Placing a logo

I read somewhere (MacWorld) that you can place a .png file (logo, ie.) with a transparency
over a video or photo clip in iMovie08. BUT I have not yet been able to.
Does anyone know if this is true. Or has anyone ever done it?

ok, in PS it looks a bit strange: mostly empty space and in some corner that lil' logo (why broadcasters call it bug)..
but importing that pic will place the grafic to its wanted position.
I recommend to export a still from within iM to have a 'template' for sizing&positioning..

I've re-opened an InDesign CC document and the placed EPS logos now look bitmapped

I'm on Mac OS X 10.8.5. I'm used to InDesign CS3 and have had a little use of CS5.5. This is my first try of InDesign CC on a live job.
I've re-opened an InDesign CC document made last week and the placed EPS logos now look bitmapped. The same logo (used smaller) on another layer appeared OK. For the main logo, I tried to re-link them, it had no effect. Bringing them in again was no better. The EPS files are still in original folder, right beside the INDD files. I've tried to change settings in Prefs (File handling: Preview size up to 1024) and closed and re-opened INDD CC. Also, my CS4 saveback has the same fault when opened in CS5.5.
Nothing has worked, please advise cause and solution.

Just to note that the "Preview Size" is for viewing pages of your InDesign file in Adobe Bridge, you can choose to Preview None, 2 pages, or more pages in the settings, and choose the thumbnail size.
This is only for programs that can preview InDesign files, like Adobe Bridge.
The preference you should have changed is in the Preferences under Display performance and drag the "Vector Images" slider all the way to the right.

Placing a Logo GIF above the MenuBar in a JFrame

Hi..
I am trying to place a logo image (GIF) in the main frame (JFrame) of my application. I wish to have this image placed above the Menubar and below the Titlebar.
I have set the Menubar using the setJMenuBar() method of JFrame. I have no idea how I would be able to control the placement of the logo gif, and was hoping someone out there would be able to help me out.

Placing image/logo in header

I am trying to place an image (company logo) in the header of my document. I cannot work out how to do this in the new version? Same story with placing a table in the header (to place two logos in the header aligned left and right). Any ideas?

Not sure if you figured it out yet but I did. You can't place an image, logo or pic in the header or logo but, you can do something that will work just as well... still giving you the image/logo on every page.
In Pages 5.0.1, in the setting ( right side ) uncheck the header and footer. Then drag your image/logo on to any part of the page. Resize it to your specs, place it at the top of the page and get it exactly where you want it.
Now, with your image/logo still selected, go to Arrange>> Section Maters>> Move object to Selection Master. Now your image/logo will be at the top of every page.
If you want to edit it or move it just go to Arrange>> Section Master>> Make Master Objects Selectable. Now you can edit it, resize it, move it, etc...
You can do the same process in the footer area.
Not sure why Apple didn't explain this to anyone or put out a video about it but, hope this helps.

be in the PDF format. Now i need to put a logo or picture in the top of all the data. How to write code or what are the steps to
place the picture to bring in the PDF along with the data.

Hi Swarnaprakash,
You mean a logo on top of every Page of the PDF?
if this is your question, then paste the logon in Master Page. It will reflect in all the pages.

I know how to set up a signature in Apple Mail for OSX Mavericks. But when I try to place a logo within the signature, it is not saved? Suggestions?

Sometimes we need to have a little more formatting control than Mail will allow, so we need to format the signature with HTML tags. Using HTML tags we can also do other neat tricks like referencing a logo image file stored on a server so that the logo does not get attached to the message as a transferred file. Changing to a spot color in a logo placed in an indesign document

Creating a docement in ID where I have placed a logo created in AI. is it possible to make the logo color a spot color in ID? I am using CS6 in creative clous on a PC running windows XP.

Why not change it in Illustrator?
Since you're using Creative Cloud you should be aware that the new
applications will not install on Windows XP. The minimum configuration
is Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.

Missing Logo in PDF export

Hi all,
I have a problem with an InDesign document when writing PDFs of it:
When exporting a PDF with the built-in export option sometimes a logo (eps) is missing in the PDF output - here some more info:
- the document is now CS 4/Mac, but it was edited in CS 4/Win before and originally it was built in CS 3/Mac
- the logo eps is correctly connected - InDesign never showed a missing link, the eps' colors are the colors of the pdf output (CMYK)
- the logo eps is working perfectly in other documents and even on an other page of the same document
- the problematic logo is placed on a master/template page in this document - when creating new pages using this master page they seem to have the same problem
- when exporting the PDF via .ps and Distiller it seems to work without problems
- in some exported pdf the logo is visible in some it's missing
Anybody ideas? Solutions? My feeling is, that the document might be somehow corrupted. Is there a way to check the integrity of InDesign documents or is there a (software) solution to repair such documents?

