Hi there to all you Flash guru's from a lowly (LOL)
Captivator with minimal flash talent.
Hope I am posting in the correct category here, but my
question is as follows:
I have seen an output showing a menu of about 10 items that
link to various movies and scenes. Now the great part is that when
I select a menu item and return to the menu after viewing content,
there is a tick mark next to that menu item that I initially
selected. Great way of showing where I've been already. My problem
is HOW is this done???

It's usually just some movie clip (which makes up the "tick"
graphic) whose position is moved through action script depending on
where you click. Do you have the example you are talking about?

Place marker during capture

I have looked everywhere for an answer to this question, and I am starting to think it is not possible in any way, but I want to be able to place a marker in to a clip while I am capturing it live.
I spend a lot of time on set capturing a live HD feed from cameras. This footage is often required to be played back immediately after a take to check performance etc but we don't want to have to do it off the camera each time so it is captured in to Premiere CS5 on a laptop. In Avid you can set markers during the capture. I want to do this in Premiere so I can cut out all the guff at the head of the take like slating etc and also there is also often multiple repeats of a performance in one take so I want to be able to mark when each performance starts. I can't seem to find a way of doing this.
Any ideas? Is there something turbo comment (on location) for premiere pro?
I would possibly do the capture in on location but very often I need to change the speed of playback to watch what the take is going to look like at other frame rates and on location doesn't seem to be able to play things back with a speed change or in reverse.
If someone knows how to do that in on location then that might also solve my problem.

How to make & place marks above and below text

I need to make dots and curves (this is for a type of music notation) and place them over and under letters and groups of letters. Any suggestions for the best method in InDesign CS5?

You're right, I'm doing north Indian notation, not related to western staff. I laid out a whole lot in Word, foolishly, and now have to redo it all in ID for publication. I'm impressed that you have a

Place marker during recording and place back markers

Hi,
I will be recording 5 channels of signals at rate of 200 samples/second for 1 hour or so. Meanwhile, I need to put markers for different user interventions. I would like to save in text file for other applications such as MS Excel. What would be a good format for the data file? One way would be keep adding NaN in an extra column and a message when the user enter a message and press a button. But it takes some space for the extra column and don't konw if other applications can read this column correctly. At the same time when the intervention occurs, need to draw a marker on the screen, and when VI is stopped, these markers need to be back-trackable when scrolling back.
Also, the data file may need a header that keeps track of all interventions in addition to the extra column. At the end, the header needs to join the data record to form the final data file. When playback, theses interventions show markers again on the screen. Also, the data file may need to be appendable.
Any suggestions and/or examples are appreciated. Thanks,

So you would be talkinga bout 1000 pieces of data per second, x 60 sec/min, x 60/min per hour. So 3.6 million pieces of data per hour. Lets say 8 bytes per piece of data (depends on how you want to format the numeric value to a string). So about 28.8 MB of data for one hour. That isn't too large. I would use a text based file format such as comma or tab delimited with CRLF at the end. You could have 6th column that would either be blank or have the text note. Excel should be able to open either of these just fine. It would be a good idea to write the data using a producer/consumer architecture. Accumulate the data to memory in chunks, and periodically write out the chunks to file.
I don't understand what you mean by drawing a marker on screen. Do you mean have some X show up on a waveform graph? If so you could create a 6th series of data with Nan interlaced with a numeric value such as 1 (no line and an X or other highly visible data point) or someother value that shows up well on the graph considering the scale of the other values. There won't be any easy way to associate an X with a text comment other than displaying the text in a string indicator and picking it out of the array depending on which portion of the data is shown on the graph at that time.

Erratic Movement of Marker Pins in iPhoto 9.5 for Mac

Newest version of iPhoto with Apple Maps seems to have a real problem when trying to manually place marker pins with precision in small Places map (i.e. - fine-tune location). New pop-up-and-place-down routine in software seems to be VERY vulnerable to erratic jumps, especially vertical, when trying to fine tune location manually. Pin can end up miles from intended spot, even when starting from zoomed-in location!
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know a fix for it?

I have been having the same issue - but with iPhoto '09 (v8.1.2). I used to be able to use the mouse to swipe across the map to go after a certain place rather easily, but now after a small swipe the map area stays in place or moves very slightly. I have to hold the mouse down and move it very far on the screen to have a new area show without it snapping back. When zoomed in, the swipe barely works at all.
It is very aggravating especially since I want to place pins manually much of the time instead of typing in a city (since the locations aren't in a city).
The issue started happening for me about the same time, I believe.

