Planning 9.3.1 Product Instance Registration Error
I am installing Hyp 9.3.1 and while configuring Product Instance Registration I receive the following error message.
System Failure:-Error while retrieving xml file from database.
I have tried to reinstall Planning, but come up with the same results. I followed the installation sequence step by step.
Can anyone point me in the right direction.......

Is there any more information in the logs, sometimes the rows around the error provide more info..
usually the error means that \Hyperion\common\config\PlanningSystemDB.properties contains incorrect details to the planning system database or that it cannot connect to the database.
I have seen this happen when there is an issue with a network, can you check the file contains the correct information.
sometimes entering an ip as a test in the following line SYSTEM_DB_URL=

I am looking at upgrading my UC cluster from 9.1 to 10.5 and when looking at ELM I see the following message at the bottom of the Inventory > Product Instances page:
Product Instance has pre-9.0 licenses installed. These can be migrated via the License Planning page.
I have searched around but I cannot find any info on this message or how i am supposed to migrate the licenses.
Has anyone seen this before? Any suggests?
Thanks in advanceYou would only get that if you upgraded to 9.1 and didn't upgrade the licenses through ELM. I would consult with cisco tac (licensing) or your cisco partner to validate you're fully in compliance and that nothing was missed when you upgraded to 9.
Check out this tech note on license migration from 8.x to 9.x to verify you do this before going to 10.5.

It basically involves going to the license planning page, performing the 'license upgrade', select the product instance and counts then send that all over to licensing @ cisco.com with a license request.

I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.

Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

Registration error in Jdeveloper while registering the portlet

Dialog Instance Installation error in last Phase
Dear experts
I have Installed DBCI with HACMP environment with Oracle 11G and AIX6.1 Production system
Now I am trying to install Dialog instance D02 but i am facing problem in last Phase 'shutdown and start Dialog instance'
the error as follows
An error occurred while processing option SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 Ready - Support Release 1 > SAP Application Server ABAP > Oracle > High-Availability System > Dialog Instance Last error reported by the step: ABAP processes of instance GPD/D02 [ABAP: UNKNOWN] did not start after 10:00 minutes. Giving up.). You can now:
Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
Choose Log Files to get more information about the error.
Stop the option and continue with it later.
Log files are written to /perfdata/saplog/sapinst_instdir/ERPEhP4/AS-ABAP/ORA/HA/DI.

ORA-44410: XE edition single instance violation error
Hi Experts,
Im trying to clone my database into another machine, That machine already have the XE database.
I created pfile ad password file for the new database.
After that
I did like this

Sundaravel.RWith Oracle XE, you can run only one instance. What you are trying to achieve is not possible with Oracle XE. You need to change your edition of Oracle if you want multiple instances running on the same machine.

