Place a photo into a book older that 12 months

I assembling photos from a 6 year period and put them in an album. then I used that album to create a book. now I want to add a photo I forgot but the tap only shows me the album and the last 12 months. How do I place a picture that;s older?

Remember that we can not see what you are doing so correct terminology is critical so we both understand each other
I open the folder with the photo I want.
Folders in iPhoto do not hold photos - folders hold other folders or albums - never photos
you can drag from photos view, event view or an album
If you open the photo in the event or album does it open up?
Try renewing your iPhoto preference file -
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

Control (right) - click on the photo in the frame and select Fit to Frame Size in the contextual menu.

  • Problem Dragging a photo into a BOOK project

I did this last week. But now I can't seem to drag a photo out of one album into a book album so that I can add this photo to the book during the layout process. There doesn't seem to be a work-around for this. When I called Apple, they wanted $199.00 to help me trouble-shoot this. Anyone have any ideas how I could fix this or make this work?

I hope I have the right context: Ruscle is correct, but you have another option. If its not the pick of the stack, you can designate a non-pick as an "album pick". It should work for the book you are working on from then on. Go to the Stack menu and select Album Pick. See example here (scroll about halfway down - look for the "Non-Pick Images" error window):

  • Order of photos into a book

I have 400 photos I wish to import into a book. The max pages pf a book is 100. I wish to design the pages and then import the phots in a pre arranged order to save time. Is this possible?  have done the following. I have used autoflow and it does not import all the pics. It does howvere not appear to import the pics in the order I created in the album I imported from.I have then editted the pages and then deleted all pics and the book defaults back to a 20 page document?

Gary, the post from kswbird at the bottom of the following thread may be of help in your aim to preserve the photo order:

  • HT3412 can i import the titles of photos into a book?

trying to get photo title into a book

That theme are you using? Some themes have a text field for the Title that gets populated automatically.  Does your theme have such a text field.
The one theme that I know has that is Folio.
Otherwise Command (right) - click on each photo on the page and select Edit from the contextual menu.  In the edit mode the file title will be displayed at the top of the Edit window.  You can copy it, exit the Edit mode and paste it in the text box as needed. Not a very elegant workflow but will work.

  • Photos into iPhoto book has a grid on it?

Wow, what's this? I've made a couple dozen iPhoto books already, but am coming up with something weird - a white grid covers some of the photos, and prints as such. Hm. They vary, but the average photo is a DVD size constrained, average around 7MB. Some have a white grid (looks like a spiderweb) then some have a black grid. Gets exciting when you open and close the photos because the "web" goes from pale to bright!
    Thanks,

  • Problem dragging some photos into book.. they don't show at all.

I have a problem dragging some photos into a book. I've never had this issue before. I can tell that "something" has moved because it often has a ! for resolution issues and the photo has the white check that signifies it has been used....but the photo doesn't show at all.
The photos were made into sepia prints.
Help! Any suggestions about what could be wrong?
    Thanks for any advice.

The ! indicates that iPhoto has broken/lost the file path to the original file. Make a backup copy of the library and run the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
    Fix #2
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos.
    Fix #3
Start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.

  • Is there a way to import the photo's in my iPhoto (9.2.1) into a folder so that I can use the Canon Solutions Menu EX software to print photos on Pixma MG5220 printer

Is there a way to import the iPhoto (9.2.1) database of photos into a folder so that I may use Canon's Solution Menu EX software to print on a Pixma MG5220 ? I do not want to remove the existing photo's from iPhoto but transfer them to a folder that the Canon software will recognize.

You Export photos from iPhoto -
In iPhoto File menu ==> export - create the folder on the desktop - then use them as you wish

  • Placing photos into ID CS5

I upgraded to Lion  and I'm using ID CS5 version 7.0.4. I don't know if my problem is with ID or with the Apple Media Browser. I just know that I can't place additional photos into my ID document after I place the first one. The only way I can place another is to quit ID and restart it. They I can place another photo from Aperture. But again, if I want to place more than one after opening ID, then I'd have to quit ID and restart it.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what I can do about it and whether it's an issue with Adobe ID or Apple Media Browser?
    Thanks.

Thank you, John for you comments and willingness to help. My photos in Aperture are managed by Aperture. That means they are stored in my Aperture library file and not in a finder folder.
After placing the first photo into ID (and that works) if I go back to place a second photo, the "Open" button never becomes active. That's probably why double-clicking the selection just causes it to get bigger and bring it to the front of all the other photos. I never noticed this before that the "Open" button was grayed out when I couldn't place the photo. The fact that it works the first time after opening ID and then doesn't, causes me to wonder if there's some incompatibility between ID CS5 and Mac OS Lion.
If I export from Aperture to the Desktop I can use the "Place" command over and over again to pick up the files that are there.
The problem with putting the files on the desktop, placing them from there, and then choosing "relink" is that I can't relink it if the file is gone. I get the same problem as described above with the open button never becoming active.  And trying to discover through the finder where that photo is stored in the "belly" of the Aperture library file is almost impossible.
I know that I could export the files to the desktop, place them, and then "embed" them into the ID file I'm working with, but that's just a lot of extra steps that shouldn't be necessary.
Hopefully this gives a better understanding.
    Thanks.