How to issue the non stock material to the customer place through delivery?

Dear All,
I have created a service order with one operation,and for executing the operation i need one spares material which should be sent to the customer place.So i put that as non stock item in the line item of the order.
Result : It Creates PR with account assignment and with reference to the PR i craeate a PO with the same account assignment order.
Now when i take MIGO against the PO,it is directly consumed to the order,wherein i have to send that material to the customer place and then consume.
How can i handle this process.

The material which u sending to Customer place mark those item as return in Purchase order and then do Goods movement by 161. If that material is non val. then No Accounting will generate.

What happened to adding crop, bleed, print marks and color bars to a document?

You can create two types of trim marks in Illy CS6.
For either, select all the objects you want within the trim marks. One type is available from the Object menu and creates a group of the marks based upon the bounding box and are offset just as the marks are when you create a PDF.
The second option is (again with the object(s) selected) is available from the effects menu. These are a live effect and change dimension as the art is resized. Using this option, Illy places marks around each and every object unless you group all the objects. Once ungrouped, the marks are removed. These marks are also aligned precisely on the objects' bounding box instead of being offset.

Finding place where left off on audiobook

I've imported audiobooks from CD to my nano. When switching from the audiobook to music, my place on the audiobook is not saved when I try to go back to if from the music. I usually can't remember which track I was on while listening to the audiobook. Is there a setting I can change to keep my place marked?

With audiobooks, you can have your iPod remember where you were on the track. Go into iTunes, and select the entire book (all the tracks). Right-click (PC user), and select "Get info". Click on the "Options" tab. Check the box next to "remember playback position" and click Ok.
That should do it. If you can't remember the track you were on, though, you'll just have to scroll through them until you get to the one that's not at the very beginning...that's the one you were on.

After FF28 installed, my history & bookmarks are missing just like #981577 I've tried everything!

