Placing an image on top of existing image

I seem to have a lot of trouble with placing an image on top of an existing image and then wanting it to stay relative to the original. As in... I want to put a button on an image of a map. Then later.. will make a hotspot on that area to open another window.
My trouble is with placing the button and then having it stay relative to the map no matter how the browser window moves or is sized.  What is the prefered method using DW CS4?  Can you point to a tutorial on how to do this...
Thanks for your time
Ralph

function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
But, placing one image on top of another in a web page must be a task that happens all the time.. I just have not found a straight forward way to do it yet.
It's really not common.
It can be done via layering (what Dreamweaver calls APDivs) but you may still get layout issues with browser resizing.

  • Cant put image on top of another image

    Hi,
    I'm using keynote 09 with the 'Blueprint' theme. I'm attempting to edit the master slides by putting a company logo in the corner of each slide. This works fine on slides without images, but on slides with images, keynote will not let me put my logo over the image placeholder. The placeholder image always blocks my logo, even when I choose 'Send backward' on the place holder.
    Is there a way around this?
    thanks

    Sorry, I was typing fast.
    The problem is that you cannot put images above media placeholders on master slides. One suggestion was to make my image (my logo comprised mostly of white text) a media placeholder as well, therefore I could edit the master slide and layer my new media placeholder (logo) above the default-already-existing placeholder (some architectural image in the blueprint theme).
    This works but has an additional problem.
    Since my logo is white text, I wanted for it to stand out from the picture beneath it. As I sometimes do, I thought I should place my white-text-logo on top of a small black rounded rectangle with transparency (like a cartouche).
    I like to do that because it makes my logo legible, while still showing the picture through the transparency. INdeed, this is easy to do if you are only dealing with pictures and shapes (and not the magical placeholder versions of them)
    You can make the shape a text placeholder, and you can make the image (logo) a media placeholder, but you can't group the two together as a unit. And if you group them first, then you cannot make your group (shape+image-logo) a placeholder at all, so you then cannot layer it on top of the default image place holders.
    I was saying that I'd have to open my logo in photoshop and put it on top of a 'cartouche' and then import that modified image, and THEN make it a media placeholder.
    But obviously it would be easier if keynote just let us properly layer elements as you would expect it to work.
    I mean, setting images aside, why can't I create a shape and put it in front of a media placeholder without making the shape a text placeholder?
    Of course I can edit my logo and add dropshadow or glow to make it stand out, but even then, I would need to make it a placeholder before keynote would let me layer on top of another placeholder. And if I'm going through the trouble of using photoshop to add shadows or glows, I might as well just put the image on top of a cartouche as originally desired.

  • How to insert/paste image into / over an existing image?

    I have a colorized file that's
    open in Photoshop 6.0 and I want to past a small icon onto a specific spot or area of this
    open image. I am at a lost as to how I can achieve this. Keep in mind th
    is open illustration is basic line art in color and all I want to do is take an existing image I already have saved in the sa
    me folder but want to place it or overlap it onto that main image I have - Thank you!

    Actually, Photoshop 6.0 automatically creates a new layer when you paste an image.
    You can then move it around independently of what you pasted it over via the Move (4 arrows) tool.

  • How to create resized image instance from an existing image

    It looks like the image class does not provide a possibility to create a resized instance. Image#impl_getURL() would be good enough to create a resized instance of an existing image - but could be removed in a future release. So what's the preferred way if I have an image object only - there's no information about the based image resource.

    You can resize an image on loading using one of the constructors that takes requestedWidth and requestedHeight parameters. This is useful for preserving memory when (for example) needing to display a large number of thumbnails.
    Additionally, the ImageView class defines resizing functionality for the view of an Image. So you can load the full Image, then display one or more resized versions in ImageView(s).
    If you need, you can retrieve an Image object representing the ImageView by calling snapshot(...) on the ImageView; for most use cases the ImageView itself will be all you need.

  • I want put on image on top of another image that will be the background

    First, I'm a big believer in doing a "search" to find some existing tutorial to help me.  But, as with the last time I asked a question here, no other tutorial (on Youtube or Julieanne Kost's blog) addressed exactly what I needed.  I came here and got my answer immediately. (searching here seems to only default to asking a question on a new thread so here goes)
    So here's my question this time:  say I have a pic of a beer bottle ( that I know how to select) and I have a landscape pic.  I want the landscape pic as the background and just place (and probably resize) the beer bottle (or frothy glass of beer or whatever) on top of the other image.  Sounds easy, right?  The tutorials on Youtube would spend forever demonstrating how to use the Pen tool and would click here and there quickly and pretty soon I'm just lost.
    I'm going to provide two pics.  If it's different with putting two selected images on the same image background, please explain how to do that as well.  Like I say, the last question I had (putting a label from one bottle to another, remember?) only here did I get clear concise instructions, instructions I didn't get anywhere else.  Please be detailed.  I didn't even know how to open my layers pallette last time!

