Placing customized artwork on mp3 file?

I would like to add our school logo or customized artwork to our mp3 recordings. Is there an easy way to do this? It seems like the "tag and rename" option is all about finding album art and attaching it to a song, which is not exactly what I want to do. Thanks for any help.

Sorry, i forgot to mention that my art work is missing from my file only when it is on my desktop, and that if i move the file to a folder, the artwork appears, but  then when i move it back to the desktop, the art work is still missing.

  • Transfer artwork to mp3 file

    Hi.
    Is it possible to transfer (copy) the artwork directly into the mp3 file instead of keeping the artwork inside the iTunes library?
    Thanks

    I was trying to solve this problem, too, so I wrote a script that (a) extracts the album artwork from iTunes (placing it in a "album artwork" subdirectory in your Windows temp directory), and then (b) resets the artwork for the selected tracks (and in the process, incorporates the artwork into the mp3 files).
    You may download it by right clicking on this link, http://www.robertmryan.com/tech/ResetArtwork.vbs , and selecting to save the file to your local machine. Then, in iTunes, select the tracks for which you want to integrate the artwork into the mp3 file, and then run this program. This VB script is just a text file, so feel free to open up the script in your favorite text editor if you want to see what it's doing.
    This works for me, but iTunes scripting is a little flaky, so I don't make any promises. I used it successfully on Windows 7 and iTunes 9.0 and 9.1. I'd suggest trying it with just one or two tracks first and make sure it works, before you run it on all of your tracks. It's also a bit slow: It took about an hour or so with 10,000 tracks on my reasonably fast machine.
    I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

  • How do I create custom ringtones from mp3 files in itunes 11?

    I've upgraded to the iPhone 5 from Blackberry, and I have several custom mp3 ringtones I would like to assign... and can't.  How do I do this in iTunes 11?

    You would have sorted it out by now.
    Anyway,
    1. Go to EDIT =>REFFERENCE
    2. Under General, tick TONES, then you will be able to see TONES folder...
    To create ring tone from mp3.
    1. Make sure your mp3 file playback duration is about 30 sec or less.
    2. Add it to your library as you do with music.
    3. Under MUSIC folder, select SONGS
    4. Find the mp3 file you want for ringtone, right click it and find CREATE AAC VERSION
    5. OPEN window explorer, browse to MY DOCUMENTS/MY MUSICS (XP) or Library/my music (Win 7), there should be iTunes folder in there, find the mp3 file... and change the file extension from [.m4a] into [.m4r]
    6. Back to iTunes, add [filename.m4r]
    Now you should have rinetone under TONES folder in  your iTunes.

  • After update (10.7-10.8) Why is album artwork missing, though the artwork is present in Mp3 file?

    I recently updated from Lion 10.7  to Marverick 10.8. My library seems to be intact, all files and previous library organization is as previous. Yet, When I am viewing the library, much of the artwork is missing. (Nearly all apart from recent purchases). However, when the file is being played the artwork is viewable in the smaller panel where the currect track information is displayed. The artwork is also present in each MP3 file, (viewed from finder, or via get info).
    Am I missing any preference setting? Any ideas?
    PS: running latest version of iTunes  11.1.3

    Edit: That is updated from 10.7 (Lion)  - 10.9 (Mavericks) latest OS release
    * I have also noticed that a fix is to open the info for the first track in each release / album, and press copy+paste in the artwork tag section. Then, artwork is shown for each track in the album.
    If anyone knows why this may have happened, I'd be interested to know, as I have a lot of music.

  • When i import a MP3-file, it's placed under 'Podcasts' not 'Music'

    When I import a certain file on my hard drive, it's placed under the 'Podcasts'-directory instead of the 'Music'-directory, which is really irritating, as I now have to go to the podcast-directory every time I want to play it.
    Anyhow, the file is just like other MP3-files I got on my computer - that I am able to import without problems. It's 96kbps and .mp3-format, just like a dozen other song I just imported, and that puts themselves into the music-directory.
    Why does this certain file keep putting itself in the podcast-directory, and what can I do to avoid that?

    If you use iTunes' default settings then when you add a file to iTunes it places a copy of the file in the iTunes media folder and it leaves the original in place.  The exception is when you drag it to the Automatically Add To iTunes folder.
    It does not convert the file.  You can delete the original if you wish.

  • MP3 files don't show album artwork unless I move them to another directory. Why?

