Placing 24/192 WAV files on iTunes for playback through Wadia 170 iTranspor

I record live music on a Sound Devices 722 digital audio recorder at 24/192 as WAV files. I can import the 24/192 WAV file into iTunes on a Mac and the bit rate is displayed as 9216 kps. This makes sense since 24x192=9216. When I click on the song in iTunes it plays back at the correct tempo.
I bought a Wadia 170 iTransport since it says it will output bit perfect digital files. I'd love to hear my recordings this way over my sound system. I understand that this would chew up drive space real fast on an iPod. However . . .
I can't get my iPod to accept the 9216 kps song files. I went to set iTunes / Preferences / Advanced / Importing to WAV but the options for sample rate only go up to 48.0 kps and the bit rate up to 16-bit.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to overcome this will be appreciated.

Hi,
I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
Anyway, thank you,
Chris

  • Selecting WAV files in iTunes for AAC conversion

I've been told in another thread by Ed, a Windows iTunes user, that I can select a WAV song file in the iTunes library, right-click it, and the "Advanced" menu will have the "Convert Selection to XXX (whatever you designate in preferences)" option. However, my Mac OS X 10.4.8 was not able to do this -- there is an "advanced" pull-down menu, but the "convert selection to AAC" choice contained therein is NOT highlighted. I wonder why?

Not sure exactly how the rebuild was done, but if anything didn't get added, just go ahead and add it. This can be done either by dragging the files into the iTunes pane, or by using the iTunes command File > Add Folder to Library.
It is also possible that the files are corrupted. This would be unusual with music WAVs (although not uncommon on voice recorder WAVs). If you are concerned with a specific file, right-click its file icon and choose Open With > iTunes. If it is compatible and not corrupted, it will start playing, and will be added to the iTunes library if it is not already in. But if it gives you the silent treatment, the problem is in the file.

  • I cannot import 5.1 WAV files into iTunes

    Hello
I'm running iTunes 11.1.5 (5) 64 bit on OSX 10.9.2. I'm trying to import some wav files into iTunes, they are about 6-11 minutes long each, they have 5.1 (6 total) channels, 16 bit depth and are sampled at 48,000 kHz. I can run them in QuickTime Player 10.3 (727.3) without any problems, but iTunes will not run them. This stil happens if I try to import the same files when they are in Apple Lossless format as well. I have several other surround sound files sourced from other stuff and they wil not import either, but they still run in Quicktime Player just fine. I don't have any pluging installed for iTunes or QuickTime Player. Does iTunes just not support surround sound audio, or is there something wrong with the files that I'm trying to import?

    Hi Michael,
I bounced a PCM 5.1 WAV Audio File from Logic Pro X, This File alredy plays 5.1 surround from desktop just with the space bar preview and also with QuickTime ok? But Itunes 11 doesn´t import PCM 5.1 (multi) Wav audio files as you know, so I Knew that in the Itunes 11 for the movies tracks the 5.1 surround audio is automatic.See this link below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4072 -
    What I did?
I just imported my audio file to Apple COMPRRESSOR, and choose the H.264 output format and I changed from .MOV to .MP4 (This one Itunes import with multi audio 5.1)
and also select 48 Khz and 720 Kbps. After encoding my audio file from ( 226 Mb) PCM 5.1 Wav about 4.20'  went to a AAC 6 channes 48 Khz / 720 Kbps  .MP4 file with 24 Mb size. Itunes import withou problem and played 5.1 surround as I wish.
I hope you understood my explanation,
    Regards

How to create backup file on itunes for ipod touch 4g game apps data? Is there a way to do it? I want to try an app on my friend's computer, but you can't add apps on another computer without having your own ipod's data being deleted. Thx for any help!
I want to know how to create a backup file (because I'm pretty new with itunes, and it's hard to use it for me still), how to store my app data/media/videos, etc. And how I can retrieve them back when I'm done with the app I tried on my friend's computer.
If anyone can help, it'd be great! Thank you so much!

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
This handy article from Apple explains how
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support''
don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

  • Can't import WAV files into iTunes

I have ripped most of my music to WAV files but iTunes refuses to import them. Neither the add folder function, the add file function, nor the drag and drop will add them. It does absolutely nothing.
Anybody know how to get around this problem?

It's not altering the file. It's simply playing back different.
    iTunes prefs -> Playback.
Untick Sound Check, Sound Enhancer and Cross Fade playback.
Go to menu View -> Show Equalizer and set it to Off.

