Placed PSD image can cause AICS5 "not responding"
I often place PSD files from PSCS5 in AICS5 documents, then when I make changes on the PSD file it often will cause AICS5 to give me a progress bar that freezes. When i bring up the Force Quit dialog I get a message that AI is not responding, necessitating a force quit and relaunch of the program. This doesn't happen every time I make a change to the PSD file and it appears to only happen with large PSD files (over 200 MB). I do a lot of work with very large files and this can happen up to 10 times a day. Everything else is very stable.

Extensis Fusion 3.0
Thanks, Mike. I assume that you are talking about the Graphics Card settings in Photoshop CS5. I had them turned off but I will try to vary the settings (starting with "basic") and see if I can get more stability in Illustrator.

LR4 psd image can not be found
Have a dng image in my Catalog:
A
1. Edited it using PS CS6
2. Saved it as psd image
3. The psd image appeared in the Catalog, but with a question mark in the upper right corner - viz., it could not be found
4. The image also appeared in Windows Explorer
B
1. Saved it as a tif image
2. this image appeared in the Catalog without the question mark!
C
1. closed and reopened LR
2. closed and reopened Win 7
3. uninstalled downloaded and installed new copy of LR
4. All to no avail!! The psd image still shows in catalog, but can not be found!
I have other psd images in the catalog that LR can find!
Called Adobe Online Support. They could not help.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I am new to crystal reports.
I am using
Crystal Reports XI
jdk1.5.0
JBoss4.0.4GA
MYSQL5.0
When i access a method in another class from implementation class, it gives error. all the jar files
are available as i know. calling and called classes are in the same package.
I give the error details bellow , please help me.
C:\Java\jboss-4.0.4.GA\server\default\deploy\AMS.ear\reports\raactualrpt>javac RaActualRptImpl.java
RaActualRptImpl.java:87: cannot find symbol
symbol : class RaActualRpt
location: class reports.raactualrpt.RaActualRptImpl
resultSet = HibernateUtility.getProjectedEntity(resultSet,(new RaActualRpt()).getColumns(),reports/raactualrpt/RaActualRpt);
You need to make sure that the RaActualRpt class is in the classpath either through the environment variable or as a javac option. Also make sure you import it if it is not in the same package as RaActualRptImpl -

I have deleted AI and all related files, then reinstalled from scratch and I have also deleted Fusion 3.0 and made a new font library, neither efforts fixed the problem or had any discernable effect.
15.0.2 Illustrator
Mac Pro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon running 10.6.8

Extensis Fusion 3.0I thought it might be performance based and have taken some measures to address that such as turning off Overprint Preview but I still have Raster Effects set for 300 dpi, even on big files. I have lots of scratch disk space. I don't use a lot of styles/effects, especially with large files. Instead I do them in Photoshop.
This problem didn't happen in AICS3 and my settings were pretty much as they are now.
My Graphic card is the Nividia GeForce GT 120
I will try using outline mode, maybe that will help. -
Repairing Library causes Aperture NOT RESPONDING
Upon the recent "update" from Apple concerning Aperture 3.4:
I installed the update on 9/20.
When I open my massive 1.16 TB Aperture library, I get this message:
Click Repair.
Then this message:
Then this message:
Since then, Aperture has been repairing my massive 1.16 TB library for ~ 5 hours until it gets to 77% and then "Aperture Not Responding".
I have to Force Quit.
Open Aperture again and then this message:
Click Restore Windows
Then this message:
Click Repair.
Then this message:
Then, the cycle begins again until it gets to 77% in about ~5 hours
Then "Aperture Not Responding".
I have to Force Quit.
And so on.
So, I deleted Aperture from hard drive
Re-Install Aperture 3.0 from cd/dvd
Open Aperture...with BRAND new library. Fine. Except it is not MY library.
Close Aperture.
Open Massive Aperture Library
Get this message:
Select Quit
Close Aperture
Update Aperture to 3.4
Open Aperture with massive library
This message: Aperture has detecteed inconsistincies in your library. Please click Repair to avoid any potential problems.
Click Repair
Then, the cycle begins again until it gets to 77% in about ~5 hours
Then "Aperture Not Responding".
I have to Force Quit.
Of course I send the Report to Apple. Every time.
And so on and on and on and on. For THREE DAYS already.
My Mac Pro has been a brick and unusable since it is hogging the cpu with this Aperture update.
Check back to the Apple Discussion Forums
Get this message:
We'll be back soon. We are busy updateing Apple Support Communities for you and will be back shortly.
Yeah.
Repeat all the steps above for 2-3 times per day for 3 days.

