Placing images from Bridge CC breaks Indesign Doc

This seems to be intermittent but it's occuring only when I place images from Bridge to an InDesign document.
I've experienced this bug before with InDesign but now it seems to happen more often when I drag an image from Bridge to an InDesign doc.
After doing this I'm unable to Save the document or undo/redo anything. I know others have experienced this same bug. The only way I was able to fix the document was to close InDesign (and lose any unsaved changes) and then reopen the document. Then I create a new document and move all of the pages of my document to the new doc and resave it. This seems to stop the problem from happening.
This is a serious bug: a) It's hard to pin down what causes it but it seems to be permission related to the document b) there is NO way to recover your unsaved changes, you can't copy your objects to a new document and save it as once the program breaks you can't save ANYTHING.
Has anyone had success permanantly fixing this? Or run into it at all?

Windows or MacOS?
Because in Windows you can circumvent this by using the Explorer. I used to drag 'n drop images (ID CS6) and other files all the time - nothing like your problem so far.

  • Problem trying to batch resize images from bridge.

    I am trying to batch resize images from bridge. I am on windows 7 desktop and using CC, I select the images in bridge, tool bar>tools>photoshop>image processor. After doing this, photoshop CC opens but no images open.

    open photoshop, open actions pallette, click new action (windows > actions (or Alt+f9)), click record, open your image, resize it, click stop action.
    then use file> automate > batch
    the action you just recorded will be ready to use, select the folder with all your photos (wise to work on a duplicated folder incase you mess up)
    run the action.  wait while photoshop opens and resizes the images one by one.
    check in folder if the images resized how you expected.

  • Missing stars when importing edited images from Bridge - why?

    Why do my previously rated images from Bridge appear without the stars after conversion to DNG and importation into Lightroom? I am having to use the "Update DNG Preview and Metadata" under the Metadata menu to see the stars again. I thought with CS3 and Lightroom 1.3 metadata between Bridge and Lightroom automatically shows up?

    It works on my system.
    (Rated in Bridge Content Tab by clicking on Star Rating on bottom of thumbnail frame.
    Went to Lightroom, Import Photos from Disk; chose "Copy photos as Digital Negative (DNG) and import", chose a folder to "Copy to" etc.
    The photos appeared in Lightroom with Star Ratings on Thumbnail frames and in the metadata panel.
    I used Bridge CS3 V2.1.1.9, Lightroom V1.3.1 on Windows XP Pro SP2.)

  • Anyway to import just labeled images from Bridge to LR?

    Is there a way to import into Lightroom, just your labeled images from Bridge?
    I navigated to a folder and LR does not even seem to show the labels at all, nor less a way to import only labled images. thanks.

    LR does not even seem to show the labels at all, nor less a way to import only labled images
    Labeling is not universal as star rating seems to be. I have several apps that read each other star rating none of them reads label. Also when having change the default name for labels often the older files with color label have still the at time assigned name but loos the color and change to white.
    Is there a way to import into Lightroom, just your labeled images from Bridge?
    Create a folder that you can easy access when importing from LR. In Bridge select the label(s) you want in the filter panel and move or copy the labeled files to that folder. Now in LR you can import them.

  • Dragging a single image from mac Preview to InDesign CS6 doesn't work but 2 or more images does?

    I usually take anywhere form 2500 to 5000 photos in any single day's session. Because of this, I need an easy way to sort through them and grab just the one's I need to import to my InDesign "book". I have been using CS3 for years now, and what I always did was open up Preview on my Mac to browse all my days photos. Then when I found a good one, I would simply drag that single image over to my opened InDesign screen and just drop it into a page. I would then go back to Preview and continue this procedure until I had looked through all the days images. I could even drag multiple images over and once I was over InDesign I can just click each image and pop them into various pages with ease. Then I upgraded to CS6 and I've hit a kink in the works. When I drag over a single image to InDesign, before I drop it into the page my mouse pointer looks like 3 tiny paste images (the little rectangle with the folded down upper left corner). If I release my mouse to drop the image into InDesign, it just flys back to Preview and doesn't drop into InDesign. Now if I get 2 or more images from Preview, this process works just like it always did. But 1 single image... never. I've tried holding down command, shift, control, option, and combos of those buttons to see if anything changes and it never does. I always get the mouse icon with 3 little paste icons. In CS3 if I dragged a single image it would only show 1 paste icon and 3 icons if I dragged 2 or more, but not in CS6. Is there a setting I'm missing or a preference? I've tried looking through everything that I can find to no avail. There has to be a way??? Thanks!

