Placed images with mini bridge

multiple image layouts where images are placed with mini bridge are not editable until the layout is saved, well still not, save and reopen and the images are not placed in the layout. deleated ps6 today, reinstalled, updated, purchased cc for ps.... still not working

I just tried this with a new document in CC, and I had no problem opening and editing the placed Smart Object in the unsaved document. If you place a jpg or other file that does not allow layers, and try to add a layer, it will save psb file and you will lose any editing, as the jpg will still be embedded. You either need to place psd files, or once you make some edits, use the smart object replace content to replace the jpg with the psd or psb file.

Problem with mini bridge

When I click on browse in mini bridge it opens and says " waiting for bridge CS5" nothing else happens and no files ever open. What can I do to get files into mini bridge?

FYI, you posted this to the BrowserLab forums and unless I'm misunderstanding your question I don't think this has anything to do with BrowserLab. I'm not sure what the "mini bridge" is. You might try posting your question to another forum...

Trouble with Mini-Bridge

I am using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8.1 system. Have already had to disable Graphics Processor to stop the flickering window, now Mini-Bridge says it can't find any files. No problem with Bridge, just Mini-Bridge. Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks Curt. Yes Bridge is open. It is okay, I found the problem. Some of my library names changed when I upgraded to 8.1. Found the problem and solution.

"Big Bridge" does not launch with Mini Bridge

When I open Photoshop and launch Mini-Bridge, it does not launch "big bridge." The littel wheel turns around and a note says "waiting for Bridge CS5," but Bridge CS5 never opens. The little wheel keeps turning around and keeps waiting and waiting. I have gone into settings and tried both settings. 1. Open Bridge automatically when Mini-Bridge starts. 2. Do not start Bridge until browse files is checked. On either setting, Bridge still will not launch. Does this call for a re-install of Photoshop? Need advice. Thanks

I have not kept up on this issue. There was quite a discussion on the topic in the Photoshop Forum when CS5 came out, but issues must have been resloved as have not see anythiing on it for awhile.
Make sure you have the latest Bridge and PS updates. The use the search fuction (many times google is faster) and read some of the replies.

Quit Bridge.
Then hold down Cmd+Opt+Shift and when the menu above appears click on the middle box.
If that doesn't solve the problem, repeat the procedure but this time click on the top box.

Placing Images with CS2

Hello:
I really hope someone can help me with this. I am using photoshop to create a banner and am having an issue. When I open a new document in photoshop, then use the "place" feature in File to insert a photo from my computer, it distorts the color properties of the photo upon insertion. It doesn't seem to matter where the photo came from or whether it's a .png file or a .jpg file, it does the same thing everytime. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this keeps happening? Could it be my settings?

As far as the image being profiled or unprofiled...I'm clueless, sorry. Regarding the Color Settings, I hope this is what you're looking for. I went into the Edit menu and chose 'color settings'. This is what it gave me:

Batch placing images with filename as an editable caption?

Howdy! Does anyone know if there is an easy way to place about 300 screenshots into ID CC on a multi-page document (obviously) AND capture each filename associated with the image as a text frame above it (or close to it)? I named my files as reminders for the copy I need to write to describe the screenshot and - boy - would this help a lot to avoid back and forth to refer to file names. I need to edit the copy associated with each image, which is why I need the text (filename) in a text frame. The file names are long. I know - not an ideal way to name files, but I had to do screenshots on the fly on someone else's computer and it's what popped into my head at the time. Thank you kindly!

You're in luck. You can use the Object > Captions > Caption Setup to pick Name as the metadata. Then when you place the file turn on Import Options and check Create Static Captions.
You also can create dynamic captions which pull other metadata from the images but it doesn't sound like that's what you need.

CS5 Mini Bridge Opens Images in Windows Paint

Can anyone tell me how to open images with Mini Bridge into Photoshop CS5? I have both an XP and a Windows 7 64-bit computer. I just downloaded the update to the CS5 program I had already installed and now when I go to open a JPEG image in Mini Bridge it opens the image in a program called Paint. When I use Bridge itself, with the settings set to "Automatically open all supported JPEGs" it opens my JPEG images in Camera Raw (which is fine). Do I have to reset the Preferences in order to clear everything out and start from scratch or is there another workaround that someone can tell me?

Yes, that is exactly what I did. Should I then always keep the prior version available in the computer or uninstall the earlier version before installing the upgrade version? I don't recall having this problem in earlier versions of LR or Photoshop.
I will go ahead and reinstall both CS5 and LR3 after deactivating. Darn I was hoping there would be a workaround, but I have no idea what the previous file associations would have been or how to change them in LR. I sure did learn a valuable lesson though.