Fireworks image editing palette not responding
Image editing palette does not respond. I need to go to the filters menu at the top of the page to sharpen etc. I notice that this is a flash-driven panel.
Adobe need to work on it anyway because it is absolutely infuriating that the adjustment dialogs pop up right in the centre of the screen (usually where most people want to see their changes previewed).
Anyhow, the dialog is an annoyance, but the palette not working is a fault/bug worthy of immediate attention unless anyone knows a fix.
I am using Fireworks 11.1.0.205Hi Neil,
I had the same issue as you; the 'Image Editing' panel was not responding. I figured out that the problem was with Flash. I quitted Fireworks, downloaded the newest version of Adobe Flash Player, installed it, then restarted Fireworks. All of a sudden the 'Image Editing' panel was responding and working again. Problem solved...
I'm glad I found a solution. I really like Fireworks because it improves my workflow for webdesign and fastens development time after the design is finished BUT I'm really not happy with the huge amount of bugs this piece of software has... -
My Pictures "not responding" - what is the purpose of the lr Previews.lrdata
I find that I cannot open "My Pictues" with Windows Explorer (Windows XP) - it sits there and finally indicates "not responding."
What I found is that if I move the Lightroom folder with the catalog and Previews out of "My Pictures" then the My Pictues folder will open very quickly.
I moved the Lightroom folder back into My Pictures but tired various combinations of the content (first with both the catalog and previews in, then just the catalog, just the previews, etc.) and found that for some reason it appears that the Previews folder is the one that is causing the "not responding" issue.
I have deleted the entire Lightroom folder and rebuilt the default catalog & previews data. Same issue occurs.
It could be a corrupted image file, but once I move the Lightroom folder out of My Pictures, I can open each image (and the folder) just fine.
I understand what the purpose is of the Catalog but what does the Previews folder do?
This is Lightroom 3.4.1 with Windows XP SP3.
ThanksJust a guess, but easy enough to try is turning off thumbnail caching:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/prevent-windows-xp-from-creating-the-thumbsdb-thumb nail-cache-files/
If you have a large number of pictures added since your last visit to the 'Pictures' folder in Windows Explorer it will try to create thumbnail images for all of them, including the LR preview files. If you are running on an older (i.e. slow) system it could take a long time to build them.
I also suggest changing your default folder view setting for 'All Folders' to 'Details:'
http://www.xp-tips.com/all-folders-view.html
If still no joy try turning off Windows XP Indexing Service:

Transparent PSD image in Illustrator changes color of vector background after print.
Hello, I really don't know how to explain this so I'll just upload my files which are located here: http://rapidshare.com/files/4040672260/Green%20circle.rar
I have a green vector background in illustrator and then I placed psd image over it and created PDF for press and under Color bitmap images I selected no compression.
After viewing image in Acrobat all seems ok, I even checked with picker, but after I send this to printer (xerox in thsi case) I end up with this: .
Both .psd and .ai are in CMYK color space. For this particular case I could use mask to cover up that transparent space but my original project has shadows which I cannot mask by vector :S.
Can someone plz explain to me what I am doing whrong or how to set color profiles or whatever is neccessary to avoid this issue. One thing I was using was, opening PDF in Photoshop and flatening all. Problem is that sometimes I need vector files and cut lines for cutter. Don't want to have bitmap, if I can have a vector? Also when I flaten image I do get same CMYK values in photoshop (with picker) than I have in Illustrator on vector object, but when I print this they don't match at all.
Does someone know a solution?
THANKS in advance and sry for my bad english.
StefanNothing worng with your .ai or .psd file, prints fine here. Problem is with your tranparency flattening.
Most likely you can fix that by print >> Advanced >> Custom >.> Move slider all the way towards rasters.
If you need more help, let us knwo your printere, and screenshtos of your print settings can help. -
Illustrator has not been responding for over a week, I can't open or force quit it. I've already uninstalled, reinstalled, and deleted the preferences folder, but the icon in my dock seems corrupt and is causing the program to not respond and I can't delete it.
Tamara,
Did you reinstall using the full three step way (otherwise strange things may linger)?
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

