Place is not working.

For some reason my CS2 is not letting me place images, either through drag and drop or the Place command. I can open images but all I get is a frame. I am not in Outline mode and I'm in Standard Screen Mode.
Any ideas?

Is the active layer in outline mode? Look in the Layers panel for an outline of an eyeball.

I was looking into the issue you are desribing, and found a great article for troubleshooting wifi connections with iOS devices. It's called iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections and can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398.
Start with this section, and work your way down if needed.
Basic troubleshooting
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again.
Verify that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router or base station.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable/DSL modem are connected to power and turned on.
Check whether other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware.For AirPort Base Stations, refer to this article for information about firmware updates. For third-party Wi-Fi routers, check the manufacturer's website for details on updating your firmware.
Restart your iOS deviceHold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.

Paste in Place shortcut not working

My Paste in Place shortcut (cmd+shift+v) is not working in Adobe Illustrator CC (Updated) for Mac OS X.
It works when I manually press the command in the edit menu, but not when I use the keystrokes
When the shortcut is initiated, the software behaves as if nothing was pressed
It is showing as the proper shortcut when I view my shortcut preferences
When I try to re-type the shortcut in the preferences, it acts as if nothing was pressed
I've tried uninstalling SubScribe Plug-in
I've tried uninstalling Illustrator and then downloading again
I've tried resetting Illustrator preferences
I'm using the Apple Wireless Keyboard
I've tried using another keyboard and that didn't work either
Please help me, this is affecting workflow

What about Cmd+V for Paste (centre of the view), Cmd+F (place in front in the same place), or Cmd+B (place in back in the same place)?
Have you actually selected an object to paste?
Did you reinstall using the full three step way?
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Sidebar Places Folders NOT working as a Smart Folder

I have three sidebar Places Folders that I originally made, but now they do not work as an expected Smart Folder. The additional problem is I cannot remove these sidebar folders by simply dragging them OFF the side bar. If I right click on these three problem sidebar folders I am only allowed to "Open Sidebar Preferences" and further more the sidebar folder cannot be highlighted. What can I do to remove these folders from the sidebar?

Aperture and Places does not work

Hi,
i have the newest Version of OSX Lion and of Aperture 3. The Places function does not work. All Buttons and functions which are assosciated with the function of GPS are grey. I have no possibility to push any Button that has something to do with GPS Information. The Map ist a little bit light and i cannot zoom in it. It also has noch Needles to show locations. If i import some Pictures with geoinformation, aperture do not show it on the map. Some ideas please! Thank you very much.

I also have the same problem, after 5 minutes I can't open or place anything in illustrator. I have this problem also in photoshop cc 2014. This started after installing Yosemite.
Tried to reinstall but nothing helps.
Today after updating creative cloud application it is even worse: illustrator is not opening anything: not even a new file. So I reinstalled... and I can open again for 5 minutes. But then it crashed while saving. Now I can't open illustrator at all...so nothing left to do then reinstalling again I suppose?

Place signature not working on some pdf documents

When I place signature on a document, adobe reader lets me drag a box for the area I want signed, brings up Sign Document box, accepts my password for the digital signature, and asks for a file name for the signed document, and saves the signed document. The only thing is that my signature does not show up at any point on the document. This happens on about 5% of the pdf files that people send me. (the other 95% work just fine). Even using save-as on the file prior to signing or printing the document to a new file (using cutepdf), does not allow me to place a signature on any files created from the original pdf. The only thing that works is if I print the file on paper and then scan it back into my computer - then it will let me sign the newly scanned document.
How do I fix this?

Is it the same document where Find worked earlier, but not now?
Note that Find can only work on text documents; it does not work with scanned documents, unless Acrobat has performed text recognition on the scanned image.

'Shared Places' are not working

I have a network at home.
We have one MacBookPro, one HP with WindowsXP and my iMac.
Everything was working properly, we would share folders so we can take files from one computer to the other through the network.
From one day to the other my Shared Places in Finder is gone and i can't see any shared places in my iMac.
everything is working perfectly on the other computers, so there's got to be something with my iMac settings.
*Any ideas?*
+FYI: I already checked,. Finder > Preferences > Side Bar > Shared (everything is checked) so it should show them.+

The problem is with the way that OS X deals with IPv6. Some networks don't properly support IPv6 and this seems to confuse the Finder especially if you have a laptop that sleeps between different networks or works without a network at all. The solution is to tell OS X not to use IPv6, flush the directory services cache and then restart the Finder. If you not really sure how to do this then hopefully this will help (but the experts should know how to do it all from the command line).
*Turn off IPv6:*
Go to System Preferences, Network and select your current network type. Authenticate if there is a padlock showing. Click on Advanced. In the TCP/IP tab, set "Configure IPv6" to off.
*Flush cache:*
In the terminal type "dscacheutil -flushcache". If it won't allow you then you need to do this with root privileges so type "sudo dscacheutil -flushcache" and supply your password when requested.
*Restart Finder:*
From the Apple Menu, choose "Force Quit…", select "Finder" and click on "Relaunch"

