    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

  • Many of My Places silently updated by iPhoto to New Place

iPhoto 8.0.4 silently changed 49 of the names I had defined in My Places and they are now all called New Place.
The location of the pin of each of the 49 places has not been altered by iPhoto and I will be able to use Manage My Places to edit the names once again.
Due to bugs in the earlier versions of iPhoto '09 I had postponed using places and had set the preferences for Look up places to Never.
Now with a Nikon GP-1 and the newest iPhoto '09 I was hoping Places was ready for prime time.
The location from the Nikon GP-1 shows up in iPhoto, but the place was not updated and no pin was available.
After changing the preferences for Look up places to automatic the pins appeared correctly.
However after the update many of my places previously defined had been renamed by iPhoto to "New Place".
The 49 original names are lost, but I can go back and redefine the names. Bloody annoying, but it's a one time job... I hope... Unless...
Should I expect this to happen if I toggle the preferences in the future?

You have bad data in your EXIF fields on your photos
At one time early on someone posted that iPhoto was switching the sign (making negative locations positive as I remember) on some Geo Data - if these are old photos that have been in iPhoto for a while that might be what the problem is - export one and look at the EXIF data in preview or with a third party program like CD Finder Inspector - http://www.cdfinder.de/en/en/geotagging.html

  • Modified pictures not updated in iPhoto

    Hi everyone,
I'm using iPhoto 11(9.3.2) to manage my photolibrary. Best tool ever.
For modifying my pictures, I use the external application Photoshop Elements 10(10.0)
Opening the external app, including the chosen picture works fine. Saving also.
However: if I try to see the modifications I've made (with PSE) in iPhoto: No modifications.
I found out that the modified picture was saved in the 'Preview'-folder (find it through finder)
So: Photoshop Elements seems to save the picture in that folder; not in the 'master' or 'thumbnail', and I don't know why, and how to change that.
Does anyone have a clue, how to solve this?
    Thanks for your advice!

Hi Terence, thanks for your comment so far.
No what I do is as follows:
In the external editor, I make the modifications.
After that I choose Save from the File menu.
    Then this screen appears:
So there is a field named Save as, NO save field. Whether I choose a different name filename, it doesn't make sense.
Now, while I was writing and figuring out the previous sentence, I found out what contributed to the problem:
The initial filename format in iPhoto is *.JPEG
When saving the edited picture in PSE, it automatically calls it *.jpg, so without the E.
If I add this E to the filename, it updates the thumbnail in iPhoto -> Problem solved.
But there is a strange extra to this:
the picture I was modifying was scanned on an HP All-in-one scanner. For these pictures, this problem occurs.
When editing a photo, which comes from either my iPhone, iPad or my Panasonic DMC-FZ38 there is no problem.
So I may come to the conclusion that somewhere in the scanningproces on the HP an 'invisible' tag or flag or something like that is added to the picture which may caus this problem?

  • I can not update my iphoto program... please help

when I download the latest version (604), I get a message that tell me
"iPhoto Updater cannot be installed on this computer. An eligible iPhoto application could not be found in /Applications. Well there is an iPhoto 2.0 program there. Do I have to buy the latest version???
    Please help..

Yes, in order to do the free up update, you must first purchase the upgrade. Buy iLife 06, and you'll get iPhoto 6, which you then want to update to 6.0.4. You'll also get the latest versions of iMovie, iDVD, iTunes, iWeb, and GarageBand. the iLife Suite is great fun. Check out the iLife suite at http://www.apple.com/ilife/
And be sure to check the system requirements for RAM, etc.

  • Photo stream not updating in iPhoto

Photos that I take on my iPhone 4 are showing up in the Photo Stream on that device and on my iPad but not in iPhoto, at least not for a long time (hours or days). Quitting and restarting iPhoto doesn't help. Yes, Photo Stream is turned on in iPhoto preferences, with automatic uploading enabled. Any clue how to force it to show all my recent photos?

I was able to force a download of my photostream by disabling Automatic Import and Automatic Upload in Preferences>Photostream.

  • PE edited RAW photos not updated in iPhoto

I use iPhoto 6 to store photos. I recented started shooting in RAW format with Canon SRL (previously I used jpegs). When I edit in Photoshop Elements 3 (via preferences in iPhoto), I double click the image to go into RAW converter, confirm white balance and then open image in PE. After changes made, I close image and save changes as asked by PE. It saves image as a PSD attachment (previously it was a CR2 file).
All seems fine, and all Jpeg files worked prevoiusly, however iPhoto does not show any of the changes to the photos taken with RAW.
Am I missing something or not saving correctly?
    Any help appreciated.

