Planned downtime

hi,
is there any way to manage the fixed recurring planned down time in APO???
we can manage it in APO-Resource, other than this, how can we manage it.
secondly, is there any way to maintain source of supply every month???
source of supply, means replenish from one plant to another plant. so receiving plant can change source of supply every month? is it possible in APO or ECC!!
Thanks,
Regards,
Jignesh.

Hey Jignesh,
as an answer to the first part of your question:
you can model it either by
  - defining capacity variants (tab. general data)
  - using copy and paste downtimes (ugly)
  - creating maintenance plans (which is I assume exactly what you are looking for)
But watch out.... orders react differently to different types of downtimes.
If an order reaches a planned downtime created by option 2 or 3 it's automatically rescheduled at the end of the downtime, whereas with capacity variants the order keeps going on!
Hope this helps a bit... Bobby

  • A place to maintain planned downtime

Hi all, are there any SAP standard functionality to maintain planned downtime? In Solution Manager? Another central place in the SAP landscape?
Users should be able to see when the system will be unavailable, and get warnings or messages before the system is down. Do I have to create a table and abap programs/function modules for this?
I need a place for external and internal partners to look up and check when the system will be down.

    Hi Rune,
This is a standard BASIS activity. Contact your BASIS team to do it T. Code SM02.

  • Duration of a shift and planned downtime

    Hi All,
I checked the current postings, but couldn't find anything related to what I am looking for, while one or two related to time intervals and schedules was almost close...
I am a project manager working on an xMII implementation that currently is not running ERP.
The factory has a regular 8 hour shift schedule, a 6 hr weekend shift schedule, a 8 hr weekend shift schedule, a 6 hour holiday shift shift, and a 8 hr holiday shift.  For the 6 hr shifts the planned downtime is 40 min.  For the 8 hr holiday and weekend shifts the planned downtime is 65 min and the reg 8 hr shift has 75 min of planned downtime.
My understanding is that xMII first looks at the schedule and then the interval.
Does anyone have any idea around how the intervals could be set-up, linked to a schedule so that the code can see that the shift is 8 hrs in duration but because it is a holiday schedule 65 min of planned downtime should be subtracted instead of the usual 75 min?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts...
    Susan

    Hi Susan,
Your understanding that 'xMII first looks at the schedule and then the interval' is accurate, but the standard time engine capabilities for Time Periods and Schedules doesn't really address your particular needs.
It is a little unclear where and how you want to apply the 75 or 65 minutes of downtime subtraction, but if you default this to 75 and then only adjust it to 65 when you are in a 'holiday' schedule you could probably accomplish your desired outcome.
A database table that contains the holiday start and end datetime shift ranges could be queried in relation to the current time for the notion of in/out of holiday mode.  So if you default it to 75 and then if the query indicates a 'holiday mode' change it to 65 for the necessary subtraction.

  • SAP In-Memory Developer Center - planned downtime 2011-11-15, 10-11am PST

    Dear HANA DevCenter users,
I want to inform you about a maintenance downtime scheduled for Tuesday, Nov 15, 10am to approximately 11am PST (19:00 - 20:00 CET).
We will upgrade the HANA Sandbox systems to version 1.00.20.355749, the SPS3 ramp-up release. This will fix the problems with non-visible tables/attributes in views some users have reported, as well as introduce new features (details to be published).
Along with the server update, we will also release a new cloudshare.com image with the updated client drivers and HANA studio. When you logon to your cloudshare environment after the update, you will be offered to "revert" to the new snapshot. This will overwrite all changes you made to your current image, so make a conscious decision...
If you want to upgrade your HANA studio yourself, you can do this already now by following these steps:
    - From the main menu in HANA Studio, choose Help -> Install New Software
    - Click the Addu2026 button in the top right corner
    - Assign any name for the new update repository and file:////hanasvr-01/hdbstudio_update as location (you should see a list of entries now)
    - Click the link What is already installed? in the bottom right corner
    - Select u201CSAP HANA Studiou201D and click the Updateu2026 button
As always, please let us know about any problems on this forum or via email to inmemorydevcenter AT sap.com

    Hi DevCenter users,
The Systems are back and upgraded to SPS3. We have released a new cloudshare image - when you logon to cloudshare, you will be prompted to "revert to current snapshot" by a red page header. Please revert to the latest snapshot if you want to use the new Studio and Client, but be aware that reverting to a new snapshot will invalidate all local changes you have applied to your desktop. This includes installations of frontend tools, files you saved to the cloudshare desktop and your system connections in HANA. So please backup your data before reverting and have your HANA credentials handy
    Here's the new features:
    - HANA DB, Studio and Client drivers upgraded to 1.00.20.355749 (SPS3)
    - Installed SBOP Analysis MS Office (aka AAO) 1.2
    - We've added an FTP server to our environment to make it easier and faster for you to upload data to the server. Upload your CSV/CTL files to ftp.sapdevcenter.com - please create a subdirectory for your username to avoid name clashes. Once data is uploaded to the ftp server, you can LOAD FROM '/dropbox/<your subdirectory>/<your file>'

  • Best practice for RAC planned downtime maintenance?

