Placed native .psd files always "get modifed" when creating pdf

Just today started this very odd thing. ANY, any native .psd file I place into a new or old InDesign CS4 document, whether the .psd is RGB or CMYK, one layer, multiple layers, will tell me that as soon as I hit the blue "Export" button that "This document contains missing or modified links." Click Cancel and then use the Links panel to relink or update lnks or click OK to continue.
If I click cancel and update the link (which had never changed in the first place), then go to export again, it does the same thing. If I create a new document and try placing the same .psd file into the new ID document, it does the same thing. Only way I can get around this new FREAKINGLY FRUSTRATING error message is to not save the document, then export it.
I've tried trashing all the preferences, for both ID and PS, that didn't work. I've tried repairing permissions, and that didn't work.
This does not happen for .ai files or .eps (Illustrator or Photoshop). Or if I open an ID file with a .psd in it, it will tell its changed even after I've saved and closed the document.

    Hi, what do you mean when you say they get "locked"?

  • The words in the .docx (MSWord 2010) file are getting merged when the file is transferred to another computer for printing. What could be the reason?

     The words in my .docx file are getting merged when the file is transferred to another computer for printing. For eg. the sentence "rate of success ......"  is displayed as "rateof success" on the other computer. What could
    be the reason for this? How to solve this issue?

    Have you checked that the document is using the exact same font on both machines? If the second machine doesn't have the font installed that's used in the original document on the first machine, Word will pick the closest matching font, and that may
    display slightly differently.

  • Acrobat distiller keeps on quitting when creating pdf

    Hi there, my Acrobat distiller 10 in OS X Mountain Lion keeps on quitting when creating pdf. Please help.

    Hello,
    1. Please try updating the Acrobat to 10.1.10 and then check the issue.
    2. Go to Settings -> Font Locations. You'll see a list of sources that Distiller gets its fonts from. Make sure that the paths actually exist, delete them if they don't.
    3. Try with different joboptions.

    Yes, it seems that i had to make the change after creation, not while creating the preset. thank you.

  • Error message: Helvetica Medium outline font missing when creating PDF's

    Error message: Helvetica Medium outline font missing when creating PDF's. Where can I downlaod it and why is it suddenly happening?

    OS? Version of ID?
    This means that either you have an extra Helvetica Medium font installed and it's interfering with ID finding the T1 version, or the T1 version is damaged. I found this really old thread that explains it fairly well: http://www.asadesigner.com/22-indesign/2d812de56777cc90.htm
    The good news is that it's probably only affecting the page information marks.

  • PSD File Not Opening - Error When Opening

    Hi there! I have been working on this PSD file for a long time... it's a design for my organization's next website.
    Now recently I went to open up the file and got this error (images... shows what happens when I click ok at each popup).
    I have tried anything I could find online on recovering PSD files and all that, but no luck. Now one thing though that did stand out for me was that when I go to File - Open, the preview of the file when I last edited does show up.
    Does this mean there is hope and a way to fix this file? I REALLY need the file up and running.
    I would greatly appreciate any help. Also I will be more than happy to send the file to anyone who could repair it for me.
    Thanks!

    Does this mean there is hope and a way to fix this file?
    No. If it is a persistent thumbnail in the file, it is a separate data chunk and this does in no way imply that while this partt is intact, other parts would be.
    I REALLY need the file up and running.
    You know, people use versioning/ incremental saving and backup copies so they can always go one version back and avoid such problems. I just need to look at your file opening dialog and get nightmares. Work files don't belong unorganized on your desktop. They go into an individual folder on a separate partition/ drive and then you save a new version with every siginificant step. I mean, you could have accidentally deleted the file while cleaning up your desktop and then what? Really, you need to work on the fundamentals here and straighten out your workflow. Other than that it's probably more effective to simply re-create the file from scratch instead of wasting time trying to find a fix for something that very likely can't bve fixed at this point...

  • Trouble with "Place Photoshop button".  It is not importing or "placing" my PSD file.

