Place Custom Program on Home Computer
I have a Java custom program, created by me. I wanted to put this program on my computer. I copy the file and put it in the "C" drive on the folder "program files". I then copy .exe file into the desktop so I can use it as a shortcut. The problem is that the custom program have an "MS access" database file that I use to record my daily activity. Therefore, whenever I click on the .exe icon, I can excuted my file safely but can't access the "access" database. Plus, my crystal report that I have in it doesn't work due to the path being invalid. I'm not familar with this. This is my first time eve using a custom software. Thanks for your help.
Hello Thomas,
The title of the component can also be set programmatically via IF_BSP_WD_HISTORY_STATE_DESCR~GET_STATE_DESCRIPTION method on the controller level as well.

To add to sig's reply, "calibrating" does not calibrate Lithiu-Ion batteries, it calibrates the charge reporting circuitry. If you look at the effect of deep discharging Lithium-Ion batteries in the data from the independent test group, Battery University, you will see that doing so shortens the life of the battery significantly. It looks like an optimum balance between use and life is at a discharge level of 50%.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you made a Time Machine backup before deleting the applications, you can recover them from your backup. Just go to the Applications folder, and open the Time Machine app, so you will be able to recover the applications just navigating through your backups.
However, there are some applications that won't work after doing this, because they require other system files. In this case, you will have to download the apps again from the Internet and install them using the installer -

I recently had to purchase a new home computer and lost all my hard drive data. I want to transfer all my iPad data (contacts, files, etc) to my iTunes on this new computer. The Synch process will erase all iPad data and replace with what is on this computer. Is there a way to do what I want to do?
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Transfer Custom Stamp to New Computer
I am currently using Acrobat Pro 9 Extended. A long time ago I created two custom stamps for my Adobe Acrobat on my work computer. I want to get the same stamps onto my home computer. I am hoping that I can somehow just export the stamps and then import them into the home computer. It has been so long I would hate to have to remake them. I have not been able to firgure out if this is possible. I assume the stamps are in a file somewhere in the Adobe program files but cannot identify what it would be? Can anyone help? Thanks
You can find the location both of the possible locations by opening the JavaScript console (Ctrl+J) and executing both of these lines of code:
app.getPath("user", "stamps");
app.getPath("app", "stamps");
Place the cursor on the first line and press Ctrl+Enter, or Enter on the numeric keypad. Do the same of the next line. Your custom stamp file will likely be in the first location. -
Remote desktop 3...can i control work computer from home computer
want to be able to control my work computer on a diff network from my home computer
and what kind of lag is involved?Yes as per the last poster connect via VPN and add your machine.
Works pretty well and if on good connections then not much lag at all. On busy networks and slower internet connections it can get a bit slow.
Depending on your setup there are other easy programs as well such as logmein free or similar that require no VPN or settings or playing with firewalls.
Depends on the size of your company and their procedures. If they have VPN in place great or if you control and set all that stuff up - It's pretty straight forward. -
So I have had a major data loss on my home computer. I have a old backup from a year ago but a loaded Ipod. I read some discussions about getting that back either by using the Ipod and a 3rd party program or with just the ipod but losing the playlist/rating/playcount info. But I have a new issue. I have a pre-order waiting for me but no place to download it. Patience is not a virtue of mine. So is it best to load itunes elsewhere and authorize my account download it and burn a copy? Later using that on the home computer? I realize I cannot add this to the current ipod without sacrificing everything else on there. So what do you think? Would appreciate any input on the reload to the computer as well, like which 3rd party program to ensure my library contains all the data on it. Thanks!
Try to play around with the router’s wireless settings. Use this tool: http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ to select the best channel that you can use on your router. You can also change the router’s Advanced Wireless Settings with these settings: beacon 50; dtim 3, frag 2304, rts 2305. Make sure to place the router in an elevated area and don’t place router on a metallic or glass surface in order for you to get a stronger signal from the router. If the router’s performance does not improve then you might consider getting a wireless extender or return the router and have it replaced.

I have synced my iPhone numerous times and some of the memos in "Voice Memos" on my iPhone wont go over to my iTunes program on my computer. I have a folder titled "Voice Memos" on my iPhone and one of the same name on iTunes on my computer. But after I sync I only get 6 out of the 9 voice memos on my iPhone.
How do I get the rest (or all) of the memos from my iPhone copied to my computer?
Albro P Michell
[email protected]"I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up."
Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.
"I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where I sync everything. "
Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one. -

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but when I'm viewing my desktop on the home computer from work (as in I've connected by finding my computer in the finder and hit the "Share Screen" button - is there any way to turn off the display at home? It seems a bit of a waste of power to have the screen on when I'm not actually there - I just need to be able to see all my programs etc on the remote screen in order to use them. My home computer is a 2011 iMac running latest Mountain Lion, work is a 2010 MacBook Pro.
Thanks in advance!
MattI've set up another user on my home Mac and left that one logged in. Now when I connect from work it asks me if I want to share the screen or log on virtually as my user. I think choosing the second option doesn't power up the screen.

