PL/SQL SSO SDK Sample Application doesn't work!

In the latest document on the SSO SDK (http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/A97329_01/manage.902/a96114.pdf), there is a major programming error in the sample application on page 4-5. There is an invalid EXCEPTION block followed by an invalid ELSE block.
There is absolutely no help from Oracle Support or Metalink on this issue. I am calling upon all Portal Developers frustrated with this very obvious syntax error to pressure Oracle to rewrite this document ASAP. From what I have read, this seems to be a problem since mid-2000. Let's flood Oracle Support with e-mail demanding this issue to be resolved at the highest priority!
I can't believe Oracle would allow this document to be released without being thoroughly proofread!

Bill, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We certainly do our best to avoid documentation inaccuracies. Given the scope of the documentation, unfortuately occationally things slip through and we certainly appreciate it when people take the time to let us know if they find a "doc Bug".
Hopefully this won't happen too often but just in case (refering to the documentation)
If you find any errors or have any other suggestions for improvement, please indicate the title and

  • SSO java sample application problem

    Hi all,
    I am trying to run the SSO java sample application, but am experiencing a problem:
    When I request the papp.jsp page I end up in an infinte loop, caught between papp.jsp and ssosignon.jsp.
    An earlier thread in this forum discussed the same problem, guessing that the cookie handling was the problem. This thread recommended a particlar servlet , ShowCookie, for inspecting the cookies for the current session.
    I have installed this cookie on the server, but don't see anything but one cookie, JSESSIONID.
    At present I am running the jsp sample app on a Tomcat server, while Oracle 9iAS with sso and portal is running on another machine on the LAN.
    The configuration of the SSO sample application is as follows:
    Cut from SSOEnablerJspBean.java:
    // Listener token for this partner application name
    private static String m_listenerToken = "wmli007251:8080";
    // Partner application session cookie name
    private static String m_cookieName = "SSO_PAPP_JSP_ID";
    // Partner application session domain
    private static String m_cookieDomain = "wmli007251:8080/";
    // Partner application session path scope
    private static String m_cookiePath = "/";
    // Host name of the database
    private static String m_dbHostName = "wmsi001370";
    // Port for database
    private static String m_dbPort = "1521";
    // Sehema name
    private static String m_dbSchemaName = "testpartnerapp";
    // Schema password
    private static String m_dbSchemaPasswd = "testpartnerapp";
    // Database SID name
    private static String m_dbSID = "IASDB.WMDATA.DK";
    // Requested URL (User requested page)
    private static String m_requestUrl = "http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/papp.jsp";
    // Cancel URL(Home page for this application which don't require authentication)
    private static String m_cancelUrl = "http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/fejl.html";
    Values specified in the Oracle Portal partner app administration page:
         ID: 1326
         Token: O87JOE971326
         Encryption key: 67854625C8B9BE96
         Logon-URL: http://wmsi001370:7777/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login
         single signoff-URL: http://wmsi001370:7777/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_logout
         Name: testsso
         Start-URL: http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/
         Succes-URL: http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/ssosignon.jsp
         Log off-URL: http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/papplogoff.jsp
    Finally I have specified the cookie version to be v1.0 when running the regapp.sql script. Other parameters for this script are copied from the values specified above.
    Unfortunately the discussion in the earlier thread did not go any further but to recognize the cookieproblem, so I am now looking for help to move further on from here.
    Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

    Pierre - When you work on the sample application, you should test the pages in a separate browser instance. Don't use the Run Page links from the Builder. The sample app has a different authentication scheme from that used in the development environment so it'll work better for you to use a separate development browser from the application testing browser. In the testing browser, to request the page you just modified, login to the application, then change the page ID in the URL. Then put some navigation controls into the application so you can run your page more easily by clicking links from other pages.

  • Data Source - Alias Not Found in SDK Sample Application VIDS

    Hi,
    I am trying to run SDK sample application VIDS.
    In the function, BindDataToForm, I am getting error at line:
    oColumn = oColumns.Item("CardCode")
    oColumn.DataBind.SetBound(True, "@VIDS", "U_CARDCODE")
    The error is: Data Source - Alias Not Found
    I have checked that the user tables and the fields in the user tables are correct.
    What can be the issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi Rajesh,
    Works just fine for me.
    Double check that you've created the userfields. You must press the button create user fields before attempting to use the sample.