  • Importing records into Address Book

I note the difficulties some have had importing records. I too am having problems. I'm trying to get my Filemaker databases into Address Book so that I can then move them to my iPod. Exporting from Filemaker is fine, and importing into Address Book appears to be. However on closer examination it isn't, as all the records have been imported but not all the fields in all the records. As the import isn't perfect, it's arguably useless.
Anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions as to where the problem lies? And has anyone found the best way to get Filemaker databases onto iPods?
    Thanks.

If you open Address Book, click on Card menuitem and select Edit Template. This will show you what the current template is and what fields may be added to the template.
You can then edit the LDIF file when it's created to select only the desired export fields that will match the template.
I believe when you then import into Address Book you will have an opportunity to match up the corresponding fields. Been so long since I did this I don't remember.

  • Placing photo into a resume template

Hi, been at this for a couple of hours, learning plenty about everything other than what I really want to do:
How do I place a photo into a Pages template? I am using one of the resume templates, have my completed resume and it looks great. Only the photo challenge is stuffing me up.
    Cheers, S.

    Hello ShakuZen,
there are three ways to place an image or other media into a Pages document.
    1) If it is one of Pages own templates and you want to exchange an image, just drag and drop your image from the Finder window over the image in the template, because all images in Pages own templates are placeholders and they are defined for this task.
    2) You can drag and drop images out of some apps like Safari, iPhoto and of course from Finder windows and others into a Pages document.
    3) You can use the menu item "Insert/Choose..." to import images or PDFs etc.
But there is one thing you have to know: if the text cursor is visible somewhere on the page and you are using the "Choose..." function, the image is automatically placed at the cursor position and it is an inline object. So make sure the text cursor is not visible (by clicking outside of all text areas near the page border), if you want a fix positioned image. Of course you can change the positioning mode every time with the wrap inspector.

Not much you can do.  You overwrote your current data with older data when you restored the phone from that backup.  Your data's gone.

  • After sorting photos into albums, the albums disappeared on me. I dragged and dropped the photos and went back to check that they were in place before exiting the program. When I went back, the folder was there but no albums. Help!

Working on an IMac - with IPhoto v.9.6
This is my first experience with IPhoto... trying to move files from a PC over to a Mac.
I don't have a ton of photos but I created about 6 albums - standard albums - and dragged and dropped individual photos into each of the albums. I named each of the albums as well so I would know what was in each. After i was finished, I created a folder called 2014 and moved each of the albums into that folder. Before moving ANY of the albums, I opened each of them up to make sure that all the photos I wanted in each were indeed there - and since there were some errors on my part, I deleted any duplicates first. SO, I KNOW the photos were actually in each of the albums BEFORE i moved them into the 2014 folder.
My intention was to then delete the photo files in my document file but once I got there I thought I would go back and double check the IPhoto file just to make sure... and the pictures were NOT in the albums where I had placed them... is there a need to save this before you move on and if so, to where and how? I was under the impression that once files were moved to albums, they remain there.
The photos are still in the photo library but unsorted now again... I cannot even open the 2014 folder at this point.
    Thanks for any help!!

Was back on IPhoto this morning. The folder did not open at all so I deleted it. Beside Albums, nothing showed at all. It was like I had done no work at all except to import my photo folder. Nothing was in my trash bin either.
I started again and created one album at a time. I dragged and dropped photos into the album and exited out of IPhoto, opened up other programs and then returned to IPhoto to see if the album was still there and it was this time. I created a second album and did the same thing. This time, for some reason, the albums seem to be staying in place. I am not doing anything differently than last time. After creating three albums, I created a folder called 2014 and dragged and dropped the three albums into the folder and exited IPhoto. They were still there when I returned - YEAH! It seems to be working - for now! I am keeping my fingers crossed that my photos are not going to disappear but I am not going to delete my photo folder from my files just in case!
Thanks for the suggestions but this may just have been a funny glitch... not sure what happened. I didn't change anything or do anything differently this time except that I am doing it one album at a time and exiting the program between creating each of them and coming back to check... very strange.

  • My iPhoto doesnt allow me to place more photos, says that the space is full but my mac book pro is new (less than 2 weeks) and I only got 500 photos, what should I do?? the computer is almost empty

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

You can make the collages easily if you have iWork.  Just open a letter sized page in landscape mode and drag the photos onto the page, rotate and postiion as necessary.  Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto to get a 200 dpi jpeg version of the Pages page into iPhoto.  From there you can add it to your book and use a blank page with the option to have an image as the backbround.
If you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers you can create the collage with it.