    So I have a triple layer PSD file of a custom facebook icon that I am trying to "place" into Muse.  (PSD file includes transparent backgound, layer 1 image, and layer 2 image).  When I go to the "Place Photoshop button" and select my PSD file containing this and click "ok", the dialog option box does pop up however without my images or file.  Am I doing something wrong?

    Hello SDM,
    Are you getting this option after you select the .psd file ?

  • Placing native Indesign files - rich black

    Guys,
    I've been moving over to placing Indesign files for the adverts I have created into my magazine layout rather than exporting to PDF and placing them.
    However, to my horror, I have discovered that if you do this indesign will output overprinting 100% black as rich black.
    Why does it do this? Can I stop it?
    If I take the advert file and place it, the black is rich, if I export the exact same indesign file as PDF and place that then the black stays 100% overprinting.

    Confirmed!
    The lesson here is when you are importing native InDesign files into InDesign, you must ensure the working spaces are the same, or convert policy as above.
    Thanks guys.

  • Is there anything in the world wrong with "placing" a PSD file in CS5?

    Friends,
    EMERGENCY !
    I need to know if there's anything wrong with "placing" ( + D) a PSD photograph in CS5??
    I was using PNG, but Photoshop won't save as CMYK .png files.
    I was using .tif files, but TIF files don't preserve transparency.
    Therefore, can I just use .PSD files?  They seem to work just fine ...
    Help!  Thanks!

    Since we're talking about InDesign CS5, there is a wrinkle.
    Dov Isaacs wrote:
    (1)     TIFF files certainly do preserve transparency. Make sure you select that option when saving TIFF.
    And unfortunate pragmatic isue is that Photoshop CS6 changed the way it stores transparency in TIFF files, and it stopped saving obsolete legacy data. And InDesign CS5 (but not CS6) depended on that legacy data. So if you're using PS CS6 and ID CS5 (the subject here indicates ID CS5) and you care about transparency, it's not a good idea to use TIFF.
    (Personally I would tend to want to use TIFF, if this were not the case.)
    I think this "bug" got fixed in ID CS5.5 (#3073238), but I don't think it is fixed in CS6 CS5.
    Edit: not fixed in CS5! Not "not fixed in CS6"

  • Placing smaller PSD file to large InDesign file

    Hello folks,
    I just want to make sure I'm doing this right before I commit to a printer.
    I have a high resolution Photoshop file that's about 10 MB, the width is only about 11 inches in the photoshop file.
    I need a banner that is 120 inches wide.  When I place the file in InDesign and stretch it to the size I need it...it looks fine in InDesign but the file size is less than 1 MB.  I just find that hard to believe, so I'm just making sure that this is the correct procedure in making a large banner from a PSD file.
    Thank you!

    I just made the photoshop image 1800 dpi.
    Which improved the pixelation when upscaling in InDesign...but it looks blurry around the edges now, instead of pixelated.
    Yup. Upsampling in Photoshop depends on interpolation and manufacturing pixels from thin air, and that's what you get.
    I guess I just need to know how peopel take small images and put them up on a huge banner and have it look great.  That might get me the answer I need to do this properly.
    They start with a larger image to begin with.

  • Always getting errors when trying to control YOKOGAWA 7651 power supply on Labwindows/CVI

