Planning design and Manufacturing in SNP heuristic

We want to SNP plan the 'Design' and 'Manufacturing' processes to determine the start dates and capacity requirements for these processes. We are using SNP heuristic for planning.
We have modeled Design and Manufacturing in separate locations. We have an issue with modeling
For example the demand for SKU1 is 10,000 and SKU2 is 5,000
- Manufacturing Capacity is driven by the total quantity i.e. 15,000 (10,000 + 5000)
- Design Capacity is driven by number of SKUs i.e. 2 (SKU1 and SKU2). The quantity that drives manufacturing can change, but design is affected only by the number of SKU that should be designed
How can we model this in SNP?
A Dependant demand from manufacturing will be a function of the quantity and not a function of # SKU. Since the quantity varies by period, we can't maintain a ratio of quantity to # SKU also.

We are planning at an aggregated level (hundreds of SKU in an APO product). The number of SKUs in an APO product change over time. The product mix changes frequently and new SKU add / replace exisitng SKU.
But only the number of new SKU is relevant for design and manufacturing is driven by the total volume (of both old and new SKU).
I am currently thinking of an enhancement which will calculate the ratio of (volume / new SKU) per period and use it in the PPM. Is there a better way to model this contraint?

    Hi Marcelo,
Yes, there are some requirements for certificates in Expressway.
    Expressway Core (Exp-C)
    - Can be signed by either External or Internal CA
    - Better to use a cluster name even if you start with 1 peer in Exp-C cluster. In the future, if more peers are added, changes would be minimal.
    - Better to use FQDN of cluster as CN of certificate, this way the traversal zone configuration on Expressway-E won't require any change even if new peers are added to Exp-C cluster.
    - If CUCM is mixed mode, include security profile names (in FQDN format) as Subject Alternate Names
    - The Chat Node Aliases that are configured on the IM and Presence servers. They will be required only for Unified Communications XMPP federation deployments that intend to use both TLS and group chat. (Note that Unified Communications XMPP federation will be supported in a future Expressway release). The Expressway-C automatically includes the chat node aliases in the CSR, providing it has discovered a set of IM&P servers.
    - For TLS b/w CUCM, IM-P & Exp-C
+ If using self-signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Cisco Tomcat, cup, cup-xmpp certificates from IM-P on Exp-C. Load callmanager, Cisco Tomcat certificates from CUCM on Exp-C.
+ If using Internal CA signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Root CA certificates on Exp-C.
      + Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, cup-trust, cup-xmpp-trust on IM-P.
+ Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, callmanager-trust on CUCM.
    Expressway Edge (Exp-E)
    - Signed by External CA
    - Configured Unified Communications domain as Subject Alternate Name
    - If using a cluster, select FQDN of this peer as CN and FQDN of Cluster + this peer as Subject Alternate Name.
    - If XMPP federation is being deployed, enter the same Chat Node Aliases as entered in Exp-C.

  • Quota arrangement in SNP heuristic

    Dear all,
we want to use inbound quota arrangement in snp heuristic to distribute the demand among different ppm. But it seems that the snp heuristic don't respect periodic lot sizes in case of quota arrangement. In product master we have defined 2 weeks periodic lotsize. But the heuristic applies muliple planned oders for the same day. Any ideas?
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
I checked in sap help files also and found that SNP heuristic does not support periodic lot sizes in terms of quota arrangements. I have given below the lot size supported by sap from sap help as follows:-
    Lot size
    ·        Procedure (lot-for-lot, fixed lot size etc.)
    ·        Safety stock method

  • Planned Delivery Time in SNP Heuristic

    Folks
Need help in mapping the following requirement. We are implementing SNP heuristic, the requirement here is..
    1) When Heuristic plans a product, it should ignore the lead time when ever the demand is with in the lead time and should create supply in the past and respect the lead time out side of the lead time.
    E.g:
    Today - 25th June
Procurement Lead time - 10 Days.
    Available stock = 0
    Planned receipts = 0
    Demand on 28th June = 100
We want heuristic to create receipts for the demand with opening date in the past & delivery date to be 28th June.
Kindly help if you think we can make SNP heuristic meet the above requirement.

    Hi,
    I am new to APO.
This kind of situation can be handled in R3 by allowing the Orders to be created in the Past by setting
the ' Start date in Past allowed indicator ' while defining the Plant Parameters for the Plant in MRP and while mainaining the MRP Group also.
    Thanks,

  • Planning function and planning sequence of Design studio new features!!

    Hi Experts
Recently I have updated my design studio to 1.3 and happy to see many new updates. Meanwhile i saw some new features add planning function and planning sequence.
As per my understanding, Using this features we can enter data at run time. My query is here
Is it like we are entering data at run time and see the changes in current data(chart series)
Ex: Add discount for product 10% and relevant data(in chart) reduced to 10%
    or
Is it like integrated planning? Once we enter data in run time and it saves in BW planning cube?
I am totally confused with this feature.. Can any one help me to get clear understanding on this please !
    Regards,
    Mathivanan M

    Hi,
maybe these two article can help you:
#1 Planning in Design Studio 1.3
#2 Planning in DS 1.3 - Using different script methods for planning
As i unterstand, it's only possible to write back in BW.

