Place MultiPage PDF creates envelope size pages only

I know I somehow changed my default settings so I quit out of ID. I start it up, I select default (8.5 x 11), new doc opens. I open script and select place Multipage PDF. By default, new doc is first option, I select it and I end up with a multipage ID file at 9.5 x 4.125. Huh? I quit ID again, start it. Default page size is LH. What gives with the script? I don't want to reset my prefs if I can avoid it since I have everything perfect. I want 8.5 x 11 to be my default file size when placing multipage PDF.

Hi Richard, Al,
The script (assuming that this is PlaceMultipagePDF.jsx or .applescript that was installed with CS3) does nothing to change your page size--it just uses the default page size. You have somehow changed your default page size. To get it back to Letter, close all documents, then Choose Document Setup from the File menu and set the default there (not in the New Document dialog box).
If this is some other script with the same name, then I don't know what's going on.
Thanks,
Ole

  • Placing multipage PDF, 4 to a page

    Ive done this before but couldnt find my post about it with the answer.  But I have a multipage PDF and want to place it into an ID document, 4 to a page.  I remember the steps had me place 4 rectangle frames into the master page.  Then place the PDF carrying all the pages.  The next step I cant remember somehow I needed to link these boxes in the order they would place, then place the multiple pages by holding down a key when I click.  It would then generate as many pages as necessary till it ran out of PDF pages to place.  I also know this wasnt a script at all but a normal ID function.  What is the step Im missing?

    As for placing multiple images per page, I have used the Scott Zanneli's script, running it four times in this scenerio and changing the offsets. I don't recomend it. Kinda got me cross eyed, but working with a facing pages doc did not help.
    I just used it day before yesterday to make a 4-up sheet for printing a small directory. Easy as pie. Run 4 times  changing the page position rom top left to top right to bottom left to bottom right (and I added 180 degree rotation to the two bottom runs to put all the page numbers in the middle so I'd be sure they were in the printable area). Didn't touch the offset fields at all.

  • Question - create pdf with multiple size pages

    Is there a way to create a pdf from a book file with multiple size pages? Frame 11

    Theoretically possible by component file, but not within a single file.

  • Acrobat 8.1 PDFmaker won't print envelope size pages

    Vista Home Premium 32-bit
    Acrobat 8.1.3 Professional
    Word 2007
    I create mail-merged #10 envelopes in Word 2007 and then use PDFmaker to create a PDF of the result of the mail-merge. The resulting PDF has a number of pages each the size of a #10 envelope.
    This has worked for years, until today.
    Now, the pages in the PDF created from PDFmaker are 8.5"x11" with the "envelope area" centered in the document.
    I can not find any possible reason for this or any solution in this forum - I have tried a number of solutions for other problems listed in this forum and this has not fixed the problem.

    Have you checked if the Adobe PDF printer has Envelope 10 paper size.
    if it doesn't exist:
    From Control Panel>Printers>Adobe PDF
    Right click, select Printing Preferneces
    Adobe PDF Page Size -> Press Add
    Create a new paper size with following details:
    Paper name: Envelope 10
    Width: 10.375 inches
    Height: 4.5 inches.

  • When placing a PDF created with Distiller, I only get Crop and Media as import options -- I need it to crop to the Trim! PLEASE HELP!

    I'm having a MAJOR problem placing PDF files in InDesign CS4...
    When I try to place a PDF that has been created in Distiller, the ONLY import options I can choose are CROP and MEDIA. I need it to crop to the TRIM, but that option is grayed out. The PDFs I'm trying to place were created in-house, and converted from Post Script files to PDFs using Distiller. We use PDF/X-1a equivalent settings when creating our PDFs.
    If I export the file as a PDF and then try to place it into a CS4 file, I am able to select Trim as an option.
    ALSO, if I open the Distiller PDF in Acrobat and then save it (without changing anything), I am able to select Trim as an option. A workaround I have found is to open all of the PDF files in Acrobat, save them to my desktop, and then save over the ones I need to place. Here's the problem with that: I work for a publishing company, and need to place hundreds of ads for each issue of our publications, and it adds a lot of time if I have to go and re-save everything just to be able to place all the ads.
    Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I need to get this figured out so we can use CS4 for all of our publications again. -- We've gone back to using CS3 until I can get this figured out...