  • Oracle Multimedia PL/SQL Web Toolkit Sample Application

    Hi,
    I am trying Oracle Multimedia PL/SQL Web Toolkit Sample Application for Oracle database 11g Release 2, on the client components of the readme file, it says that oracle http server must be installed, and http server is available on the companion CD of Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2), actually I'm using Oracle database 11g, is it because of database version that I cannot find http server component to add using universal installer or because during installation I chose install on my laptop and not a server?
    regards,
    Hassane Cabir

    In apex folder (the downloaded one), there is README.txt under owa which contains information about PL/SQL Web Toolkit and how to upgrade.
    This is the content of this file:
    PL/SQL Web Toolkit 10.1.2.0.6
    Application Express 3.0 requires PL/SQL Web Toolkit version 10.1.2.0.6 or greater.
    As a convenience, the PL/SQL Web Toolkit 10.1.2.0.6 is included with Application Express 3.0
    in the apex/owa directory. This version of the PL/SQL Web Toolkit is not a replacement for
    subsequent versions of the PL/SQL Web Toolkit, as delivered with database patch sets or
    Critical Patch Updates.
    If the PL/SQL Web Toolkit version is lower than version 10.1.2.0.6, the included PL/SQL Web
    Toolkit bundled with Application Express 3.0 should be installed prior to the installation of
    Application Express 3.0.
    To determine the PL/SQL Web Toolkit version, connect to the database as the SYS user and
    run the query:
    select owa_util.get_version from dual;
    Installing the PL/SQL Web Toolkit 10.1.2.0.6
    1) Stop all applications using the database
    2) Navigate to the directory apex/owa
    3) Connect via SQL*Plus as the database user SYS
    4) Run the PL/SQL Web Toolkit installation script by issuing: @owainst.sql
    5) Review the output displayed from owainst.sql and ensure no errors were encountered.
    6) Confirm the PL/SQL Web Toolkit version is 10.1.2.0.6 or greater by connecting to the database
    as the SYS user and running the query:
    select owa_util.get_version from dual;
    7) Run the utlrp.sql script from the Oracle Database home to recompile all invalid PL/SQL
    packages now instead of when the packages are accessed for the first time. This step is
    optional but recommended. To run utlrp.sql, issue: @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql

    GPO "don't run specified windows applications" doesn't work to in win 8.1. any ideas why?  it is enabled and list of progs is entered however I can still run all progs on list.  This is a local machine not on a domain.  I must

  • Client-cert sample webapp doesn't work?