Many thanks, unfortunately none of these ideas helped - i tried:
- export to INX and to IDML and reimport in InDesign 4
- placing the Logo as .ai
- duplicating the master page and using this template
... without having the problem solved.
Then I removed all other elements on this page - and then surprisingly the logo now seems to work. What I removed from the page were some Indesign vector elements (an other Logo which had been placed via pasteboard from Illustrator and which did not seem to have any problems so far). Can this be the reason? Are there known problems with vector elements imported via pasteboard (maybe in combination with exporting the document between Mac and WIN or when upgrading a document from CS 3 to CS 4?)

Logo Visible in Print Preview, but not in pdf and hard copy

Hi,
We have uploaded a logo to be shown in the footer. We are able to see the logo in the print preview, but when we print the invoice (SAP Script), it is not seen in the hard copy. We tried by saving it as a pdf, even in the pdf, it is not displayed.
We are on SAP 4.7
Please help.

Am not sure what the exact issue could be, but i am expecting there may not be sufficient space to fit the logo. I suggest you to check the output by placing the logo in header whether its coming or not in hardcopy, that may help you.

How do I Overlay a Logo on top of a SWF, inside an HGroup ?

Hi Folks,
I use an HGroup to within it, horizontally and vertically center a SWF.
Now, I would like to position a Logo at the HGroup's x,y=0,0 position.
While the logo need to be positioned in the top left corner, the [re]size and [re]position of SWF is not to be affected by the Logo. In effect, the logo is to have not effect on any of the layouts of whatever it visually overlays.
How do I do this?

My brain got fried with all of the previous SWFLoader positioning and centering - so much that I had to stop and clear my head and then this became an easy case of putting the HGroup and the Logo inside a BorderContainer. I had inadvertently placed the Logo inside of HBox.

Why does a TIF image look blurry when placed in InDesign file?

Hi all,
I've placed a logo in my InDesign file that I saved out of Photoshop. It appear blurry when in InDesign and I do have it set to high image quality display so that isn't the issue. It is also set as CMYK and I haven't resized it after saving from Photoshop.
I tried saving a jpg so it would be crisper but then I have a white box behind it when placed in the InDesign file.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I need to send it to print but can't let it go until I'm sure it won't print like a blurry mess.

Sub-pixel sampling. Read up on it. you are placing your images at odd values and it gets resampled. Can be anything from the image inside the frame, the image frame itself, some styling option in ID...

IWeb 09 Logo background

Why when I have placed a logo/picture with a transparent background in a iWeb page. That after you publish and then look at the page online it places a black background on the logo which then blocks part of the picture which is behind

Try publishing to a local folder and launching your site in the browser direct from your hard disk to see if its OK there.
I have had problems with iWeb '09 not publishing changes correctly and also not saving changes in the application.
If the problem exists in the local folder then you need to troubleshoot iWeb.

AI graphic placed in ID CS4 doc changes when exported to PDF

Hi,
I'm attempting to export a 6-page ID CS4 document to PDF, and am having inconsistencies in how the graphics look once they're exported.
I am linking to the exact same Illustrator file when placing the logo on each page, but when I export to PDF, only two of the logo images come out accurately (like below):
The other four come out with an additional black and red outline (like below):
I'm at a loss as to why these outlines are appearing. Does anyone have advice on what kind of newbie mistake I'm making, here?

Bob - I'm viewing the PDF in Acrobat Pro. I'm not sure how much detail you need in the export settings, but the Export Layers option is set to Visible Layers. I tried exporting with the other two options and the problem still exists.
Eugene, Peter & Jeffrey - I went to the Illustrator file and found some extra colors in there. I removed them, thinking that would solve it, but when I relinked and exported it did the same thing.
I just did a test print, and it actually prints correctly - it's just during the viewing of the PDF where the problem occurs.

Logo changing size

I have what seems like an odd issue. I have placed a logo in a subtemplate being called by multiple reports. If I resize the logo it appears correctly on the any Page 1 of X pages in a batch but the page two logo is smaller and in a slighlty different location. I cannot figure out what is causing this or hwo to solve it. The report has only 1 page in the template RTF so there is only 1 header being called and it is calling the same on so why would the size change depending on the page #? Any ideas?

The URL to set logo should work when you edit it in the correct theme. Usually cache issues prevent us from seeing the desired result. By Clearing cache your issue should get resolved. Otherwise if need be you can edit the com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead par file and define the manner in which you want your logo to be displayed in the masthead. Download the par file and open it in NWDS. Search for "logo" keyword you will find it. Edit the current image and upload the PAR file again.

IMovie 11 - Logo overlay problem

Hi - When I place my logo (png format) over my video the video stops in the playback and the audio continues. However if I place the cursor directly on the place where I placed my logo I see the video, audio and my logo overlay. Any advice?

this is a 'flaw' of this trick:
in iMovie, on preview, playback can stutter, no pic, no png, audio only etc.
on final export everything will be rendered and fine - promised!
