Plan on using Windows XP for a while yet...... avoid Update KB2934207
On March 5, 2014 Microsoft released an High Priority Update titled "Windows XP End of Support Notification (KB2934207)" Basically it adds a log-on and a monthly nag screen reminder about Microsoft ending support for Windows XP in April. Since this update in bundled in with the High Priority Updates, most users will wind up having it installed without their knowledge or permission. Also there is no option to Hide the update from future downloads, but you can omit the download if you disable Automatic Updates and start manually checking for Windows XP updates and choose the Custom option for searching.
In the event you have inadvertently installed the update, it can be uninstalled or just delete the two items in Scheduled Tasks that cause it to appear at log-on and monthly

Microsoft has been trying to make sure everyone is informed. There are still a few people out there who do not want to give up XP for one reason or another.

If you're talking about music and movies an i-device was not designed for unique storage of media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing music and movies is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred from a device to a computer.

Issue in FF v 3.6.10: I have a web page which have more than 20 link, clicking on each of these link opens up a pop-up using window.showModalDialog, for the first consecutive 20 popup opens up without any prob but for the 21st n more click it block the popup and do not open. This is m problem, the real user on the web page can click on more than 20 link in such a scenario it may create problem, please help

Question to all the pros..I'm looking to purchase an iPad 4g second hand. Once the "seller" resets the iPad for me to use, do I have to get it re-activated or purchase a contract/service plan if I ONLY ever plan to use the iPad for Wifi Only???
No you don't need a service plan to use wifi. Take special precautions to make sure the seller is the owner. Be sure all their information has been removed properly. If it were me I wouldn't give the person the money until the iPad is registered in my name. I've read too many horror stories of people buying iPads they'll never be able to use because someone else's ID was still on it.

I am having strange issue with my apple tv...i set up pictures to scroll through to the tv using home sharing. Now album covers are interspersed with my pictures. I have been using apple tv for a while and never had this happen before
Are you watching this content though iCloud or though from iTunes on your local computer? If it is from iCloud have you tried downloading the content to iTunes and watching it on ATV from that source to see if it still happens? This is geerally a much more reliable way to view the content. Easer to fast forward and rewind too.

Have you checked your wireless rounter? Tried doing the factory restor on it? Upgrading it's firmware? Is it and or ATV getting extreamly hot when this problme happens? -
Can anyone tell me how to scan documents to the icloud, so they will be on the ipad? My husband is planning on using his ipad for business. I haven't been able to even find anywhere that I could read about scanning documents.
If you scanned the documents - what format did you save them in - pdf? If so, Pages will not open pdf files. you can save a file and export it as a pdf from Pages - but not the other way around.
If you need simply view the documents - you can send them to the iPad via email or DropBox and them open and save them in iBooks. or Adobe Reader. both apps are free. Adobe Reader can use file sharing in iTunes to transfer the files.
If you need to annotate the files - you will need an app like Goodreader - which can use file sharing from iTunes in order to transfer the files as well. GoodReader may work with iCloud now, but you will have to check that out in the App Store.
You can read this to see how to use file sharing. It really is pretty easy to use. You do need to do this with your computer.

the Wifi storage options are interesting but it seems they only allow to read files from the device on the iPad but not transfer files to the storage device via WiFi.
I'm looking for a possibility to use the iPad for photography while traveling, without the access to a computer.
Shooting photo's in RAW format crates pretty big files that will fill up the iPad's memory pretty fast if you shoot a lot during a (let's say) month long trip.
my idea was to use load the photo's to the iPad so i could view them and sort out any bad ones. then copy them over to the storage device so i can continue using my CF cards for shooting. I have an image thank for copying the photo's directly to the HDD but it would be so sweet to be able to check them on the iPad before hand.
any suggestions?Check out pogo plug device, it allows you to upload camera roll via wifi.

How many ghz should I get if I plan on using my IPad2 for internet access, email, facebook and games for my daughters children?
Ghz is the CPU speed and that is fixed for each iPad model.
The GB is the number of Gigabytes of storage.
I had a 32G iPad1 and filled it up with 5000 songs, 20,000 photos and about 50 apps. It doesn't sound like you will need anything larger than that. If you are just talking about a few dozen apps and email, the 16G version should be adequate. -
Is there a way I can delete my primary @me email address so that I can receive emails only via my "reserved" @icloud address. eg. delete "msjones@me" and receive emails via "msjones@icloud" only.The reason being, I receive a fair bit of spam to my @me address. Going forward I plan on using an alias for certain websites to minimise this problem.
You can't delete the address, but you can set up a Rule to move messages to that address to the Trash or another folder. Go to http://icloud.com and go to the Mail page, click the cogwheel icon at top right and choose 'Rules'.
It's a bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - even though in fact you haven't posted them in full; I've asked the hosts to remove them. -

When you try to install RDS role on server 2012 R2 using standard deployment, this issue may occur (Figure 1).

First of all, we need to verify the configurations as it suggested:
1. The server must be available by using Windows PowerShell remotely.
2. The server must be joined to a domain.
3. The server must be running at least Windows Server 2012 R2.
4. The currently logged on user must be a member of the local Administrators group on the server.
5. Remote Desktop Services connections must be enabled by using Group Policy.
In addition, we need to check if the “Windows Remote Management “service is running and related firewall exceptions have been created for WinRM listener.
To enabling PowerShell remoting, we can run this PowerShell command as administrator (Figure 2).

However, if issue persists, we need to check whether it has enough memory to work.
By default, remote shell allots only 150 MB of memory. If we have IIS or SharePoint App pool, 150 MB of memory is not sufficient to perform the remoting task. Therefore, we need to increase
the memory via the PowerShell command below:
Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Shell\MaxMemoryPerShellMB 1000
Then, you need to restart the server and the issue should be resolved.

I tried to set up powershell remoting on a server and kept getting this error:

After a bit of troubleshooting I discovered that the problem was that the authentication packets was to big (over 16k), this will cause WinRM to reject the request. The reason for authentication packets getting too big can be because the user is member of very
many security groups or in my case because of the SidHistory attribute.
The solution was to increase the MaxFieldLength and MaxRequestBytes keys in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\HTTP\Parameters
If the keys does not exists you can create them, be sure to use the DWORD type.
I sat MaxFieldLength to DEC value 40000 and MaxRequestBytes to DEC value 32768 and rebooted the server. Problem solved. -

You need to format a external drive using Apple's Disk Utility
Partition 1
Option: GUID
Format: OS X Extended Journaled.
Before OS X can be installed or cloned onto the drive, or else it can't be booted from.
Formatting a drive erases all data on it, so backup up any data you want to retain off the drive.
I really do not advise SuperDuper for the fact that it doesn't copy the RecoveryHD partition and restore it, as this is needed to reinstall a fresh copy of OS X from Apple's servers.

You should use flip4mac it has replaced the windows media player for mac. I would also suggest Perian as it adds to QTimes abilities.
