Planets, cartoons overlaying pictures in screensaver?

On a MacMini running Tiger 10.4.4, I have the standard Apple screensaver set to display photos from my Pictures Folder. Those pictures display fine most of the time, but sporadically I get another pixilated cartoonish image -- the planet Jupiter, Elmo, and other odd images that look sort of like icons blown up to almost full-screen size, with blurry or overly large pixel blocks -- overlaid on my photo.
I've checked my preferences and options and can find nothing that gives a clue as to what is happening. The photo files themselves are fine. (In fact, I'm using copies of the identical files on a second MacMini running 10.3.9 and they display fine with no overlaid images, or at least I haven't spotted any yet.)
Out of a 100 different images, this overlay occurs maybe once or twice. I'm not sure yet whether they happen on the same pictures each time, or whether they pop up randomly. (There are hundreds of pictures in my Pictures Folder.)
I did a search in another forum and found someone complaining of the same behavior in their screensaver...from 2003, so this may not be Tiger specific.
Does anyone know what is happening here? Or have any clues as to where to look for a solution?

They are the icons stored in your iChat icons
folder. It's located in the Pictures folder so
once you enabled the Screensaver to display your
pictures it started displaying every image file
contained therein. Move the iChat icons
folder out of the Pictures folder.
Thanks. I actually figured that out last night. Since I don't use iChat, moving the folder won't matter to me, but would it matter if I DID use iChat? Can iChat still use those icons if they are located elsewhere?

  • How can I use my pictures as screensaver on Apple TV (3 gen)?

I want to use my pictures as screensaver without using cloud ?

you can use Home Sharing in iTunes.
iTunes > File > Home Sharing
    Switch it on and
Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV.
Your Apple TV will pickup the folders when you go to the Screen Saver settings
They also "cache" so screen saver works if your computer is off.
Let me know if you need more details.

  • Where are the pictures of screensaver "National Geographic"

I like the pictures of screensaver "National Geographic", I want to use one of them as my desktop background. But when I go to System/Library/Screensaver, I don't see a folder named "National Geographic". And I searched all the pictures in the Screensaver folder, I didn't found any pictures which are displayed in sreensave mode. Can anybody know where are those pictures saved?

  • Rotated/sideways iPhoto pictures on screensaver

My wife's Macbook plays her screensaver from the iPhoto Library randomly. It plays well and starts and stops just right but many of the photos are rotated when they play in screensaver mode. They are not rotated in iPhoto. Is there a fix for this?
    Thanks

If you turned the camera to get a vertical picture that is the way they are stored. You have to go in rotate them 90 degrees and then re-save them to correct this.

  • Pictures in screensaver for OSX 10.8

    hi all,
I have multiple sub folders in the pictures folder which I use to store all the family pictures.
In 10.7 I had the top level folder added as a source for all the pictures in the screensaver.
However in 10.8 this now says no pictures, and only when I select one of the sub folders that contains the actual .jpg images can i get any to appear.
    any suggestions ?

  • HT2478 Too many pictures in screensaver folder - can't change it - help?

I loaded too many pictures inside a folder for screensaver and now I can't seem to select another folder.  It stops responding when I try to change.  Help?

Ok.  Maybe we are not being clear.
    a) the home (user library) optionkey>finder>go>library>screen savers is empty.
Apparently you do not have any custom savesavers.
    b) the HD>library>screensaver folder is empty (same as above?)
Not the same.  HD is system (what the system uses to run your comp or system files you have transferred from another computer).
Home (user Library) are files that you personally use.
As for the screensaver folder being empty, that's ok.
    c) the HD>system>library>screensaver folder has lots of saver files in it (althought they all look to correspond with savers that are not slideshows, e.g., Flurry)
I've never moved any of these files and can't think how I would have ever done this accidentally.  Maybe this is too technical.
You seem to be ok as far as your screensaver mappings.
Can you give me a file to search for - maybe I can locate e.g., the Ken Burns photo slideshow screen saver.
Ken Burns slideshow is part of iPhoto.  However, to actually find it takes a lot of legwork.
    Machintosh HD>System>Library>PrivateFrameworks>Slideshows.framework>Versions>A>Resources>C ontent
    >Styles>KenBurnes.mrbStyle.  Click on the folder>Contents>Resources>Preview.mov is the Ken Burns photo slideshow!

  • IPhoto Pictures and Screensaver

    Hi,
I have my Leopard screen server pointing at my Pictures folder. All my pics are in iPhoto.
However, in iPhoto the pics are hidden in a package and it also creates a thumbnail for each picture.
So, you can only point the screen saver at the Pictures directory which includes the thumbnails. It frequently picks thumbnails or original photos (before red eye fixes) and displays them full screen - which is irritating. Has anyone figured out how to point the screen saver at the main pictures directory. Of is there another way of doing it?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
In the left hand pane of your ScreenSaver panel there's a listing for 'iPhoto Albums", this will use the albums and events for the Screensaver, and so avoid the thumbs.

