Planned support for Sony A700

Anyone able to comment on this?

Just got an A700 and can confirm that the RAW and compressed RAW formats do not work in Aperture 1.5.4-2G16. They display as grey thumbnails and show the message 'Unsupported Image Format' on a maroon background in the large view. The 'Extra Fine JPEG' (9MB) and lower formats work fine. Will have to shoot with that format until RAW is supported.

  • Is there any planned support for the "do not back up" extended attribute for iOS

Starting in iOS 5.0.1, Apple has introduced a new "do not back up" extended file attribute that will allow an app to store downloaded data into the application folder.  Is there any planned support for setting this attribute within an AIR application or is there currently a way to set this attribute using the existing AIR SDK.

Yes, this is exactly what I'm wondering too. Without it, we can't build any apps that download content without the risk of the content being deleted.
Here's the background before Apple introduced the new "do not back up" attribute:
    http://www.marco.org/2011/10/13/ios5-caches-cleaning
Fortunately, Apple addressed it after that blog post in 5.0.1. See bullet #4 here, quoted below
    https://developer.apple.com/icloud/documentation/data-storage/
Q:  My app has a number of files that need to be stored on the device permanently for my app to function properly offline. However, those files do not contain user data and don't need to be backed up. How should I store those files in iOS 5?
A: Starting in iOS 5.0.1 a new "do not back up" file attribute has been introduced allowing developers to clearly specify which files should be backed up, which files are local caches only and subject to purge, and which files should not be backed up but should also not be purged. In addition, setting this attribute on a folder will prevent the folder and all of its contents from being backed up.
Important: The new "do not back up" attribute will only be used by iOS 5.0.1 or later. On iOS 5.0 and earlier, applications will need to store their data in <Application_Home>/Library/Caches to avoid having it backed up. Since this attribute is ignored on older systems, you will need to insure your app complies with the iOS Data Storage Guidelines on all versions of iOS that your application supports.
Now we just need Adobe to support the attribute in the AIR SDK. What do you say Adobe?

  • Tether support for sony A550

    Hi,
I do not seem to find any tethering support for Sony A550. Does anyone know about this?
    Thanks in advance!

No Sony tethering - Sony doesn't provide an SDK.
    Hi Keith,
You can find a limited SDK at Cameras | Sony Developer World
The article that I posted the link to above describes how to use a "Watched Folder"

  • Poor support for Sony lenses

Looking through the list of 'official' adobe lens profiles,  I see support for literally hundreds of lenses.   However there are only 4 supported Sony lenses - even Pentax has about 50 lenses listed.
So where do these profiles come from?  I read somewhere that sigma provided all the profiles for their lenses and looking at the long long Canon and Nikon lists, I can't imagine Adobe went and bought/rented a warehouse of premium lenses purely to profile them.  I imagine then that there is some kind of manufacturer input to the Official lens profiles.
But who drives this?  Does Adobe approach the manufacturer or is it the other way round?
I would love to see a more complete list of Sony lenses (in particular, the 16-50/2.8 and marvellous 35/1.8) and don't have the confidence/time to create profiles myself.
Is there a plan in Adobe to profile some more Sony lenses?  Is it based on market share/demand?
    Cheers

True by all account! Canon and Nikon are not doing what is the best interest to their own customers (Ok, this is my own statement ). A number of other lens manufacturers have indeed followed SIGMA's example and provided Adobe with lens profiles. The list is growing. The user community has also help created close to 1000 lens profiles. Thank you all!

  • Please fix Lightroom for Sony A700

The splotchy color noise of the Sony A700 processed in Lightroom (or ACR) needs to be fixed. It has come to the point where nearly any A700 user that participates on a photo forum knows that Lightroom is not a good Raw converter for the A700 at ISO 1600 or higher. Maybe I'm overstating? Is there anyone here that doesn't agree with this sentiment?

    I don't own A700, but I discovered this: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1037&message=26834090
    Which points to this:

I have no real idea do those threads offer any real information but quick browsing succested that they might contain some. Sorry I don't check them properly but I have a flu (and a fever) and I'm very tired.

  • RAW Support for Sony

Any idea when RAW support for the Sony Alpha 330a will be added to Aperture 3? I would have thought that most all late model SONY's use the same RAW specs, but I cannot import my RAW pictures at this point. Thanks

    Sonyman,
only Apple knows the answer to your question.
If I had to guess, I would say it is likely that the V3 will not be supported. That camera was announced in August 2004; chances are that Apple will add support for RAW format of new cameras before they worry about old ones.
Then again, that is only my guess.

  • Camera profiles for Sony A700

    Hi,
I'm working in CS4 (Mac) and I downloaded the latest camera raw 5.6. I have only the Adobe standard, ACR 4.4 and ACR 3.5 in the Camera Calibration -Camera Profile.
I don't see special camera profiles for my Sony A700. In tutorials they showed profiles for Canon or Nikon. How can I get the profiles for the A700? Do they exist?
    Thanks a lot
    Claudine

    Hi Claudine,
At the moment these are the only profiles made by Adobe for the A700. You can build your own profiles (or edit existing profiles) using the free DNG Profile Editor, if you wish. Another solution for a custom profile is the ColorChecker Passport, from X-Rite.