    In trying to understand how one can use client certificates with a Java webapp in the WS7, I figured I would start with the sample that comes with WS7 (in samples/java/webapps/security/client-cert). Unfortunately, the sample doesn't seem to work. I can install it just fine, and it runs, but it doesn't do what it is supposed to do. When I access the servlet from my browser, I see the message "Welcome to our Certificate secure zone." Unfortunately, it let me access this page without ever prompting me for a certificate, so it's not actually a certificate secure zone. I double-checked in the access logs to see, and sure enough index.jsp is being delivered to an unauthenticated user.
    When I examine the web.xml deployment descriptor, it's not clear to me that it should work. Here's the web.xml:
    <web-app>
      <display-name>Welcome to Certificate Security Zone</display-name>
      <servlet>
        <servlet-name>clientcert</servlet-name>
        <display-name>clientcert</display-name>
        <jsp-file>/index.jsp</jsp-file>
      </servlet>
      <session-config>
        <session-timeout>30</session-timeout>
      </session-config>
      <security-constraint>
        <web-resource-collection>
          <web-resource-name>clientcert security test</web-resource-name>
          <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
        </web-resource-collection>
      </security-constraint>
      <login-config>
        <auth-method>CLIENT-CERT</auth-method>
        <realm-name>certificate</realm-name>
      </login-config>
    </web-app>This web.xml seems to imply that the mere presence of a login-config will secure the entire app. The servlet specification seems a bit vague on this point, but since there isn't any auth-constraint in the security-constraint, I don't think the login-config ever applies. I think the login-config only comes into play when a security-constraint requires authentication.
    What am I missing in my understanding of the web.xml?
    What might prevent this simple sample from working properly? Could there be some other ACL or web server setting that overrides?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    If URI is not a protected resource and you want client authentication, you should use server.xml <ssl><client-auth>...</client-auth></ssl> instead of PathCheck line as I told. Value can be set to "required" or "optional".
    However, if URL is a protected resource you DO NOT HAVE to add PathCheck or client-auth element in server.xml.*
    After installing client-cert sample application using ant and ant deploy, here is what you have to do to make it work :
    1) Add in http-listener element in instance's server.xml :
       <ssl><enabled>true</enabled></ssl>2) Make sure you have a certificate named "Server-Cert" in NSS db in <ws-install-dir>/https-<instance-name>/config or change the certificate name appropriately in server.xml.
    3) To make it a protected resource, web.xml should have :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN' 'http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd'>
    <web-app>
      <display-name>clientcert</display-name>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>clientcert</servlet-name>
        <display-name>clientcert</display-name>
        <jsp-file>/index.jsp</jsp-file>
      </servlet>
      <session-config>
        <session-timeout>30</session-timeout>
      </session-config>
      <security-constraint>
        <web-resource-collection>
          <web-resource-name>Protected Area</web-resource-name>
          <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
          <http-method>DELETE</http-method>
          <http-method>POST</http-method>
          <http-method>GET</http-method>
          <http-method>PUT</http-method>
        </web-resource-collection>
        <auth-constraint>
          <role-name>*</role-name>
        </auth-constraint>
      </security-constraint>
      <security-constraint>
        <web-resource-collection>
          <web-resource-name>Protected Area</web-resource-name>
          <url-pattern>/roleprotected/*</url-pattern>
          <http-method>DELETE</http-method>
          <http-method>POST</http-method>
          <http-method>GET</http-method>
          <http-method>PUT</http-method>
        </web-resource-collection>
        <auth-constraint>
          <role-name>TestRoleOne</role-name>
        </auth-constraint>
      </security-constraint>
      <login-config>
        <auth-method>CLIENT-CERT</auth-method>
      </login-config>
      <security-role>
        <role-name>TestRoleOne</role-name>
      </security-role>
    </web-app>4) And sun-web.xml should have :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE sun-web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Sun ONE Application Server 7.0 Servlet 2.3//EN" "http://www.sun.com/software/sunone/appserver/dtds/sun-web-app_2_3-0.dtd">
    <sun-web-app>
    <security-role-mapping>
       <role-name>TestRoleOne</role-name>
       <principal-name>[email protected], CN=Franzl Alpha, UID=alpha, OU=People, O=TestCentral, C=US</principal-name>
    </security-role-mapping>
    </sun-web-app>You will be able to access http://<host-name>:<port>/ without sending client certificate from the browser.
    Now create client certificate and import this certificate in your browser.
    Access from the browser, http://<host-name>:<port>/webapps-certificatebased-security/index.jsp browser should prompt for cert selection (if so configured) and the application should get certificate.
    P/S I have tested it It works for me this way (without adding <ssl><client-auth> or PathCheck directive).

  • Please help: Application doesn't work after upgrade to Workshop 8 sp2 from sp1

    Hi,
    Our application worked on workshop 8 sp1. After we upgrade system from sp1 to
    sp2, some of the part doesn't work propertly any more.
    1. netui:select seems not bind form data propertly. For drop down list box in
    forms, although user has chosen something from the drop down list box, the returned
    value in the form is always null.
    2. we use Java script window.open(url,...) to download and view files. After upgrade
    from sp1 to sp2, clients keep getting IE error complaining that "Internet Explore
    can not open this Internet site. The request site is either unavailable or can
    not be found. Please try again later", although the server and the files are all
    in local host server.
    Please help. Thanks

    Did you update your workshop application files and recompile your application?
    A few things changed between GA and sp2, some annotations were renamed, and some
    were added.
    If you open up your application in Workshop sp2, it should given you the option
    to upgrade your application.
    Failing that, you may need to go through the code that is not performing as it
    was before and check whether it was not utilising a bug that was fixed in sp2
    and thus causes it to not function correctly now.

  • Why reloading pure asset SWF with AIR sdk 3.6+ doesn't work?