    Hi there Below I've provided some easy steps for moving a selection from one image to another.
    1. Open up both images in Photoshop - you can see that I have two open tabs, one named "Bottle" and the other named "River".
    2. Grab the Quick Selection Tool from the toolbar, as highlighted below. There are other ways to make a selection (including the pen tool), but for a simple shape like a bottle or a label, the Quick Selection Tool works great.
    To select the bottle, just click and drag to "brush" in your selection. To change the size of the brush, use the bracket keys [ ] on your keyboard.
    3. To clean up yor selection a bit, go to Select > Refine Edge. Here you can adjust your selection. I've check the Smart Radius option and increased the selection radius a bit. When you're done, click OK.
    4. Now you can move your selection over into your background. With your Bottle tab open, go to Edit > Copy (or hit command/control C on your keyboard). Go to the River tab and go to Edit > Paste (command/control V).
    5. Done! The bottle now should be on a new layer with the river in the background. You can now resize or edit the bottle independently of the bacgkround layer.
    If you need additional help, please feel free to post here again. In addition, I've posted two video tutorials below for you to look at. I hope this helped!

  • Placing an image on top of other elements

    Is it possible to place an image on top of two existing
    that already contains an images. The new image would straddle over the two existingbut on top of them. Thanks

    I thought about combining all the <div>s but they would not make a square or rectagle shape. Also inside the header <div> I want to place some tabs for navigation.
    I have attached a jpeg of the comp and you can see the image I want to place on top is the image showing 2 white tanks. The <div>s will be the blue header at the top ofthe page and tthe <div> with the water drop graphic inside. I was not sure if it was possible to put this tank image on top of the other two <div>s, I was thinking maybe it could be a layer on top?
    The other thing I am trying to do is to put the four navigation tabs at the bottom of the header <div> for navigation purposes. I was thinking of making each tab a <div> with the tab graphic and text inside each <div> I just not sure how to place it in the header <div> in that location? Thanks again.

  • PLACING IMAGES ON TOP OF STAMPS

    Is anyone aware how to place an image on top of a user stamp inserted into a PDF document (using Acrobat 9 Pro)?  It seems that images are by default place behind stamps regardless of the order in which they are placed into the PDF document.

    Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, when I add the stamp to the orginal PDF file, they are both on a single layer.  When I try to use any layers function , such as flatten layers, they are not available (greyed). The only option which is available is import as layer, which doesn't work for image files.
    I decided that perhaps the simple solution would be to create a separate stamp for the image each time and then insert.

  • Strange behaviour when placing text frame on top of image

    Hi,
    Win XP, FM 8.04
    I have a front cover that consists of a TIF image that bleeds off the page. On top of that image I want to put a text frame with the book title.
    The strange thing is that when I create the text frame and use the toolbar buttons to nudge it down on the page, the text (but not the frame) suddenly jumps to a totally different place way down on the page, despite only nudging it, say, 10 mm.
    Any ideas why this is happening?
    /Mats

    Hi,
    Partly solved:
    After some tests, it seems FM does not like when you try to move a text frame over a transparent area in an image. The image in question was made by importing a PDF into Photoshop, then saving as TIF. Since the PDF contained an area that was had full transparency in InDesign (i.e. "Paper"), that area was also in the TIF image.
    The strange behaviour starts exactly at the border where the transparency starts. In non-transparent areas, there is no problem.
    Seems like a bug.

  • Placing an image on top of a flash file

    Is there a way to keep a image on top of a flash file? When I
    place it on top then publish the flash file jumps in front of the
    pic when it plays.
    What I am trying to do is place a border around the window. I
    can't just shrink the flash file down because this great program
    causes errors with the flash content.

    There is no way to keep an image on top of a Flash file.
    Having said that, we do a couple things to get around that:
    1: add the border to the flash file-- when we're creating
    swfs for Breeze in Captivate or Flash itself, we add the highlight
    or border there
    2: Add the border to a file that rests behind the flash file
    and make the flash file fit
    It sounds as if you've tried the second, but with no success.
    I 've never had a problem resizing swfs that I've imported into ppt
    through Breeze Presenter. I sthat the issue you're having?