  • Using usb wav files to itunes library mp3?

Ugh, 2 hrs. later I can finally ask a question,
Ok quick reference - Using a USB(16gb) with wav files I would like to add to my library and convert to mp3 (like importing a CD). I already have my preferences set to MP3 (192), like importing a CD it can automatically convert to mp3. Now using a USB mem. I would like to know how to do the same without having to go through each album to convert to MP3.
I know I cannot be alone on this, I have hundreds of albums to go through and editing and deleting each album will take months. Can't this **** program do an auto-convert like ripping a CD?
I hope my question is clear enough to understand.

    O M F G ! I am such a NOOB, I didn't know it was a link to a file download.
Are you for real Clark? Ok i'm goin' for it honey!
    we'll see what happens.
well so far, what music I already have the info was reversed on all tracks. Album is now Artist and or Genre "ClusterFu*k" of info all out of order. Album art is whatever Hal wants it to be, and the all new 'import' feature ... drum roll please.
POOP! I feel a bubblin' comin'.
Oh well I'm early enough into the redo my itunes 5 times a year, that I can... YES!! START OVER AGAIN!! weeeee!.....
Oh yeah, don't forget to delete the new file -WA WAAAa WA, WAAAAAAA!

  • How to import large library of .wav files into itunes with tags?

I have an external NAS drive where I imported approximately 400 CDs in .wav format utilizing itunes many years ago. My itunes library was recently corrupted requiring a reinstall of itunes. The .wav files are preserved and are filed by Artist folders containing Album subfolders which contain the tracks listed by number and name. The problem is when I reimport the files into itunes the artist and album name is lost leaving only the track name, which makes it impossible to organize a library of music.
I would like to batch process and import the .wav files on my NAS drive into itunes in either a high-quality mp3 or AAC format with the songs tagged correctly to allow for an organized and searchable library. I would rather not have to reburn all of the CDs since that required substantial time and effort.
I welcome any solution to this problem.

itunes can't do what you want. It will do exactly what you said, lose everything, because wav files don't have ID3 tags. And, I suspect it dumps it all into an "Unknown Album" subfolder under "Unknown Artist".
You can try the tagFromFileName script on this page, brought to you by an apple discussion forum regular turingtest2. I have not used it myself, but have seen posts from several people happy with the results!

  • Importing wav. files into itunes on MAC OSX

I have a question, hope someone has the answer.
I am a new mac owner, new ipod owner too.
I currently have 200-300 gigabytes of SHN and FLAC files on my PC (mostly grateful dead soundboard recordings).
I am planning on converting these files to WAV. format with "artist", "album" (show date), and "song" ID tags.
I then plan on copying these WAV. files to my imac or separate external hard drive formatted for MAC OSX.
    OK THE QUESTION (finally, no?),
When WAV. files are imported into itunes are they automatically converted to the MP4 AAC format?
I have looked in the itune PREFERENCES menu I go to ADVANCED and see that there is a control for switching file formats for importing CD'S but there is no mention of importing WAV. files.
On another note it is too bad that Apple has not come up with a file conversion utility for itunes, where FLAC, SHN, and WAV. files could be converted to MP4AAC, Apple Losless, etc...
I appreciate any answers to my question, and also comments regarding the general subject of audio file conversion on the MAC OSX.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Firstly, I must point out that WAV doesn't support tagging, so there is no point in converting your compressed FLAC and SHN files to WAV before making the move over to a Mac.
Rather, it would make more sense to use the free and excellent Max to convert all these files automatically to the format of your choice, such as Apple Lossless. You can even run multiple conversions simultaneously, so you could, say, convert your whole lot of files to Apple Lossless while at the same time convert the same lot to AAC for use on your iPod. The program is highly configurable, allowing you to specify destination directories and whether or not the output files are added directly to your iTunes library. Also, the tagging will be preserved when converting FLAC and SHN files to supported formats.

  • Wav file in itunes

i've got a DVD full of .wav music files that itunes won't recognise to burn into my library- how do i get them converted into itunes files and into my library?
    thanks!