  • Ni-imaq for 1394 camera support for sony dv cameras

    Hello,
I am wondering if there is any way to capture images from my sony mini dv recorder (DCR-PC101 NTSC) to Labview.  Is it possible through ni-imaq for 1394?
    Thank You.

    Hi charliec,
Support for mini dv cameras is not currently available with the IMAQ 1394 driver.  The only way to access the files captured by the camera are to download them to disk then open them with LabVIEW (or some other programming environment).

  • Support for Sony DCR-HC1000

I would like to know if any of you have downloaded movies from Sony DCR-HC1000's tape to iMovie? When i connected the camera with Firewire i see a icon DVin on the camera screen but nothing happens on the iMovie. All it says is cannot find a camcorder.
Can any of you please help?

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I had gone thru the instructions but still cannot get my cam connected to my iMac.
The reason i posted this query is to find out if there are any one in this world who has managed to get the video downloaded from Sony DCR-HC1000. If so then the problem is only the communication between the two and has nothing to do with iMovie support for HC1000.
So please let me know if any of you have done this.
    Thanks

  • Digital Editions for Mac Support for Sony eReaders

With Sony releasing the eBook Library 3.0 Software for Mac and PC today and, therein, providing an official Sony eReader driver for Mac (sony_prs kernel extension found in the 3.0 software installer), will Adobe be able to provide support for the Sony eReaders in a future version of Adobe Digital Editions for Mac? As far as I understood, the limitation on the Mac version stemmed from the fact that Sony itself did not officially support the Mac but with that now in the past when can we expect to see this support added in Adobe Digital Editions for Mac?  Thank you!

Believe what you read on the site.

  • Update does not include RAW support for Sony DSC-R1

Looks like there is no support for the DSC-R1 in the 10.4.7 update - that's a shame, I was hoping that it might be included

To make the R1 work with aperture, one must convert the R1 RAW file to a DNG first.
To make the new DNG work, you must lie to the computer.
After all it is only a machine. Garbage in garbage out.
So go to the following file:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ ImageIO.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Raw.plist
Save a copy of original file
    Open the "plist" in TextEditor
    Find the Sony DSC-V3
    Delete V3 and type R1
    Save file
    Reboot Mac
Convert an R1 RAW file to DNG
    Test
Use Preview to open new DNG file.
    Did it open?
Then aperture will open this file.

  • Please provide support for Sony DSC-R1 RAW files

    Dear Apple employee,
If by any chance you happen to read this topic, would you please forward this information to the Aperture team?
Some users need support for DSC-R1 Raw files in Aperture. Please do something.
    Thank you.

I can't believe that Apple can't take the time to support the DSC-R1...when I saw the new OS and 1.5 release I had high hopes, which gave way to dismay.
How can they support a so-so cam like the A100 and ignore the R1? I have Bibble Pro...they have no problem supporting the R1 and many other cams that Apple's radar can't seem to pick up.
This is really driving me nuts...Apple, how about listening to the rest of us?
Anyone for approaching Apple and/or the Aperture developers as a group?

  • Device support for Sony PRS-T1 in 1.8.2?

I installed ADE Preview 1.8.2 (Mac) and it does see my Nook, but not my Sony PRS-T1. Is there some workaround (such as: use Windows, uninstall Reader app, etc.)?
This model is listed on the 'supported devices' page.

    Hi Tom Semple,
If you activate your two devices with same account (i.e. Adobe ID), you may transfer your purchased book freely (if permission allows). There is a known issue that ADE still cannot access it with Reader software for Mac installed (Reader for PC works). But you still can try to copy books manually.
    Good luck!

  • Planned support for JAX-WS web services?

Are there any plans for JDeveloper to support JAX-WS web services in the near future (https://jax-ws.dev.java.net/)
I know that I can just import the libraries and develop code from scratch, but it would be nice if I could actually run the code in OC4J!

    Hello,
As you know Oracle is commiteed to industry standard and Java EE, so we are (inside OracleAS and JDeveloper team) involve in the standardization effort and well aware of the Glassfish/JAX-WS code and features.
Today our priority is really on J2EE 1.4 and we have delivered great tooling and runtime with 10gR3.
We are working on different evolutions around Web Services and Oracle stack such as support of more and more WS-*, more interoperability, additional annotations to provider better development experience; and as part of this overall effort JAX-WS is also included. So yes we are planning to support JAX-WS but not release date yet.

  • Current/planned support for HTML5/getUserMedia in FMS/AMS

    Hello,
AMS/FMS already supports HTML5 video playback, which is great.  However, more users every day are asking about support to record videos using HTML5.  Many users just read an article about getUserMedia and ask us if we plan on supporting this for recording.  The truth is, we don't know what and how Adobe plans on supporting this in Adobe Media Server.
Can someone comment on the status of recording streams using HTML5 and the time expected to be eventually supported?
    Thanks!

No, Apple never pre-announces what phones will be supported in the future.
In fact Apple is, by and large, leaving the support of new phones up to third-parties and the phone manufacturers, via iSync Plugins, so you'd be better off looking to them for guidance:
