Asus laptop. When this code came up last time I just took the printer cartridges out and put them back in and it worked fine, but this time that did not work. I do not use my printer for printing, I only use it for scanning. What can I do??

Hi xloriricex, Please try scanning and then saving your images to a different folder. Does the error persist?

I see by your post that you are getting the error "secure connection to SMTP server could not be established" when trying to scan to email or fax. I can help you with this.
I have provided a document to check your scan settings. You might have to run the wizard again.
How to Scan: From the Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a PDF, and to a Network Folder).
Click on Scan to email.
This document is for Cannot Send or Receive Faxes to go through to resolve the fax issue.
What email provider and email program are you using?

Are you using the USB cord or wireless? IF you can use USB then be sure to connect it.
So, did you try scan from the computer to see if it works?
I have always found it better to scan from the computer than the printer itself.
Do you have the full feature driver/software installed for Window 8? If so was it from the CD or the download from the HP support site. I would first make sure I have this updated. Driver downloads here.
Then go to this trouble shooting page and scroll down to Solution Two-Step Two and look for “Scan to…setup” and follow the instructions.
If it’s still not working, try this next:
Do you have multiple instances of that printer showing up in the HP Solution Center?
If so remove the copies of the printer. Go to this link and choose Windows 7 under HP Solutions Center for info to remove the duplicates from the device manager.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are getting a connection error when trying to use the scan to email feature of your Photosmart 7520 printer.
Please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer. I have included a link to another post that has the steps with screen shots on how to do this. Don’t worry that the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.
If after setting the manual IP address and DNS servers you are still getting the same error message, please call HP’s Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777 if you live in the USA/Canada region. If you live outside the USA/Canada region please click here to find the Technical Support number for your country/region.

Get error message when trying to scan slides

HP Scanjet G4050. Latest drivers. Now up to 10.6.8 and when I try to scan slides or negatives, I get an error message: "Remove any objects from the scanner glass. Load your slides and negatives. Try scanning again."
I have scanned in the past. Is this a problem with 10.6.8? I have heard of printing problems with it. Should I revert to an earlier version of the OS?

Make sure your lid is pushed all the way down. I had the same problem, then I noticed a gap between the lid and base near the hinges. I opened the lid fully, pulled it out (straight up) then pushed it back down firmly. Works fine now. (Using OS X 10.7 with update from HP)

Have an error message when trying to scan photos

I get the following message when scanning using Element 6:
Failed to obtain files from device. The file size exceeds the maximum size allowed. To decrease the file size, ry reducing the image resolution or dimensions.
Do I need to get a higher resolution scanner? I'm trying to scan a picture at 1200 pixel.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

error message when trying to open windows7 via vmwarefusion.;
Unable to open file "/Users/geraldw/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows 7.vmwarevm/Windows 7-000016.vmdk": The system cannot find the file specified.
I've completely uninstalled vmaware fusion. and would like to install a new copy of windows7 plus my vmware fusion3.0 that I have on a disk. I wonder if windows7 is still buried in my mac hard drive somewhere? I can see some windows files on my mac but they appear a gray and can not be accessed. Could there be a problem installing a new copy of windows through boot camp? It seems to do so wouldn't be a clean install as I suspect that windows 7 is still on the drive somewhere. I've tried to follow the path the file I listed above, but nothing comes up. I'm almost certain it was accidentally deleted completely from the hard drive as it was quarantined while using Clam X anti-virus. I'm a relatively new mac user and long time PC user, but a computer genius I am not. I don't want to have to reformat the whole mac machine and lose my current files, etc.
I've uninstalled vmare completely and reinstalled, it, but the problem persists.
Any help?

If they were in your camera roll and on your phone when you last backed up, they would be included in your iCloud backup. If you restored the entire backup you should recover them.

Error Messages when trying to install, uninstall or run iTunes 9

I get the following error message when trying to Install iTunes:
The path C:\DOCUME~1\Frank\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP206.TMP\iTunes.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product iTunes.
I search my entire computer for the file but it's not there.
Then, when I try to uninstall the iTunes and start the install from scratch I get another error:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"
Catch-22, I can't install or uninstall and when I try to run iTunes I get:
"The action is only valid for products that are installed"
Very frustrating but I'm stumped and I don't know how to proceed. Any help would be very much appreciated.

wooooooooo!!! got it working again!! having spent the last 6 hours..no joke six f*cking hours trying to sort it ive finally got iTunes back!!
ok here is what you need to do:
go to the link below and download the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Facility.

once you have downloaded it, install it and run it from the start menu. once its up and running remove everything to do with iTunes (so iTunes itself, quicktime, bonjour......the lot). Dont worry about removing iTunes completely, all the music is still there when it works again trust me!!
ok once you have removed everything restart your computer, im not sure if this is a must but i did it.
next download quicktime from the apple website (go to the 'downloads' tab near the top. download and install quicktime and restart your computer so the new settings are put in to place ( i think it asks you to restart anyway).
go back to the apple website, 'downloads' tab and download iTunes itself. install that bad boy and you will be up and running with all your library intact!