How can I find out what causes a program to NOT RESPONDING status suddenly?
After a very long period of functioning without serious problems a program suddenly doesn't start anymore, showing this funny rotating ball and a message in the Activity Monitor that this program is not responding. I have searched the log files meticulously, hoping to find some clues what caused the stuck, but no chance of course. Is there a more or less "educated way" to find out, what happened and how to prevent it in the future?
Thanks a lot in advanceSome of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select
▹ Restart
from the menu bar. -
When I try to open images I am getting this message: "The file “image.jpg” couldn’t be opened because you don’t have permission to view it." "Which I've tried - but it's not responding, plus its with all images now. Can anyone help?
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iBooksX
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
Can't save images - not responding
With the latest Firefox on Windows 8.1, if I right click to save an image, it doesn't work. The Save screen comes up, but the buttons along the bottom are missing. The blue circle is spinning. Then it will say "not responding: and there is no way to get out, except to close the program. I've tried turning off other programs and starting in safe mode, with no add-ons, but I have the same problem.
I am using Firefox 26.0 with WinXP Pro SP3 (oldie but a goodie) and my problem with Save Image As is slightly different.
On this website http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp?B=31735088 there are 33 separate image pages in .JPG format in the file. To save images in high resolution first click on the Enlarge option at top left. Now right-click on the image and select Save Image As and you should get the save folder & file name screen as expected. In a normal situation the folder to save the file in and the filename can be modified to whatever is desired as long as the extension remains unaltered. It will be noted here that the default filename has a .asp extension. It becomes necessary to change the extension from .asp to .jpg for each of the 33 image pages in the file otherwise the image viewer program can't open them later. I dare say that the pages could all be saved with the .asp extension butit would then be necessary to go back and rename them to .jpg later. Quite inconvenient really....
IE8 doesn't have this problem. It correctly identifies the images as .jpg so saving is a simple task. Firefox has a problem which should be easy to fix. Surely it shouldn't be difficult for it to recognise a filename extension correctly. -
Illustrator cs3 will not show placed .psd files
I changed my computer to a vista based operating system and installed my creative suite 3. Everything was working fine but recently I am having challenges getting illustrator cs3 to show placed .PSD files. They appear to import but do not display. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be helpful. I already tried a repair/reinstall of illustrator but that did not work. I can place .psd images into In Design so I am not sure why illutrator is not allowing .PSD files to import and display.
Harron K. Appleman wrote:
Did you upgrade to 64-bit Vista by any chance?
Are your PSD images 16-bit by any chance?
The problem with this scenario is that since Illustrator, any version does not support 16 bit psd files and CS 3 and 4 will place the file anyway but give you a notice that it is placing it as 8 bit. So unless there is something about Vista XP or W7 64 bit that prevents Illustrator fro converting then that is probably not the issue. And though the warning says it flattens it will preserve a transparent background.
So it might be a different issue. -
hyper link of public image(hyperlink or image) can not be saved on windows server 2012 and sharepoint 2010 problem, is this a bug?
thanks for any reply.
RosoneIt is not a bug, you might be using IE in Windows server 2012 and and browser might be restricting your site actions to respond properly.
Check this in a different browser or access site in a differ OS.

Brand new Lenovo computer, Windows 7 Home. New install of Firefox 6.0.1, set as default browser, don't launch when I click done. Icon appears in tray. I click the icon, and a message says "firefox is running but not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing process, or reboot". It's not obviously running. I can't find a way to make it quit. Task manager doesn't list it as a current application. Uninstall using the control panel uninstall function and then reinstalling gives the same message. Rebooting doesn't fix the problem and gives the same message. Firefox had been working until I tried to update my bookmarks.
No can do. I can delete the current profile and install Firefox, which should create a new blank profile. The message still says "Firefox is already running." I can place my old profile in the proper folder, and Firefox will still be already running. I can't actually use Firefox, because even though the message says it is running, there is nothing on the screen I can access.
After uninstalling Firefox, deleting the two items left in the Programs folder, and deleting the profile again, it still didn't work. I then got frisky and from the Roaming folder I deleted the Mozilla folder which contains the Firefox folder which contains the now empty Profiles folder. That worked, and a new set of folders with a new blank profile were created. So apparently it was the empty folders that never got deleted that were causing the issue.
Thanks for your suggestion. It got me thinking.