    Use Bridge instead
    good luck

  • Script for replacing Image from a frame into InDesign document file

    Hi All,
    I am having an indesign document (indd) file with images and texts. I am using InDesign Server CS4 to run the scripts via SOAP.
    My requirement is to replace any of the images from the required frame/s of indesign document through scripting (I already have frame id of which image needs to be replaced). I have written written java-script file (as given below): but when I execute this java-script on InDesign Server via SOAP, I get follwoing error into InDesign Server:
    10/03/09 15:15:54 INFO  [javascript] Executing File: \\Server_IP_Address\JavaScript_File_Path\JavaScript_File.js

    Following is the java-script that is being used for replacing image from indd's frame:
    var myDocument = app.open(File('//Server_IP_Address/InDesignDocument_File_Path/Sample.indd'));
    var tmp_frmid="1339"; //frame id of which image needs to be replaced.
    for (var i=0;i<myDocument.pages.length;i++)
    var objPage=myDocument.pages.item(i);
    var objPageitems = objPage.pageItems;
    try
    var obj = objPageitems.itemByID(tmp_frmid);
    obj.images[0].remove;
    obj.appliedObjectStyle = null;
    var myImage=obj.place(File('//Server_IP_Address/Images_to_be_reolaced_Path/ImageFile.jpg'));
    var old_height = myImage.geometricBounds[2] - myImage.geometricBounds[0];
    var new_height = obj.geometricBounds[2] - obj.geometricBounds[0];
    var old_width = myImage.geometricBounds[3] - myImage.geometricBounds[1];
    var new_width = obj.geometricBounds[1] + ((new_height / old_height) * old_width);
    myImage.geometricBounds = [obj.geometricBounds[0] + "mm", obj.geometricBounds[1] + "mm", obj.geometricBounds[2] + "mm", new_width + "mm"];
    var diff = obj.geometricBounds[1] - myImage.geometricBounds[1];
    myImage.move( undefined, [diff,0] );
    break;
    catch(e)
    myDocument.save('//Server_IP_Address/InDesignDocument_File_Path/Sample.indd');
    var previewFile = File('//Server_IP_Address/Images_to_be_reolaced_Path/ImageFile.jpg');
    app.jpegExportPreferences.jpegQuality["JPEGOptionsQuality.low"];
    app.documents.item(0).exportFile(ExportFormat.jpg, previewFile);
    myDocument.close();
    I have very urgent requirement; if anyone have any idea; please suggest me. \
    It would be highly appreciable.
    Kind Regards,
    Prashant.

  • CS3 Extended - Can't get images from Bridge to open in Photoshop

    I am wondering if I have this CS3 installed incorrectly.  I had CS2 before and after my hard drive failed I ordered CS3.  Before the new CS3 arrived I downloaded Picasa from Google and that was my image viewer in the interim. I also installed a trial CS2 on my computer from finding it on the internet.  When I downloaded CS3, my RAW images were opening up in Picasa which I didn't like.  So, I went to Picasa's software and clicked no to opening RAW images in it.  That fixed that problem and I also uninstalled the CS2 trial.  But now my CS3 Adobe Bridge doesn't recognize that there is CS3 Adobe Photoshop when I want to open TIFF or JPEG images.  It opens them in Windows viewer.  Even when I right click on an image in Bridge to Open with, it only offers me two browsers, Firefox and IE.  Where do I go to reset the Bridge images to open in Photoshop?  Right now I have to switch back to Photoshop from Bridge and go to File-Open.

    In Bridge, go to Edit->Preferences->File Type Associations

  • Drag-and-drop image from Bridge to same spot in template?

    I have a template set up that includes a photo border in the center. I have to apply this border to every image that goes into one of our documents. Each image is cropped in Photoshop to the exact same size before having the border applied in Illustrator.
    Is there a way to set up my template such that, when the image is dropped onto it, it always lands in the same spot? I.e., right now, I drag an image over from Bridge, and drop it on the template, and it lands off to one side (or wherever I drop it), and then I have to drag it into place inside the border (which is part of the template).
    This doesn't take a lot of time, but I frequently need 100 images in a document, and what little time it does take adds up.
    Thanks in advance.

    Why not simply adjust the link for the image in the Links palette? Certainly could be contained in an action, if need be for duplicating and exporting multiple images...

