Planning, Attribute Dimensions, FR

I have a situation where we are creating reports in FR
We are trying to leverage the attribute dimension. If we point to FR in Essbase we can leverage it. If we point FR to Planning it doesn't give us that option. Is this functioning as designed or are we missing a step

Yes that is the way it works unfortunately, it has to be an essbase connection.

  • ODI Planning Attribute Dimension

I have an existing Product dimension that was created via ODI 10.1.5.6 to Planning 11.1.1.3.03 -- the Product Dim loads fine. Then I attached an attribute dimension called "Product Line" to it using custom attributes. I added four attributes to attach to products. Then re-reversed the Planning application in ODI Planning Model. I can see "Product Line" attribute load dimension (to load new attributes) in the Dimension hierarchy in ODI. However I cannot see a new Column for "Product Line" under the "Product" dimension in ODI. Am I missing something??

So adding the manual dimension seemed like it would work. However it gave me an error as it didn't recognize it when I executed the integration. In any event, deleted the planning model, recreated it and reversed it and the field showed up. Fun stuff! Thanks again.

  • Loading Planning attribute dimension alternate hierarchies with ODI

Does anyone know how to load an attribute dimension alternate hierarchy via an ODI interface? I'm assuming that alternate hierarchies are allowed in attribute dimensions?

If you are talking about created a shared hieararchy then no this is not possible as you shouldn't be able to do it in planning.
If it is just another hierarchy in your attribute dimension then you should be able to load parent/child members to build it using ODI.

  • How to design Flat file for loading attribute dimension in a planning application

    Dear Gurus,
I have a requirement to extract attribute dimensions from an essbase application and load it to another planning application. I have a dimension called Program and two attribute dimensions Sales Manager, Accounts manager associated with Program dimension in Essbase application. I will Extract these dimensions using Essbase outline extractor. After Extracting the attribute dimensions I have to load these dimensions to planning applications using outline load utility. Kindly guide me how to design the flat file for loading attribute dimensions in planning application.
    Thanks and Regards
    SC

You could dig through the docs and try to figure out the file format manually, or you could do this the easy way.  Simply use the Outline Load Utility to export your attribute dimension from Planning.  The export file format is the same as the import file format.  You might have to manually add a couple of test members to your attribute dimension so that your export file has some content.  Then simply update the file you exported, and import it.
(I am assuming you have already manually created the Attribute dimension in Planning, and that you simply need to add members to it.)
    Hope this helps,
    - Jake

  • How to hide the Attribute dimension from Planning webform

    I am in Planning 9.3.1
We are using members in row section of webform w.r.t Attribut dimension
so when we are viewing the webform- it is displaying member name followed by Attribute dimension name .
any way to hide that Attribute dimension member from the webform.
    KK

In the Dimension Properties for that dimension, select "Enable custom attribute display" but dont pull the attribute from Available Dimensions to Selected Dimensions. I've given the name of the property from 11.1.1.3 version, so not sure if its the same in 9.3.1 but it'll be somewhat similar.

Can we see Attribute dimension members in Planning data form ? Pls. help

Yes it is possible in 11.1.1.3, for example in your row select a dimension that has attributes associated with it. select dimension properties next to the down drop.
Tick "Enable custom attribute display (setting applies to all dimensions with associated attributes): "
    Select the attribute dimension

  • Loading Attribute Dimension - Hyperion Planning

    Hello Everyone,
I appreciated a lot informations that I found here. I red the http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2008/11/odi-series-loading-essbase-metadata.html
about loading attribute dimension on Essbase, but when I try to execute the same steps using Hyperion Planning Adapter in ODI, I cannot see the option inside the model to reverse also all dimension attribute, hence I cannot load members on my dimension attribute. Do you know how can I develop the attribute dimension load on Hyperion Planning?

    Hi,
You first need to create the attribute dimension in planning, ODI does not create dimensions.
Once you have created your attribute dimension you can reverse the planning application again and the attribute dimension should be created as a DataStore

  • Reporting on Attribute Dimension in HFR using Planning Connection

    Hi,
We are using Planning/HFR version 11.1.2. We have one issue with Hyperion Financial Reports. For connecting to HFR we have used the Planning Database connection. Apart from Standard dimensions we have also got attribute dimensions in our application. When I go and develop a report in the FR Studio - in the Dimension Layout the Attribute dimensions are not displayed only the standard dimensions are available for report selection. We also want to report on the attribute dimension. Is there a way we can achieve that?
...We are aware that if we connect to FR using an Essbase connection the attribute dimensions show up on the Dimension layout but we have some text data to report at which essbase cannot handle.......
Any response on this would be highly appreciated
    Alex

    Hi Alex
That sounds like a bug, I have used attribute dimensions in reporting lots of times in earlier versions and I'm sure that some of those used planning rather than essbase connections. I've not read the documentation around the subject so can't be sure but it sounds pretty fundamental so I'd be surprised if not a bug.
Worth doing a bit of digging on Oracle support or in the readme files or even raising an SR if you have that option.