    Steve,
    Thanks for the reply, but my PDFs all have trim boxes on them. If I try to place the same PDF in InDesign CS3, it gives me Trim as an option. Also, if I open the PDF and save a copy to my desktop, I am able to select Trim as an option when placing the PDF, and I didn't change anything about it.
    I've been trying to see if it's something with the Print Preset settings I'm using, but I can't find anything that seems like it would affect how InDesign would read the Trim area of the PDF.
    I've attached 2 PDF files. One that was created with Distiller, and one that was exported from InDesign CS4. The Distiller one doesn't show Trim as an option in CS4, but the exported one does.... but they started out as the same ad.  Ugh!  Help me please!

  • Reducing pdf dimensions (to show pages only)

    I have a book made into an acrobat PDF (version 1.6 made in Acrobat 7). The PDF was made via one double page SPREAD of the original book is equal to one page of the PDF.
    Is there a way to cut the pages of the entire pdf, increasing the number of pages, so I can see only one book page per one pdf page? Or do I have to do this manually, like crop spreads to make single pages in Photoshop, then into Quark, then a pdf?

    Paul, ok, I have successfully duplicated the body within the document and followed your crop right/odd only and crop left/even only instructions. Do I now manually move pages into proper order? Every two pages are out of order. I am drag and dropping to get them in order, or did I crop the spreads wrong?  John

  • How do I create envelopes in Pages using Numbers as the source?

    I've done this successfully before back in 2011 when I was sending out Holiday Cards.  Now I go in there today looking to use the same envelope template and an updated (not everybody lives in the same location) Numbers spreadsheet and I keep getting..."Please select a numbers document that has one or more named header columns and one or more rows of data".  The numbers file has 6 header columns (FN, LN, Address, City, State & Zip) and 77 rows of data.  I've tried to recreate the file under a different name, I've deleted and reinserted the header columns, etc and nothing has worked.  I'm now at the point where I'm toying with the idea of pulling the plug on the Holiday Card all together unless somebody could save the day.  PS...their is a holiday card in it for you
    Please help..

    Fair enough...it sounds like the Holiday cards will be put on pause until 2014.
    On a different note, I'm noticing all sorts of issues with the OS...are you finding that Mavericks is less stable than prior versions of the OS?  The entire reason I went away from Windows based PC's was because of the instability of the OS and now I'm finding that the stability of the Apple OS is starting to follow the same path.
    Thoughts?

  • Import MultiPage PDF nested equally on single page

    Hello,
    I have had a scout around on the net but cannot find anything so far on the subject topic and I wondered if anyone here knows of its existence.
    I need a script that will allow me to import a multipage PDF into one large page. I need each import to be equally spaced on the page so the individual pages are laid out in a grid format. (I am creating print and cut files for double sided prints with bespoke cutting)
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Matt

    If i had a pile of pdf's to place on a page i would...
    Layout a template with place holder rectangles on the page where you want the pdfs to be locking them in possition, Assign these rectangles an image content so that when you have your cursor loaded with the pdf you option click and the pdfs get placed into the rectangles.

    How to I get multipage pdf file placed in my document to conform to the document that I set up?  I have InDesign cc and the pdf pages are placed outside of my document?

    Hi Rave,
    InDesign cc couldn't open the script, I get an error message that it is not a supported file type.  I tried this first before using the "place multipage pdf" in my InDesign document.  The script which comes with InDesign cc works, but places the pages outside of the document.  That's what I'm trying to figure out how to do.  I had no trouble doing this in PageMaker 15 years ago.  I don't know why it doesn't work on my computer??

  • Place multiple PDF files (or a folder of PDF files) into one InDesign document

    Hi,
    I know there are several scripts to place multipage Pdf's in InDesign.
    Based on those scripts I made one myself which places a PDF file with multiple pages as an InLine graphic where the name of the PDF file is inserted as a heading.
    Works great. But when I want to import 20 PDF files I have to run that script 20 times which isn't handy.
    So I'm looking for a way to choose a folder in which are several PDF-files that will be placed inside 1 ID doc.
    Any suggestions?

    Use .selectDlg():
    function getPDFs(){
        var f = someFolder.selectDlg ('Select a folder')
        if (f != null){
            return f.getFiles('*.pdf');
        return [];

  • How to create a 4 page pdf from images - each page should open at same size

    How do I create a 4 page pdf (from 4 images - all the same size) that opens each page at  full page size?
    Thank you so much.