I've had this problem for about 5 days, it may have happened prior to that, perhaps as early as 4/23/14 but I'm not well (inoperable brain cancer) and just began using my laptop again about 5 days ago. I became aware of the problems about 5 days ago, during which I have tried searching the Mozilla support forums and the web for some clue as to what else I can try, hence the reference to question #981577, which looks like it could have been written by me (my saved passwords no longer work, and I can't open add-ons now, but for the last few days I could use add-ons - the ones for sql lite, but I just tried the troubleshooter add-on listed at the bottom of this page and I can't utilize it, which happened to me earlier today when I downloaded an add-on, I clicked the orange FF button on the top left, then clicked on Add-Ons and it only goes so far as to reach the Add-Ons manager, but nothing happens when you click the Add-On you're trying to use - if it even shows up - it only shows a place marker page with "Disable" and "Remove" - I thought the problem was with the other Add-On I tried because it was over a year old and maybe it just didn't work. Somehow I think that the Firefox Menu Bar with the Orange Firefox button and other tool bars might be part of the problem. If I click on the Navigation Tool Bar and I click on the Bookmarks Button that I added to the bar, it will drop down and show me bookmarked pages (maybe 15) that aren't sorted like my missing ones. If I click "Show All Bookmarks" it opens the window labeled LIBRARY which shows on the left side of the screen. Inside the Library window is a toolbar with fwd bkwk grayed out/can't use, then organize, then views, then Import and Backup - then a box that's Search Bookmarks with a magnifying glass. Below the tool bar is a left screen section with an icon like a book that reads All Bookmarks, there are no bookmarks listed under that heading, and nothing happens if you click it like a button/command. On the right hand side there are two sections, the first section on the right hand side and upper portion under the toolbar is an area with Name and Location headings, and below show the 3 recent Bookmarks I have added lately. Right below the previous section is the heading Name: and then a blank search box. If I click "Show All" when working with Bookmarks OR Toolbars, they somehow default to a blank LIBRARY window. When I click the History area from the Firefox Orange button, it shows several recent websites, when I click Show All - nothing, I just and when I click on Bookmarks, there are several bookmarks that I have made today showing up, BUT NONE of these bookmarks show up in the LIBRARY window when I click Show All. I want to add that I get the same results when I use the Firefox Orange Button Toolbar as opposed to the original Menu toolbar. I have completed every task mentioned in the conversation of question #981577, and for the most part, I have repeated the steps three times each, with additional exits from Firefox and powering down my pc in between for good measure. I have also used Windows System Restore twice with no results, as well as attempting to "downgrade" my version of Firefox to 24 and 27 (which I know is not a recommended step and the first attempt resulted in downloading Firefox 28, which I was already running, and the second time, nothing restored or magically appeared, so I did an un-install and did a clean install of Firefox 28 from the download link on the Mozilla site. There is no indication that the other support-user had her question/ticket answered/resolved. The support communication spanned from 12/26-12/27/13. I wished that the previous conversation had taken place more recently, because it may point to a problem with FF28, but I don't know if it was released back in December. Here is the question/problem from the original poster, and I HAVE taken all of the steps as suggested by the support representative that assisted her.
I would be so grateful to have my bookmarks back because they are my lifeline, and I think I have/had more than 3,500 links. As far as my history, I never delete anything (bookmarks included). I know there must have been thousands of visited websites that I have saved. Thanks to everyone who took a look at my problems with missing/lost Library, History, Bookmarks, Downloads, and Passwords files after the Firefox 28 Update (the automated one), especially Debapriyo. Debapriyo, your suggestion was one of the first I tried over four days ago, but I did re-try it each day, and twice today (this morning, and again after I posted my support issue on here). Unfortunately, every time I tried it, I would click start, and I would almost always see the screen flash slightly, then at the top of the window where it says "Library" it would say something like "the program is not responding" and then...nothing, and nothing on "My Computer" showed any changes. I also used Places Management and Places Maintenance to make sure that the files were in my Profile Folder, etc., and I kept getting a clean Places Management with a Deep Check, and I double checked the tables on Places Maintenance - both of these programs as well as Restoration were recommended in previous replies to inquiries similar to mine. In addition to restoring my computer, I did a "Reset" on Firefox that created a new Profile name which is used where my FF files are stored. I think this may have contributed to my eventual success.
Finally, I tried the trick of backing up necessary files into a different folder, then changing the name of the "Places SQL?" I forget the second part of the file name (I blame my brain tumor for my short-term memory issues - really) I think that's the name, so I changed the name. I then clicked File, then Exit and it closed Fire Fox. I was very reluctant to use this method to solve my issues, but after about 4-5 attempts using this, my bookmarks showed up - not just the ones that fit into the drop down box and would only save to Un-Sorted Bookmarks in the Library, it finally showed up exactly as it did before the problems. I found that by using the Menu Toolbar alternately removing it and looking at Orange Button Menu in the top left of the screen it seems like the SQL info is not flowing to both menus the same way. If I clicked on the Orange Button Menu, it started by listing 3-4 websites as Bookmarks. If I used the Menu Toolbar Bookmarks button, it would list Bookmarks to the bottom of that dropdown - about 15 websites (which is crazy for both because I actually have 4,200 bookmarks). I was so frustrated though by clicking All Bookmarks or All History and the pop up window for Library would say "there are no files." I don't really know the final answer or what solved my problems, but I've stayed awake almost an entire 4 days awake trying to fix this, and now it looks likes like I"ve managed to fix it 99.9%, and I'm done with it - I can't take any more. I think my brain tumor has grown it's own tumor over this - I'm definitely no IT expert, that's for sure. Thanks Again!

}My problem, as implied by the subject, is that when outputting the contents of this list after the 6 operations, only prependItem is being shown. Bear in mind that we were given all the code (degree course at uni) other than the prepend method, the append method, and all other places marked 'TBD'.
Any help would be appreciated. I think what is happening is that 'list' doesn't know it has these extra items on the end, although I thought list.setTail(t) should have sorted that.

You're not linking the previous tail with this new item you're trying to append.
This is not a Java related question. It is an algorithm question. You don't have your algorithm correct, and we're not here to do your homework for you.

Satellite A200 - Need driver for CD/DVD drive

Hey folks.
Recently installed WXP Pro on my A200 PSAEC laptop, so I'm now dual booting XP and Vista on my laptop.
Problem is, I've got all the drivers working on XP and everything's running perfect, but when I tried to burn a DVD, Nero says the recorder can't burn DVDs. In "My Computer" the drive shows as a DVD-RW drive, but when I insert a blank DVD, it says CD Drive. The drive shows up as "TCSDcor' CD/DVDW TC-L6#2D" in device manager. I've searched around for a driver, but can't find an exact match for that drive and there's no optical drive drivers on this Toshiba site driver section. The only thing I've found is an executable file for upgrading the firmware, but it throws an error saying it's the wrong drive.
Anyone got any ideas?

