Pixma MX922 tray hard to open

I've been using this machine for a few months with no problems but now the bottom paper tray is nearly impossible to open. I have to push it in and out, wiggle it, shake it, etc, numerous times before it pops open. I've examined the tray and the printer and nothing looks off. Is there a trick I'm missing?
Thanks.

  • Pixma MX922 drops off network, what ports need to be opened

Pixma MX922 keeps dropping from my wireless network - no matter what I do to configure. Called Canon support and they were not able to resolve issue (offered to replace printer, prefer not to do this - only as last resort).
I attempted ALL the standard items to resolve (re-install printer, drivers, make static IP (NO DHCP leasing - and my DHCP lease time on router is set to max. time of 2 weeks anyway...), made sure of no firewall issues, etc., etc.) but printer keeps doing this. Can ping the ip, etc., so I know that it exists, but UNLESS I POWER the printer OFF / ON - anything I sent to it will just sit in print queue.  Once I power it off / on - all printing is fine  - only for a few hours or next day - until it happens again...
Somewhere on this forum another user stated that he resolved the problem by contacting Canon support and they told him specific Ports on his router that had to be opened in order to fix the issue of the printer dropping off wireless network (* he must have had a better tech than the ones I spoke with...).
Does anyone on this forum know the ports that must be open on the router?  Possibly one or two higher number ip ports such as 1020, or 25466, etc. ?
Thank you to anyone who may know this and provide.

Podcasting is not streaming on content, only downloading. It is basically a blog with an attachment in the RSS feed. Only port 80 (normal web port) needs to be able to go through the firewall.

  • CD-Rom Tray won't open

I Just purchased a Used G3 B/W 300mhz Rev 2 off Ebay. The system came with a Zip and Cdrom drive and 6Gb Harddrive that was formatted with no OS installed. When i power the System on and attempt to open the cdrom tray it wont open, so i figured maybe the drive was damaged. I then attempted to use my old cdrom from my PC and got the same result, However i noticed when i just plug in the Power Ac in the back of the drive it will open and close on both of them. It just stops workin when i plug in the IDE cable
Any thoughts?? this is my 1st Mac so have no idea what's wrong
    G3 Blue White   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

It's not unheard of for the cable to go bad. It often (but not always) will show some hint, such as a crack in the insulation at one end of one of the cable as it enters a connector. It may also have a bent or busted pin. (Some Hard Drives have a missing center pin as a feeble attempt at polarization.)
The CD cable is a 40-wire cable on 40-pin headers, so it is fairly common and easy to get right. They are not too expensive if you shop carefully. Try not to go much longer than the original cable, as data errors may become more frequent at longer lengths. 18 inches is the nominal maximum length.
Be careful with which-way-up with replacement cables, as many are NOT polarized the way your original Mac cables are. Nothing will work right if the cable gets flipped over and plugged in upside down.

  • How do I print directly onto an inkjet printable CD using a Pixma MX922?

How do I print directly onto an inkjet printable CD using a Pixma MX922?  Does Canon have a template for disc labels?

    Hi KSeghorn,
There is a program that comes with the printer called the My Image Garden program that can assist you with printing onto inkjet printable CDs. To do this, please follow these steps:
    1. Start My Image Garden.
    2. Select the image you want to use for a disc label (CD/DVD/BD).
    3. Click the NEW ART button and select the Disc Label (CD/DVD/BD) option. The Select Theme dialog appears.
    4. Set the Theme, Paper Size and Orientation, then click the OK button. The disc label (CD/DVD/BD) appears in the Create or Open Items edit screen.
Note: The layout may not be as expected depending on the photo information or analysis results of the selected images.
    5. Edit/adjust the items on the label using the buttons at the bottom of the window according to your preference, then press the PRINT button. The Print Settings dialog appears.
Note: In the Advanced Settings dialog displayed by clicking Advanced... at the bottom of the screen, you can set the print area. If Advanced... is not displayed, click the right scroll arrow button to display it.
    6. Set the number of copies to print, the printer and paper to use, etc., then click the PRINT button to print.
For information on loading the printable CDs into the printer, please click here.
    Hope this helps!

  • Hp dvd 1040i Disk tray doesn't open half the time

My disk tray is awful to try to open. I press the button, activity light, lights, but the tray doesn't open. Press and hold the button and the same thing happens. I have to go into Windows Explorer (XP sp3) and right click the drive and select "eject" to get the disk tray open. About 10% of the time the button described above does work, 90% not.
I noticed in my device manager the drive is described as "HP DVD WRITER 1040d". Did I get the wrong driver with this drive?  I cannot find any DVD support on the HP site.

I wanted to add that the "pin method" of opening the drive is also requires multiple tries and seems no more successful overall than just pushing the button repeatedly.  I actually have the best luck getting them to open by applying leverage with the tip of a knife as I push the button.

  • Cannot make Canon PIXMA MX922 fax to work with "Windows Fax And Scan" on Windows 7, 8.1

I have Canon PIXMA MX922 multifunction printer installed wireless on iMac OS X Mavericks. It works great but there is no fax drivers for Mac. I have Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 installed on Parallel Desktop. I am able to print and scan on these machines. I can scan using "Windows Fax and Scan" and other programs including My Image Gardens but no luck with faxing. I can send faxes using print function and chosing a Cannon MX920 series fax driver. The problem is to recieve faxes. I've connected MX922 wireless and wired with no help.
Does anyone have the same problem? Any ideas?