    I am running 10.8.3.
    If I navigate to a folder that has an MP3 file in it, the album art doesn't show in Finder or in Quick Look or Cover Flow.  If I move that file, anywhere, it shows correctly.  There is one artist that I had spelled the name incorrectly, and now that the two albums from that artist are relocated to a new folder because the name changed, the artwork is fine for them.
    I have read some other threads about people having trouble embedding artwork, or it not showing up in Finder properly but the issue doesn't seem to be the same as what I am experiencing.  I know the images are embedded because of the fact that when I move them around, they work perfectly.
    Is there a cache that can be cleared regarding this perhaps?
    Does anybody have any ideas?

    If the album art is embedded in the MP3 file in an APIC frame of an id3v2 tag then the music player will display it.

  • ITunes Artwork with no embedded covers in the MP3 files ?

    Hi
    New iTunes user,
    I have a question is it possibly to have artwork displayed in iTunes without having embedded artwork images actually in the MP3 files ?
    I use Windows Media Center and WMP12/7MC just uses the Folder.jpg Hi-Res cover image in each albums folder.
    It appears iTunes only shows any covers if I embed covers in to the MP3 files which I'd rather not do.
    What are my options if any?
    Many thanks.

    I have my entire music collection ripped using iTunes and stored on a Mac mini running Windows. It is all in Apple Lossless format and shared with Windows Media Player and Media Center which can play the Apple Lossless files thanks to a solution I came up with along with assistance from Milenko Mitrovic.
    While I do deliberately chose to embed 600x600 pixel artwork in each track (disk space is cheap), I also put a folder.jpg of the same artwork in each album folder for the benefit of WMP and Media Center.
    The steps I use to do this are as follows.
    1. Rip the CD using iTunes
    2. Tell iTunes to download album artwork for that Album. Life is made much easier if you only do one album at a time.
    3. Look in your Music folder for the iTunes folder and look in that for the Album Artwork folder
    4. In the Album Artwork folder will be a Download folder and in that various subfolders eventually leading to a file called something like A392573AD3DE300C-45855BDAB6F38792.itc2 by checking the file creation date/time you will be able to confirm it corresponds with the one you just downloaded.
    5. Use the free utility bitmaprip available here http://mark0.net/soft-bitmaprip-e.html to 'extract' the real artwork from inside Apple's proprietary itc2 file. You can then move this to the iTunes album folder for that album and name it folder.jpg
    If you then like I do, want to make this artwork embedded, then do the following extra steps.
    6. Select one of the tracks for the album
    7. Copy the artwork to the clipboard
    8. Clear the downloaded artwork
    9. Delete any folders left in your Album Artwork folder so they do not confuse you for the next album
    10. Select all the tracks for the album
    11. Paste the artwork in

  • How can I embed all my artwork to my mp3 files?

    I have just spent several days organizing all my music.  This included manually adding artwork to all the albums iTunes couldn't find artwork for.  This was painstaking and incredibly tedious but I finally finished ... only to find out that it hasn't actually been imbedded.  When I tried importing my iTunes media folder to a different account on my computer, most of the artwork was gone!
    It's still all there on my account, but whenever I open itunes on another windows account in this computer, most of the artwork is gone.  I'm guessing all the album artwork I added is being stored in the album artwork folder and was not embedded in the files.  How can I force iTunes to embed ALL of the artwork to the files.  I want to be able to just click a button and let iTunes take care of it, not click each album manually to do it (I've had enough of that).  I tried using teridons itunes script but it only works for older versions of iTunes.  I'm using iTunes 11.

    The tracks you've manually added artwork to ought to have it embeded. It is art obtained automatically from the store that doesn't get embedded. iTunes doesn't use art stored locally in the media folder, if you have any of that it has most likely been created by Windows Media Player.
    My script CreateFolderArt can be used to embed art in any track that will take it. Use only if your songs are in proper Artist & Album folders. Unlike Teridon's script (which should still work if you remove the test for iTunes 7 and don't have too many playlists!) mine assumes each folder only contains tracks from one album and saves the artwork as Folder.jpg.

  • How Do I Use an External MP3 file Without Embedding it? (AS2)

    I am using Adobe Flash CS6 with ActionScript 2.0.
    I have compiled my project, and due the collection of embedded mp3 files (background music) I am using on various locations, my published swf file is over 12MB.
    To reduce the size, I placed all the mp3 fiels in the same folder as the swf file and removed all reference to them from the project.
    I then added this code to frame #1
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.media.Sound;
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    var CreditsMusic:URLRequest = new URLRequest("NineWalkers.mp3");
    var s:Sound = new Sound(CreditsMusic);
    CreditsMusic.setVolume(50);
    CreditsMusic.start(0,1);
    Obviously, this is not working (I would not be posting here if it was).
    What am I doing wrong?