  • Purchase requisition date in SNP planning book and product view not in sync

    Hello Experts,
We have an issue with display of purchase requisition date in SNP planning book.
We are manually entering the PR's for a perticular week from Monday - Sunday(01.09.2014- 07.09.2014), when the last PR is entered on 07.09.2014, it does not appear on the same day in planning book(cell becomes empty) and moves to 06.09.2014, thus quantity on 06.09.2014 is the summation of the quantities present on 06th and 07th.
The PR dates are appearing correct when we click on display details in planning book and they are correct in product view, MD04 as well.
Additionally, this is the same date on which daylight saving time comes  into effect.
Kindly advise if anyone has faced similar situation earlier.
    Many thanks,
    Aditi

    Hi Aditi,
Check the time zone that you have in your location in ECC and APO.
Also note it is recommended that you maintain the same system time zone in APO and in ECC. (check tcode STZAC in both systems).
Different time zones should generate this kind of inconsistencies.
    Kind Regards,
    Mariano

  • Difference between snp planned order and pp/ds planned order

    Hi to all,
can any one please explain the difference between snp planned order and pp/ds planned order. I am relatively new to this area

The primary differences are as below.
    1. The master data for SNP Planned Order is SNP PPM/PDS where the minimum duration for an operation is a day. So it is used for rough cut capacity planning.
The master data for PPDS Planned Order is a PPDS PPM/PDS where operations are down to minute and second level. Moreover sequence dependent operation planning is possible in PPDS Planned Orders. It is for detailed capacity planning.
    2. SNP Planned Orders are created in SNP while PPDS Planned Orders are created in PPDS or when transferred from ERP to APO.
    3. SNP Planned Order need to be converted to a PPDS Planned Order before it can be used in the Execution System (ERP) for further processing - like conversion to Production Order. Moreover the category types of the orders are different in APO (EE for SNP and AI for PPDS).
    Hope this helps.

  • Certification sample questions: Planning and Manufacturing with GATP

    Dear Certified Folks
I have a certification exam in planning and manufacturing with gATP in couple of weeks from now. Could someone help me direct to some sample questions (other than the ones available on sap.com/education page) in case some kind consulthropist has maintained such a thing. I googled a lot but didnt land any. But not everything is available on google. I sincerely want to evaluate myself and accrodingly revise or postpone the test.
The sample questions I attempted on sap educaiton pages looked so vague and simple at the same time that I felt no one can go wrong but I got 5 in 10 wrong. To feel good, accounting for mutiple correct answer ones I got 9 of 14 right options in 10 questions right. If these are the kind of questions in final test, I will definately fail .. fixed scoring or scaled. I mean even If I study thrice over I will fail. I am purely educating myself on the system I have access to doing F1's and help.com plus some practical experience of a couple of "modules"
So please help, guide. share some strategies
    Thanks
    Guru

Thank you Ravi for the advise.
Pardon me for my curiosity but certified consultants in a community forum like this is something that to be certified aspirants will naturally look forward to for guidance, tips and experiences and some tough questions as challenges from seniors. The same as we do in schools all over the world incl, third world countries. if this is not the purpose of this forum then I wonder what else is. Other information is available on sap wesbites.
I appreciate the fact that I cant pass exams with sample questions. There are enough bogus lords outsides trying to sell their SAP wares on the platter. but I dont need them to pass the test. If that were so in the past I would not have cared to registered here
Apologies for breaking the rules of this forum, albeit inadvertently.
I will see how can I help myself.

  • SNP Heuristic: Creation of purchase requisition

    Hi experts,
we face following problem: heuristic creates purchase orders when there is no source of supply.
    Background:
there is a forecast demand for a location product on a customer location without transport lane to the production plant due to false master data.
The SNP heuristic generates purchase requisitions to fulfill the demand and there is no requirements shortage.
So it is hard to recognize which forecast demands can't be fulfilled.
Is there a parameter in material master or in a heuristic profie which disables the creation of purchase requisitions in snp heuristic when there is no source of supply.
If no purchase requisition is created there will be a requirement shortage which can be recognised by an alert.
    Thanks for your help.
    Robert

    hi.
As per heuristic process , the system will create a purchase requisition if there are no Tlane exists and the material's procurement type is F/X since it is a infinite planning.
Now you can use a optimizer or CTM to restrict the system from creating purchase requisition.
Also you can try with location heuristic.
    Hope this can help.
    regards,
    kaushik

  • Max stock level as safety stock from material master while running SNP Heuristic

    Hi Experts,
Our user wants to consider max stock level as safety stock from material master while running SNP Heuristic, not the actual safety stock.
Is there any possibility for this setup?
    --Kishore

