PL/SQL Web Service failing to generate Table of Raw datatype

Trying to generate web services from pl/sql stored procs. Most work fine, but getting the following errors:
Error(33,5): field _lazyArray not found in class mergepkg.MergewsSignatures
Error(26,14): method setArray(byte[][]) not found in class mergepkg.MergewsSignatures
which I'm thinking seems to be related to a table of raw type
TYPE fields IS TABLE OF table.field%TYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
where table.field%TYPE is RAW(64)
I read that LONG and LONG RAW are not allowed, but my (limited) understanding is that RAW converts to byte.
Any insights appreciated.

Hi Steffen,
I did manage to get it to work by doing the following:
drop type longcredit_list
drop type longcredit_obj
create type longcredit_obj as object
(credit varchar2(200),
parlrepid number(6),
mbrid number(6),
rdgid number(6))
create type longcredit_list as table of longcredit_obj
create or replace package longcredit_pck as
function get_longcredit(initials in varchar2) return longcredit_list;
end longcredit_pck;
create or replace package body longcredit_pck as
function get_longcredit(initials in varchar2) return longcredit_list
as
v_longcredit_obj longcredit_obj:=longcredit_obj(null,null,null,null);
v_longcredit_list longcredit_list:=longcredit_list();
i number:=1;
cursor getlist is
select distinct a.credit, a.parlrepid, a.mbrid, a.rdgid
from member_credits_test_vw a
where upper(init) = upper(initials)
order by a.parlrepid;
begin
for rec in getlist loop
v_longcredit_obj.credit := rec.credit;
v_longcredit_obj.parlrepid := rec.parlrepid;
v_longcredit_obj.mbrid := rec.mbrid;
v_longcredit_obj.rdgid := rec.rdgid;
v_longcredit_list.extend;
v_longcredit_list(i):=v_longcredit_obj;
i:=i+1;
end loop;
return v_longcredit_list;
end get_longcredit;
end longcredit_pck;
Also, before deploying, in jdeveloper, in the deploy file, I select the property filters under web-inf\classes and check all the classes that are unchecked (see thread id 505217).
Also, the database I'm using now is v. 10.2.0.3.0.
Thanks for your suggestion!
Carmen.

• PL/SQL Web Service fails when deployed to WebLogic server

I have a web service generated via JDeveloper from a PL/SQL package. It runs fine both when tested in JDeveloper and when the WAR file is manually deployed to the Integrated WebLogic Server. However, when the WAR file is deployed to our actual WebLogic server, it fails. Other existing web services that were not generated with the JDeveloper wizard work correctly. I am having trouble finding any references to this type of issue to solve it. Are there any ideas what might be causing the WSDL to fail?
References:
* JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.
* No proxies are involved.
* The PLSQL package is a basic function that returns varchar2 input fed in by one parameter:

function test_me (p_anything_in varchar2)
return varchar2 is
begin

• Jdeveloper 11g R2 problem when publishing PL\SQL Web Service

Hi Guys,
I have been banging my head against the wall for the past few days trying to publish pl\sql package as a web service on a weblogic 10.3 but I keep running into the same problem.
PL\SQL Package Source below
create type dept_type as object
(deptno NUMBER,
dname VARCHAR2(50),
loc varchar2(13),
cr_date date)
create type dept_list_table is table of dept_type
purge recyclebin;
create or replace package ws_package as
procedure test_dept_table (pout out dept_list_table);
end ws_package;
show errors;
create or replace package body ws_package as
procedure test_dept_table (pout out dept_list_table) is
all_depts dept_list_table := dept_list_table();
dRecType dept_type;
i number := 0;
begin
-- iterate through all depts
for r_list in (select * from dept) loop
i := i + 1;
dRecType := dept_type(null, null, null, null);
dRecType.deptno := r_list.deptno;
dRecType.dname := r_list.dname;
dRecType.loc := r_list.loc_id;
dRecType.cr_date := sysdate;
pout.extend;
pout(i) := dRecType;
end loop;
end test_dept_table;
end ws_package;
show errors;
I go and create PL\SQL Web Service using default settings in Jdeveloper 11g R2 but when I try and test this page I get the following response:
Failed to invoke end component servqa.MyWebService1User (POJO), operation=testDeptTable -> Failed to invoke method -> java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 13: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'TEST_DEPT_TABLE' ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored
Anyone have any idea what the problem may be? Your help would be much appreceated!
Bojan

Hi Frank,
I think the problem is in any procedure that has a COMPLEX TYPE as OUT parameter. So even if you strip down the procedure to just do nothing I still get the error as described in my top post. Passing complex parameters as IN parameter work fine its only when I have procedure with complex out when it errors. I also tried function that returns object parameter and that works fine too so not sure why this doesnt?
create or replace package body ws_package as
procedure test_dept_table (pout out dept_list_table) is
begin
-- iterate through all depts
for r_list in (select * from dept) loop
i := i + 1;
end loop;
end test_dept_table;
end ws_package;
Not sure if I am meant to do anything extra before I generate Web Service using JDeveloper if my procedure has got PL\SQL types as OUT parameters but as far as I know JDeveloper should do all the type conversions for you??
Thanks
Bojan