Cs3 design standard registration error
I'm having trouble registering this product that I just installed. When I get to the registration window, it says"a problem was encountered while trying to send information over the Internet"
It is Adobe creative Suite 3, Design standard.
Also, I am getting an error box that says "Adobe updater quit unexpectedly"The software is installed and functioning on my new Macbook Pro. When I installed the CS3 software a few days ago, I reached a point where it asked for the serial number. It accepted the number as valid, then took me to an error screen saying “A problem was encountered while trying to send information over the internet.”
After contacting this forum, I’ve come to understand that is an old/invalid screen. I was given an alternate link, and when visited that link and I entered the serial number, it gave an error which read, “The code you entered is invalid. Please try again.” (I saved a screen copy of all this. It was the correct code.)
After visiting the last link you shared in your most recent reply, and navigating around the site, I found the "My Products" page, and entered my serial number from the CS3 Design Standard. It said the serial has already been registered.
At this point, the applications are loaded, and I have been using Photoshop and Bridge cs3 for the last 4 days. Illustrator and InDesign are working as well. I can give you the serial number if that will help
I have two questions:
Will the software stop working after 30 days?? (Do I need to be bothering with all these registration errors?)
How do I install the CONTENT DVD that came in the package? There is no Set Up file or Installer on the second dvd like there was on the Application DVD. Do I transfer the files off the disc into a select folder? Or are they supposed to be installed in some way using an installer? -
Moving apex database to production instance using datapump
Currently the apex database resides on a windows server and we would like to move it to our production server (unix). I don't want to create a new database for apex on the unix server but would prefer to import the apex tablespaces and users into the production instance. I tried to export just the apex schema's and then import them into a "TEST" instance on the unix side, but that doesn't seem to work since i'm getting errors indicating that the apex users don't exist in the target database. Has anyone done this before and could they identify how they did it.
My apex database is at 10.2.0.1 and my production database is at 10.2.0.3The application resides in the database. Not on the app server.
It looks like your apex installation has been upgraded a few times. Theres no point in copying all of the old files etc.
The approach I would use is as follows:
i) Install apex on your unix server (Install your latest version which looking at your schemas is Apex 3.01 )
(I suspect this is the step you're trying to avoid)
ii) You should still be able to point your existing http server to connect to the new database
iii) Once thats up and running, export your workspace from your database and install it onto the windows server
Then export your application and install it in the imported workspace.
You will have a much cleaner environment (only the flows_files and flows_030100 schemas will remain).
If you do it this way, everything will work correctly. -

Can you please let me know, what is the Hardware Requirements ( like CPU's, RAM size and HDD size)for Production Instance of EBS R12 version (12.1.1) about 3000 users.
The production instance would be deployed on a Multi-Node architecture where in the Database and Concurrent Managers would be deployed in one box.
Forms & Web server (Application tier) would be deployed on a different box. It is proposed to have a minimum of two front-end servers with a hardware based load balancer for traffic management.

VenkatMy company have EBS R12.1.2 on LINUX system. We used HR, Finance, DW, ODI, Single sign on, Hyperion and peoplesoft.
we use two DELL R910 servers for production. one for EBS and ODI, another server for Peoplesoft, Hyperion, DW, ....
Our record indicate highest concurrent users are 1120 on EBS server. For EBS server I will suggest at least following configuration for more tan 1000 users:
1. DELL R910 with 4 sockets in it. each sock may have 2 to 4 cores. Even this configuration sometime we still get server complain 90% CPU load warning.
2. Min 64 GB RAM . 128 GB or 256 GB prefer.
3. Redhat X86_64 version Linux . Prefer version 5.7 and up.
4. PERC 6/E or H800 RAID card and connect to MD1000 or MD1120.
5. One MD1000/1120 for database, and two for backup (1TB X 15 disks). Depend on how many days backup keep on RAID. Our EBS database data in one year grow from 60 GB to 350 Gb.
6. dedicate tape backup library and server. Due to large amount of data.
7. need Grid control (OEM) server to monitor all databases and application servers.
8. for application server, you need at least two DELL R910 and run Microsoft Hyper-V in it better performance than VMware. Configure All EBS relate application servers on each R910 for redundant and load balance. I f you plan is 3000 users. You may need 4 DELL R910 servers. Anyway it can add later.
9. same hardware configuration may need for staging/test application servers.
10. If you want RAC or standby databses, you need more.
11. For development staging/test database server, you may need similar configuration. We have four servers for that purpose.
13. Don't forget ORACLE license you need purchase for database, application server and ....
13. EBS solution is NOT cheaper. If you can do other way, think it first. NOT only hardware, man power also very expensive. -
SWPM RAC DB instance install error on srvctl add database -d

SCS ran successfully ,and now we are trying to install db instance.
During phase 'Create database' the installation stops with error code 1.

I don't know why the SWPM asks for the spfile if this is a fresh installation. The only file that exists is initISP.ora
Perhaps SWPM was supposed to create an spfile<SID>.ora from init<SID>.ora?