    Hi Kishore,
With the given details I suggest that the user can maintain the max stock level values directly in safety stock field of the material master for all materials to be planned by SNP heuristic (keeping the max stock level field blank). Then this safety stock field (which has actually the max stock level values) will update the safety stock values in APO product master and in turn can be considered for SNP heuristic.
Note: The max stock level field in APO product master is used by SNP heuristic only when the target stock level method is maintained as 4, 5 or 6. Since your requirement is to use max stock level as safety stock, so it does not look like that you will be using these target stock level methods or the max stock level field in R/3 and APO. So, this can be left as blank in both R/3 and APO.
Please let me know if this helps.
    Regards,
    Umesh

  • SNP heuristic error maximum number of orders per period reached

    Hello All,
I am getting one strange error "APO SNP heuristic error maximum number of orders per period reached (000000040)"
Product XXX/ Location XXX: Maximum number of orders per period reached (000000040)
For the problem : PPDS heuristic is working fine, while running the SNP heuristic I am getting this problem.
    Please let me know asap.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Kind Regards,
    Santosh

There is a section in the IMG where you can change this behaviour.
in SPRO - SAP SCM - IMG
    -> Advanced Planning and Optimisation
      -> Supply Chain Planning
        -> Supply Network Planning (SNP)
           -> Basic Settings
              -> Maintain Global SNP Settings
You will see the field "Heu.: Orders per Bkt" which should have the value of 40 in there, e.g. the limit to the number of orders SNP can raise in any planning bucket.
If you raise this number (to say 100) then hopefully your message will no longer be issued by the system.
Alternatively, you can check the cause of why the system is rasing so many orders. For example, check the lot size that the Product has for that location (lot-for-lot will create an order for every demand for example).
    Hopr that helps
    Regards
    Ian

  • SNP Heuristic - Capacity View

I am using standard SNP heuristic planning book. On capacity view, we can see the resource consumption and Demand quantity of products that are loading these resources.
Requirement is to see the Resource consumption by Product (not demand quantity).
For example, Product A demand 100 units, needs resource X - 0.5 per unit
    Product B demand 300 units, needs resource X  - 0.25 per unit
In resource view, we can see total resource consumption of 125. We can also see Product A demand 100 and Product B demand 300.
But requirement is to see total consumption of 125 and drill down to see Product A consuming 50 and Product B consuming 75.
Any ideas? (We can do a complex compute using the PPM information in the resource drill down. Is there a better option?)

    Hi,
I have resolved this issue, but couldnt write earlier.
But I figured out the drill down from header or 'show dependant objects' behave differently. I had drilled down through 'show dependant objects' ealier which was showing the demand by product.
When I drilled down from header, I could see the resource consumption by product.
    Thanks for responses!

  • Fixed pegging with SNP heuristic

    Hello Guys,
I have a requirement from the client and to achieve this i wanted SNP heuristic to consider fixed pegging created manually.
So i have the below doubts:
    1. Do SNP Heuristic consider the manual fixed pegging. I tested the scenario but its not working.
    2. Is there a work around to it.
    Thanks
    Kishor

    Hi Cyrille,
    Thanks for quick response.
    Let me explain the scenario,
                       wk1     wk2
    Forecast      10
    Receipt        10
The above situation after SNP planning run.
                       wk1      wk2
    Forecast      10
    Receipt                    10
2nd table is after pushing the receipt to wk2 manually. Now when i ran SNP heuristic, its creating another receipt on wk1 of 10, which is a situation of excess supply.
I do not want heuristic to create another receipt for wk1. Manual fixing can help, if heuristic will consider it.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Kishor

  • Planned order to Manufacturing order conversion

    Hi Experts,
We are in SCM 5.0 & R/3 ECC 5.0.   I have developed one RFC function module in APO, for planned order to manufacturing order conversion, using BDC for transaction /sapapo/rrp2. This rfc function module, iam calling in r/3 program.
The issue is, using this enhancement, if i put the conversion indicator tick in APO, it is not converted into manufacturing order & subsequently not transferred to r/3 via CIF. But, if i do it directly in APO through normal transaction, it is getting converted into manufacturing order & the same is transferred to r/3.
What could be the reason ?   Any help is appreciated.
    regards,
    Nagarajan.J

First of all I think there is inconsistency in what you have reported as the problem.
"This rfc function module, iam calling in r/3 program"
    "using BDC for transaction /sapapo/rrp2"
Transaction /sapapo/rrp2 is to query Orders in APO and not for setting conversion indicator.
Use transaction /SAPAPO/RRP7 instead for mass conversion.
Also remember just setting the conversion indicator will not suffice. The Planned Order with the Conversion Flag needs to be saved that will trigger CIF transfer.

  • CWB - Salary Plan - Review and Submit section is not working

    Hi All,
I am implementing Compensation Workbench and after successfully plan design I am able to see the plan on CWB admin home. Set Budgets and Allocate Compensation functions are working perfectly but Review and Submit and Manage Approval Functions are not working , means when I access the Review and submit section the submit for approval button even all other buttons are not working means when press, nothing happen, it looks that no code is written behind the buttons.
first of all I would like to confirm that without this Can we Increase the salary amount in the payroll elements? if this is the necessary part Can we bypass this part after doing Allocate compensation function ? If no bypass then kindly suggest what to do because I am unable to update the employees salaries due to this problem.