You don't need to "switch" your WAV files into another format in order for iTunes to play or otherwise handle them, as WAV is one of the directly supported formats of iTunes.
As long as your WAV files are "normal," i.e. 44.100 kHz/16 bit/stereo, they should play with no problems. If the files were made with, for example, Audacity, and some random WAV export options, such as "floating point" were used, then they won't behave nicely in iTunes.
Perhaps there is a problem with the approach your using to add the files to your iTunes library? There are a few ways to do this, but perhaps the easiest is to use the File > Add to Library menu.

  • Why are .wav files from iTunes so small?

I'm pretty new to iTunes. The experience has been spoiled by the following problem I have.
On my import options (i.e., Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing), I have set:
    import using: WAV encoder
    custom setting: 44.1kHz, 16-bit
This should be CD-quality CD. As such, each minute should take about 11 MBytes or so. (That's how my wav files ripped from audio CD are). Well I just downloaded Candlebox's Far Behind which is about 5 minutes long, and for some reason it only takes 5 Mbytes on my hard drive. Savings space on my hard drive is of little importance to me. What I really want is top lossless quality. And I have a superfast connection, so that's not an issue either.
    So what's going on here?
Are these settings not for downloading, but rather for ripping music from audio CDs I already have, or what?
    Thanx.

The import setting is for CDs you already have or if you had WMA files and were converting them into iTunes. Downloads off the net are almost always in MP3 format and songs bought off iTunes are in the AAC format (A compressed format just like MP3). I wouldn't worry about it much. If there songs you bought on iTUnes, AAC is a very good sound format and (Far as I know) are just like CD quality
I have bought one or 2 albums in a store on CD and off iTunes in ther AAC format and I can not tell a diff in neither

  • Cant put H264 files onto my iphone or into itunes for playback?

Im using beyond TV DVR software, they released a new feature which will convert my DVR recordings into H264 mp4 files.
    ok, that sounds awesome.
so I convert them, and just import them into itunes. easy enough!
but quicktime cant play the files it creates... when I click them, I just get a solid green image, not flashing like a google search turns up solutions for, and disableing directdraw does not fix it.
but none the less I push on. Ill just put it onto the iphone and see what it does.
no dice, when I try to sync it, I get a "this file format is not supported for playback on iphone" or something like that.
    errrr ok...
well there is that fun little option in the drop down "convert selection for ipod". figure that cant hurt right?
well when that finishes I get a new file, but this one plays back with an all white screen and gives me clear audio. this one will sync to the iphone, but it plays an all black image with audio.
    so... wth.
I want to assume the file that beyond tv is creating is incorrect right? but windows media player has no trouble with it at all. if I right click on the file properties, it is mp4 H264 codec.
having this ability sounded like the best thing since sliced bread, but I cant get it to work for the life of me...

there is not a way to transfer those playlists to that itunes library from your phone, but heres an idea to help you out.
take screen shots of the playlists on your phone then when they get deleted after the sync you'll have to re-create them but at least you'll know what was in them

  • Cannot move my former .wma files to itunes for mac

Over the years, I ripped all of my cds and stored them on my PC.  Because I was using a PC, I ripped this music in .WMA format.  When I got my macbook, I was EXTREMELY disappointed that I couldn't just transfer these files into itunes.  So I did some reading online and found a converter to change my .wma files to .aac files.  Cool (I thought) Problem solved (I thought).  But no, now itunes will not import these newly converted files.  So what's going on here?  I live in an area that has no apple store so I have to rely on the good will you people.

    wuddog wrote:
Sorry for delayed response. Basically I'm transferring (or at least trying to) via the method offered by iTunes - "Add to Library". I've also tried to drag and drop into iTunes with zero success. The fact that .wma is a poor file format does me no good as the original library of 500+ CDs has already been created using .wma. Soooooo..... Why do u think the great apple iTunes is failing to copy my music?
You still have not told us how you converted them.  It is possible the converter isn't producing an iTunes compliant version of AAC.

  • Embed wav file in executable for playing

I would like to embed a wav file in an exectubale (an array of wav files would be best) so that I can play that sound.
I want to distribute one file (the executable) that can play an array of audio tracks from wav files.

You can either store the wav data in a constant like and array of clusters, each cluster would have the wave data (8 or 16 bit mono or stereo: which are 1-d or 2-d arrays of intergers) plus the config info rate resolution or you can store an array of references to wave file paths.  I would go with the second version since you dont bind the data at compile time, allowing for the application to change "sound tracks" without recompiling.  When you build the application you can specify these wave file as support files and lock their paths (probably ./application/data) you can even store the path in the registry if needed.  Good luck.
