Placing an Import process in the Background

Hello -
I have an Import process that is currently running in the foreground on Sun Solaris, and I want to place the PID of the Imp process in the background. How do I place it in the background while it is running? Do I have to suspend, then place in the background?
Thanks.

Not sure. I assume unix or linux being used.
If , for example you were editing a file in 'vi', how would you put that in the background and get a prompt?
Do a 'man' of 'fg' and 'bg'.
Can you put all the import parameters on the command line (or use a cmd file)and append the '&' symbol (above nummeral 7 on keyboard) to the line? Make sure to log import feedback to a file.

  • Export/Import Process in the UI for Variations Content Translation is Generating CMP Files with No XML

We have a SharePoint 2010 Publishing Website that uses variations to deliver contain to multiple languages. We are using a third-party translation company to translate publishing pages. The pages are
exported using the  export/import using the UI process described here: "http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2011/12/02/sharepoint-variations-the-complete-guide-part-16-translation-support.aspx".
Certain sub-sites are extremely content-intensive. They may contain many items in the Pages library as well as lists and other sub-sites.
For some sub-sites (not all), the exported CMP file contains no XML files. There should be a Manifest.XML, Requirements.XML, ExportSettings.XML, etc., but there are none. After renaming the CMP file
to CAB and extracting it, the only files it contains are DAT files.
The only difference I can see between the sub-sites that generate CMP files with no XML files is size. For example, there is one site that is 114 MB that produces a CMP file with no XML files. Small
sites do not have this problem. If size is the problem, then I would think the process would generate an error instead of creating a single CMP file that contains only DAT files. However, I do not know exactly what the Export/Import Process in the UI is doing.
    This leads to two questions:
    1.
Does anyone know why some CMP files, when renamed to *.CAB and extracted, would not contain the necessary XML files?
    2. Second, if exporting using the UI will not work, can I use PowerShell? I have tried the Export-SPWeb, but the Manifest.XML does not contain translatable
content. I have not found any parameters that I can use with Export-SPWeb to cause the exported CMP to be in the same format as the one produced by the Export/Import process in the UI.
As a next step, we could try developing custom code using the Publishing Service, but before doing this, I would like to understand why the Export/Import process in the UI generates a CMP that
    contains no XML files.
If no one can answer this question, I would appreciate just some general help on understanding exactly what is happening with the Export/Import Process -- that is, the one that runs when you select
the export or import option in the Site Manager drop down. Understanding what it is actually doing will help us troubleshoot why there are no XML files in certain export CMPs and assist with determining an alternate approach.
    Thanks in advance

I wanted to bump this post to see about getting some more responses to your problem. I'm running into the same problem as well. We're running a SharePoint 2010 site and are looking at adding variations now. The two subsites with the most content take a
while to generate the .cmp file (one to two minutes of the browser loading bar spinning waiting on the file). Both files are generated with a lot of .dat files but no .xml files. I was thinking like you that it must be a size issue. Not sure though. Did you
ever happen to find a solution to this problem?

  • Contracts - 'Document still being processed in the background; try again la

    Hello,
When trying to make adjustments to multiple contracts we are receiving the error message 'Document is still being processed in the background; try again later.'  We have tried again later to no effect.
Ultimately, this means that these contracts (30 altogether) cannot be altered in anyway i.e. held, deleted, released, approved and it means that they just sit there.
This also has implications when raising another contract to replace these contracts.  For example if you want to use the same vendor this will cause great confusion for our users when trying to select the correct correct to spend money against when raising purchase orders.  Often the result is the user selecting the wrong contract.
Have you any suggestions on why this error message is appearing?
    Many Thanks,
    Sarah

  • Document is still being processed in the background

    Hi guys.
I receive this error when wanting to Change a purchase order in SRM. The PO is already in R/3, and the user has tried to make the GR in SRM. This GR then failed in R/3 because of incorrect accounting data, so I changed this in SRM. Then the PO changed to status Awaiting Approval, but we do not use any workflow for approving POs. Plus when trying to change the PO I get the message Document is still being processed in the background; please try again later. Well, this has been there for over a week now, and I have searched both this forum and also SAP Notes, but cannot seem to find anything that helps me.
There are no locked entries in the BBP_WFLOCK table, just as there don't seem to be anything in the RFC queues. I have checked the SC, PO and Confirmation in the BBP_PD, but no news here.
Something that interested me though is that in BBP_PD for the PO it seems that there are 2 active versions...?
Any other idea as to how I can "release" this Purchase order again?
    Thanks for info.
    DM

    Hi,
Let me know the following things.
    1. Do you see any approver in the approval preview of the purchase order , you have told that you are not using any workflows , but i wanted to make sure.
2.When do you get the message"document is still being processed in the background" ? is it when you change the purhcase order?
    3) please have a look at the workflow log using the transaction 'SWI6', use the object type as bus2200 , use purchase order GUID and then see wether the setreleased has been run for the purchase order.
    4) if the setreleased is not done , then you have to run the setreleased method for the purchase order.