  • PSE9 and importing images from Bridge

    I have been using PSE8, and Bridge on my Mac for importing photos to the computer.  I uninstalled it before  upgrading to PSE9 and find Bridge no longer is used, and it seems the Organiser is the way to go.  How do I import all the images (several hundred) that were stored in folders on Bridge to PSE9's Organiser?  Will the folders come across intact, or will I have to sort and grade them all again?  Should I reinstall PSE8 just to use Bridge?  Any advice appreciated.  Thanks. Susan199

    Nothing is stored in Bridge. Bridge is just a file browser: it shows you the current state of any folder you point it at.
    If you want to Organize your photos, just use File>Get Photos>From Files and Folders and have it import the images in your current folders. Bridge keywords are metadata keywords recognized by many programs including organizer (however, organizer keywords, like those in iphoto, are proprietary to organizer and will not automatically be picked up by other programs, unless you write them into the files).
    If you want to use Bridge with PSE 9, that's also possible, with the caveat that you can't update the bridge raw converter anymore, so you won't see thumbnails for images from newer cameras. Directions on using an existing version of bridge with PSE 9 are here:
    http://barbarabrundage.com/2011/01/13/using-bridge-with-photoshop-elements-9/
    Organizer has a folder view which will recognize your existing folders, but if you decide to make Organizer your photo manager of choice, it's best to stop thinking in terms of folders. Use tags instead and stop thinking using folders for organization.

  • How do I import GPS information for all of my images from Bridge into Lightroom 5.3?

    After importing my images into Lightroom 5.3, I discovered that the GPS location data was imported for some images, but not for others.  When I checked the metadata files for the same images in Bridge, the location data was present for all of my recently downloaded images.
    Why would Lightroom import the GPS data for some images and not others?
    Is there any way to import the location data from the Bridge metadata files into Lightroom?

    Tony,
    Thank you for your suggestion.  I had already tried several approaches along those lines without success.  In the end, the GPS data was still present in Bridge metadata file for each image, but not in the Lightroom metadata files for the same images.
    So, I went back to Lightroom, and did some further exploring on the internet for solutions.  Just as I was wondering whether or not the problem might be rooted in my download presets (i.e., setting copyright into, etc.), I stumbled across a reference by a Pentax owner that identified the same problem.  Here's the link:
    http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/115-pentax-k-5/203274-gps-data-not-importing-into-light room-4-2-a.html
    In a nutshell, I can download all of the metadata, including the GPS location information, but only if I do NOT use any metadata presets.  If I use a metadata preset when downloading my images, no GPS data can be seen in the Lightroom metadata files, but it does import into Bridge's metadata files.  I've now tried this both ways, several times now, and have verified this result.
    I also tried re-downloading images with no presets, and replacing (copying over) the image from my original download.  This did not solve the missing GPS data in the Lightroom metadata.  From this point, all that I could think of doing was removing all of my recent downloads from Lightroom, and starting over.  However, I'd already started editing my images, and I didn't want to lose that time.
    So, I re-downloaded all of my recent images from my memory cards as a copy into each file without any metadata presets.  Then, after selecting the copy first, followed by selecting the original (order is important), I toggled 'Sync Metadata' under the Metadata tab in Lightroom.  Voila, the GPS data appeared in the original metadata.  When this is done for all of my images, I will delete the second copies in my files.  Once I am satisfied that everything is okay, and my images are backed up satisfactorily, and only then, will I reformat my memory cards.
    This whole experience has surfaced an interesting quirk in Lightroom, or in my Lightroom settings that I don't understand.  It may be something that Adobe might want to look into further, if others are finding a similar problem.

  • Cannot open images from Bridge

    I have installed and updated both PhotoshopCC and BridgeCC.
    I can display the images in Bridge. However, whenever I double-click on them I get the following error message'
    "Windows cannot find C:\Programfiles\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 bit). Make sure you typed the name correctly and the try again."  I can open the files from PhotoshopCC without going to Bridge.
    What can I do?
    This may be related to the above problem: PhotoshopCC does not seem to set the file associations.

    I deleted and reinstalled Photoshop CC. Everything seems to be ok now.I think I have solved the problem. If you have Photoshop CS 6 in your system and then install Photoshop CC, Photoshop CC overwrites all pertinent entries in the file association. The problem comes when you then de-install the older version. The uninstall procedure erases all the file association emtries, although they are labeled as CC. This leads to the problem desribed in my first post.One can solve it by uninstalling and then re-installing Photshop CC. What seemed to be a "Bridge" problem is relly a "Photoshop" problem. If you want only one Photoshop version on your system, uninstall the older version before you install Photoshop CC.

  • Unable to open image from bridge to ps

    Am running Windows 7 64 bit, with CS5 64 bit.
    When I try and open a tiff file in Bridge to Photoshop, no dice.
    Control/O does nothing.
    "Open with" wants to open in Internet Explorer 9 (default).
    No trouble opening from Bridge to ACR.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Jane E

    Hi Noel,
    Thanks so much for replying.
    Under Bridge>pref>file type assoc. are listed three items:    Internet Explorer 9.00
                                                                                                           Com surrogate 6.1
                                                                                                           Brouse
    "Brouse" goes right to the "MY documents" folder, in which are listed many folders but not Photoshop.
    I think I see light at the end of the tunnel. Can you help me find Photoshop?
    Jane (hopeful now)
