Planning Hierarchy Maintenance with Gaps

Dear Experts,
Iam using flexible planning for sales plan. I am using flexible planning. I wanted to create planning hierarchy with Gaps. I mean at some levels I will not be having any data to enter. For eg. My first level is country and second level is region. I will not have region for some countries. So when I maintain the planning hierarchy I will not have any value at the region level for a country.
How can I achieve this. When I dont enter any value, system throws the error message, enter the values without gap.

HI There,
SAP does not allow maintaining Plng Hier with gaps coz that breaks the planning chain. We had a similar situation & we made up "distinct" dummy values at that level & plugged them in.
The values need to be distinct for each level/segment/CVC (unique), else it'll mess up the planning. The aggregation/dis-aggregation would go for a toss, if the system finds a common value at one given level.
Bottom line, the Planning Hierarchy structure cannot converge at any intermediate level with a common value, it has to be a pyramid structure.

Table for maintenance plan and maintenance cycle and Unit

Hello,
I need to know the table where the values are stored for maintenance plan, maintenance cycle and Unit.
I know that we can get the maintenance cycle and unit from MMPT table.
Question 1
If the maintenance plan has only a single cycle then the data is stored in above table MMPT, but if a maintenance plan has mutiple cycles like 1 maintenance plan has maintenance cycle as 364 Days and 1092 days then the data is not stored in MMPt table.
Question 2
Requirement is I need to develop a report where in I need maintenance order, maintenance plan and the relevant maintenance cycle and unit. Supose an maintenance order is created for the above maintenance plan which has 2 maintenance cycle how can I identify for which maintenance cycle the order is created.

Product Allocation: Planning Hierarchy

hello, friends.
in tests, product allocation is performing as required. it is now time to set the data in PRD.
the hierarchy involves Material, Plant and Sold-to. all-in-all, this translates to a large number of nodes (in the thousands, due to the many possible combinations of the 3 levels). it is not practical to do MC61/MC62 manually.
is there any BAPI that would allow uploading of the planning hierarchy? can the database table accomodate potentially 1 million line items in the table SxxxE?

I am not aware of any BADIs, BAPIs to do this. But if there are programs for deleting, regeneration (RMC**, MC**), so there could be programs for creation/generation also. So check the OSS notes blow.
I am also wondering if you could use SE16 since an infostructure is essentially a table and SAP kind of alluded to it in OSS note 674719 - Planning hierarchy: Highest level is deleted.
Also may be you could use Copy From functionality available within the Transactions MC61 and MC62?
I beleive the recommended largest size of the database is 500, 000 ( 1/2 Million) entries. Take a look at OSS note 631323 which talks about this and provides some useful tips. Also check out the notes mentioned within.

PLANNING HIERARCHY OPTIONAL FIELD

Hi Gurus
I have one scenario iam maitaining a Planning Hierarchy against my customised information structure
It has the following characteristics
1) Sales Org
2) Sold to Party
3) Material Group1
4) Distribution Channel
5) Division
6) Material
7) Plant
During Planning Hierarchy creation by MC61 i don't want to enter the MaterialGroup1 and Sold to Party for some Materials,
But the system not allowing me to do that and saying "Enter charateristic values without gap"
Is there any setting possible to keep those charateristic value entry as Optional for our required characteristic fields

I don't think we can skip any of the Charactristics levels above , If you think it is absolutely necessary to create the Planning heirachy only for the combination of sales org and below without the Sold to Party and Material Group, PLease change the order of the characteristics like
1)Sales Org
2) Material
3)Distribution Channel
4) Division
5) Sold to Party
6) Material Group
7) Plant
In consistesnt planning it doenot matter How they are sequenced.

Resource planning in cprojects with xRPM or MRS?

Dear Experts,
To my understanding there are four options to perform resource planning in combination with cprojects:
1.     Do a planning in cprojects only
2.     Use resource planning application (RPA) from SAP CRM
3.     Schedule resources with xRPM
4.     Schedule resources with SAP MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling)
I have a couple of questions:
(a) Is it correct that I cannot assign resources to project roles in xRPM based on qualification matching? Is it right that xRPM is used rather for a long-term view to define the available capacity of projects/roles than assigning specific resources to roles?
(b) How can help SAP MRS in comparison to option 1 (planning in cprojects)? I assume that I can do also in cprojects itself a qualification matching. MRS provides a more detailed qualification object to cover complex requirements, right? What else provides MRS what cannot be managed in cprojects itself?
(c ) If we want to use a staffing process were project lead and resource manager doing the staffing and have the option to suggest or reject roles, we have the option to use xRPM or MRS, right? What are the differences? In MRS we have options like using several resource managers, softbooking/hardbooking or itu2019s possible to define the workflow who proposes resources and who is doing the final staffing (project lead or staffing manager), reasons for rejections can be configured etc. Are these options in xRPM available as well?