  • Placing images on top of each other

    "I have a png file that is a gradient. I have inserted this
    file into Dreamweaver to use as my background.
    I now want to put some other image files that will go "on
    top" of this gradient image. I cant figure out how to make the new
    images I insert stay on top of the gradient.

    insert it as the background in your CSS. If it goes in the
    wrapper, use
    this:
    #wrapper {
    width: 770px;
    background-image: url(../images/gradientbg.png);
    more rules
    then you can insert your image on top of what is now a
    background.

  • Image on top of text box issue

    I'm attempting to create my own message window that will appear when a text box is full.  I have script in the "full" section of the text box that makes the presence of the image and a few text boxes visible when full.  In design view, I have placed the image on top of the text box.  However, during testing, when the text box is full, the image appears but the text from the text box below also appears on top of the image.  I have tried to setFocus to the image as well, but this didn't help.
    What's odd is that if I navigate to a different page and then navigate back, the image appears correctly.
    Any ideas?  Thanks.

    Thank you very much. I didn't even know how to look up the solution.
    Now I understand what those buttons do and their usefulness.

  • How to get the text to appear on top of the image

    I am using the following piece of code to add a label to a JPanel -
    JLabel label = new JLabel();
            label.setIcon(new ImageIcon("object.gif"));
            label.setText("An object");
            label.setBounds(xCoordinate, yCoordinate, width, height);
            display.setLayout(null);
            display.add(label);The problem is that the image is being placed over the text so I cannot see the text, does anyone know how I can fix this?
    Thanks.

    Try setIconTextGap in JLabel. Or, maybe your bounds
    are too small.
    JLabel also has a constructor that takes both the
    icon and the text at the same time.I know my bounds are large enough because if I comment out the add image then I can see the text and there is enough room for it.
    I don't think setIconTextGap can help me because that will just move the position of the text in relation to the image but I would like it to be directly on top of the image.
    I tried the constructor but that is causing a java.lang.reflect.InvokationTargetException which is fairly strange because the method that im working on does not use reflection or change anything in the method which does.

    Have you upgraded to iPhoto 9.6 for compatibility with Yosemite? If not, try that first.
    It looks like iPhoto has lost the connection between the thumbnails and the original image files.
    This can be caused by a corrupted iPhoto library, or the originals have been deleted or moved.
    Try first to rebuild your iPhoto Library:
    If you do not have a current backup of the iPhoto library, make a copy of the library, but do not overwrite any previous backup.
    Launch iPhoto with the ⌥⌘-key combination (option-command) held down.
    Select "rebuild" from the first aid panel.  This may take a while for a large library.
    Can you now see your photos again?
    If not, rebuild the library with iPhoto Library manager as described by Old Toad:            Re: iphoto crashed

  • How do I get rid of the thin line that goes across the top Persona background image.

    There is a 1-pixel wide light grey line across the top Persona background image between the navigation toolbar and the bookmarks toolbar from left to right. Nomatter whatever persona I have installed, it is there. Same thing also when i hover on any other Persona at Getpersonas.com. It is not there when using any other program and not when only showing the desktop. Only when using FF4. My PC is a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop using Windows Vista. This is not a monitor issue nor a graphic card issue since it only shows in FF.

    for me, it happens on a maximized window. when i do restore to window, the line disappears.

  • How can I add callouts on top of anchored images in CS6?

    I am using InDesign CS6 on a MacBook. I have multiple anchored images in a long document. Some of the images require callouts, such as labels or arrows, which should display on top of the image and should always stay with the image as if these items were also anchored. Is there a way to layer images in InDesign so that they are all anchored?
    I tried grouping the callout objects with the anchored object, but you cannot select an anchored object and other objects at the same time. I know in Word you can create an image canvas and add multiple items to that, and they are all grouped together. Is there a way to do that in InDesign? Or would I have to anchor each callout along with its corresponding image?

    Peter, your advice was very helpful. However, the text boxes (callout labels) that are included in the grouped objects get distorted once the grouped objects are anchored. Each text box shows the red +. When I expand the text box to fit content, the text box expands vertically so that all of the text is below the originally anchored object.
    The other callouts (just lines) stay in place perfectly.  Any insight into why the text boxes don't behave the same way that the lines do?