Mini Bridge "Waiting for Bridge" error Macintosh

We'd been having this error on a couple of our computers and none of the steps in the KB article http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-waiting-for-bridge-cs5.html are working.
We initally set up one computer to be used as our master image. Once we had things working the way we wanted on this computer we cloned the drive using Carbon Copy Cloner and distributed the master image to 3 other computers for testing. Mini Bridge was working fine on the master image. Once we cloned the master we changed the name of the default user account to our intended user's name following Apple's directions for changing user account names. Mini Bridge did not work on any of the user accounts on the cloned computers even those accounts whose names did not change. I even tried creating a new test account and it still does not work.
I've been doing some experimenting removing various Adobe related files and then trying to use the Mini Bridge until I figured out what worked. What I found was I could go to Library/Application Support/Adobe, and using Get Info, make the default user the owner of the Adobe folder. (They already had read/write permissions.) After that they are able to use the Mini Bridge. However, none of my other user accounts can work with the Mini Bridge since they are not owners of the Adobe folder. It seems that Mini Bridge is only able to function if the current user is also the owner of the Adobe folder?
I looked at the permissions on the master for the Adobe folder and it said it was owned by root and belonged to the admin group. On the cloned images it states that it is owned by the default user and belongs to the staff group. I tried using Terminal and changed the owner and group to root and admin as it was on the master, but that didn't make any difference. It will still only work if the default user is actually made the owner of the folder.
We will be cloning several more computers this way and I'd like to figure out why this is not working and see if there is a way to make it work for all users of the computer. I am sure something is happening with permissions on the Adobe folder when the user account is renamed on the clone, however I also did a group of 4 laptops this same way and those cloned computers all work fine under all user accounts.

Thanks for the suggestions. I finally got it working today.
We've been using Bridge for quite a while but the Mini Bridge is new to us as we are just now updating to CS5. I did notice a bit of lag time with Mini Bridge and sometimes it didn't want to display the items on networked drives, but if I hit the backward and forward arrows it would work, so maybe just a screen redraw issue or something there, but other than that it seems to be working ok over our network for now.
Your tip about having only one copy of Bridge open at a time was the key. We have been able to open the same program on multiple user accounts simultaneously before, but I can't say that we have with Bridge. I didn't notice it at first but when you choose Mini Bridge in InDesign it is actually opening the full Bridge in the background though it doesn't open the Bridge window, but looking at my Dock I see where it has been launched. When I would switch to another user account to test the Mini Bridge I wasn't closing out of Bridge in the first account, since I didn't realize it was open, so I'm assuming since it was still open there it could not launch it under the second user. Once I closed out of Bridge on the first account it worked fine on the second.
So think we have it resolved now.
Thanks so much for the tip! This has been driving me crazy for a day and a half. Now I can get on with my other computer set-ups.
By the way, we are ok on the number of CS copies floating around, we have a volume license. :-)

Mini Bridge InDesign and color label.

Hello everyone, I'm just start to use InDesign, it's a great experience!
I'm a photographer and I use the software for my photo book, but I have a little problem with mini Bridge, is it possible to set a color label to the pictures?
In this way I can recognize the picture used from the others. (sorry for my bad english, I hope you can understand)

Then right click on images to add a label.
I think you can change labels and colours in bridge itself.

Delete snippet from mini bridge?

Hello all,
I would like to delete some files straight from Mini Bridge that I have dragged-and-dropped into earlier. However, I can't seem to find a way to do so. I thought it would be rather strange that I can add files in Mini Bridge but not delete them.
Am I missing something (and going completely mad) or is it not possible to delete files from Mini Bridge?

I think, in a lot of workflows, MiniBridge is a tool that aids in the placing of content but not really the organization or changing of it. That's why features like renaming and sorting are so weak, compared to other tools. As a result, they don't want to make it too easy to delete content, because that might put some users off ("I had a bad experience with Mini Bridge. The Mini Troll ate my Mini Snippet.").

Can not creat Ratings in Mini Bridge

I checked mode and they are in filmstrip. I tried all the other modes with the same result.
One other thing is the mini bridge icon does not appear automatically with the pallets. I have to go to the file menu and open it. It does show the file names. And I can edit them ( the names). But I cannot add a ratting. And if a file has a ratting it does not show.
I can add ratings just fine in big bridge.
But if I do a search for ratings ( 5 Stars) it finds them but does not show the ratings.

When you look at the bottom right of Mini Bridge, you have two sets of icons. The one on the left is the Preview mode and the second is the View mode. Filmstrip is one of the view modes. However, with Mini Bridge you have to be in a Preview mode to apply ratings. Mini Bridge isn't showing thumbnails

Hi.
Everything with Photoshop and Bridge CS5 is working super accept for the mini bridge ???
It just shows "waiting for Bridge CS5" all the time and nothing ever happen and everything
else is working perfect i think.
Running iMac 27" i5, 8GB of Ram, Mac OS X 10.6.3 and a
Macbook Pro 15" 2.8Ghz, 4GB of Ram, Mac OS X 10.5.8, same with both.
I checked all the maintenance stuff you can do for fixing but nothing helped.
Anyone have this problem ?

Just found out I have this problem today. I suspect it might have something to do with the updates I installed this morning. I can't remember exactly what they were but there was one each for Bridge and Photoshop (CS5). Previously I haven't had an issue with Mini Bridge at all but I don't use Photoshop on a daily basis. Now I find anything to do with Mini Bridge locks up Photoshop and I have to force quit it. Photoshop works OK as long as I don't use Mini Bridge.