Toshiba European driver page provides three different firmware updates for Satellite A200 PSAEC series:
TO02 for CD/DVD drive TS-L632
TO02 - for CD/DVD drive TS-L632P
(This firmware solves some problems of the optical disc drive.)
TO03 - for CD/DVD drive TS-L632H
(This firmware solves some problems of the optical disc drive.)
Im not quite sure what TO0$ means but I think the sign $ is only a free variable parameter (place marker).
If you want to check your current firmware then you could check it using the Nero Info Tool

Why can I now highlight text with mouse pointer in Adobe Reader 9

I just downloaded Adobe Reader X. I think I prefer Reader 9. I don't like being able to click in the document and have a flashing place mark (right terminology?) there. This is now happening in the Reader 9 version too, and I can copy text this way, but I don't want this. I didn't change any preferences. Can anyone help?

Like I said, I didn't change any of the preferences, so I don't know why this happened. I think it only happened after I opened Adobe Reader X. I see no options in preferences for turning on or off the ability to highlight text with your mouse pointer, and I thought you were not supposed to be able to do this in Adobe Reader 9.

Can't use iphone AND ipad

So I just figured out how to check out and download ebooks/audiobooks from the library to my iphone. Very cool indeed and works well on the iphone, however I can't get the same access on my ipad. I have an Adobe ID. In the overdrive app, I have spefied that the ipad is authorized as well so I don't understand why the books I checked out don't show up there. Also, I downloaded and authorized, the Adobe Digital Editions app for my Macbook and it doesn't see any of my books either. What is the point of an Adobe ID if it doesn't store and allow me access to the media I needed the login for in the first place????

I'm still seeing an underlying thread of what I think is a
misunderstanding.....
What requires a sign-in with your Adobe ID? Access to ebooks on the iPad
and iPhone? I'm not aware of this, as Apple has developed the applications
for epublications that are working on those devices. So - are you saying
something else?
Your MAC applications will work well - they do for others who use the
ADE/MAC applications, so I have to ask you how you've been trying to use
the application, and whether it's set up properly (no offense - it's just
not clear what you've done so we'd be able to give you some advice on what
to do next). You would use ADE on the MAC the same way you would use it on
a PC: start the application and go from there. When you do transfers from
ebook sites (libraries, ebookstores, etc.), the ebooks should be placed in
your ADE library on the MAC. If this is what you do and nothing is
transferred, check the security settings to make sure that your operating
system is going to let file transfers from that site through the
firewall.... I am using PC terms because I'm not a really good MAC guy, so
pardon me for being a bit 'off' on this point.
Amazon has chosen to implement their Kindle using significantly different
methods from others, and tying the Kindle to the Amazon site for ebook
purchases. Some libraries - not all - use features in the Overdrive
software that will interact directly with the Kindle, but many do not. You
can try talking with your library's technical support function to find out
whether you're in luck.
Libraries loan ebooks on a 1:1 basis. That means you download them from
the library to one location once. That's the way their Overdrive software
is set up. Once downloaded to a computer, if the DRM settings allow it,
you can copy it over to an ebook reader. So, I'm not sure what you mean by
being able to download it to more than one device unless it's this
capability.
You should be able to set a 'place mark' in an ebook so that you can pick
up where you leave off. Depending on the device, it's either a bookmark,
placemark or earmark (not the Federal kind). Some devices do this
automagically when you turn off the device - some do not. Placemark
information is carried with the ebook in a portion of the data file
attached to the ebook. If it ain't working, then it's probably a
'compatibiltiy issue', as the programmers like to say, between devices.
That's not an ADE issue - unless you're using ADE to read the ebook. If
so, you should contact Adobe's help line and report the problem.....

I am working with ID CS2. I've got multilayer documents for multilingual documentation (i.e.1st layer English, 2nd layer French,...) Each layer contains its own TOC. So far so good. To create a monolingual PDF I am hiding all the layers but the one of the language needed (plus the one containing pictures and so on...). The PDF itself contains only the visible layers (great!) but all TOC's of all ID layers keep appearing as bookmarks in the PDF document! When converting to PDF, the option to include non-printable objects is deselected. So far I am deleting the surplus bookmarks in the PDF manually which is quite cumbersome.
How can I manage to get only the TOC of the visible layer as bookmarks in the PDF document?

That seems to be missed by the programmers. The bookmarks are added because you have the option checked in your TOC. But these bookmarks aren't "hot"; they appear immediately in the bookmarks panel, and stay there until you physically delete the bookmark place marker or remove them from the bookmark panel. I'm assuming (untested) that in the bookmark panel you see
i all
language entries at once.
The bookmark texts aren't "hot" either; if you change a heading, the bookmark stays the same until (presumably) you regenerate the entire TOC.