• Creating PL/SQL web services from object types

Hello
Jdeveloper, pl/sql web-services working successfully with object types.If we want to send the web-services to the client, do we need to send the entire folder that is created in the web-services folder of the external oc4j..?
Creating the client process:

Hello
Accessing the pl/sql webservices from the application server:
I have created pl/sql webservice using the nested tables. This will insert the object data into database tables.after deplying the webservice into external oc4j, when I test the webservice locally with url: http://localmachine:8888/PL_SQL_WS-Nest_Obj_Webservice-context-root/ObjWebserviceSoapHttpPort
The above web-services working and I am able to insert into the database tables.
Same when I want to access through the application server, I have changed the wsdl file soap address as
<soap:address location="http://10.91.20.7:8888/PL_SQL_WS-Nest_Obj_Webservice-context-root/ObjWebserviceSoapHttpPort"/>
When I access this url, I am able to give the input data
http://10.91.20.7:8888/PL_SQL_WS-Nest_Obj_Webservice-context-root/ObjWebserviceSoapHttpPort
but the out from the web-service is:

• PL/SQL Web Service: Broken Pipe

We have successfully deployed PL/SQL Web Services on the Oracle Application Server 10g with about 6 containers. The web services are being consumed by a .NET application. All seems to be working well but we continually are having intermittent (every 2-3 days) "BROKEN PIPE" errors which is causing us to bounce the container constantly. This is not very effecient for a production environment. Does anybody have any ideas........? Here is what shows up in the log:
javax.servlet.ServletException: Io exception: Broken pipe
at swprodweb.__Ws_reservationImplSPWrapper.destroy(__Ws_reservationImplSPWrapper.java:605)
at oracle.j2ee.ws.RpcWebService.destroy(RpcWebService.java:93)

So everytime I see this error I know that we have to bounce the container. Very Frustrating!!

Hi,
Although it's a long time since you posted your message, I nowadays working with this issue, that is, calling web services from Oracle database 10g through UTL_DBWS package. It turns out that almost 3 of 100 requests fail due to this error (broken pipe). Actually, the trace is:

• PL/SQL web service code in 1013 is schema-specific

When I generate a Web Service from a pl/sql package in 1013 (ea3), the code will only run against the schema that owns any user-defined SQL types that the package references. These types have synonyms on the database, but to get the code to execute against another schema I have to modify the generated type classes and add the owning schema name into the literals in several different places.
Is there a way I can get the wizards to do this for me?

Yes, we tried with databse adapter with out any problem. we want specifically with the PL/SQL Web service using the web service wizard.
Thanks in advance.

Ok, this sounds like a known bug ( Bug 5908689 ) in 10.1.3.1, but this was specific to non-Windows platforms. Are you on Linux/Solaris or any other platform? It might or might not be the same problem you are hitting but it does seem quite close (can't say for sure without a close investigation, I am afraid!)
In any case, this bug is fixed in the 10.1.3.4 patchset (besides quite a few other fixes and enhancements) - so would recommend you to first apply the 10.1.3.4 patchset and retest. The patchset is available on My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) under Patch 7272722. Or you could go a step ahead, and apply the 10.1.3.5 patchset (Patch 8626084) instead which is the latest patchset for OracleAS 10.1.3.x.

• Oracle PL/SQL Web service - dynamic parameters... possible?

Oracle 11.2.0.3 - newbie on web services!
Currently we have a pl/sql web service taking in 2 static parameters and returning a varchar2 response.
I was asked today if it's possible for a web service to take in a dynamic set of parameters and return a corresponding set of results. It's as if I need to pass the web service a table with two columns and return a table of one column.
For example:
Input                          Output
1 2                             3
3 4                             7
5 6 11output being in XML of course. It is possible?
p.s. I posted this in OC4J also - no response hence the re-post !

Parameters relate to procedures. Web Services require XML messages.
Where are the parameters coming from? You cannot pass a dynamic number of parameters into a procedure, but you can pass a structured type as a parameter which can contain multiple values, whether that is an array/collection type or an XML document itself.
Just package up the values into the XML and pass it to the web service.
If this doesn't answer your question, please post more information, with some example data and code. Read the FAQ: {message:id=9360002}

• Testing PL/SQL Web Service Error

I've generated a web service using JDev 10.1.2, ran it in the embedded OC4J Server. I then generated a stub to test it with, browsed to the web service wsdl file in the original project, and ran the stub. The stub project returns the error:
SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:Protocol; msg=Unsupported response content type "text/html", must be: "text/xml". Response was:
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>500 Internal Server Error</TITLE></HEAD><BODY><H1>500 Internal Server Error</H1><PRE>java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
I'm not sure what I should be looking for to track this down. Is it a bug in my stub, or in my web service? In order to keep things simple, the stored procedure only takes a few strings, and I've double-checked the values and order of parameters I'm passing. Anybody have any ideas?

I got this figured out, just blew away my projects
and started over, and it worked. Now that I've got
it working in a test environment, how do I get it
into production? Is Oracle's AS the only AS you can
use to deploy a PL/SQL web service?The OrindaBuild Plugin for JDev 10.1.2 writes Java classes to run PL/SQL that work with Apache Axis 1.1 and should work with almost any web service toolkit.

You may want to use "REF CURSOR" for your requirement. Store the result set in a "REF CURSOR" in your webservice.
From the JDeveloper documentation how to use PL/SQL WebServices.
