Placing multiple images in order

Sorry if this has been discussed. I searched, but didn't see anything. Anyway, when I try to place multiple images with the new bullet cursor or whatever it's called, the images don't stay in order. i.e. I select images named 1-50, when I place them, they get placed as 1, 15, 7, 28, etc. How can I get them to stay in the order I select? It makes for a serious pain when trying to build contact sheets.
I wish they wouldn't have gotten rid of that feature in CS4 (create contact sheets from Bridge).

I see nobody else has anything useful to say...
I don't know how to get files to stay in order in the cursor, except perhaps to have them named in alphabetic order. I think the ordering is controleed by the OS. Are you aware that you can use the arrow keys to scroll through the thumbnails in the loaded cursor until you get the one you want? Would that help?

  • Placing multiple images in a grid

    Hi guys
    I have a pretty simple request I need help with. First off I know a lot of programming and do a lot myself, but I've never touched Photoshop's ability, so bear with me.
    Basically what I need to do is place a large amount of roughly card-sized images in a document to maximize space so that I can print them out. I have many many more cards than will fit on a page so that has to be taken into account (nearly 200).
    If anyone could shoot me the probably very simple script to do this (including resizing) I'd be grateful. I can mess around with the actual numbers and get it to work but I wouldn't know where to start and I'd like to have it ready to print out in about 2 hours (it's a drinking game and I'd be heading out about then!)
    Thanks for any help guys.

    I have not used this one myself (I use Bridge and Indesign for this sort of stuff) but this may well give you everything you need…

  • Loading/Placing multiple graphics in the correct order

    Hi. This might be hard to understand but... On a Mac (OSX 10.5.5) when placing multiple graphics at once in InDesign CS3, is there a way to have the graphics loaded/placed in the same alpha-numeric order that they show up in an open folder window (sorted by name) in the Finder? They are in correct order in the finder window with the absolute value of the file number taken into account instead of the number of decimal places (for instance 8000 comes before 12000) but they seem to load up in the placement cursor by referencing the first digit instead. I know this has been how it's always worked, but Apple has fixed the dilemma. Is Adobe just behind in this idea? Is there a better way for me besides renaming all the files or placing them one by one? I just tried changing the links palette to "Sort by name" but they go into old school computer alpha-numeric order based on the first number unfortunately. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Mike

    I don't have a real answer, but my "peanut gallery" comment is that alphabetizing has been eff'd up in OS X since 10.0 (Finder and other apps), and never works reliably in all instances. Though it has been fixed up "better" by now, 10.5.
    Makes me long for the good old days of OS 9 where everything worked right.

  • How To Place/Open Multiple Images Into Separate Layers For ONE Document?

    I've been searching for the answer for a long time so I figured that someone here has to know.  I have PS Elements 9.
    So I would like to make GIFs and I know how to do so, the problem is placing in those tens of files in layers (it's tedious).  Is there a way to select multiple image files to place into a single document?  And for them to be place into its own layer?  I've tried dragging and selecting from the Open/Place menus (won't allow), SHIFT + Direction Key from the Open/Place menus (won't allow), tried opening them to drag on the Organizer and to drag from the Project Bin (again won't allow), and I've read tutorials where they say to use scripts and actions but I'm not sure what to download them in order for them to work and the links are broken anyway.
    An example of what I'd like to do:
    Open and place in 15+ screenshots into layers but in just one document.
    Each screenshot would be one layer in said document.
    ...rest of GIF process...
    I feel like there's an easier way to get this without placing in each one at a time.  I remember being able to do this on a old PS (though not Elements).  Thanks for any help.

    The quickest method is probably opening all images together from Full Edit:
    File >> Open
    Then navigate to the folder and use shift+click to select a block of files.
    The images will appear in the photo bin. Drag and drop each one into the main editing window and a separate layer will be created for each.