    I haven't look into the help documents (you can), but I see you mixing up AS2 and AS3 code, along with treating a URLRequest (AS3) as if it is a Sound object....
         CreditsMusic.setVolume(50);
         CreditsMusic.start(0,1);
    If you want to work with the Sound class in AS2 open the help documents and see what properties and methods are available for the Sound class and work things out from there.  If you search Google using "AS2 Sound loadSound" you might get some good info as well.

  • Problem with mp3 files after upgrading to iTunes 8.0

    I have the following problem in iTunes after installing the 8.0 version:
    I have noticed that certain (mp3 in this case) files do not play or download Album Cover from iTMS.
    These files were in normal condition at least 1 day ago, before the update and I can still find them in my iPhone which has not been sync since the iTunes update.
    Things I've done before posting:
    1. Checked the files that they still exist in their original location as they are set in iTunes preferences.
    2. Those files can be played either in Quick Time or in Finder Quick View (and Real Player and VLC).
    3. I have restored the mp3 files from Time Machine but no solution found.
    4. I have backed up and erased and created a new iTunes Library and tried to import them again on an empty library but nothing happened.
    5. The files existed in iTunes (without Artwork which they did have previously) but I could not play them (double-click etc). Then I removed them, I cannot add them again (either by 'Add to Library' or by drag-drop)
    6. Of course, I did a volume repair and permissions repair by booting from the OSX install DVD.
    (edit) 7. I moved the files on my MacBook Pro and tried to add them in the iTunes there (completely empty and different library). This also had no result...
    So after all these, the files are still not accepted in the iTunes but they still exist (and are playable) in my iPhone after yesterday's sync.
    Any ideas? because i'm running short atm

    Had the same problem with the new update. I finally got back to my previous version by using system restore. After the restore I had to go to the "All Programs" list and click on Quicktime and iTunes individually to allow them to re-configure, then had to restart the computer again. After that all's well. My lbrary was intact.
    I tried everything to get the newest version to work, including completely uninstalling my current versions of QT and iTunes, then downloading the latest directly from the Apple website, but, after 3 attempts, nothing worked. Guess I'll have to wait for the next update and try again.
    By the way, your library is not actually stored in iTunes--it is stored in your Music folder, so you should not lose anything by uninstalling iTunes if you need to.

  • How do I create MP3 files on my new iphone from old tmobil voice mail msgs?