  • Bad workflow ? :-( document is still being processed in the background  :-(

    Hi guys,
I have activated workflow without approval for PO's (saved & changed: WS14000075).
Everything was working fine.. BUT.. For some reason, now some PO documents have the status "Waiting Approval", and if I try to edit them,I got the following message: "document is still being processed in the background"
How can I fix this ?
Thanks for your help guys !
    Best regards,
    Diego

    Hello Diego,
I've already seen this kind of pb.
You should navigate to the admin workflow runtime (menu swld) then administration --> workflow runtime, there is some usefull transactions.
First check the customizing (SWU3) and ensure that workflow runtime is ok.
Then try to restart wi in error (SWPR and/or SWPC) and check RFC transactions (SWU2).
    Rgds,
    Pierre

    Diagnostics Information: ℹ️
        Jan 29, 2015, 09:18:13 AM    Self test - passed

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/libexec;clear;cd;p=(1207 ' 0.5 0.25 1000 1000 15 5120 1000 25000 1 1 0 100 ' 51 25600 4 10 25 5120 102400 1000 25 1000 80 20 500 300 85 25 20480 1024 20     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it. Then go to the next step.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I may not agree with them.

  • How to run a JRockit process in the background(Linux ia64)

    Hello,
I am trying to start a JRockit process 1.4.2 (with a Java app) from an SSH console and make it keep running after I log out. This is on Redhat Enterprise Linux WS 4 with Itanium II processor (ia64).
    The obvious thing such as
    java <options> <class> &
    or even
    nohup java <options> <class> &
Do not work and the process terminates when I log out.
Is there a recommended method or a facility to run JRockit in the background as a service/daemon? Does JRockit has switch similar to –Xrs of Sun’s JVM?
Starting the process on system boot and having to reboot the system to restart it are not acceptable.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Zapta

Zapta did get an answer. You may have missed it if you're using nntp to access the forums, since many newsreaders don't track threads that change the subject. I recommende the using the web UI at dev2dev.bea.com.
Anyway - Use "-Xnohup" with older versions of JRockit. In recent JRockit versions, "-Xrs" works as well, since we seen problems with people hardcoding that flag into various applications launchers (Tomcat for one).
    Cheers!

  • File operation process at the background

Tell me please is background copying in explorere is action by design ? As well as confirmations on delete/remove - they are appearing at the background too.
For example i am at some folder, i choose some iso and press ctrl+c, then i press ctrl+v and what i see ? Nothing - process started at the background!

Roger, he's talking about where the dialogs appear - BEHIND the other windows.
Yes, Windows 8.1 has "pop behind" Explorer dialogs.  It has been happening since Windows 8 came out.
It CANNOT be by (good) design, though I am starting to wonder whether it's because of a lack of design.
When you REALLY learn to appreciate the gravity of this is when something like this happens:
You drag and drop a file to copy it and one of the dialogs pops behind
and prompts you for something (e.g., "do you want to overwrite").  You don't happen to notice its button light up on the Taskbar so you think the copy succeeded, then you do a bunch of work on the assumption that you're using the new
file, then only LATER do you realize it's still waiting for you to answer, to complete the copy.
A few weeks ago I went most of the way through a software release process and nearly released the old software again because of this.
It really does need to be fixed.

  • Schedule Dimension processing in the background

in BPC 7.5 MS version , it is possible to schedule , dimension processing in the background

Yes you have DM package for all administrative tasks more and less which can be schedule into background.
Any DM package as you know can be schedule.
Just check the DM packages from folder: Apshell\PLANNING\DataManager\PackageFiles\Examples.
Especially AdminTask_Process.dtsx is the one which I think is what you need.

  • Firefox will not open a browser now that I installed version 9.0.1. It runs as a process in the background. Can I go back to the previous verison?

Internet Explorer works. However I would prefer to use Firefox - if only I could get it to work.