  • Blurry Pictures on Screensaver

I'm using an Apple iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo on which I have the screensaver set to use the Pictures folder containing several thousand photos in a hierarchy of folders. All options are checked except "Crop slides to fit on screen". However, some of the pics are being displaed as blurry even though I know those pics are very much in focus in Preview. So the $64,000 question is: Why is this happening and how do I fix it, if I can? TIA
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Hi dvongrad: Is it possible that the photos the screensaver is accessing are contained in the iPhoto Data folder? If so they are just thumbnail sized and will look quite bad at full screen resoulution. The full sized photos are in the iPhoto Originals folder.

  • How do i delete pictures in screensaver?

i was wondering how to get rid of another user's pictures in scrensaver!

    Hi Darwin,
If you mean the listing in Sys Prefs>Desktop & ScreenSavers listing...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup),  use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, move these files to the Desktop if they exist. Will require resetting some options.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.<12digitHex Number>.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.slideshow.< 12digitHexNumber>.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktopscreensaver.rsspictures .plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect .plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    Then reboot once more.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • Artifacts and cartoon like picture on quicktime 7.3 with 10.4.11

10.4.11 brought some odd quirks (usb mikes don't wor etc...) but now I can see quicktime movies ( they look animated - using the trailers section for instance- I can see movies in itunes preview fine and inline previews but all quicktime player playback is - odd- ( looks like someone added-- I took a screen capture) not sure if this is just another 10.4.11 problem ( applecare suggested I downgrade to fix the usb issue- so I gather there are some quirks)

Many, many thanks! Given that information I searched farther and found my version 7 registration code on an old backup disk, and happily that did the trick. Problem solved.

  • Why are screensaver pictures so large

When I select picture for screensaver for some reason they get inlarged.

You would have to use code in userChrome.css instead to keep the tabs at their width if you uninstall the extension.
Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

  • Error in iPhoto pictures overlayed on video

I have found a number of error which I'm surprised no one else has posted.
Refer to the attached picture: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b322/chaosboi/imovie.jpg
The first picture I have overlayed (top left of screen IMG_1129) is displaying an incorrect picture in the preview window.
The second picture isn't playing in the preview window and the third is also displaying an incorrect picture.
I have tried to create new projects using different pictures and videos, and sometime I can only add two picture overlays and sometime more. It's working very randomly.
Can anyone try to replicate what I'm experiencing?

After installing an iPhoto update the correct pictures are now displaying in iMovie, but iMovie will still not show all of my overlays I have added.
It always allows a different amount of overlays before it will not display anymore
Has anyone came accros the same issue, or has anyone been succesfull in overlaying pictures over video?
    Thanks.

  • Picture in Picture Overlay - Edges of image cut off - iMovie 09

If I use PIP and don't fill the whole screen with the picture why does my overlayed picture have to have the same aspect ratio as the video?  Is there a way to display the whole picture no matter what the aspect ratio?
    Thanks,

    Hi RuthEllen63,
The video tutorial below shows you how to create the Picture-in-Picture effect in iMovie '09:
You should be able to add a picture or video regardless of it's aspect ratio and adjust as needed.

  • Lion ScreenSaver re-active hang during read my iPhoto pictures

    Hi,
My Lion cannot display password logon during screensaver is reading my iPhoto pictures.
Because I setup my screensaver to random display my iPhoto pictures.
I have an external monitor with my MacBook. Both of my monitors will display iPhoto pictures with screensaver.
Screen hang if i'd like to re-active from screensaver to normal operation mode.
That will be fine if screensaver reads iPhoto pictures and start to display them.
Hang status happen during screensaver still reading iPhoto pictures for 2~3 seconds and before display them.
Please check what's happen with this kind of issue for current Lion OS X 10.7.3
    Many thanks

    Hi Mike,
I just saw this post and saw no one has responded.  You might have figured out but in case, I wanted to let you know what I found out.  I had the same problem.  Hard drive failure, they installed a new one and my iPhoto pictures were missing.  I couldn't find them on Time Machine either which baffled (and frustrated) me b/c I just backed up my drive and I was missing pictures from over a year ago.
I found this article and it allowed me to at least find my pictures...so they weren't lost after all.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16029742#16029742
As for why they aren't showing up in iPhoto or Time Machine, the lady at the Mac store said it is probably an OS conflict.  Which makes sense since I can see the actual pictures in the iPhoto content file (per the article mentioned above).  However, I didn't have my computer with me at the store to have a Genius person help me resolve the conflict.
BUT, if you can find the pictures, then maybe you can reimport them into iPhoto?  Just a thought.
    Good luck!

  • Screensaver with my own pictures

In older systems, SL and Lion, when I chose another folder to view pictures, the screensaver would see all the pictures in any sub folders of that folder.
Now in ML it shows only the pictures in whatever folder I choose, but not in any sub folders.
Has anyone noticed this as well?

Yes, it's happening here, too.  Very annoying.