I have a 3 node RAC on Linux redhat. DB version is 11gr2.
I want to know the steps to perform each node OS patch upgrade.
I want to be sure I did right steps:
1). Node 1, stop crs and do the OS patch upgrade.
    2). same steps for Node 2, 3.
    Is this right?
    Thank you for any help.

If your RAC environment is configured properly follow this step:
    Node 1:
    * Relocate services to node 2 or 3 and stop database instance and service using SRVCTL
    * Stop Clusterware using CRSCTL
    * Disable automatic Startup of Clusterware on this node using CRSCTL
    * Patch your OS
    * Relink Oracle Binaries (Grid Infrastructure/Oracle Database) (P.S You will need unlock and re-lock your Grid Home to relink binaries see note RAC: Frequently Asked Questions [ID 220970.1])
If you are using ACFS you must check if that OS Upgrade will affect ACFS drivers (ACFS Supported On OS Platforms. [ID 1369107.1])
    * Enable Automatic Startup of Clusterware on this node using CRSCTL
    * Start Clusterware using CRSCTL
    * Start Database and Services with SRVCTL
Repeat steps above on Node 2 and 3
Of course don't forget a good plan to backup and recovery to support case of failure.

Is It Necessary To Relink Oracle Following OS Upgrade? [ID 444595.1]
My concern is here, let's say each node has to be restarted.
So my procedure should be on 1st node: crsctl stop crs to stop everything and failover everything to other nodes.
I wonder crsctl stop crs will cause ASM instance to be down?Yes "CRSCTL STOP CRS" will try stop all clusterware resource with clean state. If any problem occurs will be raised on your prompt.

    Hi all,
next saturday, 19th january 2008, SDN will be down for maintenance starting at 9:00 CET, estimated duration: 2-4 hours.
We will change the central fileserver and need to shutdown all SDN scenarios. Reason for the change is to stabilize the most critical component of the SDN landscape, which was responsible for some outages you might have noticed in the near past.
    sorry for any inconvenience,

  • Downtime Management - planned outage entry for a past date?

Using downtime management with success, however I forgot to enter a 'planned downtime' for some ad-hoc maintenance work a couple of weeks back. I now have a large outage spike appearing in my system availability reports (CCMSBISUITE) when I know it was a bit of planned outage work so should really be discounted. I have recurring a downtime window for our standard outage day, but this planned work happened outside of that window.
Is it somehow possible to create a 'planned downtime' event for a past date, which will 'smooth' out the outage spike appearing in the BI reports? I'm getting 'invalid date' entries when trying to do so with Downtime Manager, but though someone might know how to do this if it's possible.
    Thanks
    Daniel

I think you are out of luck on this one.  However it would not be too hard to develop your own report for creating a retroactive downtime.  We have done some analysis of the code for making our own enhancements to DTM and you will find CL_DSWP_DTM_MANAGER to be a good starting point if you have an ABAPer.
But I wouldn't invest too much in any custom solution, as DTM will be completely replaced in SolMan 7.1 (see note 1517275 and the help at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm71_sp01/helpdata/en/bf/5a62721652477592bf3441cc5ab6ec/frameset.htm); the new feature seems like it will be much more general (an overall IT Calendar) but will actually remove some features in a step backwards (for example you will have to find somewhere else to document system crashes and other unplanned outages...).  If we get into the ramp-up I will report back to this thread on the specifics of retroactive downtime documentation in SolMan 7.1 if I find anything interesting.

  • Availability "SLA" report - wrong "Planned Maintance" for some servers

Just wondering if anybody knows of any bugs or perhaps what I am doing “wrong” here when I have created an availability “SLA” report
The report is the generic, availability and tagets a large group (1000) of SCOM health service watchers . Under downtime I am checking the options for “Planned Maintenance” and “Unplanned Maitenance”. When I run the report most seem correct – I spot
servers I know have been down and small amount of planned downtime for patching. However I
have bunch of servers (mabe 20) that all show pretty much 100% planned maintenance and all with the same odd uptime of say 4 hours exactly. I cant find anything common with these servers. I even removed the SCOM agent from one server, left
a litte while and re-installed and this still shows up in this fashion. Any ideas?
    I am running SCOM2012 SP1 CU4
    Many thanks

    Hi,
It seems like that there are cache data for the agent, what is the result when we use report tasks under monitoring console for that specific server?
If the issue still there, then I would like to suggest you refer to the below blog, and follow the article to re-install the agent:

  • Ways to reduce downtime for filling up setup table

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone tell me the step by step process so that i can reduce downtime for filling up setup tables?
I know that setup tables can be filled by considering sales document numbers....but the further steps are not clear with me...........specially with data loadin till PSA and then to ODS/Cube
So plz throw some light on this.......
    Regards,
    Vaishnavi.

