Planning on buying an Ipod Touch 8 gb

Well, I plan on purchasing a new Ipod Touch soon but don't know which generation to get and whether I should wait longer. At Best Buy Canada, the Ipod Touch 2G 8 gb is $199 but is it worth paying an extra $20 for the 3G? From what I can see, the Touch hasn't/barely changed. I'm also worried that they'll release a Touch 3G 8 gb with the hardware upgrade. I plan on using the Ipod Touch for music, a few movies/videos but mainly for apps and wifi.

It really all depends on how much music/how many apps/movies you plan on having. If you want to keep multiple movies, have more than 500 songs and a crap load of apps, then you might want to think about a higher gigabyte count. For example, I have about 400 songs (about 2 gigs) and about 112 apps (1.5 gigs) and that leaves me room for one, maybe two movies. If you are about the same, then 8 gigs should be good. But if you want wiggle room, then you might want to go higher.
However, waiting for the next generation may prove to be a bit tedious since it's almost a guarantee that it's not coming until next September, seeing as how they have already released the new iPods for the next year.

The only way you're going to get facetime is if you purchase your device is a country that hasn't banned its use. However, I'm not sure if it'll even work if you do that. As in the program is disabled on the server level....for example I can bring my US device into Saudi but Facetime will not work until I get outside of the country's borders.
Skype is a program that's often mentioned as a work around for that country's ban on Facetime. (I know it exists for iPad, not sure if there's an iPod version)

1. does it have the same preset EQ's like the current iPhone? can you edit/customise the EQ's?
2. i have heard that you can "set" and "assign" an EQ to a song before uploading it to a device? may i know how?
3. anyone know if any 3rd-party software would also be fine in transferring files to the iPod?
4. any sugestions for a good Divx player for the iPod Touch?
* i have files mostly of the .avi and .mkv formats
5. any sugestions for an alternative music player app that i can download which "added" features like some surround sound, customisable EQ's, etc.

All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc. Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones. I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch.
As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great. And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen. And cool colors!

It depends on what you want to use the ipod for. I bought a touch to help me manage lists of things to do, my calendar when I am away from my desk and my mobile me account where I use the public folder. I've found the ipod to be very useful for all of these things . . . making my job easier. I've shopped the applications store and found inexpensive applications that I use everyday -- Todo being my favorite find.
I can't seem to figure out the problem with sending / receiving emails. But, overall I am pleased with my purchase.

It has nothing to do with where the iPod was purchased (except for FaceTime since some middle-eastern countries prohibit FT and it does not appear on those iPods). I depends upon what is available in the App store in the counry where you are located.

Good day, I know someone who purchased an iPod from the Apple Store in the US while on vacation then they needed to take it in to the Apple Store for warranty support and the Apple store in the UK said that the warranty is still covered even though it was purchased in the US.
They said they only difference between the two models was that due to a law in Europe of the UK the volume limit was restricted and the max volume level was less than what the North American model has for the max volume level. Obviously this isn't that big of a deal so they replaced the iPod for him covered under the warranty.
And yes you will be able to update it using iTunes just fine.

Do other devices successfully connect to the router?
Does the iPod successfully connect to other networks/routers?
Does the iPod show wifi bands in the upper left?
Try:
- Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Powering off and then back on the router
- Resetting networksettings: Settings>General>Reset>Reet Network Setting

The iPod touch has a very rudimentary camera. It has only a 0.6 MP resolution, no optical zoom, no flash, etc. There is no app that can improve this as it is limited by the hardware. So it is not a replacement for a digital camera (nor even for an iPhone whose camera has a 5.0 MP resolution.
