Places themes in Aperture have disappeared..anyone know why?
I love the ability to document my travels with the Places themes in Slideshow, but that option has disappeared from the list of options when creating a new slide show...and has removed all of the Places maps from the earlier slideshows I'd previously created.
Hmm, on my mac the "Places" Theme is still there and working.
It is installed in the System Library.
/Library/Application Support/iLifeSlideshow/v2/Styles/Places.mrbStyle/
If you look in your System Library at /Library/Application Support/iLifeSlideshow/ - do you still see the additional themes in the "v2" folder?
Can you use any of the "v2" themes - Origami, Holiday Mobile?
If those themes are missing in your library, try to reinstall them from your backup.

Hello there! I had the same thing with mine. I google'd around a bit and found out that iDVD along with iWeb were discontinued, thus no longer being included even though it was advertised iLife 11' had those apps. but from what i was told iLife 11' on the MacBook Pro 2012s were different.
I called Applecare and complained and my argument was that it was advertised my Mac had iLife 11' so i should get the FULL iLife 11' so eventually they sent me out a disk with the other 2 apps on it. I suggest you call them and see if they can do the same.

My photos on iphotos just became empty boxes, bordered by white intermittent lines. If I click on a photo it comes up, but I can't see what each photo is at a glance. Any ideas how to resolve this? thanks
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the options to rebuild the thumbnails.

Does anyone know why a web page would suddenly pop up telling me I have a computer virus and need to call them? When I've called they said they needed access to my computer in order to fix the problem - which I didn't do. Is this legit? An Ad?

i have been trying to get my ibook g4 fixed from apple for 6 years now. my ram doesnt work and the logic board is f'd up aswell... i know 12 people that have had the same issue. 4 of them got there ibooks replaced. anyone know what to do? all 4 ibooks were replaced outside warranty, why wont apple help me...
Apple supports most of their computer products for a 7 year period, could be that your IBook is well past any kind of help.Secondly parts are no longer being made for this machine and never will be again. Finally I find it hard to believe that nothing has been done with this for 6 years.Have you documented the reasons why you were turned down for repairs ? were the replaced Ibooks within a couple of months of warranty expiration? What model is your IBook ? At least if we knew what the model #, some of the more techy types could find out if there were any repair programs for your model.
Seems odd that you'd hang on to a non-working IBook for that long. -

I can't tell you why the contacts disappear but you can get them back without much hassle by syncing through iTunes with your computer.
do you regularly make backups? if so, you can restore your iPhone using the backups and get your contacts back in your iPhone.
It is strange that half of your contacts are gone over and over again. Do you have Groups that are unchecked in your iPhone? If so, the contacts in those groups will not appear in your contacts list but they are in your iPhone and be recovered by re-checking the group name. -

Just noticed that when I close my mail app by double clicking the home button and swiping up it dies something weird. After doing this when I open my mail, instead of showing all my mailboxes it automatically opens one of them instead. Anyone know why?
Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Podcasts from Current Tv, since three weeks prior to the Nov 2012 election have had a url problem and cannot be played on my mac mini 2011 with 10.8.2 and the latest Itunes? anyone know why> ? I am waiting for the senior advisor to get back to me on this issue. I am in THailand now where the problem is happening and as I said the ISP says they do not block any podcasts.I also do not want it on my iphone 5, so I have to wait and see why the mac mini is not getting it.I seem to have fixed it by putting <div class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

My photos are not showing up as layers in the layers panel, only as one layer, so I am not able to make changes to the layers. Does anyone know why this is happening? Am I downloading them from my camera wrong? I have watched the video and the photos don't open that way on my layers panel. Any help would be appreciated, I would like to edit out the background and turn it a different color.

Photos from cameras or scans have only one layer (the 'background' layer).
You can start with that 'background' layer and duplicate it or add other layers in the editing process. For instance you can make a selection of a subject and put it on another layer; a common use is to desaturate the 'background' and to keep the color in the selected subject in your newly created layer. -
I have an older iMac 5,1 and the disc drive no longer works. I was hoping that I could the Apple USB super drive as a replacement, but the info on the super drive page says compatible with iMac 2012 or later. Does anyone know why it would not work for me?
A reply to similar question (Q & As , in product page Apple Store) says:
"...dissable the internal reader hardware from devices setup. Then plug the external usb superdrive and that's it." Answered by Enrique T from Lima Oct 25 2013.
If you can locate an external Apple USB 'Air" superdrive for earlier model MacBook Air, that should work. The newer one for the Air is the same as for iMac, now.
You may be able to use other brands of external USB optical drive with your older intel-based iMac, as some of them function capably. A few should also be able to see system discs or other bootable utilities on DVD.