    Hello! >>> iPhone master techies......... help~!~ I'm an "X" TMobil customer who recently switched to ATT and purchased an iPhone 3G. I forwarded 20 voice mail messages from my old TMobil phone to my husbands TMobil phone before having it disconnected and switching the sim card over, as salesman I bought phone from at ATT store said I'd lose them all if I didn't do this. They're ''THAT'' important to me to save, my grandbaby's messages, too dear to ever lose.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Question: I was told by a manager at an APPLE store "to turn the voice mail messages now on husbands tmobil phone into mp3 files", which could then be downloaded to my iphone [as sound bites??]. Does anyone know how this is done and if so, can you PLEASE tell me how to do this? If you need more of what the manager at Apple said to me, I'll continue with that, just ask.
    it's an iPhone specific question to me > regarding _my new_ iPhone.
    sorry if this wasn't the right place to put the inquiry but for a new person trying to figure this phone out, it's pretty confusing. I'd invite anyone to try to get info [from any number of sources] with any luck or help.
    having said all that, I thank you for this post, if nothing else, I can call them and see how much to have them do it. doesn't seem an unusual request should be pretty straight forward and easy to do if you're in the know, I am not.
  • Itunes exclamations moved mp3 files to new hard drive
    hi
    i recently bought a new computer (quad) and the new hardive is big enough to put all my mp3s onto one hardrive. so i put all 80gigs worth into one folder called "mp3s" and then i have sub folders to categorize them as latin etc...obviously itunes will display ! on every song now that they arent in their original location...so i went to advanced tab and made the "mp3s" folder the default music folder and assumed itunes would be smart enough to reestablish links to every song in my playlists...but no!!!...i tried one posts suggestions which worked the best (creating xml file etc)..but most all of the songs in my playlists still didnt show up...and every song in playlist is located in the "mp3s" folder so i assume it couldnt handle 80gigs worth of songs?
    my complaint with itunes is i use to use some mp3 player on OS 9 that was smart enough to reestablish links to multiple playlists by simply selecting one song in the playlist and selecting the new location of the file, then it would automatically see any other mp3 contained in any subfolders and reestablish links to it....simple...why cant itunes on OS X do this.
    any help appreciated
    thanks
    after reading many posts on apple, talking to apple tech support and googling nothing solved my problem completely...however i figured out a way to get it to work for me
    MY SCENARIO:
    before i had two different drives with 20gigs of mp3s on each drive and itunes on another drive...my files are organized by genre not artist so having itunes oraganize my mp3s is a no go and i have alot of playlists that i spent alot of time organizing so i didnt want to loose them.....when i got my G5 i finally had enough room to put all mp3s in one MP3 folder and thats what i wanted to do.
    STEPS I TOOK:
    1. I exported every playlist in the itunes on my old computer by going to file/export song list. then saved as .xml file. heres a link to apples directions:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93763
    2. I trashed all itunes prefs in user/home/library/preferences and all files in the user/home/music/itunes folder on my new computer...then i opened itunes and it goes thru standard steps and opens to an empty library.
    3. I copied all my mp3s to my new computer and placed them into one folder called MP3's ( you can copy or move to any drive(s) or folder (s)you want)
    4. then i went to itunes/file/add to library and selected the MP3s folder and itunes added every mp3 to the itunes library. (if you have mp3s on multiple drives simply continue to select the folders containing the mp3s and add them to the library)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301509
    5. import the .xml song lists in step 1...as it imports some will import instantly, others you might see a progress bar as it searches...if some mp3 files in the playlist are missing it wont display them in the playlist.
    6. all mp3s should now be in the library and all playlists connected to the songs no more exclamation points.
    3. also afterwards or even in step 4 go to the advanced tab in the preferences and select the folder you want itunes to point to if you put all mp3s in one folder on one drive...make sure the "keep itunes folder organized" and "copy files to itunes music folder" are unchecked.
    FINAL THOUGHTS
    eventhough this wasnt that tough, this process could be made simplier by apple making itunes smart enough to locate broken linked files. i forget the name of an mp3 player i used on OS 9 but if i decided to move my mp3s to any other folder or hardrive, and reopen the mp3 app, it would show the files couldnt be found in the playlist, then when i clicked on one missing song the app was smart enough to scan that folder for any other mp3s in the apps playlists and automaticallly reconnect to them.
  • How do I extract album art from an existing MP3 file?
    I have a folder of MP3s that all came from a rare out-of-print album. The album is so rare, I can't find an image of it anywhere on Google in any countries. I lost the cover artwork for the album, but it's embedded in the MP3 file because it pops up when I play the song or in the preview window. Fine good-resolution picture, too.
    How do I extract the image so I have a separate image file again?
    ...hopefully without buying new software to do it?
  • MP3 files won't play in iTunes (Vista), but will play in WMP/iTunes (Mac)
    I have a strange problem that's starting to get incredibly frustrating!
    Have a wonderful Mac (powerbook g4 1.5 ghz), got a new PC recently, running Vista and iTunes 7.5.0.20, and transferred my iTunes library over.
    I've found that a significant number of MP3 files (maybe 5% of a library of 5397 songs) refuse to play on iTunes, but play just fine in Windows Media Player or in iTunes on my Mac.
    The problematic files exhibit the following symptoms:
    If I double click one of the files to play it (or hit the play button), nothing happens
    If I set album art to show for the selected song, I get the mesage "Album Artwork Not Modifiable" in the album art box
    If I try to convert one of the files to MP3, I get the error "Error occurred while converting the file "foo". An unknown error occurred (-50)."
    The problematic files have artist/album/title info, but they have nothing listed for "Format" "Channels" "ID3 Tag" or "Encoded With" (the labels don't show at all in the "Summary" section of Get Info
    Any suggestions? Right now, I'm thinking of re-encoding the problem files on my Mac, but that's a pretty kludgy workaround. Ideas would be appreciated!
    Thanks!
    I had this same problem and found a solution. I used an external program for ID3 tagging (MediaMonkey) and the tags it wrote for a few files must have been corrupt. As a result iTunes would not play the file. I simply re-tagged the files with MediaMonkey again and the problem went away.
  • How do you force itunes comments to ID3 tags in MP3 files?
    I have comments all throughout itunes. The mp3 files do not have those comments in the ID3 info.
    How do you force itunes comments to write out to ID3 tags in MP3 files?
    The folder and files all have write permission.
    Yeah, don't do that, you probably also degrade the sound quality... If you've confirmed it is something odd with multiple tags try this.
    Select a group of mp3 files (You might want to start with a smart playlist so you don't mess with any other format)
    Right-click and use Convert ID3 Tags > None (may need to repeat this step if multiple tags)
    Then right-click and use Convert ID3 Tags > v2.3 (v2.4 support still patchy from various accounts)
    Downside is that it will lose any embedded artwork, but it should preserve all other meta-data, both tag-based and stored within the library itself.
    In fact, if you use my CreateFolderArt script before and after updating the tags it should archive any artwork as a local Folder.jpg image for each album and then reinsert that image on the subsequent run... Check it out on a single album first. If it doesn't work as expected let me know and I'll tweak the script to achieve this end.