    Hi,
    I'm trying to set the voltage on the YOKOGAWA 7651 power supply through labwindows/cvi. I've set up a numeric slide on my userinterface with callback function "yoko7651dcvolts" and constant name "YOKO7651DCVOLTS".
    I always get this error when I run my program:
    "FATAL RUN-TIME ERROR: "DcSource.c", line 53, col 65, thread id 0x00001F3C: Invalid argument type: found 'pointer to double', expected 'pointer to int'."
    This error points to the third argument of the GetCtrlVal function below. The program/compiler wants me pass the variable "yoko1volts" as integer, but I want to (and should) be able to set voltages as floating numbers.
    Plus, even when I declare "yoko1volts" as integer, it stills doesn't work. All I get is zero, zero, and zero...on the power supply meter everytime I press the numeric slide.
    This is the section of the C code that is problemic:
    int CVICALLBACK yoko7651dcvolts (int panel, int control, int event,
    void *callbackData, int eventData1, int eventData2)
    double yoko1volts;
    switch (event)
    case EVENT_COMMIT:
    GetCtrlVal (yoko76511Panel, YOKO7651_1_YOKO7651DCVOLTS, &yoko1volts); // to read the values entered on the numerical meter on the user interface
    yk7651_set_volts (yoko76511Panel, yoko1volts); // set the entered values as voltage on the instrument
    break;
    return 0;
    This is the related h-file:
    #define YOKO7651_1 4
    #define YOKO7651_1_YOKO7651SWITCH 2 /* control type: binary, callback function: yoko7651switch */
    #define YOKO7651_1_YOKO7651DCVOLTS 3 /* control type: scale, callback function: yoko7651dcvolts */
    Please help, how can I fix this issue?
    All the drivers (including the YOKOGAWA 7651 power supply) are properly installed and mounted. As a matter of fact, I can successfully turn the power supply on and off with the code below:
    int CVICALLBACK yoko7651switch (int panel, int control, int event,
    void *callbackData, int eventData1, int eventData2)
    int yoko7651switchstate;
    switch (event)
    case EVENT_COMMIT:
    GetCtrlVal (yoko76511Panel, YOKO7651_1_YOKO7651SWITCH, &yoko7651switchstate);
    SetCtrlVal (yoko76511Panel, YOKO7651_1_YOKO7651SWITCH, !yoko7651switchstate);
    yk7651_output (yoko76511Panel, !yoko7651switchstate);
    break;
    return 0;
    It's just setting the voltage on the power supply that is very problematic. Any help is appreciated...Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I second Al opinion of a disconnection between the UIR and the variable that holds the panel handle.
    As a side note, I noted that the problematic line is reading the value of the controll whose callback is executed:
    #define YOKO7651_1_YOKO7651DCVOLTS 3 /* control type: scale, callback function: yoko7651dcvolts */
    int CVICALLBACK yoko7651dcvolts (int panel, int control, int event,
    void *callbackData, int eventData1, int eventData2)
    double yoko1volts;
    switch (event)
    case EVENT_COMMIT:
    GetCtrlVal (yoko76511Panel, YOKO7651_1_YOKO7651DCVOLTS, &yoko1volts); // to read the values entered on the numerical meter on the user interface
    yk7651_set_volts (yoko76511Panel, yoko1volts); // set the entered values as voltage on the instrument
    break;
    return 0;
    In a situation like this, I would try using GetCtrlVal (panel, control, &yoko1volts); instead, that should get rid of all problems in panel handle / control ID.
    Despite this solution is working, in any case I would deep into the problem as an incorrect panel handle can lead to erratical behaviour in other places of the program.
    Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Psd files are getting corrupted

    Hi
    I am using PSE11 on a Mac, and have experienced PSD files getting corrupted twice now.  They are digital scrapbooking files, where I have started with a layered PSD file 'template' and personalised it (with lots of effort!).  I save it and close it.  Later I try and reopen it and it will not open.  The Adobe Photoshop Elements dialog box says 'Reading Photoshop Format' but it just gets stuck - the progress bar does not move beyond 1/3.  This is really bothersome as last time it happened I had no option but to start over and redo the layout.  Any ideas or suggestions as to why or how this might be happening?  What could I do about it?  I am reluctant to reinstall PSE, as I prefer version 11, have no disc, and last time it took many calls to Adobe to be directed to a place where I could download it (they kept telling me I would HAVE to buy the latest version.
    Thanks, J

    A little more info about the files and just how you're saving them would help, as would info about your version of PSE. What color space are the files? Have you reset your PSE preferences?