I am using the latest Firefox (28.0) on Windows XP in a shared computer environment. Although I do not have Administrator access, I installed Firefox myself and can change whatever Firefox config settings I want (including about:config and mucking with the files in the installation directory).
I want to disable the tab that appears on Firefox startup, "Another program on your computer would like to modify Firefox with the following add-on". This tab usually appears once per day (the first time I startup Firefox each day). I want the tab not to appear at all, from now on.
The "another program" in question is some program that is used in the facility where I'm using the computer, so I can't just uninstall that program. Although this is a shared computer environment, they don't "wipe" the machine every day, just reboot. So the Firefox I installed is still there with all my config settings intact. As far as I know, I'm the only person who uses Firefox on this computer.
Solutions that don't work:
"Just click Continue" -- but then I still see the "Another program" tab every day, and don't want to see it.
"Click Remove in the Add-ons list" -- I removed the Add-on in question but the tab still appears every day.
I would like a solution that either eliminates the Add-on request for that particular application, or eliminates all such requests ("Another program...") regardless of what application requested it. The ideal solution would be if the request itself had a checkbox for "never ask this again" but, alas, no such luck.Gosh... I spent about an hour preparing a response, then accidentally did control-something or alt-something which took me back a page and I lost everything I typed (even after I clicked Forward to try to get back to where I was). If anyone knows of a config setting like "don't ever trash an entire page of user input unless the user explicitly confirms it", or, "keep form input data even if the user goes Back or Forward", I think that would be a great feature.
OK, back to the original question...
I appreciate the responses thus far, but I think there have been some misunderstandings. Maybe a multiple-choice version would help:
Question: Is there a way to suppress the appearance of the notification tab that says, "Another program on your computer would like to modify Firefox with the following add-on" (meaning, any request from another program to install an add-on is to be silently ignored and discarded)?
Answer:
(A) Yes, you can suppress that notification (please state how).
(B) No, but you can request that feature (please state where).
(C) No, you can't do that or request that feature.
That's basically my question in a nutshell. If the answer is (B), I might envision a boolean about:config setting like "extensions.allowProgrammaticAddonRequests" that defaults to "true" and can be set to "false" manually. I think that would be the most direct solution (if it were possible).
I will respond to some comments from above:
"I don't understand why you are using a mozilla.cfg file to lock those preferences when you can modify the preferences for your current Firefox profile via about:config" -- This is because the "other program" in question (iCafe Manager) was setting certain config options (browser.startup.homepage, and browser.newtab.url) on every reboot (which happens every morning at that facility). I got tired of manually changing the settings back every day. Using the above-mentioned files, I successfully defeated iCafe Manager's daily interference with those config settings. The other things (like stuff related to Socks tunnelling) I probably could have just set once in about:config but doing a lockPref seemed to do no harm. The settings for "enabledScopes" and "xpinstall" were to see if they'd help with the problem I originally asked about, but they did not.
"I would look in about:config to make sure those preference modifications are in effect" -- yes, I confirmed that the settings are in effect and locked. That much works as expected.
"A) removing the iCafe Toolbar extension from the Firefox Addons -> Extensions panel results in the "Another program" tab at startup" -- true, but I think it would be more accurate to say: while the toolbar extension is not installed (due to either having been removed, or, never having been installed at all), the "Another program" tab appears on at least the first startup of Firefox after every reboot.
"B) when you allow the installation it shows up as "(disabled)" in the Extensions list but the unwanted toolbar still shows up (correct?)" -- yes, correct.
"You could explain the problem to the system administrator of your facility" -- unfortunately, there's no administrator on site, only a person who makes sure the lights are on. They'll call a tech if there's a catastrophic problem (like the net connection goes dead). Since I installed Firefox myself, and since iCafe Manager is a program they installed, I don't think they'll go out of their way to help me with Firefox (especially if I'm trying to defeat iCafe Manager's attempts to interfere with Firefox). From their point of view, their systems are working just fine.
"allow the installation and then see if you can go to the Firefox Customize menu and HIDE the toolbar as a workaround" -- since I'm not in that facility now (and probably won't be again until this summer or so), I can't experiment with those systems now. But I do recall clicking just about everything I could, including "View - Toolbars" (which seems to be the same menu as when I right-click on a toolbar line). That menu allows hiding toolbars, but from my recollection, the offending toolbar was not displayed in the list, so I could not hide it that way. Also, the Customize menu ("View - Toolbars - Customize") seems to allow only modifications to a toolbar, and not a way to hide an entire toolbar.
"it might help if you could post a new troubleshooting information list after you allow the iCafe Toolbar installation" -- ok, that troubleshooting report is included below.
Thanks again for your help.