I have not implemented MRS or RPA so can only answer your first question. You cannot do a resource search via qualification in Portfolio Management (aka xRPM), typically you would do this in Project Management (aka cProjects) and this functionality works fine provided you have maintained qualification data for BP's and roles. Portfolio Management financial planning function can be used for a long term view as you have mentioned. However, it is also typically used to summarize and/or roll up resource demand / assignment to a bucket or portfolio level or summarize resources for multiple projects via initiatives or collections. You can also use a top down approach and at a high level plan values at the bucket level (i.e. forecasted demand or business case demand) and compare against detailed planned / assigned demand rolled up from project management.

Creation of Budget Billing Plan for Countries with Tax Jurisdiction

Hello Experts,
When I create a budget billing plan for a company code with country Canada/USA and jursidiction TAXCAJ/TAXUSJ using transaction EA61, I get the message "Taxes with jurisdiction code not permitted with down payments"(Message no. >0194). The long text for this message says "Delete your entry in the field for jurisdiction code" Is any one aware where from this jurisdiction code should be deleted.
Is it possible to create budget billing plan for countries with jurisdiction code at all ?

What I learnt in the process of exploring the functionality is that Payment PLan (BBP or AMB) is the budget billing method for countries with Tax Jurisdiction. Statistical, Partial & Payment Scheme only works when jurisdiction is not defined for tax procedure. Payment scheme is the recommend procedure for Eurpopean market

Planning function ended with errors

Hi Folks,
Issue: While Executing The Planning Sequnce it is througing me Planning Function Ended with Errors.
I have one existing Planning Sequence which contain the Filter and Planning Copy Function. And also Variable input ( two variables 1 is Profict Center and 2nd one is Fiscal Year)
First i was tried to execute the Planning Sequece it througing me error message saying as in below:-
Values entered are invalid; check these values again
Variables contain invalid values.
Specify a value for variable Fiscal Year (Single Value Entry, Required)
You have to enter variables before you execute
Then i have entered Fiscal year value in the Planning Sequece>Variable Input>select the Fiscal Year Variable>Input help>selected the 2008-->ok. Now then Fiscal year variable is showing 2008.
And then i was executed once again here Planning Sequnce it is througing me Planning Function Ended with Errors.
Here is cross checked Filter area associated Variables( two variables 1 is Profict Center and 2nd one is Fiscal Year).
1.Profit Center Variable: Containing the default value is 1000
2.Fiscal Year Variable : Does not maintained any default values.

Please execute the planning function with Execution with Trace option.
Verify the planning function particularly from Values.
Also some simple tricks:
1. Try with some other values.eg. FisYear 2007. ( Check in database)
2. Save the variant in variable input panel & then execute.

I know this is a game development forum, but I had one question. I have also created a hierarchy and inserted characteristic nodes but what is the u201CText Nodesu201D used for and what is the difference between that and the u201Ccharacteristic nodesu201D?
e.g.
Under the Characteristic Nodes u201CRegionu201D, I created a text node XXX 1.
What is the significance from the point of view of reporting and how will XXX 1 as a Leave under u201CRegionu201D get data when the entire hierarchy is dropped in a report?

I am using flexible planning for sales planning when I define a planning hierarchy, I want to include a user defined field also.
The requirement is like this, Planner wanted to see the cumulative sales figures of domestic and exports (Exports will be to more than one country. So I cant use countries for this).
How can I do this?

Thanks for the reply. Since Iam using flexible planning, I will be creating a user defined info structure. But my question is can I include a custom defined characteristic also in the hierarchy which is not available in the field catalogs for characteristics system is showing?
If so where should I define this characteristics first before assigning to the information structure.

In my client,other processess such as order to cash, resource management etc screen are designed in Web dynpro Java(deployed in SAP EP) to make it more user friendly and good in resolution. My client is very much happy with SRM 7.0 business logic, however not happy with the standard SRM screen. They have asked to redesign SRM screen to make it more user friendly and good in resolution.