    Hi, I posted this in the AIR beta channel, but I think it suits better here... I'm sorry for double posting.
    Hi,
    I have a game targeting iOS using AIR sdk that needs to load many swf assets from the disk (packaged with the game). When using AIR sdk 3.5, everything runs just fine. When upgrading the sdk to 3.6 or later (-swf-version=19, 20, 21), we ran into the following problems:
    1) The packaging time (making the ipa file for iOS) passes from 15 minutes to 40+ minutes.
    2) The game can't load any swf twice (ie. reload a swf).
    The first problem is not a big deal. We only have to wait a little bit more. Our guess is that is has to do with new feature introduced by the sdk 3.6, which will go through all packaged secondary swfs and remove the code from it, and since we have lot of swf assets, it takes more time.
    The second problem is way more serious, as I have to be able to reload assets according to player's action. Since we have a ton of assets, I can't keep them all in the memory as we could quickly run out of memory.
    I know that there's a documented limitation of sdk 3.6 which states:
    In AIR apps on iOS running in AOT mode there is a problem when a SWF is reloaded. Therefore reloading a SWF will not be allowed for AIR apps for iOS in AOT mode and attempting to do so will result in following error:
    Error 3764: Reloading a SWF is not supported on this operating system
    It also says that "Reloading of pure asset SWFs will work with AIR 3.7". However, that's not true, since all my assets are pure asset SWF without any code inside. It won't work, even with AIR 3.8.
    While searching on the internet, I came across a forum post that says that the only way to know if a swf is a pure asset swf, is by using swfdump.exe, and searching for the DoABC2 tag. I did it, and effectively, DoABC2 tag was there, but empty.
    So my first observation is that:
    - Pure asset SWF file containing empty DoABC2 tag can be reloaded using AIR SDK 3.5
    - Pure asset SWF file containing empty DoABC2 tag can't be reloaded using AIR SDK 3.6+
    It seems to me that AIR SDK 3.6+ doesn't care if the tag is empty or not. If it is there, then it's not ok.
    Then I wanted to know why my SWFs have this empty tag. After lot of tests, it turns out that it is because I am using jsfl to automate the export of assets from a FLA file. And there comes my second observation:
    - When exporting a swf without code from Flash IDE (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S), there's no empty DoABC2 tag.
    - When exporting a swf from the Flash IDE's library (right click on the library Movieclip -> Export Flash movie...), empty DoABC2 tag is automatically inserted.
    Unfortunately, my jsfl script uses thee same Library export functionality, and it produces the same "contaminated" swf. Why doesn't it produce the same SWF from both ways of export? I have no idea.
    In the perfect world, the AIR SDK would not only look for the DoABC2 tag, but it should check whether if there's code inside. Also, Flash should use the same export process disregarding if it is being called from the IDE or the Library, and not inserting empty DoABC2 tag when there's no code.
    As for now, I can't find any workaround to solve my problem. That means that I'm stuck with swf-version=18, and I can't benefit from all the cool features such as rectangle textures, new Context3DTextureFormat etc.
    If anyone has a solution, or simply pointing out what I'm doing wrong here, please share it.
    Thanks for reading.
    Iojeirg

    Hi makc3d,
    Thanks for the response. After all that time I started losing hope.
    I would not say that the abvious solution is to remove the tag. I think it should not be put there in the first place if there's no code at all. Moreover, this only happens when exporting a MC from the Library, and it works just fine when exporting normally (publish). It seems more like a bug than an expected behaviour.
    Also, AIR should check for actual code in this tag instead of relying only on the tag itself.
    Your solution is a nice workaround, and I will certainly try that out. But as I said, it will not fix the original bug, it will only patch it later on in the process.

  • "Always open with" (this application) doesn't work

    I'm fighting to set Photoshop as the default application to open TIFF files. The present persistent default is Preview. In theory, I should right-click on a TIFF file, choose Open with > Other..., then select Photoshop and check "Always open with" checkbox.
    It doesn't work. The file is opened in Photoshop, but after I close the file and double-click THE SAME FILE in Finder, my Mac happily launches Preview again.

    Hi,
    Try the other way,
    1. Right click on the tiff file, choose 'Get Info'.
    2. In the get info window choose 'Photoshop' for 'Open with'.
    3. Click the 'Change All...' button.
    This might work.

  • .app applications doesn´t work

    Hi!
    I'm exporting from Flash Professional CS5.5 with Air 3.1 to .air and .app files. The application is working fine on .air extension, but when I try to install the .app file it open always with Flash Player and obviously doesn't work.
    I've tried exporting from windows and mac, tested on Lion and Snow Leopard with the same results... I assume Adobe Air is installed and working properly because .air files work well.
    PS: It should be noted that the .app size is 13Mb and the .air 300kb

  • Minimize into applications doesn't work

    I've just noticed that the 'Minimize Into Applications' feature in the Dock System Preferences doesn't work in 10.6.1. Instead, each window is minimized on the right side of the Dock as it did in Leopard. Is anybody else noticing this problem?
    Plus, whenever I launch an application, its icon in the Dock doesn't work properly. It doesn't show the white triangle underneath it, and Dock Exposé doesn't work.

    Do you have any 3rd party apps that attempt to modify the Finder or Menus, etc.?
    If so, confirm they are compatible with Snow Leopard, install updates or remove them, etc.