  • Bridge CS4 won't output to pdf multiple images with same filename

    Hiya...my googling efforts have thus far failed!
    I've got CS4, and in Bridge, I created a New Smart Collection to find all filenames in a folder containing "." or ".jpg" - which in turn searched through all the subfolders like what you used to be able to do in Photoshop CS3.  Very simple stuff, but all the images are jpg's, but in multiple folders (I don't want to move them out of the folders, as the files came from an external source, and there are heaps of folders, and I don't want to pdf each subfolder seperately as it will take forever).
    The problem is that some of the files have the same filenames (again I'd prefer not to rename, as it happens a lot on this project, and they are all over the place).  So whilst Bridge will show the thumbnail images correctly in the content tabbed screen in my New Smart Collection, but once I've done the Output to PDF thing, for example, instead of showing both different images it has pdf only the first image but repeated it twice.  And this happens multiple times throughout the pdf, the more times the same filename is used, the more times the first image gets repeated.
    I know that it is messy to have multiple similar filenames, but why can't bridge just place the image anyway?  It allocated a space for it on the pdf and does show it in bridge, it just doesn't seem to survive the transfer to pdf well.
    The only other thing that I have done is use the below link (which was posted on another adobe forum thread) to create a custom pdf output template (nothing too fancy, just number of rows / columns, size, font etc).  But I've tried using the standard bridge templates and it does the same thing.
    http://www.proficiografik.com/2009/08/03/save-custom-pdf-output-template-in-adobe-bridge-c s4.html
    Any help would be appreciated...even if to tell me that I am being unreasonable!
    UPDATE 16/11/09
    Just to let you know that I seem to have resolved the bug inadvertently with one of the Adobe updates. The below is the link for the AdobeOutputModule-2.1-mul-AdobeUpdate.zip which was released on 2/19/2009 - which allows for headers & footers to be placed in the Ouput pdf. I finally installed it today, and everything seems to be working fine now (i.e. I can pdf multiple images with the same filenames and the pdf will actually show each different image rather than repeating only 1 of the images).
    Must have been a fix installed in the contact sheet templates that get installed with the update - not sure why the original version was corrupted, but I've left that with the Adobe guys (I submitted a bug report - and they were able to replicate the problem but hadn't fixed it as yet).

    When I click import from disc I am asked to choose a disc and then I get this message:
    The following photos will not be imported because they are already present in the catalog. To see these photos in the catalog select 'Show in Library' (the import will be canceled).
    This is followed by a long list of images. If I click 'Show in Library' I can see all the images with the same filename. And then they start to automatically write over those images with images from the disc. However they keep the same metadata and keywords from the previous images. If I click on Import and deselect the "don't reimport suspected duplicates" box, it imports only the images that don't share filenames and none of the images that do.
    Is there a way of setting the "Don't reimport suspected duplicates" box in preferences?

  • How can I add a button to add multiple image in PDF from using adobe acrobat pro?

    I have to create a pdf form using Adobe Acrobat Pro X.
    In this form I want to add a button where I can add multiple images to the field.
    I have tried using javascript event.target.buttonImportIcon(); and successfully add an image, but when I want to add the 2nd image it automatically overwrites the previous one.
    Is there any way to solve this issue? I would like to have a form where I can add a lot of images in it. It is possible in word, but we really have to use adobe.
    Thanks

    Hi thanks for your answer.
    I can add multiple button, but if there are 10 images that I wan to add, then I have to create 10 buttons.
    Moreover, the pictures will be placed on top of each other and it means that you cannot see it clearly.

  • How do you add a water mark to multiple images within multiple files?

    I am having real trouble in trying to add a water mark to multiple images (mixture of jpegs and tiffs) within multiple file.
    I have used the Batch processing tool, but this hasn't worked or has been inconvenient, asking me to resave each individual file.
    If anyone can help or suggest another way of doing this, that would be great!
    Thanks
    Becca

    Are you using Russell Brown's script for placing watermarks?  Also you mentioned, "Within multiple file."  Did you mean multiple folders?  The batch processor has a check box for applying process to multiple folders.  What itsn't working - exactly?

  • How to Watermark multiple images with different dimensions in Photoshop ?

    Is there any way that I can place a watermark on the right bottom of multiple images, no matter what dimension the images are? I have tried using Photoshop Scripts > image processor, but it works only for images of same dimension. I want to put watermark on multiple images of different dimensions. This is the output i got.
    For the first image the watermark got placed correctly, but for the second image watermark got distracted. As you can clearly see the dimensions are different. Please suggest me some solution.

    Open an image to watermark. We must have this open before we start recording an action or else it will keep opening this image and watermarking it over and over again.
    In Photoshop go to Windows >> Actions
    At the bottom of the Actions Palette you will see a little folder icon, click on it and create a new folder to hold you action in.
    Once you have a folder to hold your action we need to hit the Create New Action button (next to the new folder Icon we just used.)
    Give our new action a name and set a function key (if required.)
    If the record button is not already depressed which it should be by default, hit it now to start recording our action. (located near the folder icon again but this time to the left)
    Now that our action is recording go to File >> Place
    When the dialog box comes up navigate to your previously created watermark file.
    Hit the Place button
    Position the watermark as you would normally have it (default is dead center) and hit enter.
    Go to File >> Save as,navigate to where you want your watermarked images to finish up and hit save. DO NOT CHANGE THE FILE NAME if you do when you play the batch it will name all the files it saves the same over-writing each other.
    Close the image we just watermarked.
    when a save dialog comes up do not save the image.
    On the Actions Palette hit stop recording.
    Our Action is now recorded.
    To process an entire folder of images we go to File >> Automate >> Batch
    Select the folder in which your images are currently
    Select the folder you wish to save the watermarked copies too.
    Hit OK
    Photoshop is now watermarking all the Images in the selected folder for you.