I also have this problem. I cannot open links from a discussion board I frequent nor can I open links from my email. Also after opening my email, I cannot go to any other sites except my home page. I can then go no where else.
When I close Firefox and try to reopen it, it does nothing! I have to bring up the Task Manager and end the Firefox process before I can get back in.
To the best of my knowledge, this problem started with the new update to Ver. 3.6.9. I am running Windows XP Media Center 2005

  • Numerous TNSPING.EXE processes in the background.

    Hi,
Recently I've met a weird problem in one of my dev machines:
Numerous TNSPING.EXE processes are seen in Window Task Manager, each of which has a memory usage of around 10M or 14M, consuming up more than 1G memory in total. Besides, two oracle.exe instances is consuming all the CPU, and I cannot connect to any of the databases hosted on the machine (No response for long time, no time out) There are also a few perl.exe, cmd.exe running too, don't know whether they are related to the problem. After restarting the machine, it come back to normal, but after one or two days the machine is up, these processes show up again...
This is a screenshot of the process manager:
The machine is installed Oracle 10g, hosting 4 databases. Does someone has any clue of what's going on?
    Thanks

I didn't see this problem for a few days but this morning it comes again. I did a screenshot of the process explorer:
It looks some sub process of nmesrvc.exe is responsible for starting these TNSPING. Beside the three appeared in the screenshot, there're more than ten instances of "TNSPING.exe" running, but have no parent processes.
As a comparison, following is a screenshot of the processes when everything is normal:

  • How to improve the performance of policy import process

    Hello OES 10g Experts,
I have an application specific policy XML of OES 10g. While importing it to OES using policyIX.sh command, the process is taking around 3.5 hrs in DEV servers. The policy XML size is around 2 MB. However there are other applications which are being imported in less than 30 mins.
Perhaps it is due to the size of the XML, the policy import process is taking huge time which may not be viable in production systems. But I would like to know if there is a way to improve the performance of import process. The command syntax I am using is
    ./policyIX.sh -import -disableTransaction config.xml policy.xml
I have tried removing the parameter -disableTransaction but there is no performance improvement.
    Appreciate any inputs.
    Thanks

  • How to Inventorize CVD in import process.

    Dear all,
In my business requirement i have make CVD to be inventorized in import process ,but the thing is that i have to use the same import pricing procedure and i dont want to change the JCV1 (cvd condition type) where accural key is ticked.please revert .
    Thanks&Regards,
    Satya

    Hi,
For the purpose of inventorise the imports CVD duty values in a
Depot/warehouse, then you have two options...
    1. You can simple create a copy of the "J" CVD conditions and create
"Z" conditions, these will then inventorise during MIGO.
The drawback of using Z conditions is if you are creating Rg23D entry
in MIGO then the duty values will not default.
    2. In order for you to use the J conditions & at the same time have the
system inventorise the duty values in MIGO, you will have to use te
exit -J_1I7_USEREXIT_IMPORT_INV_DUTY (Please see attached note 1021736).
This will help in using the J CVD conditions which in turn will default
the values in the respective fields during Rg23D entry creation in
MIGO and add it up to inventory.
Hope this would help. If you are not creating Rg23D entry in MIGO then
you can do it through J1IG, in which case you do not have use the
exit but simply the Z conditions.
    Please note that-
If you are using those CVD condition types which are present in the
excise defaults table (J_1iexcdef) then the system will not inventorise
    them.
You will either have to use Z conditions which are not present in that
table else use the exit - J_1I7_USEREXIT_IMPORT_INV_DUTY (refer note
    1021736).
    Hope this helps..

  • Date bug in import process: 2 sets of dates from same-day shots

I took some photos the other day using my Canon 400D. Some were taken around 1:00 pm, and another series of them were taken around 4:00 pm. I then went to import them into Lightroom from a CompactFlash card, using a cardreader, by using the organize by date option with the format 2005\2005-12-17. When Lightroom's import process gathered the file data for the images, I discovered that there were two sets of dates, viz. 2007\2007-02-24 and 2007\2007-02-25. Considering that I was doing the import on 2007-02-24, the second date was quite in error.
I checked the EXIF data and the files seemed OK. The timestamps on the files on the card were also as expected.
I then manually copied the image files to a temporary folder on my PC. When I pointed Lightroom's import function to that folder, lo and behold, the files were picked up and the correct single date for the target folder was set up for me.
Has anyone else come across this problem? Any suggestions how to work around it from WITHIN Lightroom if it occurs again?
    Witold

Are you by chance using Vista? That would be a "Known issue", the workaround being copying the images to the hard drive and importing from there instead of importing directly from the card/camera.
    Alexander.