    PREVIOUS MSG:
    My goal is to create multi page pdfs that are created from images (scans of old brochures).  I receive images (scans of pages) all at the same size.
    I have been able to create the 4 pdfs (each opens at full page size) and merge into 1 pdf.  When I open that final pdf, I  see a column of 4 pages, page 1 image being larger than the remaining 3. When I  click on the left, page 1, icon,  I get the full page.  When I click on icons for pages 2 - 4, I get nothing.  The only way I can get the other pages in a full page view is to adjust the scaling after left icon is selected.  That is not what I want.
    How I created the files.
    I can either create pdf pages using Photoshop, or using Acrobat Pro itself through:
    File> Create PDF> From File and adding each of the images.  I then, for each, choose Properties> Initial View> Fit Page> Save. Then I use File> Combine> Merge Files into Single PDF> Save.
    Then I open the multi page pdf.
    I appreciate any help.
    Thank you,

    It seems to me what you want to do is create one document which a combination of all four  and then one page of each.
    To create a Document with 4 pages combined in to one PDF.  open the first in a Series the to Edit menu and click on add pages click on next document (browse to document first) the choose attach to to end of document or add to  end of document. Repeat until you get all images added. They will end up (or should ) center in center of their own page. Save this document with a new name for now.
    Next go back to Photo shop and reduce size of images to fit desired sheet of paper (8-1/2 by 11, 8-1/2 by 14, whatever) place them side by side and row by row so you have 4 images on one page.
    now save as Pdf.
    now decide which you want to swap to the Thumbnails (the 4 on one page, or 4 individual pages.  I would use the thumbnails and make each a button that references the page in the document you save as a 4 page pdf that applies.
    Then on that page write a line saying click each illustration to see full size image (you might have to write this line while in Photoshop) then save this as PDF file
    Try out. You might have to use some javascript controls to do this. But I am not experienced in JavaScript to do this. I'm sure it cane be done.
    But note you will have to save both documents with the Thumbnails and the four page and Thumbnail page in a folder and send to prospect
    If you want just four separate pages in one Pdf just do first two paragraphs above

  • In LIVECYCLE DESIGNER how do I code a submit button to only submit one page of a multipage PDF

    I have a multipage PDF I've designed in Livecycle and have print and submit buttons on each unique form in the document. I am able to create code (which I've copied from someplace) that allows only one page to print but when I click the submit button it wants to submit the entire document.  PS - I created the Submit from the blank button and have it set to submit PDF not XML.

    I don't think you can submit just a page of your PDF like you printed just a page. The difference is that when you print, the PDF becomes dots on paper, while when you submit a PDF it must remain completely intact to be machine readable, especially since the forms on a LiveCycle (XFA) document can have complex dependencies between pages.

  • Hello.  May I ask:  I am using Acrobat 6.0.2, and having trouble formatting a PDF created from multiple (jpeg) files.  Each page is formatted to A4 size, portrait.  But when I create the PDF, each sheet appears as tiny, in the middle of a huge white page.

    Hello.  May I ask:  I am using Acrobat 6.0.2, and having trouble formatting a PDF created from multiple (jpeg) files.  Each page is formatted to A4 size, portrait.  But when I create the PDF, each sheet appears as tiny, in the middle of a huge white page.  I cannot seem to find any controls to adjust this.  Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks CtDave, for the further info.  Unfortunately, those suggestions are not working, which is strange.
    ....Until last week, I used to make multi-page PDFs straight from Photoshop: File > Automate > Make PDF.  One simply choses the files, orders them, and creates a PDF.  (Resolution doesn't matter; 300 DPI is no problem.)  However, my new Photoshop CS5 does not have the option in Automate.
    What I've done, seeing as Acrobat is letting me down, is use Bridge (new to me) to create the PDF.  It worked without a problem, but seems like more work than the old PS method.  I will download a newer version of Acrobat to see if that makes any difference.
    .....Also, thanks Test Screen Name:  I agree with you that jpeg is irrelevant, and that one can make a PDF from Photoshop (Print > Save As - pdf).  But that only works for SINGLE PAGE pdf, not multiple pages as far as I can tell.
    Kind regards,

  • Creating PDFs using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and can only see the first 10 pages in PDF even when the page numbers on bottom state 10 of 13 (or any number greater than 10).

    PDFs create great, unless they should be over 10 pages and then it appears the data was converted to PDF by viewing the page numbers at the bottom of the PDF but you can only view the first 10 pages in the pdf file.

    Hi stephaniec0103,
    Could you please let me know what exact dot version of Acrobat 9 and OS you are using.
    Have you tried repairing Acrobat from the Help menu?
    Acrobat 9 is an older version and incompatible with new OS versions, so I would suggest you to try using Acrobat XI (latest version) and check for the same.
    You may download a 30-day free trial version of Acrobat from the below mentioned link:
    Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat XI Professional
    Let me know how it goes.
