Planning Application Access Type Question

Hello there!
I am creating users for essbase and I need to register these users in order for them to view the planning applications. However, on the create new user, the check box for planning (this should enable users to access planning apps) is disabled. How can I register these Essbase users to access the planning applications?
Your replies are very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi,
Why have you not converted essbase to shared services mode ? Then you manage both the Planning and Essbase users from Shared Services, it makes sense too.

I discovered that changing "Image interpolation" optioon in general preferences of Photoshop has direct influence on smart object interpolation type. You can even reinterpolate smart object after changing image interpolation in preference. Just click ctrl + t and enter.

  • Unable to create new Planning application

    I try create Planning Application:
http://<myserver>:19000/workspace -> Log On -> Navigate -> Administer -> Classic Application Administration -> Planning Administration
and receive an error on the page "Create Application":
An error occurred while processing this page. Check the log for details.
If I try http://<myserver>:8300/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jsp - I have this error too.
    Help, please

    Hi,
I have the same problem. I installed 9.3.1 exactly in the order given in documentation.
I also configured all products and planning data sources successfully.
    Products I Installed:
    Oracle Database
    1. Shared Services
    2. Essbase
    3. EPMA
    4. Reporting and Analysis
    5. HFM
    6. Planning
I have created a user given access to all the glbal roles available but still get this error.
Similarly in the Essbase user properties of (the default admin user and the user created by me), under Application Access type, only Essbase is enabled. Planning is disabled.

  • Unable to log on Planning application using Spreadsheet Add-In

    Hi.
We are experiencing some problem with Spreadsheet Add-In and Planning application.
We provisioned Planning users and created regularly security filters in Essbase: in fact, we are able to see users in Administration Console with Planning as Application Access Type.
However, users are able to connect to Essbase server using Spreadsheet Add-In but they cannot connect to any application: I mean that they do not see the Planning application and its related databases by Spreadsheet Add-In.
    Any idea?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Just one more issue.
I tried to create a filter in Essbase, naming it as filter 1. Actually, the filter work correctly, even if the its name has a blank space.
However, if I verify the filter in Administration console, it returns an error ( Invalid object name specified. filter 1 ): I think that it is a bug on 9.3.0.1.
With regards to Planning, I noticed that users are not assigned to their filter in Essbase. In fact, as I take a look under Security node in Administration Console, no user has Access Database set to Filter, even if I would expect for it. Am I wrong?
Anyway, that it is why users ticked to Analytic Services and Planning in Shared Services are able to use Spreadsheet Add-In... Unfortunately, they are able to retrieve all data... :_|
    Thanks a lot in advance

  • How to find out total of number of users accessing Hyperion Planning applications ?

    Hi All,
Could someone help me with the details of how to find out total number of users who are accessing Hyperion Planning application in Env.?
This is with regard to licenses so wanted accurate and unique information,
    Thanks
    Amith

    Hello Amith,
I think you should have a look at the blog of Cameron Lackpour http://camerons-blog-for-essbase-hackers.blogspot.be/
In the "Shared Services Stupid Trick" blogs, he shows how to find the real access to an application. The side benefit is that it is amusing to read.
In how far this is OK for the licenses is written on another page. You likely need to use the same method as Oracle does. Ask the Salesperson how to do this. (I am curious what his/her reply is).

  • Write access to Planning application EPM 11

I have a Planning application and there are users/groups that have write access through Planning and I want to give these users/groups write access through Web Analysis.
I see in Shared Services there is provisioning for "Analytic Server Write Access", which gives them the ability to write outside of Planning (GREAT)....but I don't want the users to write to all the members they have write access to in Planning, only a select few. Any ideas?
    Thx John

If you want to change the access in web analysis then you will probably have to look into updating the essbase filters.
If you do this you would have to keep rebuilding the filters after each planning refresh, can be done with maxl.
    Cheers

  • Read Access to Planning applications.

    Hi Gurus
Is it possible to give Read access to the Planning applications through HSS? similar to 'Read' access of the essbase apps? I m in 11.1.2.1 and the Provisioning Options we have are Administrator, Analytic Services Write Access, Cube Creator, Interactive user, Manage Models, Mass Allocation, Planner, Provisioning Manager, View user. Only view user sounds right for the read access I need. If I select read access, it looks like I need to give access to all the forms, dimensions (members) etc read access in each plannign app.. Is there a default Role for All Read Access to the Planning apps?
    thankyou
    rrK

Planning security is different than Essbase security. You'll have to provide him read access on your secured dimensions for him to view the dimensions. same is applicable for forms.

  • Unable to Access New Planning Application via Workspace

    Hi all
i have installed a new Planning server into the existing platform (there is no hardware load balancing so is seen as a single instance of planning) however i am using the existing workspace and HSS.
I have successfully installed and configured the new Essbase and Planning Products and registered against shared services. The issue i have is that i cannot get the new Planning application to be viewable via workspace. I get Application is invalid.!!.
The original (Existing) Planning on server 1 is set to 'Active Instance' in the product registration and these apps can be viewed by workspace etc.
I have created Planning on Server 2 and have created a new instance, but not set the 'Active instance' in the product registration!!!, i have also registered this as the web host tier on the Server 2 not the Server1.
If i use the direct planning URL's for either Planning Server 1 or Planning Server 2 i see the planning applications that are on each server!!
Can anyone tell me what configuration i have missed out! If it helps the Planning Server 1 has its own Shared Services Project and Planning Server 2 has its own Shared Services project.
I have restarted services on Server2 BUT not Server 1 as i am not allowed an outage until the end of the month!!.