    Hi Anton,
    thank you for your advice.
In case this is going to fix itself in 25 hours I will check for the issue then. I'm gonna let you know whether the issues has disappeared.
But it sounds to me a little bit, like you have been expecting that behaviour? Have you? Especially within a Lab it is very confusing to have test clients which appear fully functional 25 hours after the setup has been succeeded.
I've followed your annotation and posted the log files on the Connect portal.
    Thx
    Peter

  • Pixma MX922 - BK appears to be out of alignment. PGBK, C, M, Y all (relatively) perfect.

Hey all, I've actually submitted this to Canon support, but I thought I'd bring up the issue since it's pretty strange and I would think that anyone familiar with it might see this post and go... "Oh hey, I know that!"
So... Pixma MX922... I appear to be having issues with BK (not PGBK). Text is distorted, or "fat" (wider than it should be and fuzzy) and if it's small text you can see what appears to be a duplicate offset, what I believe is the difference between the PGBK and BK... it appears the dye black is out of alignment independently from the colors and PGBK as evidenced from the print head check page.
The solid rectangular bars to the left and right of PGBK are crisp and solid, as is the grid to the right. The bars of black to the left and right of C, M, Y, and BK are distorted, getting fatter to the center of the bar. The actual color samples are all a solid crisp rectangle but the BK pattern is also distended on the sides.
Here's an example of the print check: i.imgur.com/Bt8SYer.jpg
    Steps I've taken:
    cleaned heads (incl. deep cleaning)
    cleaned timing strip
    aligned heads automatically and manually.
    Ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi jurassicfrog,
if performing the alignments, print head cleanings and cleaning of the timing encoder film of the printer did not resolve the error, the printer will require servicing; please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.

  • PIXMA mx922 prints blurry.

Our PIXMA mx922 prints blurry.  I have already cleaned the encoding strip.   When I print a black and white text document. some lines on a printed document are sharp and crisp, while others are faint and blurry.  These crisp and blurry lines alternate all the way down the page.  When I print a mixed color and black text document (such as a screen capture of this current page), the color sections are sharp but the black ink sections are blurry as mentioned previously. The blurry text almost looks like a double image of the letters. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Encoder strip would be the big culprint here.

  • Excel spreadsheet prints incorrectly--lacks grids, some colors--Pixma MX922

I can't print an Excel Spreadsheet correctly to my Canon Pixma MX922. It comes out lacking borders and lacking some of the colors, even though in print preview it looks perfect. I am using Microsoft Excel 2013 and Windows 7. I just reinstalled the printer driver but this didn't help. I CAN print out photos correctly, but if they are part of a spreadsheet, they print lacking colors, too. Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Shari Shaw

Thanks for taking the time to reply, John, but that's not the problem. I have gridlines checked. I have done some further checking and I think it's a print-head issue. I'll try cleaning and deep-cleaning the nozzles...
    Thanks again!

When I try to send an attachment using Word for MAC people have a hard time opening it with a PC. Can I do anything different?

shldr2thewheel already sent a teach-yourself way. Perhaps you could be more specific: any .doc file written in Mac OS is opened with difficulty? what version of Office on mac and what version in windows? any format, e.g. .doc or .rtf? Even a simple rtext of, say, 2-3 pages? or only long docs, e.g. 100 pages or more? what language is used? English or any other West European, Latin based text, or other scripts too? What do you understand by ‘people have a hard time opening it with a PC?’ takes a very long time? or does not open at all? etc. etc.

  • CD tray won't open via keyboard

I recently moved one workstation. The CD/DVD drive tray had been opening fine by using the "open/close" key on the keyboard, now it does not respond, even though it will open (eject) through TOAST. Reads and writes OK.
Have replaced the keyboard… no go!
    Any ideas?

Have replaced PRAM battery and the F12 key doesn't respond either.
Note: I have discovered a problem with leftover files from a third party keyboard (Adesso) Multimedia thing.
Forgot it was once on this station.
kbdwatcher.crash.log and associated files are eating up the system.
    Thanks

  • How do I remove the print head in a PIXMA MX922 printer so I can clean or replace it?

How do I remove the print head in a PIXMA MX922 printer so I can clean or replace it? The printer clean and deep clean features will not provide print quality corrections.

    Hi Happy,
To remove the ink tanks and print head from the printer, please follow the steps located here.  Please note that we do not recommend cleaning the print head using any other methods other than the ones built into the printer, as it may do damage to the printer.  If performing at least one cleaning and two deep cleanings on the printer do not resolve the issue, the printer may require servicing; please call or email us at one of the methods on the Contact Us page to obtain your servicing options.

  • My cd tray will not open

My cd tray will not open the only way I can open it is by using the terminal commands "drutil open" and "drutil close"

Is there a disc in the drive?
Are you saying depressing (for several seconds) the F12 key does not open the drive?
You can add an Eject Item to the Menu Bar
        1.     Open a Finder window  and navigate to /System/Library/Core Services/ Menu Extras.
        2.     Double-click the Eject.menu item  in the Menu Extras folder.
The Eject menu item will be added to your Mac’s menu bar. It will have the eject icon, which is a chevron with a line below it. If you click on the Eject menu item, it will display all of the CD/DVD drives attached to your Mac, and provide the option to ‘Open’ or ‘Close’ each drive, depending on its current state.
     Cheers, Tom
