Place new photos in sub folder

In Lightroom 3, I am having trouble with the importing location. Lightroom is automaticly placing my photos in a new subfolder even when the subfolder checkmark is off. I select my folder, make sure that it shows correctly and then import. Then when I look for it, there is a new subfolder which I don't want. How can I change that?
FYI: I recently installed my Lightroom 3 on a new computer and thought I had everything as it was. And I moved the catalog files over from the old computer.

You can't put images into a Smart Album - there are no Smart Folders in iPhoto at all.
A Smart Album is the result of a search - say 'find all the photos with the keyword "landscape"'. So, any image with that keyword will be found and shown in the Smart Album. As photos are tagged with the keyword they will be added to the Smart Album. To get photos out of the Smart Album you need to remove the tag.
What you can't do is drag images to a Smart Album. Either they answer the question asked or they don't.
So, what settings are you using for your Smart Album?

Find the old Aperture library in the Finder and double click it to launch Aperture with that library set to the default.
And check your caps look key. It appears to be stuck.

Photo album & sub-folder issue

Good evening. Just upgraded to iLife 09. All went well except iWeb. Post-upgrade I see all my image folders, organized by country (for example, India) with sub-folders branching off for each city visited.
Problem: the India folder is missing the sub-folder content. The sub-folders have all their content but the "main" folder to click for sub-folder images simply displays "drag albums here."
Tried dragging the subs to the main, no-go. The "drag albums here" window does a pretty cool evasive dance when I attempt this. Simply dropping the folder gives no result.
Any ideas? I can recreate but that's a hours-long job.

Impossible to import photos in 'Synchronize Folder' dialog. Bug?

When I try to synchronize a particular folder in LR3, the dialog says there are 16 new photos in that folder. On the import screen however, these photos are only shown if I uncheck the 'Don't import Suspected Duplicates' tickbox. If I do that and import the photos's, they indeed show up double in the database. But, if I tick that box, no photo's for import are shown.
I can find these photo's in LR using the filename. When I then use the 'Locate in Explorer' dialog in LR, they all ARE in that particular folder. Is this a bug? Is there a workaround? How do I get these photo's to show up in that folder?

I upgraded to Lightroom 5.7 and I can do the import of the pictures.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

Of course. To do it, open a Finder window, go to Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > General, and untick "Open folders in tabs instead of new windows".

Connect the two Macs using FireWire Target Disk Mode http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
Then just drag the folder from your old Mac to your new Mac (it depends which you use for target and which for source, but one will show up as a HD icon on the desktop of the other; you can copy to/from that HD to/from the other Mac (the folder on your desktop).

When she sync'd her photos originally, it had them in the folders she wanted. Please check ULS log for more useful information when this error occurs.
Please also check if this issue could be reprodued in other libraries, if not, you can use the new library instead.

That version cannot be upgraded further if it's a 2G model. The 3G model can be upgraded to iOS 5.x.x. You can't have a 2G model because the maximum iOS version is 4.2.1.

You can, but I would wait, until you have have been working with Photos for some time and are sure, that everything migrated well. There may be hidden flaws in your library and teething problems with Photos. Don't be in a hurry to abandon iPhoto completely. You may need to go back, until bugs have been fixed. Th Photos Library does not duplicate the photos in your iPhoto Library. the media files are shared and do not need extra space: See: Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support

If you have enough iCloud storage. But Photos will still need space for local thumbnails on all devices.