    Hi,
Did you create a new Planning app in your new environment? Can you access this new app as a test?
You will need to asociated your app with an active instance and datasource.
In the workspace, when you go to Navigate - Applications - Planning, do you see your Planning app or is it not there at all?
Did you check the logs for any errors? Are you sure the user you are logging on to the Workspace as has been provisioned for that planning app?
When you configured BI+ did you make sure you ticked Planning?

  • Adding Essbase Server access to Planning Application group

    Hi All,
How we can add Essbase server access to Planning Application group in Shared services ? Pls. advice

You can't provision access against any application group.
However, you can create and use native user groups or use external user groups and provision those groups to have acccess to Essbase and Planning.
See this post for an example of how I like to set up groups in Shared Services for Planning:
    http://camerons-blog-for-essbase-hackers.blogspot.com/2009/08/planning-security-wrong-way-and-right.html
The top level group I refer to in the post is where I typically grant Essbase Server Access.

Please contact Admininstrator. I have edited the data source and given the correct credentials of essbase and my planing app and was succeeded.
Please suggest how to resove this issue.
    Thanks in Advance

Hi John..Thanks for your quick reply.
I have tested this again after your reply. I restarted Planning after updating the data source. There doesn't exist any application in Essbase. I mean I am trying to create databases in essbase. I checked the provisioning of the user (admin) to the essbase server whcih is fine. I opened Planning from Start menu. After trying to open the applicaation from Planning web getting the below messages from the Plaanning window:

  • Trying to access Planning application from workspace

    Hi ,
I have installed UI services and i am able to login to workspace using the below URL : http://localhost:19000/workspace/.
But when i go to Navigate ---> Applications there no planning applications showing up .
I have created and registered an planning application and it was created successfull.
Please let me know how shall i proceed .
    Thanks & regards,

This may not apply to your situation, but if you happen to be running pretty much the whole Hyperion product stack on a single, not-so-powerful computer (e.g., I run SS, Essbase, EAS server and console, BI+, Workspace, Planning, MS-IIS, and the usual assortment of desktop applications on my laptop as a sandbox environment), you may have to wait several MINUTES for the list of Planning applications to show up the first time on the menu in Workspace. The applications usually appear on the menu much faster on subsequent accesses.
As I say, this may not apply to your situation, but I thought I'd mention it as a possibility.

  • Can you copy Classic Planning Applications?

    Hi,
Is it possible to take an existing Classic Planning application, and make a copy (or duplicate version) of it? For Essbase applications, this is a simple process in EAS, just right click the application and hit Copy. However, while this method will copy a Planning applicaiton's outline in EAS and nominally show a new application in Enterprise View, it does not actually create another application in the Planning workspace. This makes sense, because the process for creating Planning Applications is not done in EAS. There are two questions I have, and an answer to either would be appreciated. First, is it even possible to make a copy of a Classic Planning Application, in order to allow two different admins to work seperately in two independent applications that both begin with the same dimensions, outline hierarchy, data forms, task lists, user provisions, and initial data set? Second, if it is possible, what is the process, or could someone point me in the direction of where I may find this in guides? Thank you.

    Thanks,
I am a bit confused by what you mean when you say "replace SQL repository". I am not very experienced in this area, I am using SQL Developer to access the RDBMS. Could you explain what the steps are for this? I can find the tables that are created when a new Planning App is made, but I'm not sure what they mean, so the more specific you can be, the more helpful it would be.
Also, when in Shared Services, I select the artifacts I want to migrate, and then click Define Migration, bringing up the Migration Wizard. However, after I select the source (which is the Old Planning App), I click next to select the target, and the screen goes blank white and seems to be stuck. I can exit out of the screen, but I have let it load for 20 minutes now several times, and it just stays on this blank white screen, like the Migration Wizard has frozen. Any ideas of what might be causing the Migration Wizard to go blank?
*Additional note:  I am also no longer able to check the Artifacts box for Relational Data in Shared Services for any of my applications, and am not able to open up the Tree to expand it.  The artifacts for Plan Type, Configuration, Global Artifacts etc. can still be selected.

  • Business Rules error when creating new classic planning application in 9.3.

Im trying to create a new planning application using classis planning application wizard in Workspace. everything seems alright untill i gets an error saying "Business rules cant connect to Planning"
other than this Business rules working fine and i can open business rules in other applications and i can access business rules repository in EAS.
    Any thoughts on this ?

Further invesitgation bears this problem out.
Oracle support recommend wrapping the SimpleType in a ComplexType. This does work, but now I have an extra wrapper element to deal with. I either have to use the wrapped type in my other complex, composed Types and/or add an external wrapping element when trying to create Business Services in BPM to call the BusinessRules I've created.
    This is a bit messy.
To be clear, this does not seem to be an issue with Business Rules; the BR editor and generation of Facts (including simple restricted types -> JAXB 2.0/Java Enumerations) seems to work correctly. There seems to be an issue exposing DFs as Services. The code which generated the WSDL and its supporting types seems to choke on restricted SimpleTypes.
As a side note, it seems that HumanTasks have a similar limitation