Edit in place documents not working in beehive team collaboration w/IE

I know the Chrome,Firefox browsers don't have an edit-in-place, but IE is supposed to map the network drive via webdav and uses this as a back channel to save the changes on saving the document.
This was working very well on my old laptop using a 32 bit windows, and an older IE platform. probably 95% of the time.
Since my upgrade to Windows 7, 64-bit, IE 8.0.7601, it works about 20% of the time. Very unreliable. Does anyone know what can be done to get this to work more consistently?

After much testing, I realized that on the FCSr machine that it indeed had edit-in-place status because of the storage directly attached to it. BUT the other client computers did not.
So basically, since we don't have the $1000 a seat for XSAN and we are only cutting DV and DVCPRO HD...
We could configure our Mac Pro Server to be an AFP share over the network; it's plenty fast over Ethernet since it's aggregated over 6 gigabit ports to a switch and has PCIe RAID storage attached. We could give this edit-in-place status IF...
We used another machine (server class) to install FCSr on.
This would work right?

Why Toshiba places is not working?

two days ago Toshiba Places stop working on my TV 40TL939. No changes in internet connection
Restering settings give no effect. Internet connection testing ok.
Is it TV bug or your sever down?

Its looks like the service is temporally no available.
Probably server is down due to some maintenance.

JRE 7 Patch-in-Place Configuration not working as documented

According to all of the documentation I have read, the default JRE installation mode is patch-in-place.

However, after either manually installing JRE 7 to a specific installation directory (e.g. not on C:), or by specyfying the the INSTALLDIR on the command line, a subsequent JRE 7 update will uninstall the previous JRE from the desired installation location and install the current JRE in the default location (i.e. C:\Program Files\Java\jre7).
Is there some magic installer switch, registry entry, configuration file, etc. that will force the JRE installer to upgrade the existing installation in its existing location?
Note - these are not static instllations. Also, I am working with the 64-bit version; I don't know if the same applies to the 32-bit version, as I have not tested it because I require the 64-bit version.

At this site there is an explanation of this issue: probably LabVIEW don't support partial scrolling.
If I understood what they write, in Intellimouse 8.0 and above, Microsoft implemented a kind of patch for applications that don't support partial scrolling.
And so without Intellimouse, none of these applications supports partial scrolling.
I'll try to install the latest version of Intellimouse, but I think NI developers should patch LabVIEW to support partial scrolling. On the same site MS gives a link to the MSDN information dedicated to developers on how to handle partial scrolling.

IPhoto 11 Version 9.2.1 Places does not work. Says I am not connected to the internet when I am!

Wanted to see if anyone could help with this issue I am having. Did a few searches but most of the problems I found related to older versions of iPhoto. When I click on Places it says that I am not connected to the internet when I clearly am connected. Anyone heard of this or have a solution? Thank you!

I'm afraid I don't have much to add other than to say this is happening to me too. However, it is not consistent. Sometimes I get iPhoto Places to connect and show location, and other times (on the same photo with gps tag) it will say not connnected. I too saw the earlier reports of this problem, and also that it was fixed in v8.0.1 of iPhoto.
Currently running iPhoto v9.2.1, and connecting via wifi.

Not working places

There was a problem bought a macbook pro 13, installed all the latest updates, I started in iphoto was to create a library, but the function of places does not work, does not load google map

I have been experiencing exactly the same problem. Sometimes quitting and restarting iPhoto does the trick, but not always. Places is completely blank (no map) and all locations in photo info are missing. When this issue happens, I also notice that I'm unable to use the "Share to Facebook" feature. When I try this, I get a popup error "Could not connect to the server".

E 71 is not working properly...

I was very happy and could connect the phone in Dublin in the central library (free wifi), and went to spain with my phone....everything was working well , but since 2 days ago I have been tried to connect ( the same , library ) , and is not working. I tried several times in different places and not working. Could somebody help me ? Was an expensive phone and I would like it working well.... thanks

My apps r all gone and install button not working

after connecting to the itunes store, all my apps i had downloaded before all disappeared. My account is still there though..is there anyway to get it back?ohh and also the install button in the app purchasing place is not working.How can i fix it?Thanks

This is also happening to me and I am glad to read that it's not just my phone. I have also tried rebooting the phone, and it doesn't work. It's a minor annoyance but I wish it could be fixed.