    Hi,
You will need to fill the set up tables in 'no postings period'. In other words when no trasnactions are posted for that area in R/3 otherwise those records will not come to BW. Discuss this with end user and decide. Weekends are a general choice for this activity.
You can run them after business hours so that there wont be any transactions, or in the night times or you can do it on week ends so that there is no need to take down time.
Fill the setup tables with already closed values and then fill up again with open values. This will reduce the down time.
Initialize  closed periods first in which users wont enter data ( for example in 2007 or 2006), this initializations can be done while users are working. Then the initialize last period at night/weekends.holidays etc.
If you know documents that are in closed periods, and you are sure that these documents can no longer be changed, you can only fill the SetUp tables for these documents or only for these periods, by continuing to post in open periods. You then initialize only for these intervals, delete the setup table, and only then do you fill the setup table with the rest of the documents  this procedure can drastically reduce the downtimes of your system.
However, there is a risk that user exits (and in LIS, formulas and conditions) can be used to retrieve documents that are in periods that are already "closed periods".
One more thing what you need to bear in mind is, to check if there are any Scheduled jobs which are updating the transaction tables, which would definitely cause Data Reconciliation Issues.
    Try Early Delta Initialization
With early delta initialization, you have the option of writing the data into the delta queue or into the delta tables for the application during the initialization request in the source system. This means that you are able to execute the initialization of the delta process (the init request), without having to stop the posting of data in the source system. The option of executing an early delta initialization is only available if the DataSource extractor called in the source system with this data request supports this.
Extractors that support early delta initialization are delivered with Plug-Ins as of Plug-In (-A) 2002.1.
You cannot run an initialization simulation together with an early delta initialization.
Hope this link may make you clear about Early Delta Initialization

  • Downtime Management

    Hi all,
we want to use downtime management in our solution manage and want to disable ccms alerts
    on weekend for all systems.
I definied for on system the donwtime management and want to distribute/copy these settings to others
sap systems in our solution manager, but the botton " copy planned donwtimes" is grey and disabled.
I already found sap note 1129052, ut the "copy" button is grey ...and could not be activated.
    Any ideas ?
    Kind regards
    Andreas Laaser

    Dear Andreas,
I think you should review SAP Note 1129052 again.
Please look closely at the section
      Mass Copy of Planned Downtimes:
"specified Destinations. It is not possible to select one/few
Downtimes and copy only these entries"
You cannot copy downtimes for one system only as you say you are doing.
You have to copy all downtimes....perhaps that you have not selected everything is why it is greyed out?

  • Automation of idoc collect  during customer planned system outage

    Hi All,
In our landscape we are dealing with customer through IDOCs , now  we have preplanned system outage of customers  and  every customer has its own planned downtime . Now we want to collect the idoc for the customer
during their downtime and trigger after the downtime . Can we automate this process to collect the idoc during the specific time and then the release .
Has anyone tried to change the partner profile (automated) during specific time to put  idoc in collect mode and then trigger immediatly as most of the planned downtime is in night an no one around for changing this ?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

  • Adding category in types of Downtime in  Resources in APO.any setting?

Adding category in types of Downtime in  Resources in APO.
Three categories exist under downtime tab in resources like planned downtime, resource inactive and pm order.Iwant to add one more category based on some other functionality.
Is there any SPRO or other configuration setting through which I can do this?

    Hi,
I dont think there is any setting in SPRO to add the custom type of downtime in resources.I checked the technical details of this field and found that these 3 types are defined in the Domain /SAPAPO/CRES_DOWNTIME_TYPE of Data Element /SAPAPO/CRES_DOWNTIME_TYPE So I think we can not add or change the types in it.

  • Zero downtime deployment

Hi, was just wondering about "best practice" in terms of supporting zero-downtime deployment.
We have a cluster with N nodes that are not storage nodes, and M nodes that are storage nodes. We use java all around, and pof-serialize the objects that we store in coherence.
We want to deploy a new codebase, which requires a restart of all the processes, and it might also include changes to the objects that are being stored (ie, their serialization might be different).
The typical approach is to do a "rolling restart" of the various processes, but i fear all that synch-up coherence does might not work right with some members running an older version of code, while the ones that are restarted are running a newer version of the code.
Anybody have any experience with this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If you change the serialisation format then a rolling restart will not work. You need to make sure that all your POF classes are evolvable - that is that they implement EvolvablePortableObject. Doing this can take a lot of effort. We do it, not for rolling restart, but to make sure clients of our system do not constantly need to upgrade their client libraries. It can be quite complicated as it is not just serialisation that you need to be aware of but even changing how methods work that get called on the server side can break evolvability, for example changing how a filter works, an aggregator works, a method return type etc.
We have looked at zero downtime rolling restarts in the past and decided they were more trouble than they were worth. In our case we have large clusters 300+ nodes so a rolling restart would take a very long time as you need to wait for the cluster to re-balance the partitions each time you stop then restart the node. We found it could take quite a few hours to do a rolling restart whereas a full deployment and reload of the data take about 90 minutes.
You would also need to be careful if your cluster sits on top of a database. If you need to make any DB changes then this will not work unless they can some how be evolvable too otherwise either the new code or old code will be incompatible with the start of the DB.
Other people may have different experiences of zero-downtime, but as I said, we just found it too much effort and just go for the normal small-amount-of-planned-downtime approach.