  • Importing multiple images as inline objects

    I know Indesign allows for multiple images to be placed in a grid, but is there a way to import several images straight into a story as inline frames?

    After digging around in the scripting section of this forum, I managed to find a snippet of a script which replaces image names in the text with the actual image. Very useful stuff.
    // reset the Find/Change dialog app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null; // formulate a grep search string app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = '@.+?@'; // find all occurrence of image names between @, last one first f = app.activeDocument.findGrep (true); for (i = 0; i < f.length; i++) { // construct file name name = f[i].contents.replace (/@/g, ''); // place the pdf and REPLACE the destination with the folder of links f[i].insertionPoints[0].place ('Insert image folder here' + name)); } // delete all @??@ codes app.activeDocument.changeGrep()

  • InDesign CS3 Scripting XML Import Multiple Images into same Text Frame

    I am having trouble importing multiple images into the same Text Frame using XML import. I imported 5 images into the text frame. However, all 5 images are laying on top of one another. Does anyone know if there is a way to have all images laying out like how Microsoft Word handles inline images, i.e., laying out next image to the right of previsous image in the same line and if there is not enough space left in the line, then wrap to next line. Thanks in advance. I understand I could use JavaScript to do post import processing, e.g, calculate the image size and place each images accordingly. But I am trying to see whether there is a way to do this without scripts.

    You can apply an object style to all anchored images by script. A text frame containing main flow should be selected.
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var textFrame =  app.selection[0];
    var rectangles = textFrame.texts[0].rectangles;
    if (rectangles.length > 0) {
         for (var i=0; i < rectangles.length; i++) {
              rectangles[i].appliedObjectStyle = doc.objectStyles.item("Cover");
    However, there is a better approach:
    Step 1
    Create place holders for a single "Book" element and format it as needed -- apply an object style to the cover.
    Step 2
    Import the xml file -- the placeholders are replaced with data from the 1st xml element
    Step 3
    Drag & drop the element containing all "Books" elements into the main flow -- all elements are placed and formatted the same way as in step 1.
    Finally, add a new page, click the overset text icon and autoflow text to add pages so that to fit all the text.
    Hope this helps.

  • Multiple Image upload with save to database

    Hi everyone,
    I wonder whether anyone can help me, I have been trying to use the multiple image upload with save to database wizard. When I create the page and upload it and then view it in Safari the only thing that is on the page is an upload button. When I press the upload button I am able to browse my files and select them. When this window closes a flash loading value is shown but no images have been uploaded.
    Am I missing anything? I have had no problems uploading single files and creating albums. I want to create an online gallery so that I can do a multiple upload to a specific album if this is possible.
    Cheers
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,
    >>
    but only the filename appeared in the database and no other information was stored.
    >>
    that´s how it´s been designed also in the "single upload" -- the path_to_the_folder where the files sit in have to be determined elsewhere
    >>
    {wedimg_idalb}
    >>
    I don´t see any reference to this "dynamic data" placeholder in any of your table columns you posted -- where does this one come from ?
    >>
    1. I have multiple clients and each client has their own set of images.
    2. Each set of client images must be linked to an album via the album ID
    >>
    do you have any "foreign key" which is related to the user_table´s ID in order to make user ID 2 upload his images in album ID 2 ? How will the upload page "know" where the images are going to be uploaded to ?
    >>
    and the album page, wedding_alb

    to my mind *this* table would itself need a foreign key to the user_table in order to "map" record 2 to user ID 2 -- or do I miss something ?

  • Sir plz help me..i want to make colag..i hv edited multiple images individually..but unable to merge

    sir plz help me..i want to make colag..i hv edited multiple images individually..but unable to merge these photos into one common window in order to make colage..rply please..

    If you want to make the same type of collage using templates and scripts work very well Documentation and Examples

  • Placing an image, remembering the last image import position

    Sometimes i can have a folder with 200 images in it, i have to place these images into my picture boxes within my indesign doc one by one.
    Each time i go to place the next image, the pop "place" window defaults to the top of the list. ;(
    So what im asking, is there a script out there or a fuction which will allow the pop up "place" window to remeber the last image i imported or placed??
    This will save me having to scroll down to find my last image placed each time. this will save me loads of time on massive cataloge jobs i work on - it's really tetitious finding the last position every time.
    Just something ive been wondering for a while now.
    Any help would be great
    Ricky

    Why not select all the images you need at one time? ID allows you to select multiple images, then drop them from the loaded cursor one by one. If the next one in the cursor prview is not the one you want, press an an arrow key to cycle through. Press esc to remove an image from the cursor.