  • Smartview 11.1.2.3 - Planning connection does not allow reporting off Attribute Dimensions

    Hello
In Smart View version 11.1.2.3 one now has a 'Planning' connection to connect to planning
This is very handy as one can report text instead of numbers for comment fields and smart lists
However, Attribute dimensions are not visible to use in the Planning connection.
This is quite a big issue as customers extensively make use of 'Attribute dimensions ' in reporting
Has anybody been able to use Attribute dimensions when using the planning connection?
    Berndt

Attributes are available on Essbase connections and unfortunately not Planning.

  • Attribute dimension in the planning Web form

    Hi All,
Is there any option to populate attribute dimension as a drop down in the Planning web form, I see option to show attribute dimension in the Other Properties page in the web form, But attribute dimension is not showing in the drop downs. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    KGP

I don't think there's anything specific one does to make the attribute dimension show up on the form.
When I look at the Member Selection Entity window on my form, in the upper left hand side I see a box labelled "Members in Entity".
Directly below that is another box labelled "Attributes".
Are you sure that you really have the attributes assigned?
You can check in Classic Planning, by managing dimensions, selecting Entity, and then clicking on the Custom Attributes button. You should then see the attribute dimensions/members assigned to Entity.
You can also check in EAS.
I believe the association also appears in EPMA but it's been a while since I looked at it.

  • Maintain attribute dimensions in Hyperion Planning, via ODI

How can I move/maintain attribute members in Hyperion Planning, preferably via ODI?
I have been loading an attribute dimension into Hyperion Planning, via ODI. The problem is that some children have been previously loaded to incorrect parents. However, a reload does not seem to move the children to their rightful place in the hierarchy.
There are no errors being generated.
    Cheers

Are you definitely sure it is not on the planning side the issue lies, I would create a file and then use the outline loader to compare load times to see where the issue is first.

  • Reporting Attribute dimension on Planning Database in HFR

Can you report attribute dimension values in Hyperion Financial Reports when connection to the Planning database connection? I am not seeing Planning Details as an option in HFR as only Planning appears. Is there something that I'm missing? I would like to report Smart List alphanumeric values on HFR but also be able to pull in the attribute dims, yet that doesn't seem possible.

  • EPMA/Planning custom dimension member attributes question

I have a custom dimension associated to an attribute dimension that I am setting via dataloader. Can I query on members with missing values of an attribute?
    For example,
    Dimension: Product
Attribute: Color Members: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow
Should it also include a Color member “Other” and require that every Product member have the Attribute Color set to one of the members?
    Thanks for your help -

    Hi,
If you are requiring to do analysis on other areas then it is probably best practice to create another attribute which will store this information, as you mentioned you could just create a member called "Other"

  • Planning attributes in 11.1.2.2 and start/end dates in a cell

Hi. In Planning 11.1.2.2., can I make use of attribute dimensions as I would in a BSO Essbase cube?
Also can I enter a start date and an end date entry in two different account members (e.g., start_date and end_date)?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, I believe you can use it.
And you can change the Account member Data type as Date. Then use these Accounts in the Planning Web Form. Form will give you facility to select the Date...

  • How to Build Attribute Dimension Dynamically & Load with LCM?

Hi, I'm trying to modify the existing outline at cilent's site. For some reason, when I pulled the outline with extractor, it didnt come out in the format that is compatible with Outline Load Utility. I was told to use LCM so I may still load with minimal to no modification to the existing structure of outline.
So can I build dimensions dynamically in EXCEL then load with LCM and push to Planning?

The log came back with many unrecognized headers in the outline. I spoke to Oracle Support many times, and they said that the format of our outline is improper for Outline Load Utility to read.
Since the outline has already been incorporated, we are not allowed to many any significant changes. That is why we were advised to use LCM.
I tried to use a sample of one of the existing attribute dimensions in XML as the base and build the new attribute but it failed. I would appreciate if you can provide steps by steps resources to show how to add new attributes to the existing outline.