    timbo m:
Are you double clicking the thumbnail image in iPhoto to open the file in PE or are you using the Finder to double click on the raw image file in the Originals folder and then starting your edits? If it's the latter then that's why iPhoto doesn't recognize the edits.
When importing raw files into the library iPhoto creates a jpg version for iPhoto to use and puts it in the Modified folder. So any edits done by iPhoto or a 3rd party editor selected as the editor of choice in iPhoto's preferences will be on that jpg file.
If iPhoto is to know of the edits all edits must start from inside iPhoto and that means you're editing the jpeg version of the raw file.
If you need to do it the other way then you'll have to do a Save As to the desktop and import that file as a new photo.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto PhotoStream not updating since new iMac purchase

I purchased a new iMac and transferred old iMac info.  PhotoStream has not updated in iPhoto since the transition.  Works on iPhones/iPads, but not iPhoto.  Tried turning PhotoStream off/on in both iPhoto and Settings.  Did not work. Any help?
    Cheers,
    Scott

Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • How can I synchronize my iPhoto events? my iTunes doesn't read them and with the app Images in the iPad I can only find Photos, Albums, Faces and Places, not Events.

How can I synchronize my iPhoto events? my iTunes doesn't read them and with the app Images in the iPad I can only find Photos, Albums, Faces and Places, not Events.

I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) .  I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha!  I should have paid attention and read between the lines!  My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do!  I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy.  I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events)  ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update!

  • Photos did not update from my iphoto external library

    Hi,
I just updated my mac to OSX Yosemite 10.10.3 which updated my iPhoto to 'Photos'. When i opened it up none of my iPhoto library was copied in. My iPhoto library was on an external drive as a customised library path (so not in the default iphoto library place) is there any way to migrate the 'iphoto' library into the new 'Photos' library?
    Thanks

My iPhoto library was on an external drive as a customised library path (so not in the default iphoto library place) is there any way to migrate the 'iphoto' library into the new 'Photos' library?
How is this external drive formatted? To be able to migrate the iPhoto Library, the drive should be formatted MAcOS Extended (Journaled). And locally mounted, not a NAS or other network volume.
If the library is on a suitable drive, simply drag it onto the Photos icon in the Dock to migrate it to Photos.

  • Why does iPhoto not update via Software Updater in Lion?

So now we have to check for updates in two different places? Lion is getting dumb and dumber.
I hate Lion, too bad the newest iMacs won't run SL thanks to newest hardware config.
Anyone else think this is just insane?

Ah, and now they want me to verify my credit card info to update from iPhoto 9.1 to 9.2?!?
    I think not.
I am seriously going to look at Windows 7 next time.
    This is insane.

problem updating to iphoto 9.6 after upgrading to Yoesmite  I am getting the following message when I try top date iPhoto This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canc

"This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." ?
This error message will appear erraneously, if you skipped the update to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1 and went straight from an earlier MacOS X version to Yosemite, without first updating to iPhoto 9.5.1 and associating iPhoto to your AppleID.
Try first to buy iPhoto with your AppleID instead of updating. Delete iPhoto from Applications, but don't empty the Trash, then go to the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto. If you are lucky, it will show as free and you can buy it directly.
If iPhoto  is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support: Ask for a redemption code. You will need to provide a prove of purchase for your mac with iPhoto preinstalled.

  • I cannot run iPhoto after update to Yosemite.  I cannot update iPhoto because the application store does not have any iPhoto update available.  Anyone can advice how to overcome this hassle?

After update to Yosemite 10.10.3 the iPhoto program icon is banned and there is an error message that an update is required to run iPhoto, but the application store shows a message that iPhoto does not have any update available at this time.  There is not even any iPhoto program available on the application store.  Any suggestion on how to solve this annoyance?

Unfortunately, Apple has removed both iPhoto and Aperture from the Mac App Store so they cannot be downloaded anymore. This means you are forced to migrate to Photos (included in OS X 10.10.3) or, if this app does not include features you need, look for a different app.
Not true. Apple has removed both Apps from App Store so you cannot buy them anymore. But if you have any of these Apps already purchased in the past, then you can still download them on your Mac.

Open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID and go to Purchases tab. If you see iPhoto app listed there close down the App Store and do this steps as this is what worked for me:
Open Finder and go to Applications folder.
    Locate iPhoto app
Drag iPhoto app from your Applications folder to Trash (NOTE: Do not emptied Trash yet)
Open App Store app and navigate to Purchases tab.
Click on Install button which is next to the iPhoto app (on the right hand side).
Once iPhoto is downloaded again, test it if its working for you. If all is ok, you can remove your Trash.

  • I can't update my iPhoto. "Update is not available for this Apple ID".

Updating my iPhoto has always been a problem.  When I try, I get the error of: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
This is the only apple ID I have ever owned, and now that I updated my Mac with the new software, I can't even OPEN iPhoto anymore. Now I can't view any of my photos and I am not a happy camper..
How can I fix this problem?????
    Thanks in Advance!

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.
